A/N: Well here�s another chapter, hope everyone likes
it.� Thank you to all who reviewed.

Chapter 20
The next day everyone was up early to continue training.� While all of the men gathered in the field
Kagome went into the forest to begin her own training.� Sesshomaru had
strongly protested her leaving his sight, but in the end she won.� So now Sesshomaru
stood in the field facing off against the Shichinintai,
while she was alone in the forest, but still in the barrier.� Kagome was in her usual battle attire sitting
in the forest listening to the others for a minute.
She wanted to make sure that they were all training and she
wouldn�t be disturbed.� She listened to
all of the men practicing for a minute before clearing her mind.� She was distracted for a moment as she felt a
lower level demon try to enter the barrier only to disintegrate on impact.� Kouga didn�t know
it, but she had sent word out to his friends Ginta
and Hakaku on where he was, so they could come see
him if they chose.
In a way she hoped that they didn�t decide to join the
battle, but at the same time she knew they could use all the help they could
get.� She had a plan and Midoriko was helping her, so hopefully everything would
work out.� Kagome kept a part of her mind
focused on the edges of her barrier for her guests, but cleared the rest of her
mind to begin this new training.� She had
also summoned a few other guests to join the battle and was still awaiting a
reply.
Kagome took a deep breath and called Midoriko
forth to help her, �Midoriko, are you there?�
�Yes child, shall we begin?�
�Yes, first I wish to summon the one
of great power to help, if he is willing to leave the afterlife.�
�I have already spoken to him and he
is more than willing to help.� He also
wants another chance so he can meet his family.�
I also must ask you, are you sure about the wish you are planning on
making?�
�Yes Midoriko.� The wish is unselfish and will help many,
therefore rendering the jewel useless to any other.�
�I agree child, my only fear is that
you will not have the strength to pull it off.�
A wish such as what you are planning will require a lot of energy and
the energy will come from you.�
�Yet another reason for our training,
I need to build up strength and energy.�
If I must die, then so be it, but I want to at least do my best to stay
with my child.� Summoning the one of
great power will require a lot of energy so that would be a good place to
begin.� Then I need to learn how to call
forth objects that I do not already contain.�
�Yes, that way your promise to Kagura will be fulfilled.�
Well, let us begin.� Clear your
mind and focus on the one you want to call back from the afterlife.�
Kagome did as told and used everything she knew to call to
the one that she had only seen once.� She
did not know if this was fair, but since he had given his consent she went with
it.� She let a piece of her soul flow out
and to the one she was calling upon.
�Are you there?� I call upon you to join me,� she called in
her mind, sending it to the part of her spirit she had sent down.
�I am here little one.� So you are the one that wishes to call me
from the dead to help in this war.�
�Yes, your family needs your
help.� I need your help.� I have seen the outlook and fear for the
lives of all of us as well as my mate.�
Please, I know it is unfair to ask this of you, but will you help.�
�I would love to help to the best of
my ability.� Especially
if my family is in danger.�
�Then I call to you, arise from the
dead, join us in the living once more.� I
beseech you.� Your armor and clothing are
here, come to me.� Follow my soul and
join the living once more.�
Kagome felt her energy draining as she tried to speak to the
dead.� She formed the part of her soul
into a body and took the hand of the one she was calling.� He took it without hesitation and began to
follow her soul back to the realm of the living.
�We must hurry, my energy is being
drained quickly by this land,� she said beginning to hurry back to her own
realm.
She really hoped this worked.�
She could still feel the big hand engulfing hers.� Suddenly, she felt her energy being pulled
out of her too fast.� She dropped to the
ground gasping, feeling pain rip through her.�
The being picked her up and she looked up into concerned eyes.
�Hold on little one.� Which way?� he asked holding her close to his
chest.
Kagome pointed the way to the realm of the living and he began
to fly in the direction indicated.� She
knew that Sesshomaru would sense her pain soon and
come running, if he moved her body now then the connection would be broken and
she would die.� Her vision began to fade
as she felt the fresh air of her world suddenly rush into her lungs.� The arms holding her faded as her soul
rejoined her body.
She drew in a quick breath and her eyes snapped open just as
she felt Sesshomaru�s arms surround her.� She looked up into a pair of concerned golden
eyes and smiled weakly.� Sesshomaru had been fighting with the Shichinintai
when he felt Kagome�s pain and her life force weakening.� He had rushed in her direction at a speed
even he did not know he possessed.
He did not calm until he had her in his arms and felt her
pain fade and her life force stabilize.�
She smiled weakly at him and he felt his heart still pounding in his
chest.� He knew he should not have let
her go off on her own.� All of his
thoughts stopped however when he looked up and saw the demon now standing before
them.� He froze in complete shock.� How could this be?
�F..father?� he asked still not
believing his eyes.
�Hello, Sesshomaru.� You seem to be doing well and you have a very
powerful mate as well,� his father said smirking at his son�s shock.
Sesshomaru looked back and forth between Kagome
and his father not believing what was going on.
�But, how?� he asked.
�Your lovely mate here came for me.� She asked my help in the war to come and
brought me back.�
Sesshomaru looked down to see Kagome smiling,
�I thought it would be a nice surprise,� she said weakly, then yawned.
�We better leave explanations for later and get you mate
something to eat before she collapses,� his father said.
Sesshomaru just nodded dumbly and picked her up
gently.� When they walked back into the
field everyone froze.� Inuyasha�s jaw dropped and his sword quickly followed.� Everyone else was completely speechless.
�Inuyasha is that any way to greet
your father?� Sesshomaru asked trying to snap his
brother out of it.
Inuyasha shook his head and quickly ran
forward to give his father a hug.� Kouga and the others also having heard the comment quickly
bowed to the great demon lord.
�Father, but how?� Inuyasha
asked still in shock after his father released him.
Inu no Taisho smiled down at his
youngest and simply nodded to Kagome who was still held in Sesshomaru�s
arms.� Inu no
Taisho then walked over to Kouga and grabbed his arms
to make him stand.
�You have no need to bow to me son.� You are now one of my children and you saved
my youngest with your love.�
Kouga looked up in absolute shock, the
greatest demon to ever live was actually talking
casually to him.� He called him son and
granted him liberties beyond his station.�
He actually gasped in surprise when he was suddenly pulled into a hug by
Inu no Taisho.�
Kagome wanting to see what was going on used a little trick Midoriko had shown her and pulled a little energy from
nature so she could function.
Sesshomaru�s eyes widened as he felt the sudden
pull of energy from all around them.� He
looked down to see Kagome glowing slightly before she opened her eyes and
jumped from his arms.� He just shook his
head, he was starting to get used to these little surprises, he
would just ask her later what she did.�
He walked with her hand in hand to where his father stood.
�Well father since she seemed to have another trick up her
sleeve, I would like to formally introduce my mate to you.� This is Kagome, the Shikon
Miko and Lady of the West.�
�It is nice to meet you in person and not just spirit, Lord Inu no Taisho,� Kagome said bowing slightly.
�And it is very nice to meet you in person as well, Lady
Kagome of the West and Shikon Miko.� The very one who would risk her own life to
give me a second chance.� I am already proud to call you daughter,� he
replied bowing to her.
Everyone in the field gasped to see the great Lord bowing to
the small woman.� Sesshomaru
himself could only smile with pride at his tiny mate, but he would be having a
talk with her later about the risking her life part.
�Well everyone why don�t we go inside and have lunch.� Father I would also love to introduce you to
our children,� Sesshomaru said as the others went
ahead to clean up.
�Children?�
You have children?�
�Well, I revived a little girl and then adopted her and
Kagome adopted a fox kit after his parents were murdered,� Sesshomaru
explained, �But we love them like our own and hope to one day
add to our family.�
�Well, I cannot wait to meet my grandchildren,� Inu no Taisho said excited by the fact that he had
grandchildren.
Who would have thought that Sesshomaru
of all people would adopt a human child?
�Jaken!� Sesshomaru
called and immediately the toad was at his side.�
�Yes milord?�
�Have the children come out to the garden and inform the
servants that we will be having our lunch there.�
�Right away milord,� Jaken
screeched rushing off mumbling about stupid children.
Before Sesshomaru
could say anything an orb of light hit Jaken shocking
the shit out of him.
�He never learns,� Sesshomaru said
turning to Kagome, she was looking at him innocently.
Inu no Taisho just started laughing, �I
guess that happens a lot?�
�Yes, quite often,� Sesshomaru
replied, �Kagome does not tolerate him bad mouthing the kids and he just
doesn�t learn.�
They walked into the garden in silence except for Inu no Taisho laughing.�
They had just sat down when the children came running out and jumped at
Kagome and Sesshomaru.
�Children there is someone we would like you to meet,� Kagome
said.
Both kids started jumping in excitement.
�Children this is your grandfather, my father, Inu no Taisho,� Sesshomaru said,
�Father this is Rin and Shippo.�
Both children looked at Inu no
Taisho in awe for a moment before pouncing on him asking a million questions.
�Can we call you grandpa?� Shippo
asked.
�Weren�t you dead? �Did
daddy bring you back with his sword?� Rin asked.
Kagome and Sesshomaru watched
smiling.
�Yes I would love for you to call me grandpa.� I was dead and no Sesshomaru did not bring me back with his sword,
your mom brought me back.�
Inu no Taisho just kept laughing and
answering questions while the children bounced in his lap.� He was so happy, these children were
absolutely adorable.� He looked up to see
his son and daughter also smiling at the children�s antics.� The children finally settled down when the
servants came out with a blanket and lunch.�
They all sat down and were soon joined by Inuyasha
and Kouga.
�Thank you, Kagome,� Inuyasha said
hugging her and giving her a quick kiss on the cheek.
�You�re welcome,� she said happy that he finally had the chance
to meet his father.
They all ate happily, the conversation light.� Everything seemed so perfect, but they all
knew that it was not going to last.�
There was a war coming and for now they were happy to try to forget
their problems.� After lunch Kagome got
up to continue her training leaving the children and the others to talk and
catch up.� She walked to the center of
the field and closed her eyes.
She took a deep breath and focused on nature surrounding
her.� It was almost like she could hear
the trees and grass talk.� She felt the
energy of it surround her, embrace her.�
She needed to learn to control her full power.� Slowly she started to open the gates that she
used to hold it back.� Her aura began to
flare and she concentrated more to try and control it.� Slowly she let it flare more and more.
Her body began to float up into the air by the sheer power
alone.� She slowly opened her eyes, but
still maintained focused.� She was
glowing and continued to let the power flow out, so far so good.� Suddenly her concentration snapped and she
felt the flood gates open.� Her aura
flared around her completely out of control.�
She looked down to see everyone standing at the gates watching her in
shock.
�Stay back!� she yelled when Sesshomaru
started to step forward.
�You must pull it back child, it
could destroy you if you don�t control it,� Midoriko�s
voice called in her head.
�I can�t,� she said trying to reign it in.
�Yes you can,� another voice said.
�Inu no Taisho?�
�Yes, my daughter.� You can do it, imagine it like a dragon on a
rope and pull it back in.� just give it a form in your mind and you can do it.� Trust me.�
�OK, I�ll try.�
Kagome closed her eyes and focused.� She imagined it like he said and began to
pull.� At first nothing happened, but
slowly she managed to get it to come back inch by grueling inch.� She would not lose,
she had to do this for her family, for her friends.� They needed her for the war and she could not
fail them.� She felt the sweat dripping
down her face as she continued to focus.
After what seemed forever she finally had it.� She pulled it in and closed the gates.� She took a deep breath and felt herself
falling.� She flipped and landed in a
crouch hard enough to shake the earth around her.� The group at the gate covered their faces as
a strong gust of wind flew at them.� When
the dust cleared they all stared in shock as Kagome stood in a deep hole in the
ground, her whole body glowing and radiating power.
Sesshomaru didn�t know all of what just
happened, but he knew he had never felt power like that before.� Had Kagome been hiding her full
potential?� He rushed over to her worried
that she might be hurt after such a fall.�
He jumped into the hole and looked around in awe at the impact she had
made.� She simply walked over to him with
a questioning look.� Did she not realize
how the earth shook when she landed?
�Are you ok?� Sesshomaru whispered
still slightly shocked.
�Perfectly fine koi.�
I was just working on trying to control my full power.� I still need to work on it though,� she
replied giving him a hug as he jumped to get them out of the hole.
As soon as they were out she put her hand out and the hole
disappeared, leaving the field as it was before.� Then she walked over to where the others
stood.
�Thank you, father,� she said hugging Inu
no Taisho.
�You�re welcome my child.�
I had the same problems when I was first training with the full use of
my powers,� he said laughing.
�By the way I have been meaning to ask you.� I know that you will use Tennsaiga
in the final battle, for the final blow, but would you like me to give you Sounga for the battle or do you wish for another sword?�
Kagome asked looking at him.
�You mean you could give me Sounga
even though it was sealed away?�
�Yes, if that is the weapon you wish I can get it.� You were the only one who could control
it.� So do you wish for Sounga or would you like another sword to fight with in the
battle?�
