Sorry for the huge wait in a chapter for this fic. I've already finished Chapter 22, though, and I plan on posting it in a week. Also have the next few in my head begging to get out, so you might just get regular updates for a while!
Chapter 21 - An Intriguing Diversion
Kagome sighed happily. She couldn't have been more comfortable, and she loved the position she and the guys were currently in. Sesshoumaru lay flat on his back with Kagome on his right side, lying mostly on her stomach, half draped across his body, with one foot tucked under his right knee. Inuyasha copied her position, laid half across the miko's back, his nose buried in her hair. The hanyou's arm lay over Kagome's body, his fingers entwined with hers where their hands rested on Sesshoumaru's abdomen. The taiyoukai's left hand held the miko and hanyou's clasped hands, his fingers also linked with hers so that both brothers were holding Kagome's hand. His right arm was stretched out, supporting both of his bed partner's heads, and his palm sat innocently on Inuyasha's far shoulder.
It was an incredibly intimate position that gave her hope for their future together. Neither seemed bothered by the proximity of the other. They weren't trying to keep from touching each other. Both brothers seemed completely at ease with their closeness, and Kagome loved that they were making real, notable progress. She wanted more than anything to be both their mate, but she was determined to stick to her guns and make sure they would actually be able to make it work before she agreed. If they mated and it all fell apart, she would be devastated, her heart torn in half, as she was now one hundred percent convinced that she couldn't live without either of them. Having spent this time with them both was wonderful, and she wanted it to stay that way forever.
Sure, she was slightly nervous about the actual mating, mostly the anal sex part, as she never considered giving such an act a try before they explained the situation to her. Now, she couldn't get it out of her mind. All of her sexual knowledge, other than what Sesshoumaru had taught her, she learned from listening to tales of her friends' intimate experiences. The girls held nothing back. Yuka, Eri, and Ayumi shared every tiny detail, bragging about everything they did, and yet none of them had ever mentioned anal, so she had no frame of reference or idea what it might really be like.
Kagome knew that at some point in the near future she was going to have to have a discussion with Sesshoumaru about it. During their argument about who should go first, Inuyasha had stated that the taiyoukai had experience in such a thing. She needed him to tell her how it worked and what she should expect. She assumed it would be uncomfortable, but if it was, then why would women agree to do it at all? Was her assumption wrong? Was anal sex something she would actually enjoy? The miko tried to shake the thoughts from her mind. Now wasn't the time. Kagome had something else on her mind, something a great deal more fun than such an awkward conversation would be.
Awake, but with no desire to move, the miko tipped her head just enough to see that Sesshoumaru's eyes were open. She smiled at him, thrilled when he smirked back in response. She loved seeing real emotion on his face, and he was becoming more comfortable being completely open, his cold mask of indifference nowhere to be found.
"Sesshoumaru?" she murmured softly. "What time is it?" With no windows or any other way for natural light to find its way into their cave dwelling, along with how she had been sleeping at random intervals for unknown lengths of time, Kagome had no idea if it was night or day, nor how long they had been at the taiyoukai's home away from home.
"It is late at night. Why?"
"Will you let me know when it's morning?"
Sesshoumaru fought to keep from frowning at her. He hated it when she completely ignored his question, as if she hadn't heard it at all. "I will. Is there a reason you desire such information?"
Kagome grinned, knowing just how much he hated repeating himself, which was why he'd worded the same question in a different way, so that it wasn't as obvious that was what he was doing. "My internal clock is all messed up," she said softly, hoping not to wake the softly snoring hanyou.
Inuyasha never really slept, not all the way. She often worried about him because, as they traveled, he rarely even closed his eyes, always alert and keeping watch. She appreciated his devotion to the protection of their pack, despite the frequency of his visits with Kikyo, which left them exposed without him. He promised that he would no longer go running when the undead miko summoned him, and so Kagome was trying to keep her out of mind completely. She knew that when they started traveling again, her hanyou would once again refuse to rest, and so she was glad he was getting as much sleep as he needed while they were taking a break from their quest.
A thought struck her and Kagome smiled brightly. Now that Sesshoumaru would be traveling with them, perhaps the brothers could take turns keeping watch. That way she would get to sleep in the arms of at least one of them. She wasn't looking forward to going back to sleeping alone. She didn't really care what Miroku and Sango might think about her mating, either. They were not going back to the others until they were fully mated, unless she decided that such a mating was impossible, and as a mated woman, it was her right to sleep with one or both of her mates every night, no matter who was around to see, or what others may think of their arrangement.
"We've spent so long in this cave that I'm getting stir-crazy. I need to go outside. I need some fresh air and sunlight. Besides, I thought it might be fun to play. You know, teach Inuyasha our favorite game."
Sesshoumaru's smirk grew. Oh, how he loved the little game she devised. They didn't get to play often, had only done so a few times, but each and every one was thrilling, and every game ended in a wholly pleasurable way. He had a feeling the hanyou would enjoy it just as much as he did.
Kagome felt Inuyasha shift against her, his face pulling back out of her hair, and she mentally cursed. She hadn't meant to wake him.
"What's this I hear about a game?" he murmured sleepily.
"Our miko devised a game that she desires to play in the morning."
"What kind of game?" the hanyou asked, his curiosity growing at the tone of Sesshoumaru's voice.
"I do not know how she knows all she does about inu instincts, but I will be forever grateful that she does. I have never had more fun, and the prize at the end never fails to satisfy."
Inuyasha growled in annoyance as his elder brother danced around his question, making the miko giggle. "It's nothing too complicated. He makes it sound like I invented it out of thin air. It's basically a combination of 'hide and seek' and 'tag'."
"The games you taught Shippo?" the hanyou asked incredulously. "Sesshoumaru plays kids' games? And fun? I didn't know you could have fun, man."
Sesshoumaru scowled but ignored Inuyasha's playful taunt. He would not allow it to start an argument and possibly upset their miko. Neither of them wanted her angry with them, and if she was, he doubted very much that she would still wish to play come morning. "As a hanyou, I do not know how powerful your instincts are, though your desire for Kagome's blood was obvious. I suspect the others are present as well, just waiting to be brought to the surface. Trust me. Though they may have started out as innocent children's games, our miko has turned them into anything but."
"Wait. So you expect me to let her run around outside in the woods, by herself, with no idea where she actually is? Like hell! Something could happen to her."
Kagome softly pressed her index finger to the taiyoukai's lips, knowing that he had been angered by Inuyasha's words, but not wanting a fight to start. She was already proud of the taiyoukai for controlling his temper and she didn't want him to lose it now. "Sesshoumaru always erects a huge barrier around the area and makes sure it’s safe before we play. He would never risk my safety any more than you would. You should know that by now."
The hanyou huffed, but stayed silent for a long moment. "So... What? You hide, and we try and find you?"
The miko laughed softly. "Basically, but you're kind of oversimplifying it. I get a head start and find a hiding place, and you search for me using your senses. You try and track my scent, maybe listen for my breathing, whatever it is you demons do," she said with a playful lilt to her voice. "And if I think you're getting too close, I might decide to change hiding spots. If you find me, I run and you chase me. Sesshoumaru has always taken it easy on me for a while, extending the chase, since we all know you guys could catch me before I took two steps if you wanted to." Kagome couldn't help it as her amusement grew. The more she explained the basics of the game, the more aroused her hanyou became, his hard length pressing against her. "Eventually, though, you catch me."
"And then what?" Inuyasha asked, his tone now heated.
Sesshoumaru chuckled. "What do you think, little brother? What would you do once you caught your prey, your intended mate?"
The hanyou moaned softly, burying his nose in her hair, breathing in her scent in an attempt to calm himself. The sweet aroma of her arousal, however, made that a very difficult task.
"I'm not sure how it'll work with two of you, though," Kagome said thoughtfully. "I guess you could work together. I'm not so sure competing against each other is a good idea."
"There is nothing wrong with a little friendly competition," Sesshoumaru purred in her ear.
"Maybe, but with the two of you competing, neither of you is going to want to let me run. You'll both want to catch me right away, before the other does." Kagome sighed heavily, wishing that it wasn't so complicated. An idea struck her and she grinned. "How about you're not allowed to actually catch me until you've spotted me three separate times. That way, you won't ruin the game by ending it too soon. Besides, once one of you catches me, it'll be pretty easy for the other to find us and join in the fun."
"The fun happens out in the woods?" Inuyasha asked in surprise. He assumed he would carry his prize back inside to their comfortable bed before enjoying the win. "You want to have sex out in the open?"
Kagome couldn't help but laugh at the surprise in his voice. "Wouldn't be the first time and, unless you plan on abstaining while we travel, it won't be the last. Sure, Sesshoumaru and I found shelter from time to time, but more often than not, we didn't. There's just something about being intimate outside, the warm sun on bare skin, the cool breeze that gives me goose bumps. I love it. It also reminds me of just what you are, the wildness, the animal inside of you both when we're out there surrounded by nature. It's hot, really sexy. Under the stars, lit only by moonlight, isn't too shabby either. Did you know your hair glows in moonlight, Inuyasha? It makes you look ethereal, almost angelic."
The hanyou snorted. "Angelic?"
Kagome grinned. "At least until you open your mouth. So, I'm assuming, with that boner you're packing, that you want to play?"
Inuyasha growled playfully at her before pressing his hard length more firmly against her. "I'd never really thought about it before, chasing you, hunting you down, but damned if it doesn't sound like fun."
The miko grinned and nuzzled her cheek against Sesshoumaru's chest, weaving their fingers together and closing her eyes. "Morning can't come soon enough."
