Chapter 22: Kagome Has A Son

A/N: Kagome gives birth to her son Tanmaru. His names means free spirit(well it does since I made it up.) and Inuyasha could not be more proud to have a son.
Sweat beaded and began to roll down Kagome�s forehead slowly. She half way sat up half way laid down in the bed with her knees bent. The time had come for her to give birth to her son. She gritted her teeth and began to push. Inuyasha watched with concern for both his mate and pup shining in his amber pools. Kagome let out a strangled cry as an excruciating contraction shot throuer ber body. �Oh Kami, make it stop!� She then dug her fingers into the mattress beneath her and gave a hard push. The elderly midwife that had come to help birth the child nodded as she reached down between Kagome�s legs to help guide the pup into the world.
�Almost there Kagome, push again.� Kagome nodded and groaned loudly as she pushed with every ounce of her strength. The baby�s shoulders and then the rest of his body slipped out of Kagome�s body quickly. Tears leaked out of the corners of Kagome�s blue gray eyes as she heard her son cry for the first time. The midwife cleaned off the tiny pup and wrapped him in a pale blue blanket. She handed the small infant to Kagome who eagerly took him into her arms. She glanced down at the pup to see that he had a head full of coffee bean brown hair just like Amaiya. His eyes were the same beautiful shade of amber as Inuyasha�s and his ears were only slightly pointed at the tips just like Amaiya�s were.
�Oh Inuyasha, he�s beautiful!�
�Of course he is Kagome, you�re his mother.� She smiled at his sweet comment. �So this is Tanmaru huh?� She nodded and handed the small pup to his father carefully. Inuyasha cradled the small infant boy in his strong arms gently. He looked down into a pair of amber eyes that looked identical to his own. Tanmaru yawned sleepily and nuzzled his tiny head against his father�s broad chest. Inuyasha smiled at the innocent pup in his arms proudly and then looked over to his mate to see that her blue gray eyes were quickly drooping from her exhaustion. He handed Tanmaru to one of the maid servants to take him to the room that he would share with Amaiya. Lord Inutaisho tiptoed into the room to see Inuyasha sitting down on the edge of the bed and running his fingers through Kagome�s long thick satiny black hair.
�So Inuyasha, how is the pup?�
�He�s fine.�
�Ah you had a son?�
�Yes we had a son this time.�
�Does he have a name?�
�Oh yeah, Kagome named him Tanmaru.�
�Tanmaru? Yes I suppose that will be a suitable name. What does Tanmaru mean?�
�Kagome says that it means free spirit. So I guess she thinks that our son will be very spirited and impulsive.�
�Much like yourself then.� Inuyasha looked at his father with questioning amber eyes.
�What do you mean much like me? I�m not impulsive.� Lord Inutaisho snorted at his youngest son�s reply.
�Oh Inuyasha, you are most certainly impulsive. Kagome was to be nothing more than a gift for you and you fell in love with her and made her your mate.�
�So what�s wrong with that? Besides Kagome was and still is a gift to me. I thank Kami everyday that I have her in my life. I should get down on my knees and thank Kami that she had such a forgiving heart and was able to love me in return after all the terrible things I did to her.� Kagome�s blue gray eyes just barely fluttered open and she watched her mate beneath thick black lashes carefully as he spoke to his father. �Kagome is the most wonderful woman I have ever met father. We have two beautiful pups and I couldn�t be happier.�
�That�s wonderful Inuyasha, I merely said that you were impulsive and free spirited. I wasn�t trying to insult your mate or anything like that.�
�It�s a good thing. I love Kagome so much that it feels like my heart could burst at any second. She is an angel to stand by me after all that I put her through.� Kagome allowed a small smile to form on her lips. She felt as if her own heart were about to burst she was so in love with Inuyasha. Sesshomaru entered the room to find an exhausted Kagome and Inuyasha and their father having an intense conversation at her bedside.
�Well I take it that everything went well with the delivery of the pup?�
�Oh uh yes, hello Sesshomaru.�
�How is the pup?�
�Tanmaru is fine, he�s sleeping in the nursery right now.�
�How is Kagome?�
�She�s fine, just tired.� Sesshomaru nodded and glanced over at the miko. Inuyasha and Inutaisho stood up and headed towards the door. �Are you going to come downstairs with us Sesshomaru?�
�Oh yes, I�ll be down shortly. I just wanted to speak to Kagome.� Inuyasha nodded and headed out of the room followed by their father. Sesshomaru sat down on the edge of Kagome�s bed and patted her hand. �You can open your eyes now Kagome, Inuyasha is gone.� Her blue gray eyes fluttered open at once.
�How did you know that I wasn�t asleep?�
�I could see the faint movement of your eyes behind your partially closed lids.� She frowned at him making him chuckle immediately. �Don�t worry you had your mate fooled.�
�So what did you want to speak to me about Sesshomaru?�
�Ah yes, something that I should have said to you long ago.� She stared at him with wide eyes and waited for him to continue. �Kagome, you know that I have done some things that I am not particularly proud of.�
�As in?�
�As in forcing myself on you that night in my brother�s room.� He felt his heart give a painful throb in his chest when he saw the unshed tears glistening in Kagome�s blue gray pools. �I should have never laid a hand on you.�
�Are you-� He held up his hand to silence her immediately. Kagome chewed her lower lip as Sesshomaru paused to collect his thoughts.
�I had no right forcing myself upon you and neither did Inuyasha. However you fell in love with Inuyasha so all has been forgiven there. I guess what I am trying to say is that I apologize for any pain that I have caused you.�
�Did you just say you were sorry for raping me?�
�Yes Kagome, I am sorry for what I did to you. Do you believe me?�
�I.... I..... I d-don�t know Sesshomaru. You were so horrible and unkind. I don�t know if I can believe that you have changed completely.�
�I see. Will you accept my apology Kagome? I do mean it from the bottom of my heart. Yes I do have one of those, I know you�re wondering that.� She looked down at the blanket on the bed and felt her cheeks burn from their blush.
�Yes Sesshomaru, I suppose I could give you the benefit of the doubt and accept your apology. Did you decide to come apologize or should I thank Rin?� He smiled at her comment.
�Uh yes Rin did urge me to apologize for my actions. However I have been regretting my past behavior towards you.�
�Thank you for apologizing to me Sesshomaru, I will try to be more kind to you from now on. Perhaps we can build a new relationship now that we�ve mended things between us?�
�Yes I would like that very much Kagome, you are after all my sister by marriage.� He bent over and gently embraced Kagome. Sesshomaru smiled to himself when he felt Kagome�s slender arms squeeze around his neck returning the hug. Now things were truly as they should be between he and his brother�s mate. He could feel much better about himself now that he had repented for his past sins by asking for forgiveness for his actions.
