Chapter 2
Azanthya sighs softly suddenly doubly glad she had decided to stop off in Thrallmar for supplies before heading home. She looks again at her wraithguard that is hulking beside her, "Well I guess we better figure out where we have ended up." She looks around again her long ear twitching slightly as she silently sends up a prayer that it is infact where and not when because if it's when then things could get ugly for her fast if this is before Silvermoon joined the Horde, she didn't want to be attacked by her allies if she ran into them after all. As a precaution she pulls a small pinkish purple stone from her inner pocket and focuses on the spell that would transfer her soul to the stone just in case. Feeling the hum of the stone she nods and places it back into her pocket and starts forward quietly, the large wraithguard walking beside her though he is looking around for threats.
After over an hour of walking and seeing nothing she sighs heavily pondering what she should do, after all it wasn't like she could just hearth now after all. Looking up she can see the sun is setting and that causes her to sigh again just before her stomach rumbles unhappily at her as if asking where the hell dinner was. Pressing a hand against her stomach she looks about, it wouldn't be the first time she'd had to set camp up but she wasn't happy about it anyways because she'd grown somewhat soft on living in Shattrath. "Let's find a place to set up camp my friend." She speaks softly to her wraithguard who just nods at her. As she starts forward again he watches his slender mistress, he had been pissed when he was first summoned, wanted nothing to do with this upstart warlock that thought she was powerful enough to control one of his ilk. But as time went on he softened some towards her, though it wasn't until after they had been fighting together for a while.
The twisting nether wasn't really a nice place to be even by Demonic standards so in that respect this was better and kept her head on her shoulders because she was the only reason he was able to stay in the living world, but the true softening had occured during a particularly thrilling fight when the elf put herself on the line, using the spell that so few warlocks bothered with to transfer part of her own health to him as he was weakening, healing his wounds at the expense of gaining them herself. Though his thoughts wandered he keeps an eye out for any threats to his mistress, including... he steps forward placing one of his heavy swords on his hip to wrap an arm around her as she tripped up keeping the pretty elf on her feet. Azanthya chuckles some and pats his arm, "Thank you. That wouldn't have been fun." She smiles and stays close to her wraithguard enjoying his warmth and the fact that she knew he would allow her to hold on. He merely grunts at her almost chastisingly for being so clumsy and walks with her until Azanthya's eyes widen and she smiles blindingly, "Oh here's a good place to set camp."
The hotspring they had stumbled upon was a heavensend for Azanthya who felt grimy as hell, she feels the wraithguard loosen his hold and she steps forward looking around, "I suppose I better start a fire first, then I can bathe. Please keep a look out." That was perhaps another reason why he had softened towards her, she was polite even though she had summoned him to serve her and treated him with the respect he was due. He nods once as Azanthya moves about collecting wood though she doesn't go very far from her currently stationary wraithguard. She comes back with an armload and clears a spot in the small clearing before stacking the wood in a tepee shape and stuffing some grass into the wood to act as a extra fuel before she calls together the energy to cast an immolate on the wood starting it up. Pleased she strips down leaving her robes and the sash with her bag attached to it near the fire so it would warm while she got cleaned up and pads nude to the water slipping in with a soft sigh of pleasure.
The warm water felt heavenly on limbs that were tired and sore from walking for several hours. It was bad enough that she wished she'd ridden through the portal if only so she'd had a mount when she got here... where ever here was exactly. She massages her calves under the water as she tries to ease them up, her ear twitches as she hears her wraithguard move immediately between her and something that was coming towards them. She groans lowly because she should have known the moment that she got undressed something would show up. She pushes to her feet heading for the shore as what looks like a quilboar on steroids comes crashing through the underbrush. Her nose curls at the odor coming off it and her wraithguard does not wait for an order percieving the creature to be a threat so he immediately hacks and slashes at it, feeling the warmth of immolate pass him by and seeing around him the darker shadowbolts flying from his mistress's outstretched fingers. no matter though how he cut and she blasted the thing kept coming back together.
She growls impressively for an elf and calls forth a chaos bolt nailing the creature in the chest followed up by another series of shadowbolts until she felt the rage sufficently and she closes her eyes a moment trusting the wraithguard to keep it busy and from her back erupt a pair of beautiful purple/black wings, a pair of large horns that match the wings push forward from her forehead and sweep back over her flame red hair. She steps forward out of the water as a long purple/black tail erupts from her tailbone and flicks aggitatedly causing some water to splash, the wraithguard does spare her a glance appreciatively but most of his attention is on the creature. Not far away there are voices that she can vaguely make out as speaking common, the one she can hear the best is female, "It's this way InuYasha! I can sense the shard." Not making any sense of that she swipes her hand to the side sending a shadowed wave at the creature cutting it in half as her wraithguard slices and dices once more though this time he accidentally dislodged the dark purple shard that had been slowly being worked out of it's hide anyways and once it was gone it took little to no effort to destroy the creature.
She had seen the little thing fall from it but was more focused on the creature. Once it was dead however she moves forward and crouches, her wings folding some against her back as she feels in the grass for whatever had dropped with that soft plink. Through the underbrush she can hear more crashing as she picks up the pretty little shard. Palming it she straightens just as the source of the crashing comes through into sight. A strange young male creature with silver hair and the cutest little puppy ears on his head that made her want to pet them and wonder at the same time if he was half worgen, a young woman with long black hair on his back, a human male in purple and black robes... that was staring... what a rude man. Behind him was a human woman and a giant cat. The half worgen looking male quickly put his hand on his sword causing her wraithguard to move quickly between her and the new comers.
Kagome and Sango are both blushing brilliantly, one of Kagome's hands had instinctively covered small Shippo's eyes, Miroku is appreciating the strange female demon's... charms... but at the same time as big a letcher he is he's also not stupid. While he has by no means seen every single type of demon these two were new, and the odds of there being two completely new unknown demons this close to edo were not good nor boding well. The male in red is somewhat red, "Give us the shard." He grunts out, Azanthya tilts her head slightly trying to decide if she should fake not knowing common as she saunters to the fire and picks up her robes the demonic features dissipating as she put it on without a word. InuYasha grits his teeth stepping forward threateningly causing the wraithguard to twitch his tail in annoyance no one was going to threaten his mistress and walk away. It is Miroku who holds up a placating hand, "Lady Kagome where is the shard?"
Kagome blinks and looks, "In her hand." Azanthya shrugs on her robe and ties it shut with the sash which brought the bag back to her hip. Inuyasha growls, only to blink as the male demon snarls back. Azanthya moves forward laying a gentling hand on the big male demon causing the others to blink as he defers to her though still stands ready. She drops her shoes on the ground and slips her feet into them speaking in thalassian to her wraithguard, "We might be able to get information from them. Please let me handle this unless it looks like it will go violent then you can go wild ok?" They didn't know what she said but watched warily as the big demon nods his bladed tail lashing some in annoyance. Azanthya turns her attention to the female that had correctly identified the location of the small stone she'd picked up off the ground and produces the shard between forefinger and thumb letting them see how dark it was, her common is thickly accented as she hasn't used it in nearly 20 years, "What is it worth to you?"
Kagome blinks and slides of Inuyasha's back, perhaps the demoness could be reasoned with after all. As she starts forward Inuyasha grabs her arm to stop her causing Azanthya to smirk, "If I wanted you humans dead you would be rather I could touch you or not. I asked you a question." Kagome gulps lightly hearing that but shakes off Inuyasha's hand to step closer still hoping to reason with the demoness, "It is my responsibility to gather and purify all the shards." Azanthya taps a finger off her lip, "Purify? Are you a Priestess then?" Kagome nods, "I am." "And your companions priestess?" "Kagome." Azanthya arches a brow prompting Kagome to speak again, "My name. It's Kagome. The inuhanyou behind me is Inuyasha, the monk in purple is Miroku, this," she lifts Shippo in her arms, "is Shippo. Over by Miroku is Sango and Kilala is the large cat." She gives a hopeful smile, "Might I know what to call you?" Azanthya is curious what the hell an inuhanyou is so she smiles faintly, "You can call me Azanthya. what eactly is an inuhanyou?"
That causes several raised eyebrows and curiousity but it's Kagome that anwsers again, "An inuhanyou is the result of an inu youkai mating with a human." "Youkai?" Kagome's brows crunch together in confusion, "You are a youkai that doesn't know what youkai are?" In that moment it became clear to Azanthya that once again she was the subject of mistaken identification. "Humor me." Kagome nods slowly, "Youkai are demons." she figured that was the easiest way to put it and is taken aback as Azanthya throws her head back and laughs. It was incredibly amusing to the warlock to be confused for a demon, it was even somewhat amusing to the wraithguard though if the truth was told this particular warlock was actually straddling the line now the development of a tail when she metamorphed indicated that. Kagome slowly holds out a hand, "May I have the shard please?" Azanthya hums softly, "Where am I?" Kagome's brows nearly touch her hairline, "You are a few days from Edo. Are you alright?"
Suddenly the miko was worried about the strange demoness, but at the same time sympathetic because she could remember what it was like when she first got pulled to this time and the confusion so it made her wonder where or when the demoness was from. "I am fine though I do not know what or where this Edo is you speak of." Kagome glances at Inuyasha worriedly before she lifts her hand a bit more, "The shard?" Azanthya looks at it for a long moment before reaching out and dropping it in the miko's lifted hand, "It is yours. I don't care to have something trying to seduce me. For the record whatever is in there is not nearly as good at seducing as it thinks it is." All of th inutachi relaxes some when the shard is dropped into Kagome's hand where it instantly goes to an opaque pink. Azanthya decides to offer the olive branch, "It is growing late. Were you planning to travel further this eve?" Everyone's eyes turn to Inuyasha and he sighs, "Fine guys set camp."
Kagome smiles brightly and hugs Inuyasha tightly, "Thanks Inu." Azanthya settles not far from the fire she'd started feeding it some more sticks, Kagome moves over, "If you don't mind us sharing your fire I'd be happy to make you and your companion some dinner along with ours." Azanthya lets out a rich chuckle, "He doesn't eat human food but I will accept your kindness." The wraithguard moves around to stand protectively behind his mistress. Since there was already a fire Shippo and Sango gather more wood and Kagome starts working on getting ramen started, Azanthya looking at the strange noodles before her brain makes the connection, "Ramen noodles?" Kagome nods and blinks, "You know what they are?" Azanthya nods, "I met several Pandarans in Shattrath. One set up a Ramen stand in the lower city though theirs had large bits of meat in it."
Kagome asks curiously, "Is Shattrath on the mainland?" Azanthya tilts her head, "It's in Terokkar Forest. Outlands. You have heard of it yes?" Most had so it was very unusual that she was having to explain it. For Kagome it made no sense but it did clear up that the two demons were certainly not from around here. "No sorry." Azanthya hums, "Well that isn't good. I was hoping that you might be able to assist me in returning to Azeroth." That name rang a bell... "Azeroth.... as in World of Warcraft Azeroth?" She didn't play herself but her little brother did and this was very quickly going to get strange. Hearing that Azanthya brightens, "You've heard of Azeroth?" Kagome nods slowly wracking her memory, "You are... a blood elf yes?" Azanthya nods, "I am! You know of my people?" And with that Kagome rubs the back of her head, "Not exactly. But I do know you are definately a long way from home." Azanthya nods with a sigh, "That I am."
Miroku finally comes out of his stupor and moves over to grasp her hand, "Fair maiden would you do me the great honor of baring my children?" Azanthya blinks once then twice and as Sango lifts her boomerang to slam him in the head Azanthya finally anwsers, "I am not about to bear a human's child. Sorry. No." She pulls her hand away sharply as Kagome looks at her questioningly, "What exactly is so bad about humans?" Azanthya turns looking at her with a look that weighed tons, "You do not know of my people. You do not know how humans betrayed us when we needed them most. Do not ask questions priestess you would not like the anwsers to." Kagome nods slowly, "You are right. I don't know your people. I don't know your past. But I do know not all humans are bad just like not all of them are good. You shouldn't judge all by the actions of some."
That draws Azanthya up short, her people are in the same boat weren't they? All Sin'dorei were judged by the actions of the traitor prince Kael'thas and his followers after all, at least for the most part. She sighs and looks to Miroku, "I am sorry I snapped but the anwser is still no." Kagome calms down some only to jump as Inuyasha hits a tree and stalks off. Azanthya looks after him then back to Kagome in question which prompts her to make a guess, "I don't know for sure but I think you in a round about way insulted him. His mother was human." Azanthya makes a small 'o' with her mouth as that did make sense she supposed. When dinner was finished Inuyasha had come back and all settled down to eat. As soon as her bowl was empty Kagome turns her attention to Inuyasha, "I need to go home. We are low on supplies and I have to ask a few questions maybe we can help Azanthya get home but I need information that the squirt would know."
Inuyasha looks put out, "Why should we help them?" He grouses but Kagome gives him a sharp look, "She didn't have to just hand over the shard Inuyasha. She didn't have to share her camp with us either. I get the feeling she is not here by choice any more then I was when I first came." It is Miroku who speaks up after that, "Until we can get her home once more perhaps we could work together?" he turns his attention to Azanthya, "It is clear you and your companion are powerful combatants. We could use all the help we can get against Naraku, and you would be with us if we figured out how to get you home again." Azanthya seems to muse about it as Sango speaks up putting in her opinion, "You did defeat a youkai that had a shard of the jewel and were unswayed by it's power. Either you simply have a very powerful will or you are powerful enough without the aide not to need it."
Kagome nods, "It is a good idea." Inuyasha breaks in "Hell no we don't need more people slowing us down!" Kagome gives him a slanted look, "Three to one in favor of having Azanthya join us if she is willing." With that she looks to Azanthya who just shrugs, "As it happens since I have no idea where I am it may be a good idea that we join you until I can find a way home." Inuyasha huffs but realizing he's outnumbered growls out, "Fine but you better be able to keep up." Azanthya sighs heavily, "I will do my best." She shifts slightly tired now and she glances at her wraithguard who moves behind her letting her rest against him as she drifts lightly wondering just what will come at her next. As she drifts off Kagome frowns lightly and looking to Miroku she moves over to whisper softly, "You sense it too don't you?" Miroku nods, his voice also pitched low, "Yes. We will have to watch her." Kagome nods lightly and moves to roll out her sleeping bag, she wanted to be able to help Azanthya but the feeling of wrongness wasn't leaving the young priestess. She sighs heavily and climbs into the sleeping bag, a very tired Shippo scrambling in to sleep with his mama.
Within a short time Miroku and Sango also settle down, leaving Inuyasha to perch in a tree grumbling unhappily but smart enough to know that arguing with Kagome wasn't worth it. If this new pair proved to be a threat he would end them rather the schoolgirl wanted him to do otherwise but he couldn't do anything until they prove them guilty of mischief. As the moon rises his ears twitch listening for anything out of place though his nose is twitching heavily at the odd scents coming from the newcomers.
