Sango's eyes fluttered open and she looked up at a high cream colored ceiling. Her initial thought was that she had fallen asleep at the kindergarten, but then she felt the silky covers draped over her. Her head was on an equally silky pillow and she didn't seem to be lying on the floor or one of the bedrolls located in the classrooms. She seemed to be on a bed and this panicked her. She could have been at Kagome's house, but she knew that Kagome didn't own silky sheets or pillows. At Miroku's house?... hopefully not. Who knew what that pervert would've done to her while she was sleeping? Sango propped herself up in the large king sized bed and took in her surroundings. A sturdy night table was placed on either side of the bed. One contained a phone and a few pieces of paper with crayon images drawn on them. The other had a picture frame that held a photo of Sesshoumaru and Rin in the park. She was on his shoulders and he was grabbing onto her legs, keeping her steady on his shoulders. Rin had a huge smile on her face while Sesshoumaru, whom she guessed was one of those emotionally constipated people, had a small smirk across his handsome features. “Sango!” the door slammed open and in the doorway stood Kagome with the officer she recognized from that morning, Inuyasha. Something was off about the two. They seemed to be holding hands and stole glances at each other... just how long had she been out? “W-where am I?” Sesshoumaru also appeared at the door way, “You are at my home...” “W-why?” Sesshoumaru sighed, taking a seat at a small desk painted pink with gold flowers painted on the sides. “Because you fainted... and Rin wished to meet her mother.” 'Rin... she knows I'm her mother...' Sango slung her legs over the side of the bed and looked at him. “H-how does she know?” “The ass took your blood and conducted a DNA test while you were asleep...” said Inuyasha, completely ignoring his brother's glares and sitting at the edge of the bed. “I gotta tell ya, you're a heavy sleeper... or maybe it was just the shock!” Sango was about to respond when seemingly out of nowhere Rin came bounding through the door, which Sango now understood to be Rin's room, and wrapped her little arms around Sango's mid-section, “Mommy!” Sango was bewildered. The information that Rin was actually her daughter still hadn't sunk in, but what awed her the most was how quickly Rin took to the new information. Apparently Sango wasn't the only one who had any suspicions about Rin being her daughter. “Rin knew...” the five year old gave her a gap-toothed smile. “Rin knew nice lady look like me!” she hugged Sango yet again and all she could do was look from the little girl to Sesshoumaru. “Well,” Sesshoumaru stood up. “I will allow you two to get reacquainted... take as much time as needed,” he said dryly, then walked out of the room with Inuyasha following him and Kagome following soon after, but not before a smile graced her face. 111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111 “So... this may be the wrong time, but are you going to send Rin off to live with Sango then?” Inuyasha asked. “Absolutely not!” Sesshoumaru snarled. “I do not care if Sango is her biological mother... Rin is legally mine therefore she will stay with me.” Inuyasha opened the door to Sesshoumaru's office, “Believe me, I don't want the runt to leave either, but Sango's her mother.” Sesshoumaru sat at his desk, shuffling the remaing papers that piled up on the surface, “And I said I did not care... she may come to see Rin whenever she wishes.” “That's not enough and you know that...” Inuyasha sat down in one of the chairs Sesshoumaru kept in front of his desk just in case clients came over to conduct business. “Think about Rin... you'd be taking her mother away from her after living without her for so long... do you really want to do that to her?” Sesshoumaru let out an exasperated sigh, his brother had a point. Now he somewhat knew what recently divorced parents with children went through. “Then what do you propose we do?” “Well, this house is big enough... you can have her move in here or give her the guest house I'm renting on your property and I'll move back in here... your call.” “There is no way you are moving back in here.” Inuyasha smirked. He knew that would get on his brother's nerves. Still, if he moved back into the main house it would be no picnic living with Sesshoumaru again. “Thought so. She'll be a roommate of sorts... what do you say?” “I personally think that's a great idea!” said Kagome who had just been silently observing their conversation as she stood by Inuyasha. Sesshoumaru glared at her then looked back at his brother. “Why should I when she abandoned her daughter?” Inuyasha didn't even say anything for he didn't know the whole story, that's when Kagome stood up and spoke again. “She didn't abandon her... Rin was taken from her. She told me the whole story!” she yelled at him. Sesshoumaru stood up in his chair and used his demonic speed to appear before her, “Who are you to come into my home and yell at me?” his eyes changed color from their normal amber color to a deep crimson then back to amber, “As for your friend... I will believe it when I hear it from her mouth.” 111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111 “This is all so crazy... I never thought I'd find you again!” Sango leaned down to kiss Rin's forehead and smiled against the younger girl's hair. After the initial shock had worn off, the emotions of love for Rin that she had kept in for five years just rushed through her. She hugged Rin so tight that she gasped for air. “Mommy... why?” Rin's little hand attempted to wipe away the tears Sango didn't even know she had shed. “Why what honey?” “Why mommy not here... Rin do something bad?” Sango froze, she knew that question would come... but she wasn't expecting it so soon. “No... no... you didn't do anything wrong.” More tears threatened to spill from her eyes and she continued telling her what had happened. “You see, bad men came to take you away from me when I was in the hospital...” “Why?” Rin asked. “Well... because...” she sighed, she hadn't wanted to talk about her parents and have Rin hate them before meeting them – no matter what they did, they were still Rin's grandparents – but it seemed like she had no way around it. “Because my mommy and daddy didn't think I would be able to... to keep you since I was still in school.” “Oh...” “They were looking out for me... and my best wishes, but they made a mistake because I never knew you...” Rin sat there pensive for a while before looking up at her mother with wide eyes. She wrapped her arms around Sango's shoulder's and smiled. “It okay mommy! We together now!” Sango only smiled and returned the hug, “We are together now!” Sesshoumaru, who had heard the whole thing, entered the room and almost – almost – smiled at the scene that greeted him... but there were more pressing matters to attend to. “Yamada,” he addressed Sango. “I believe we must speak.” Rin moved away from Sango allowing her to stand up from the bed. “Mommy, will you be back?” Sango glanced at Rin then at Sesshoumaru. She didn't know if he was going to kick her out of his house or not so she didn't answer Rin. Luckily Sesshoumaru answered for her. “She will be back... right now she will come with me.” Sango nodded and followed him out the door. 111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111 Sango and Sesshoumaru soon made it to their destination – Sesshoumaru's study. Inuyasha and Kagome were nowhere to be seen. They were probably back at Inuyasha's house or in the living room watching whatever the hell they felt like on the TV, but wherever they were, it was best that they weren't in the study while Sesshoumaru and Sango spoke. “Sit,” he commanded. Sango stood in front of the desk with her arms crossed over her chest and her eyes narrowing, “I'm not some dog you can order around...” He glared at her then smirked, she definitely was a fiery one and would not take to being bossed around. “Do as you wish, but know that this conversation may take long and humans can not stand for such a long period of time.” “I prefer to stand.” “Since you are the mother of MY child...” he inwardly smirked as he felt her tense up. That pissed her off, but she knew that he had a point. Rin was legally his and thanks to those blasted adoption papers her parents had signed and the fact that she was a minor at the time, Sango had no legal rights to her. “I have no reason to relinquish custody solely to you... especially since the court will not recognize you as her legal guardian.” “Where the hell is this going?” she knew she probably shouldn't have, but she sat down anyway since the conversation was all but pleasant and it was harrowing on her nerves. “And here I thought you preferred to stand...” “Again, where is this going?” “It has been brought to my attention that Rin, nor you for that matter, most likely would not settle for weekly visitations – which, might I add, is something I am not obligated to allow you.” Sango rolled her eyes and sat back in the chair with her arms still over her chest, “How generous of you...” “To get straight to the point...” “Please...” “...You will be staying here.” Sango shot up from the chair and slammed her hands atop the desk. “What?” she yelled, “Are you fucking crazy?” she slammed her hands on the desk with each word she said. “Are you quite finished with your assault on my desk?” he sat there amused. “Fuck you...” “I believe I am doing you a favor. Due to the conniving of your parents, it has been five years since you had seen Rin and you do not want to be separated from her... not even for five minutes... am I correct?” Sango stepped away from the desk and her eyes widened. How could he possibly know that? Sesshoumaru observed the quizzical look on her face and knew that she was asking herself how he knew what happened. “I overheard you speaking to Rin, though I do not know all the details. It was a rather underhanded thing to do to their only daughter... but then again, they are human.” Sango hated to admit it, but he was right. After finding Rin she would never leave her side again, and no, she would NOT settle for visitations either. Sango swallowed her pride and nodded her head in concurrence with his wishes. “Okay... but if I come to live here, my brother is coming as well.” It was Sesshoumaru's turn to be surprised. He didn't know she had a brother. “Very well... shall we move your things today?” “Whatever...”
