21:� Little Human Mine

�� Kagome laughed as she shifted in her
seat.� She and Koga had been talking and
laughing as well as listening to the radio for the last few hours.� Her whole being was relaxed, and she was
feeling rejuvenated.� She studied her
mate as he grinned over at her, alternating his attention from her to the
road.� There weren�t many cars around
since it was the middle of the week.

�� She stretched a leg at a time,
contemplating a stopping place.� It
would be nice to get out and run around for a little bit, but she wasn�t sure
where they wanted to stop for the night or anything like that.

�Where
do you think we should stop for tonight?� she finally asked while mapping out
alternatives for the route they were taking.�
They had just jumped on the highway without an actual goal in mind.

�Is
there some place you would like to go?�
We can change directions if you want to,� he said noncommittally.

�Well,
I was thinking of making a stop to stretch and rest for a little bit,� she
hedged before he interrupted her quickly.

�It
is well after noon.� We can stop and
either find a spot for camping or find some kind of a hotel or something.�� He watched her as she weighed the options.� Her lips curved into a grin that he found
contagious.�

�Camping
does sound fun.� I haven�t been since
middle school while in the feudal era.�
There are a few spots not too far from here that we can go,� she
murmured while tracing and calculating the kilometers to each place.� She listed off three different places that
they could make it to in about a two-hour limit and then listed the amenities
that each offered.� They chose a smaller
one that offered a lake that Koga knew had an odd shape that offered privacy
for the camping spots.

�� Koga relaxed as he quickly mapped out
the directions he was going to take when the right exit came up for the turn
that he needed.� He felt that he had his
own little paradise in that car, and it was about to include the lake now
too.� He slid an arm around Kagome as he
thought about using that scenic lake to ask her to go through that human
tradition that would also bind them together.�
He was actually excited about it.�
Not as excited as when she had accepted him as her mate, but he knew
that this had a similar significance to her.

�� He took in her rich, intoxicating
smell and relaxed as he drifted into familiar territory, savoring the
moment.�

�� It seemed as though no time had passed
when he was drawing near the camping area.�
They just had to park, then he could lead the way up the small hiking
area to a certain spot that he had enjoyed before.� But first, they had to stop to pick up food for the night and the
morning.� Koga mused that he was still
proving to Kagome that he was the best provider for her.� It was pure instinct for his kind, and she
hadn�t complained, so it wasn�t a problem.

�� Kagome gasped as they finally reached
the spot.� It was simple but
beautiful.� The trees were leafy and
green, and the grass was soft even if somewhat grown and in need of a trim.� There was a spot that had obviously been
used as a spot for campfires in the past.�
Kagome�s attention was snapped back to Koga when his arms slipped around
her and released a soft growl into her neck.

�We�re
a good piece off the beaten path, but it is still allowed as a campsite.� If you need me to, I can guide you back to
the public restrooms.� Now, we need to
set up the tent and get everything settled in,� he said softly before moving
toward the packs they had dropped upon entering the area.�

�� He withdrew the tent from its case and
began to lay it out.� His eyes lit up as
Kagome began to put the assorted metal poles together and lay them out, ready
to be used.

�� Kagome�s expertise with camping gear
really showed as the tent and the few other amenities were seen to in what had
to be record time.

�� Koga laughed as she flopped on the
thick grass and looked over the pond.�
It was late afternoon, so it was definitely not time to start a fire,
but they could go for a quick walk around the lake.� For the moment, he just wanted to be near his mate.� He settled next to her and scooped her form
to fit it in next to his as they took in the scenery.� He did miss this peacefulness that had been bred out of this
modern world, but he still wouldn�t wish to go back when Kagome wasn�t with him
as his mate.

�� His mind shifted to the surprise that
he had concealed not too far from them, just inside the tent.� His mind was made up.� He would ask her this very evening.�

�� He was inching toward it before he
really realized it.� Maybe this was the
moment.� He contained his excitement as
quickly pulled out the little box and moved back to Kagome.

�� He lied down next to her and slid his
hand up her belly to her ribcage.� He
kissed her cheek, making her squirm.�

�Kagome,�
he husked, drawing her attention to his face.�
�I have been trying to find the right time to ask something.� I know we are already mated.� I really want to give you a human wedding as
well.� I talked to your mom, and she
gave me her permission to ask you.� Will
you marry me?� he asked while opening the box on her abdomen with one hand and
stroking her cheek with the other.

�� Kagome was having trouble drawing air
into her lungs.� She was already bound
to him, but she had not really given a lot of thought to actually getting
married.� It was just not something that
she dreamed of since before she started traveling into the past.� Even then, she had only put a normal amount
of thought into as any other young teen would.�
The only decision that she had ever made at that point was that she
probably would one day.

�� Her eyes were glued to the beautiful
ring in the box.� It was not a standard
engagement ring, she mused to herself.�
It had a dark blue sapphire cut into an ornamental square shape with a
white gold or platinum band.

�� The silence stretched until Kagome
turned and looked straight into Koga�s eyes.�
She bit her lip lightly before kissing him softly.� Against his lips, she whispered her affirmation.

�� Koga nearly howled and roughly
returned her kiss before ravishing her body with his hands, crushing it into
his own as he showed her his elation.�
He hadn�t even realized that he was scared that she would turn him down.� He knew that would be ridiculous since she
was his mate already, and that was an unbreakable bond.

�� His hands smoothed along their path up
her sides, his thumbs coming in contact with her covered breasts.� He rubbed slow, teasing strokes on the sides
of the full swell.� Her soft moans
encouraged further attentions that he planned to take, but not until
later.� Right now, he wanted her mouth
and her body.

�� He tried to reassure his body by
pressing his hot erection into her answering heat.� It only enflamed him further until he realized that there were no
longer barriers between their bodies.�
The kiss took on a renewed vigor as he pushed inside of the tightest
embrace that his body had ever had the pleasure of adoring.

�� The pace was slow and leisurely, but
at the same time, it was filled with an exploration and affirmation of the
rightness that existed between the two participants.� Their mouths stayed fused as they both fought to breath without
losing the physical connection.

�� His hands traced along her sides, reveling
in the rise and fall of her chest.� Her
legs wrapped around him as if to dispel the mere thought that this moment in
time could not last for an eternity.�
Her ragged breath pulled his hips into a rhythm, or maybe it was the
other way around.� He couldn�t tell.

�� This was as gentle as their loving
would ever be despite the very real possibility that her hips and bottom could
be bruised from the way he was forcing himself further into her.� Liquid heat poured around his member, and
taut muscle pulled and tightened.� Her
draw was irresistible.

�� He didn�t know when he started to
growl contentedly when he had finally poured himself in her.� He was once again stuck with no way to
loosen himself from her extreme heat.�
He also had no inclination to do so either.� His mate seemed happy enough while caught beneath him and the
connection unbreakable for the time being.

�� The sight of the couple in front of
him burned into his memory with a bitterness that he had not expected.� She had always been a passing interest that
he had not deemed worthy of any extra attention until she crossed his path this
last time.� It was mostly because she
didn�t acknowledge any familiarity to him until after he had exposed his real
self to her.� He knew that his fa�ade in
the human world didn�t resemble his demon form, but he knew that she should
have been able to see through it.� He
couldn�t determine if her powers just weren�t strong enough or if she just didn�t
feel connected enough to him despite his attempts to end her life to take
notice.� He knew that humans now didn�t
believe in his kind and that they weren�t as cautious for the monsters hiding
in the darkness.

�� The taste of bile filled his throat as
the wolf demon participated in a normal human custom.� She was an unruly bitch that was branded
into his consciousness.� It was something
that ate away at him.� He had an
undeniable need to show that he was her alpha, but if she belonged to the wolf�s
pack, she couldn�t be under his rule.�

�� He was determined to show her that he
claimed her as a sub member of his pack because she was in his younger brother�s
pack.� It was an irrational feeling and
connection, but it was one that he felt.�
He never did examine his instinct because it was what made him so
strong.� His instinct was what thirsted
so strongly for the power that he became drunk off of.

�� Time passed as he watched the
couple.� They finally got up and got
dressed and took off down a path.� They
were hiking in the moment that the sun was gone but night still hadn�t taken
over.� The wisps of retained light
danced around Kagome, highlighting her fragility and humanness.

�� He followed, sticking to the darkest
of shadows.

�� Koga felt uneasy as he knew that they
were being followed, but he couldn�t catch the scent or feel out the demonic
energy to identify whom it was.� It was
grating on his nerves, but he was also having trouble keeping his senses on the
possible danger to his mate and himself.

�� He compromised and pulled Kagome more
into his side.
