As the night of the new moon came closer Sesshoumaru found himself in more pain than usual, but he ignored it feeling excited that Inuyasha was going to have a human night and then he would get what he wanted.

I wondered if the curse was even really working anymore. Sesshoumaru seemed to be able to withstand the pain and I caught him strutting down the hallway like a little kid who was given a lollypop for good behavior. It was absolutely ridiculous the way Sesshoumaru was acting and I so wanted to bean him for being such an ass.

Sesshoumaru walked around the castle with a slight smile on his face making everyone who knew their Lord freak out since usually when he smiled it meant something bad for someone.

I wanted to warn Shiro and Inuyasha of Sesshoumaru’s intentions, but I was not allowed to leave the castle grounds. I hoped and prayed that Inuyasha would be able to keep these pups since I knew how much it meant for Inuyasha to have them. I couldn’t even get a message out to my brother without Sesshoumaru reading it first.

As the night of the new moon approached Sesshoumaru remained awake and watched the grounds for his ninja spy to return. Sesshoumaru was actually fidgeting a bit which was unusual for the stoic demon Lord.

Soon the sky was dark and the new moon was upon them. Sesshoumaru tried to be patient, but he was too excited about the prospect of what could occur. Suddenly a ball of white flew in the direction of Sesshoumaru. Then it stopped as Shiro stood with the head and body of his spy in his grip. Shiro threw the remains of the spy at Sesshoumaru’s feet.

“I highly suggest you chose someone better to spy on us than this fool and as for my mate I told you beforehand he is no longer a hanyou.”

Inuyasha stepped out from behind Shiro. His long silver hair was put up in a top knot and his eyes narrowed at Sesshoumaru.

“The only reason you are still standing before us is that little girl Rin, my sister Kimi, and your Mother. By the way, you are not the only one who has a spy watching out for our interests.”

Shiro said as a being with no demonic scent floated down from the roof of Sesshoumaru’s castle to the ground.

Sesshoumaru’s eyes narrowed at the elemental that had been spying on him.

“Here is the information you requested.”

The elemental stated to Shiro who looked at the document and snarled.

“You hurt Kimi for hugging us?!”

Inuyasha said angrily.

“She is mine and I will do what I see fit with her. No other male will touch my Karei.”

Sesshoumaru growled.

Pain raced up his spine from his neck and Sesshoumaru threw up a large amount of the black blood with the feelings of hate running through him.

Damn Father for this curse! It made him seem weak to his enemy.

Before Sesshoumaru could blink Shiro had his dagger at Sesshoumaru’s throat and cut deep into Sesshoumaru’s mating mark.

Sesshoumaru howled in pain and then grabbed Shiro throwing him into a tree. Shiro just bounced off the tree with his feet and started running towards Sesshoumaru with his sword drawn. Sesshoumaru pulled out bakusaiga and rushed forward meeting Shiro’s blade.

Inuyasha was itching for some action so he could get involved in this fight, but Shiro made him promise to stay back due to Sesshoumaru possibly trying to gut him and kill the pups.

The two men were an equal match as swords clashed and sparks flew off the mighty swords.

Sesshoumaru felt the blood come up again but he ignored it letting it flow out of his lips making his face, armor, and kimono stained with his blood. Sesshoumaru hated this man and wanted him dead. He ignored the searing pain as the mating mark pulsed against him and as he battled Shiro Sesshoumaru kept losing more and more blood.

I screamed at them to stop since I was afraid Sesshoumaru was going to die at this rate. His blood was gushing from his lips and he felt himself weaken little by little. Still he fought on trying to push Shiro back, but Shiro’s strength seemed to grow since he had not one, but two people he was going to protect.

Shiro pushed Sesshoumaru back and the angry silver diayouki tried to gain ground by using his strength pushing his yokai out and into bakusaiga. Shiro was prepared for this and used his own youkai to enter his blade. As their youkai’s combined there was a huge explosion knocking both Shiro and Sesshoumaru back as their powers twisted in the shapes of black and blue dragons colliding with each other.

Sesshoumaru knew he had to finish this quick. He was losing too much blood and soon he would be unable to stand.

With determination Sesshoumaru started moving his blade faster against Shiro who matched him with his own speed. The two looked like a blur as they flew at each other. I could see however that Sesshoumaru was slowing down with the massive amounts of blood he was spewing.

Shiro knew he had the edge now and he took advantage of Sesshoumaru’s slower speed hitting back with his blade now cutting into Sesshoumaru’s flesh. Sesshoumaru started to feel a bit dizzy and disoriented as he spewed out more black blood. His strikes were getting weaker by the second and just as he tried to cut off Shiro’s sword arm he fell forward and Shiro plunged his blade into Sesshoumaru’s chest.

“NO!!!!!!!!”

I screamed as I ran to stop my brother from killing him. Shiro grasped the barely conscious Sesshoumaru by his hair and went to cut Sesshoumaru’s head off when I rushed to Sesshoumaru with tears in my eyes covering his body with my own.

“Karei………”

Sesshoumaru said weakly as he fell into my arms barely breathing. I did not care about getting blood on me as I held him.

Shiro tried to pry me off of Sesshoumaru, but I fought tooth and nail to protect Sesshoumaru.

Inuyasha walked over to where I sat sobbing holding Sesshoumaru in my arms begging for him to be well again.

“He doesn’t deserve your tears little one.”

Shiro said to me and I slapped his hands away as he tried to get me to come to him.

“You don’t understand Shiro! All this blood is his hate that has festered into his body for years! Sesshoumaru was given a curse from his Father that he would lose blood every time he felt hate! This blood has made Sesshoumaru into the monster you think he is and he is dying as every vessel in his body is filled with this black blood! Sesshoumaru cannot feel compassion because of it and there is no cure to this curse of compassion he has been given!’
“I know he has hurt me terribly, but it is this blood that is making him this way! He is capable of great love; I know this in my heart! I beg of you to spare his life! I know I am a fool to ask you this my brother, but I love him! He needs my love and I know somewhere inside beyond the black that taints his blood that love is returned!”

I sobbed.

Shiro returned his sword to its sheath and walked over to the silver diayouki as Inuyasha pulled me back and away from my mate.

Grabbing Sesshoumaru by his long silver hair, Shiro whispered in his ear.

“I will spare your miserable life for now because I love my sister. You don’t deserve her love or compassion from anyone. I know you can hear me so know this, I will be merciful to you today however if you harm one hair on my precious sister’s head or try to harm my dearest mate I will finish what we started here with your blood dripping from my sword as I shall render you to shreds you piece of filth.”

Shiro said angrily.

Then Shiro dropped Sesshoumaru to the ground and Inuyasha watched as more blood came out of Sesshoumaru’s mouth. It was odd that he knew Sesshoumaru was slowly dying yet he did not feel a sense of loss. He did not feel compassion towards his elder brother and knowing the man was trying to kill his own pups sickened him. Handing me over to Shiro Inuyasha went over to his brother and thought how easy it would be to kill the man now. However one thing that Inuyasha did respect of Sesshoumaru was he did not kill him when many times he had the chance to do so.

“Sesshoumaru you do not deserve to live, however you have spared my life many times and for that I will spare yours. I know you hate me and I feel the same for you. I thought someday we could be brothers, but you destroyed that and I will never forgive you for what you did to me. I will never forgive you for trying to kill our pups. You don’t deserve to even see them when they are born and if you ever try to hurt me or Kimi again I will insure you will be considered dead to them and they will never see this disgusting monster that is their Father.”

Inuyasha said punching Sesshoumaru across the jaw and kicking him hard in the ribs.

“Kimi I think you are a fucking idiot to love him, but it’s your life. I just hope that you won’t regret your decision since to be honest you are much too good of a person to be with this piece of shit.”

Inuyasha said spitting in the direction of his brother.

“Kimi I love you little sister. I only wish I could understand your feelings towards this evil beast. You are always welcome to come home my dearest one.”

Shiro said before walking away with Inuyasha back towards home.

I ran to Sesshoumaru’s side and sat him up so his blood would not drown him. I had to get help to get him off the ground since I was not strong enough to lift him on my own. Two of the guards came to carry their Lord to the healer’s chambers.

They placed Sesshoumaru on one of the futons and left as I tried to prop Sesshoumaru up on the bed. I then ordered the guard at the door to get me a wash bucket, soap, and clean drying cloths to clean up his face and clean the wounds he had from Shiro’s sword as I pulled of his armor and everything else except his hakumas and his boots.

I gently washed him trying not to make the wounds bleed again as I waited for the healer to arrive. As I waited I held Sesshoumaru’s clawed hand gently in my own and kissed the moon on his forehead.

“Sesshoumaru please listen to me. You need to stop feeling hate for people. I am begging you to do this since I cannot bear the thought of you dying.’
“I don’t know how it happened, but I feel this so strongly for you. I love you. I know I am foolish in believing you might come to love me too, but I will still hope for it.”

I said as I kissed his hand and ran my fingers through his long hair caressing his cheek gently with my fingers.

The healer came and looked at Sesshoumaru. He felt no pity for this man, but he would do his duty even if his Lord was a complete and utter evil bastard.

I explained to the healer what I knew of this black blood in Sesshoumaru’s veins. I didn’t know why or how his Father did this curse of compassion towards him. All I knew was that as long as the black blood lived in his veins he would never break free from the evil threatening to end his life.

“Well he has lost quite a bit of his blood and the only idea I have is to find a demon that is willing to sacrifice some of their blood to him.”

The healer said and I immediately thought of his Mother. I asked the healer if we could send for her to come so she might save Sesshoumaru’s life.

The healer wrapped Sesshoumaru’s wounds and pulled down a jar of black slimy looking things.

“These demon leaches feed on demon blood. I never thought I would need to use them, but perhaps they will help in removing this black blood you speak of.”

The healer said as he placed the leaches on various parts of Sesshoumaru’s body.

“He lost so much blood though. I don’t want him to lose more.”

I said in frustration.

“He will be fine little one. Lord Sesshoumaru is a diayouki and as such he can heal himself once his youkai has had the chance to regenerate the blood and damaged tissues. I am also going to study this black blood to see if I can find an herbal remedy for it. If not I will need to consult the scrolls.”

The healer said. I watched as the demon leaches seemed to get fatter and fatter growing in size as they fed on Sesshoumaru’s blood. I wanted to pull the vial things off of him, but I knew the healer would be angry with me if I did.

“Karei……”

Sesshoumaru whispered softly.

“Yes Sesshoumaru?”

I asked.

“Please don’t leave me Karei.”

Sesshoumaru said with his opened his eyes just a little before closing them again.

“I won’t leave you, I swear it.”

I said as I kissed his lips and laid my head on his shoulder.

Sesshoumaru gently squeezed my hand before slipping away into a deep slumber.

Shiro was in a rather foul mood. He had Sesshoumaru right there in his grasp to kill this bastard and his sister was in love with the man. She loved a man who abused her and beat her. It made no god damn sense.

Inuyasha was also upset, but he knew lashing out at Kimi would do him no good. The girl was a complete moron with the most beautiful heart he had ever encountered. She deserved to be with a man who would love her and never hurt her.

Sesshoumaru of course had dumb ass women that fell in love with him like Kagura and that stupid human Princess that turned herself into a demon just to steal Inuyasha’s sword and give it to Sesshoumaru. Both had died of course so it wasn’t like Sesshoumaru was having the greatest of luck with women who actually cared for his evil ass. Still, in all honesty who could truly love a man who couldn’t give a rat’s ass about them?

Inuyasha knew Sesshoumaru was gorgeous so the only thing Inuyasha could think of was the fact his brother was an attractive male that made women lose their fucking minds. Rin was the worst of them believing Sesshoumaru to be some kind of demon saint practically worshiping the ground he walked on.

The worst part of this whole situation was that deep down inside himself he did want to care about Sesshoumaru. He hated that he did care, but it was there like a festering wound that would never heal. Inuyasha wished to the gods that Kimi was right about Sesshoumaru’s black blood and that this shit in his veins was what had turned Sesshoumaru into an overbearing evil asshole.

“Inuyasha I think I am beginning to understand your issue with females. They seem to do irrational things that make no bloody sense.”

Shiro said.

“I don’t know what to think Shiro. I care very much for your sister, but she is a total idiot. Then again my brother had two women that I know of fall in love with the fucker and died. I can’t fathom even feeling sorry for Sesshoumaru that he is suffering. There is a part of me that wishes this black blood of his will be completely removed and he will stop hating everyone. Even if I hate his fucking ass he is my brother and the last of my family. I just can’t imagine him dead.”

Inuyasha said.

“I do understand Inuyasha. That is part of the reason why I do not want you to fight him. Only I can perform the killing blow since I cannot allow you to feel regret in your decision to kill him. I also need to protect your pups. I simply do not understand how a man could feel happy about having his own children destroyed. The pups are innocent and it sickens me that Sesshoumaru could take their lives without feeling remorse for his actions.”

Shiro said as he removed his armor and set it on the rack.

“Shiro I want to thank you for helping me with the pups. Because of you I do not have to feel so weak and helpless as I do when I am human. I in some ways feel regret because my human side was the large part of my Mother’s blood and reminded me that she was still very much a part of me, however I do not miss the flooding of emotions and having to hide to remain safe during that night.”

Inuyasha said.

“Inuyasha I swore I would protect you and you do not have to thank me for helping you save the pups. As far as I am concerned I shall treat these children as though they were of my own blood.”

Shiro said as he helped Inuyasha out of his armor.

“So what of the treaty between us and Sesshoumaru? Doesn’t this act of his go against the treaty?”

Inuyasha asked.

“Unfortunately it does not go against the treaty. He merely wanted you to be human so you would have to lose the pups, but he did not all out attack us. The other issue is I had a verbal agreement with Sesshoumaru concerning Kimi. I didn’t have it put in writing so I expected Sesshoumaru to keep his word. It is obvious he has no honor and that I cannot trust him. Still I expect I may have to kill him for the sake of my sister. I honestly do not know what Kimi is thinking, but I cannot allow her to come to harm again. I love her.”

Shiro said sadly.

“Well that totally bites.”

Inuyasha said.

“I will continue to keep my word concerning our treaty and we will see how Sesshoumaru acts as I have more than one elemental spy watching over him. They will report to me and we shall see if Sesshoumaru changes after this black blood leaves his body. I do not think he will change, but we shall see.”

Shiro said and he shrugged off his haori leaving it on the floor for his servants to take care of it.

Inuyasha followed suit and sat across from Shiro as Shiro poured himself a glass of sake. Shiro ordered the servants to bring something for Inuyasha to drink.

“Well for now let us relax Inuyasha. I doubt Sesshoumaru will be any threat in his condition at least for the next few days.”

Shiro said as he sipped his sake.

The servants brought Inuyasha some berry juice. Inuyasha slowly drank it down as they sat looking at the fire which was in a pit on the floor wondering what the future held for them concerning his brother.
