Thirteen Years Later
“Ye have a villager come to ye and say they have a deep cut going down they’re arm what do ye do?”
“I would first check and make sure the vein wasn’t split then I would clean it with warm water and then if it was needed I would stitch it up and bandage it” Kagome answers confidently causing her teacher and adoptive mother to grin proudly
“Good Kagome” Kaede says with a smile as she takes in the young woman who is sitting across from her beaming at the praise. Kagome has matured into a beautiful young woman, with waste length wavy raven hair a soft face with full pink lips and big sparkling blue eyes. Kaede can say she is proud to call this girl her daughter because she is as smart as she is beautiful, she is the jewel of their small village and all of the young men a vying for her attention, none as much as Hojo Yamaoto.
Think of the devil, Kaede thinks with amusement as the young man enters the hut and smiles blindingly at Kagome who smiles back but it doesn’t reach her eyes. Kagome tries to telepathically tell Hojo to scram because that just seems like such a rude thing to say out loud but alas he deflects her silent signs and plops down right next to her and shoves a bouquet of flowers in her lap while blushing like a mad man.
“Oh Hojo, you shouldn’t have” Kagome says with forced happiness before she sneezes causing petals to shoot off of the flows and dance around the room, “really, my allergies have been acting up lately” she rubs her itchy nose with the back of her hand
His face falls causing guilt to consume Kagome, “I'm so sorry Kagome! I didn’t know. Oh, I know! I’ll take care of you just as if you were my wife” he grins and annoyance takes place of Kagome’s guilt, ‘why can’t he take a hint and leave me alone?’ Kagome thinks exasperatedly
“No its fine really” Kagome says with a hint of desperation in her tone as she glances at Kaede who laughs
“Hojo lad, shouldn’t ye be helping in the fields” Kaede says with amusement in her voice at the relieved expression on Kagome’s face
“Yeah I should be getting back” Hojo says in a disappointed voice before he smiles at me, “see you at the festival tonight?”
Kagome had completely forgotten about the festival. They held one every year in honor of the house of Inu who protects their village, this year’s festival is more anticipated that the others because the lords and ladies of the house of Inu are coming to the festival this year. For some reason this caused Kagome’s nerves to go out of whack and she has been a nervous wreck, and had finally calmed down until Hojo had reminded her about the festival and now her nerves are back with a vengeance.
When she realizes Hojo is still waiting for an answer she smiles thinly, “I don’t know that I will be able to make it, it depends on how my allergies are later” Hojo looks immensely disappointed and stuffs his hands into the sleeves of his purple shirt, before he grins hugely
“All right I’ll come take care of you tonight” he smiles confidently
“Uh no it’s all right I’ll probably be better by tonight” Kagome says quickly before standing and brushing off her yellow kimono before walking to the door way and grabbing a basket and turning to Kaede, “I'm going to go pick some herbs are there any we are running low on?”
“No child” Kaede says before she ushers an objecting Hojo out and then smiles at Kagome, “how ye put up with him I will never know”
“I don’t know how to get rid of him!” Kagome says exasperatedly while throwing her hands in the air before grabbing the basket again and walking out the door to get the herbs.

“Father I have yet to understand why you are making me attend this useless festival” a cold emotionless voice says
“I have explained this to you multiple times Sesshomaru” Inu-Taisho says in an annoyed tone of voice before saying simply, “you’re going because I said so”
Sesshomaru narrows his amber colored eyes in annoyance before smoothing his face out into an emotionless mask, yet even with a blank face he is a beautiful man. He has a face that looks like it was chiseled from stone, with high cheekbones, a straight nose, lips that aren’t to full or to thin, and thick lashes that cover beautiful golden irises. He is at least 6’5 with a firmly muscled body, with two magenta stripes on each cheek, wrist, and hip, with a blue crescent moon on his forehead. His beautiful face is normally framed by waist length silver hair, but right now it’s pulled back into a high pony tail, leaving his tail more visible than usual on his shoulder.
“Dad tell ice prick to pull that stick out of his ass before we go otherwise the humans are gonna try and pull it out themselves” Another young man says in a snarky voice before grinning a lop sided grin, “or maybe he likes putting things up his ass, you gay, ice princess?”
“Inuyasha” a woman says in that tone of voice parents use when they act calm but you know they are about to kick your ass if you don’t behave, “stop patronizing your brother” The lady of the west, Izayoi has long straight black hair with bright bluish violet eyes, and a soft face with thick black lashes. She is on the thinner side due to a recent flu, but still has curves that make Inu-Taisho drool like the dog demon he is.
Inu-Taisho is a very big burly man with a loud booming voice that can be heard for miles. His silver hair is almost always restrained in a high tight pony tail, and instead of one tail he has two that rest on his shoulder. He has a sculpted face with jagged blue markings on his cheeks and a blue crescent moon on his forehead. He is a very kind man, but can be intimidating because along with being burly he is tall.
Inuyasha is the exact opposite of Sesshomaru; hence they’re hatred for each other. Sesshomaru is more dignified and reserved, like the heir to the house of Inu should be, when Inuyasha will not hesitate to speak his mind, whether it’s nice or not. If he does say words that are meant for harm, you better believe he will get the point across, one of his normal sparing partners -whom he hates almost as much as Sesshomaru- is Koga Ookami, the wolf prince of the eastern lands. Inuyasha got his rough exterior from growing up in a demons world as a half breed, something most demons have a strong distaste for, and it’s obvious he is one with his silver puppy ears on top of his head of silver hair, that surrounds a face that seems a tad bit sharper than most, with bright golden eyes that match his brothers and fathers, and a body that is more lean than burly.
“Half- brother” Inuyasha and Sesshomaru answer with disgust at the same time before snarling at each other
“Boys you will behave for this event or so help me you will be punished so severely you won’t dare even think about disobeying me again” Inu-Taisho growls before he walks over to Ah-Un and lifts Izaiyoi onto the beasts back before climbing on behind her and turning to his sons, “I trust you can make it to the village on your own.” He states while lifting an eyebrow, “oh yes and Kikyo is supposed to make an appearance along with Kouga” Inuyasha snarls when the wolf demon is mentioned
Sesshomaru simply sniffs before taking off on his cloud leaving Inuyasha to run after him before Inu-Taisho and Izaiyoi follow them on Ah-Un.

Kagome walks through the woods- or if you had happened to see her it would look as if she was skipping- on the path that leads to a meadow filled with herbs for medical assistance, surprisingly it was all natural and kaeade and her always made a joke about the meadow being a magic garden that belonged to Midriko so she would always have herbs she needed for helping people. They had this joke because the village they live in is actually the village Midriko lived in when not wandering Japan helping anyone in need. Kagome hums as she sees the entrance to the meadow and skips in a very graceful way into the meadow where she then goes from one end to the other collecting herbs and plants and adding them to the basket. She gets so lost in thought as she wanders around the meadow she doesn’t notice the flash of red coming at her until it’s too late. She squeals in shock as she is knocked over by a small ball of fur that is wailing loudly. Kagome looks down at her midsection and see a small fox demon kit with his hands fisted in her shirt as he looks up at her with tear blurred emerald eyes.
“Please miss! Don’t let him hurt me!” He squeals causing Kagome’s mouth to drop open in shock when he tries to hide in her kimono
“Hey! Stop it!” she squeals in a very high pitched voice trying to pull the kit out of her kimono, only to be shocked once again when he jumps out with her bag of coins and salutes to her before racing of in the other direction, “You get back here you little thief!” she yanks off her sandals as she begins running after him, knowing she can run faster without shoes
She sees him dodging around trees as she sprints after him her anger mounting by the second so she once again doesn’t notice when yet another blur of red races in her direction, and they also seem oblivious to her. They collide and crash to the ground in a tangle of limbs and curses.
Kagome pulls out of Inuyasha’s arms and accidently pushes her hand on his face when she stands up and glares down at the shocked half demon and spats, “watch where you’re going Idiot!” then she is off again after the kit.
Inuyasha snarls and snaps after her, “Stupid wench watch where you’re going!” then leaps up with a huff and races towards the village his mood getting fowler by the second.
Kagome is sweaty and out of breath by the time she makes it to a meadow where she sees the kit disappear into a small cave on the other side of the field. Her eyes narrow and she stalks across the field and enters the cave only to stop when she hears the kit talking to someone.
“I got this money all by myself! I hope you proud of me” The kits says excitedly, “I tricked that girl, making her think I was afraid and she didn’t even realize until it was too late that I was snatching her coins” the kit goes quiet for a few seconds before murmuring, “I really miss you and mom, but I promised you I would avenge you and I will so I’ll stay strong for you” Kagome peeks around the wall of rock and sees the kit from earlier petting a shirt that is three times his size.
Kagome puts two and two together before taking a deep breath and walking into the room the kit is in, “Is that your papa’s shirt?”
The kit jumps in shock his tail fluffing up with surprise before his eyes narrow and he hugs the shirt to his chest, “I'm not giving you your coins back I stole em fair and square” he snaps, “so go away”
“Is this where you live?” Kagome asks carefully sitting down across from him trying to be careful with the sensitive kit
His eyes turn a darker green with suspicion but he answers carefully, “yes”
“Did you get all of these things?” I ask gesturing to the small treasures here and there around the cave
The kits chest puffs up with pride and he nods his head swiftly and grins, “yup, see this jewelry box? I got it from this snooty lady who was being rude to all the kids in this one village, and then this…” Kagome listens to all of his stories about how he stole all of these treasures and is surprised when she realizes that he only took from people who were not kind to others, as a way to get back at them perhaps?
“That is a lot of treasure” Kagome says with a smile when he points out a jewel incrusted cane, “Do you have a favorite?” his eyes instantly light up and he runs over to a pile of furs that seems to be where he sleeps and he pulls up a big haori, the same one he had been talking to when she walked in.
“This one… this one’s my favorite” he says while looking at it in a dreamy manor
The shirt its self isn’t fancy. It has no design or hard to find colors, it doesn’t even seem to be made out of a fancy material. But with the way the kit is looking at the shirt you can tell it’s close to his to heart.
“How did you get that one?” Kagome asks, genuinely curious to hear the story of his most favorite treasure
He stiffens and his fists clench in the fabric before he takes a deep breath and whispers, “It was my papa’s before he died”
Kagome feels her heart clench at the sight of tears welling up in his eyes and scoots over to him and hugs him to her chest. The kit flinches and tries to get away before relaxing and gripping her kimono in his little fists as he whimpers into her chest.
“You poor thing, how long have you been out here alone” she murmurs rocking him gently in her arms
The kit wails loudly and begins to sob uncontrollably. Kagome feels tears well up in her own eyes and has to blink quickly to stop them from flowing down her face, crying might not be the best thing to do right now with him so upset. As she soothes the kit she doesn’t realize how much time has passed and that the festival has already started and the village is getting worried.

Sesshomaru’s mouth is set in an irritated scowl as he glides across the sky on his cloud. Why on earth father would make this sesshomaru come to a silly festival in a worthless human village sesshomaru had no clue. His father had droned on and on about how it was an honor to have a festival thrown about them every year, especially considering the villages problems with money. But that doesn’t mean we need to attend Sesshomaru thinks, and to make matters worse that bitch Kikyo will be there along with Koga which means Inuyasha will be a pain all night and Kikyo will try to sink her claws into him along with Sesshomaru.
Sesshomaru shudders when he thinks of the vile woman. She is one of his father’s friend’s daughter, and ever since she met the Taisho brothers she has been trying to catch one for herself, Sesshomaru being the preferred. She had been trying to catch Sesshomaru for years but he simply wouldn’t bite. Sesshomaru is brought out of his musing when he looks down and notices the town coming into view. His nose scrunches in distaste when the vile smell of human assaults his nose, he breaths shallowly in hopes of keeping the stench out when he smells the most delicious scent he has ever smelled. He inhales and ignores the human’s stench and picks up on one of cherry blossoms and vanilla. He becomes entranced and finds himself trying to reach the creature that belongs to this smell and soon he is landing in the village. The people turn and gasp before bowing quickly as Inu-Taisho lands Ah-Un and helps Izayoi down and Inuyasha runs into the village grumbling under his breath about stupid wenches.
“Thank ye my lord for visiting our village” An elderly woman calls out as she hobbles down the path from her hut, and Sesshomaru notices that the delicious smell is strong on the woman and the hut, but obviously not coming from the old wench.
“The honor is ours Kaede” Inu-Taisho says humbly as he bows to the old woman who smiles, her good eye crinkling around the edges.
“My lord ye will have to forgive me, my daughter isn’t back yet from collecting herbs” Kaede says her eyes lighting with worry, “so we are running a bit late”
“That’s quite all right, let’s go to your hut and you may tell us about this daughter of yours” Inu- Taisho says with a smile before turning back to his sons, “come on boys”
Inuyasha follows without a care in the world his mind to busy with the smell of ramen that is drifting from her hut to notice the smell of the very same girl he had run into, and Sesshomaru is too busy drooling over the smell of cherry blossoms and vanilla to even complain as they follow their father up the path.

The kit had finally calmed down and was now apologizing for getting her kimono dirty.
“Don’t be silly, all it needs is a little water and soap” Kagome pats his head as he wipes his nose with his sleeve, “so do you have a name?”
He glances up at her and retorts “Do you?”
Kagome laughs and says through her chuckles, “Kagome”
He nods and holds and hand out, “Shippo”
Kagome shakes his hand; “it’s very nice to meet you Shippo, now that we’ve gotten past the thievery” she winks at him causing him to blush slightly
Kagome then realizes that the village is probably worried about her and she gasps and stands quickly causing Shippo to look up in shock, “what’s wrong Kagome?”
“I have to get back to my village” she says before squatting down in front of him, “would you like to come with me?” when she notices the look of hesitation on his face she smiles and whispers, “and guess what?”
Shippo’s eyes widen and he whispers back, “what?”
“We’re having a festival tonight” the kits eyes light up with excitement before he nods his head vigorously
“Well then let’s go” she says getting up and just barley hiding her shock when Shippo jumps to her shoulder before making her way back to the village.
