A/N: I didn't really think much about doing one of these last time so I figured I'd go ahead and stick something up here. =)
The idea that started this story was from a fucked up dream I had about my ex bf. Granted, I am twisting it this way and that to make it more interesting (I hope) for you all. I have started fan fics in the past, but I never saw them as any good so they got deleted. ((Is self conscious about her writing, so don't be too mean.)) HOWEVER! I fully intend to finish this one so I'm going to start chapter one and try to get to the fun part of this story. =)

Chapter One~ Unexpected Imperfections

His amber eyes snapped open to the pitch-black darkness of his fiance's bedroom. Again. He had it again. That memory-turned-fucked-up-dream. Inuyasha blinked a few times and then shut his eyes again. Her face, with that damn blank expression, managed to stay as clear as day in his mind despite his attempts to will it away. He growled softly in frustration. Why would this start happening now? She left him, what? Five years ago? Seven?
Inuyasha didn't know, he didn't count. He had been trying relentlessly, and almost succeeded, in forgetting about Kagome.
Thinking that taking a quick peek at his fiance would perhaps replace the image of his old best friend, the hanyou rolled over to his other side and leaned over Kikyou.
Her pale face was softened with sleep and she had a slight smile. Aside from her daily bad mood, she looked innocent and kind in her sleep. Inuyasha smiled gently himself and used on clawed finger to push away a stray strand of her silky, black hair from her cheek.
Kikyou mumbled something incoherent and tossed her head to the other side. To his surprise, Inuyasha caught the faint scent of arousal. An expectant grin passed over his face.
Sex.
That would definitely make him forget that dream.
"Kikyou . . . " Inuyasha trailed his knuckles down her bare arm and blew gently in her ear. "Babe."
Kikyou shivered, her lips parting with her small intake of breath. Inuyasha tried again. "Kikyou . . . Whatcha dreaming about?" He asked quietly, his hand had found it's way to her chest and was half-heartedly kneading one of her full breasts.
His fiance moaned gently and then said something that made his hand go still.
Naraku.
He yanked his hand away like he had been purified and stared at her, his eyes wide and disbelieving at what had just been said by the woman he was planning on spending the rest of his life with.
Naraku! She was dreaming about her boss! And she was turned on by it! Was it just a dream, or was she replaying a memory like he just did?
Inuyasha, trying to keep his anger in check, got out of the bed and grabbed the only thing she took to work, her purse, and dumped it.
Pens, receipts, make-up. Nothing out of the ordinary, maybe he was over-reacting. He sighed, leaning his head back to stare at the ceiling.
'It was nothing . . . ' He repeated in his head over and over again, until a loud, abrupt buzz nearly scared him out of his skin. Shaken, the hanyou looked down at the bag and saw a little, square light shine through the hidden pocket on the inside. Inuyasha looked over his shoulder and looked at Kikyou's night stand. Her phone was charging there. Who's was this? He unzipped the pocket and pulled the cheap, shit-phone out, clicking the 'view now' button on the new message.
'my office or urs 2morrow?' from an unsaved number.
That wasn't the only message though.
Feeling his heart start to beat faster, the hanyou went to look at all the messages. There were incoming and outgoing, discussing a time to meet, all to the same number.
Inuyasha couldn't believe it.
Disgusted and powered by rage, he crushed the phone in his fist, letting the pieces fall to the floor. She was cheating on him! They had been together since high school! They were to be wed in the next few months! How could she do this to him! He was going to mark her and they were supposed to be together forever! Or atleast very close to it!
Cursing under his breath, Inuyasha stood up and began going around the room, yanking up all of his clothes and necessities, stuffing them all into his gym bag. Not once did he stop to look at her. He was hurt; betrayed by the woman he loved.
When he was sure he had gotten all, or most, of his clothes, he threw on some dark jeans, a red shirt, and slipped on his his vans before grabbing his wallet and phone. He took the key she had made for him off his key chain and threw it on the ground as he made his way out the front door into the hot, humid, night air.

"Red wine or wine coolers . . . " The soon-to-be twenty-three year old stared at the drinks in her cart in dismay. "Wine goes better with cake." She decided, picking up the six-pack of clanking bottles and putting them back on the cooler rack. "Now to get my treat... "
Kagome Higurashi smiled as she walked her way around the store to the bakery. In just a few minutes she would be the age she believed to be the best out of a life time. This was the year she was supposed to finish college and get the amazing job she always dreamed of, find the perfect man, and if things went even better than she was sure they would, she would get engaged.
Her lightly glossed lips pulled into an even bigger smile as she picked up her eighteen-piece cheesecake and placed it in her cart. It was going to be amazing. Just...
Kagome paused and pulled out her little, touch-screen cell phone out of her bag and went to look at the time, but discovered a missed call from her best friend instead. Glad it hadn't been too long, she clicked 'send' twice and waited patiently while it rang.
"Kagome?" Came Sango's voice from the other end. "Oh, Kagome. I have a situation."
"Miroku drunk outside your apartment again? I have the taser in my car. I can-"
Sango's laughter cut her off. "No, no. I called him before I called you on this one . . ." There was a long pause and Kagome pulled the phone away to make sure her call wasn't dropped, then stuck it back to her ear. Glass on glass sounded through the little speaker before Sango spoke again. " . . . but his phone is off and I can't use my apartment . . . " She got quiet again. There was more noise, then she continued. "Kohaku is sick. And Kami knows his brother won't help and he's refusing to go home and I have to close up and I don't want to toss him out into the streets. That's just not right."
A feeling of doubt began to settle deep in the pit of Kagome's stomach. No way . . . It couldn't be him. Maybe it was Kouga needing a ride home again. Yeah, that had to be it. Or Hojou? 'Oh, Kami. Please, anyone but him.' Kagome prayed, trying to reach the gods with thoughts and shear will power alone.
It took her a few moments to muster up the nerve to ask, "Who?" and when she did, Sango hesitated on the answer. "Kags, he was our friend for the longest time." The bartender tried.
"He seems to be in a huge rut. Something big must've happened for him to come here and drink until he is not in his right mind."
"Sango . . . " Kagome sighed and pinched the bridge of her nose between her fore finger and thumb. "I don't know what you want me to do . . . It's been years. He probably doesn't even remember me . . . "
"Kagome, I wouldn't ask if I could think of something else. I checked his wallet. He can't get a hotel. Aparently, he drank all his money here because damn Jankotsu thought if he got him drunk enough he'd get lucky. Anyway, he is babbling about you, Kikyou and some Naraku guy; I don't think he's forgotten."
Kagome went silent and Sango waited patiently, knowing this was alot to ask her best friend. Inuyasha was her first love, and it ended with Kagome walking away because Inuyasha, the big oaf, wouldn't drop his cold fish of a girlfriend for the girl who tried her damnedest to make him happy, and succeeded most of the time.
Sango heard Kagome's finger tapping on the back of the phone, signaling that she was thinking hard about this.
"I'll be there in a bit." The young woman finally said, her resolve shattering.
"He'll pass out on the way back to your apartment, and he'll most likely stay knocked out until tomorrow morning. I'll come over early so you don't have to be alone with him. Alrighty?" Sango added in an apologetic voice. Kagome mumbled a quick 'yeah' and ended the call. She quickly went through the check out and power-walked her way to her little, green bug, popping the trunk with the button and placing her self-purchased birthday present on the inside.
She vaguely remembered starting her car and pulling out of the super market parking lot, and by the time the raven-haired girl got to the highway, her mind was spinning. Inuyasha was going home with her tonight, on her her birthday, drunk off his ass, after nearly seven years. How did this happen? Wait. Scratch that. WHY did this happen? "So much for starting off my perfect year with the perfect, quiet evening . . . " Kagome mumbled, turning onto the gravel road that led to the bar. She followed it all the way to the end and pulled into the parking lot of the old timey bar. Jankostu, who was leaning on his beaten-up truck smoking a cigarette, looked up and scoffed when the green bug parked and the young woman stepped out.
"My, my." He said, tsking and shaking his head.
Not giving him any hint of interest, Kagome walked past him, not in the mood for his taunting.
"Here's the little ghost." Jankostu said, making Kagome stop with her hand on the door. She turned around and gave him a weird look.
"Ghost? C'mon. You've insulted me in worse ways, Janko." She said boredly, placing her hands on her hips.
"Wasn't an insult." Dropping his cigarette, Jankostu straightened himself and proceeded to ground the butt into the gravel. "You, you odd-looking bitch, have been plaguing poor Yashie's dreams."
What he said made no sense to Kagome what-so-ever. 'He must've just smoked some Mary Jane . . . ' She thought bitterly.
"I'm haunting Inuyasha's dreams?"
"That's what he told me in our heart-to-heart." Jakostu said, shrugging. Kagome almost laughed when he substituted 'drunken conversation' with 'heart-to-heart.' This man was deluded.
"He said that his dreams are all about you. Pity, really. Such a gorgeous man and all he can think about is an ugly duckling like you." The womanly-man walked around Kagome, bumping her shoulder on his way to the door. He opened it and then stopped, looking over his shoulder at the aggravated and completely confused girl. "Don't you think for one second that just because him and Kikyou are over that he is going to fall right into your lap. Poor boy is such a conflicted mess. Might even be hurt enough to steer into the other lane." With that, Jankostu disappeared inside and Kagome followed slowly, not really sure if she what was going to happen when she got on the other side of the door.1
