The chapter is a bit fast paced. Please, excuse the last chapter. I was writing that a bit on exhaustion. It's no excuse, but I am sorry. I didn't mean to confuse people. I an rushing a bit with the chapters though, so to bring out Kagome and Sesshomaru a lot more. I've decided that if we want more insight on the others, I will write a whole new story for them - if you guys will read it of course. For now, we will kinda be rushed with them - since I had some people make complaints that too much if going on. So I apologize to everyone! I didn't mean to do that! Honestly!
So! Here is the next chapter. Oh, and to answer a few questions. Sesshomaru can't fight his mother. She holds a greater power over him at the moment because he isn't 18 yet. His powers are more manipulated by her, since she did give birth to him. Only way he can gain freedom is if she dies.
Now! Miyo will die! But it won't be until a while. A good antagonist doesn't get knocked out the story until it's close to the end. Miyo stays until the final straw is pulled. She will die! I guarantee it!
Now! For Sesshomaru's scars and wounds, it will be explained in this chapter. Kagome's irrational behavior, also explained to the best of my abilities in this chapter. Basically, when you love someone - and I mean love someone - jealously, insecurity and irrationality will also come join the club making you a not so attractive person. I know this, and I know some of you know this as well. Love makes you become a new other person - good or bad.
Also! A new face will be introduced into the chapter, which helps Kagome out a little - and eventually will be used against Sesshomaru later on as well. Maybe. Depends on how the chapter works outs. Now! Any questions, leave a review with your email address and I will message you and discuss and help you out with whatever is confusing you. Thank you for following! Hope you enjoy!
Two days had passed since the incident with Satomi. While some thought she was in the hospital for PMS cramps, the rest knew the true reason. Luckily no harm came to Satomi or the baby.
But that didn’t stop Sesshomaru and Bankotsu to watch over her like a hawk, and once again Kagome was back to square one.
Taking a stroll on the sandy beach, dressed in just a light sweater and capris, feet bare to the sand, she walked with her thoughts. The kiss she shared with Sesshomaru, it never left her mind. But her heart ached because she knew his loyalty and love will always be for Satomi. He could lie all he wanted to her face, but she saw the signs. He loved her!
But she knew this since the first day. Why would it hurt her still knowing that they both shared a deep bond that no one else shared with them? How could Bankotsu handle all of that knowing the love of his life saw another man? It made no sense to her, but she decided that she wouldn’t bother with it anymore. She didn’t want to deal with other people’s love affairs, and figure out why this person acts like this with this person.
It was none of her business, and she was going to have it that way. It was time she grew up and kept her nose out of things. Why she even bothered to become like this was beyond her. It made no sense why she acted like this. She was Kagome Higurashi! This was not how a Higurashi acted!
But every time the thought of that silver-haired, amber eyed, yokai devoured her mind - she felt like a crazy person. Needing to know everything about him. Wanting to know him. Seeking for his attention. If love made a person like this, she wanted no part! She was not a desperate woman seeking affection from a cold hearted jerk whose heart belonged to her cousin! She was better than that!
Stopping in her tracks, inhaling sharply and kicking up sand to release some of the pent of anger - she was oblivious to a familiar face in the distance. She was so lost in her own thoughts, she couldn’t even hear her name being called out to her from afar. It wasn’t until she felt a hand on her shoulder that she was brought out of her mind and into reality, staring right into the familiar light brown eyes and hair with that cute, boyish face.
“Hojo?”
Smiling brightly, he chuckled and nodded. “Yeah, I been calling your name for the past five minutes but you kept on walking. It’s been such a long time, how have you been? I heard you went to a new school.”
Staring in space, she finally remembered the guy was talking. Blinking out from her zone, she smiled and nodded in response. “Oh my god, it is you! Finally a familiar face!” She laughed softly before giving her close friend a friendly hug. “It has been a while, and yeah I moved to that K International School. It’s really great for reaching my goals and all.”
Returning her hug, he relentlessly let her go as she continued to talk. Smiling, he nodded as he continued to listen to her melodic voice. “That’s great to hear. I was wondering where you ventured off to, but Eri and them didn’t want to tell me. They only said you left to a new school and that was it.” He frowned.
“Really? That’s strange.” Kagome thought as both her and Hojo began to walk along the shoreline. “I wonder why they would be so tight lip with you. You are a friend of mine and theirs. That’s just really strange.”
“Yeah, but I try not to think about it. I’m just glad I got to see you now. I was really worried about you, and how you were doing in the new school.” He replied.
“It’s pretty great, but I keep to myself mostly. I made some new friends, and they are all awesome, especially Sango. She really is an amazing woman.” She chuckled lightly. “I even go to school with my cousin Satomi.”
“Is that the one that accidentally hit you with that bokken when we were younger?” Hojo chuckled, remembering the incident as if it were yesterday.
“Yeah. I still have the bump on my head to prove it.” She exaggerated. But for the first time since leaving her old school, she was starting to finally feel like herself again. It made her so happy and complete. “I miss my old life, Hojo.” She confessed in a whisper.
“What makes you say that?”
“I feel not like myself lately. I been so out of it, I am not even sure why I am acting the way I do. I can’t help but feel that I should probably take a break from my new friends and this new life - just so I can be myself again.” She sighed out.
Confusion played in his eyes as he heard her confession. It wasn’t like his Kagome to be this down and depressed, especially about herself. Reaching out to take her hand, he smiled as she looked over to him. “Come on, I want to show you this awesome place where you can see the sun set.” Without another word, he began to race off into the shoreline distance, holding Kagome’s hand.
As they finally reached their destination, he finally let go of her hand - silently regretting it - but kept his smile on his face. “I just found out about this place last Saturday. It’s really beautiful here.”
It was beautiful. They had reached a cliff from the shoreline, and below them they could hear the waves crashing against the cliff. Palm trees surrounded them, along with thick flower bushes. The scene was lovely to look at with the nice colors of pink and violet blending in around them with the colors of the sun setting. The smell of the ocean filling her nose with a hint of flower petals and grass.
Walking beside Hojo, they both sat down on the soft thick grass and watched the sun set. Her life felt so at peace and eventually she realized why he brought her here on a whim. It wasn’t because she was homesick, or hating her new life. Yes, she was changing from who she was - and she wasn’t liking that part one bit - but she had to remember where she came from. Who she was.
It was true that a new place could change a person in many ways, but only a weak mind can let that change the heart. She certainly was foolish. How could she have forgotten that important lesson her father taught her.
To never judge. To never assume. And to always live pure.
People will come and go, and some will stay. The heart will break apart, but also still remain. No one can change who you are, nobody. The scene can change, but the person inside yourself will always be the same. It is up to you to keep that part of your humanity or lose yourself.
How could she have been so stupid? She let this new world chew her up and spit her out, and with it she became just like everyone else. Who cared if people judged you if you lacked money. Who cared! She was rich in her own sense of wealth. She was Kagome!
Smiling in pride, she turned to her friend and gave him a huge embrace. “Thank you Hojo. I truly needed this.” She whispered.
Smiling, he returned her embrace and nodded. “No problem Kagome.”
Pulling away, they finally sat down in silence as they watched the sun set. It wasn’t long until finally Hojo brought up the curious question. “So, what made you doubt yourself?”
She blushed. How could she tell her friend, the guy who has always liked her since grade school, that she doubted herself because of another man? Well male yokai, technically speaking. But she knew she would have to say something, yet she couldn’t bring the words out.
“Is it because of another guy?” He chuckled, as if reading her mind.
She felt her lips tighten, and found herself burying her head between her arms and knees. Her face grew warm, and she knew she felt embarrassed to have been read so quickly. Finally, she responded. “Yes.”
“Want to talk about it?” He asked, feeling slightly hurt about the whole ordeal but he pushed his affections aside. “I know it may feel awkward, but maybe I can help. I am a guy.” He chuckled in an almost hurting tone.
“No, it’s fine.” She whispered. “He loves someone else.”
“Oh.” He winced at her words. Patting her back, he just let her keep to herself as he continued to watch the sun fading along the horizon.
“I’m a fool, you know.” She chuckled with tears. “When I first saw this guy, he was this handsome male who truly stood out from the crowd. I just couldn’t help but look at him in amazement, but when I found out how truly cold and heartless he is - I felt my heart shatter. It made no sense to feel my heart breaking when I barely even met the guy. But as the days go by and he kept coming more and more into my life, my heart just kept aching for him.” She sniffled, keeping her tears at bay to not let them fall. she felt bitter and hurt.
“I knew I was falling for him though. I tried not to, because I didn’t want to love a cold man, but I couldn’t help it. My heart just kept aching for him, and even though we finally kissed - he still loves her. He will always love her, and I am not sure I can handle that. I am not sure I want to handle that. How can I love someone so deeply, that will always keep me at second place? How? And not only that, he is nothing but full of mystery to me. And part of me fears it.” She finally let out her rage and pain, burying herself in a tight curl as she cried in the hollowness between her arms and knees.
Patting her back, he waited until she finally calmed down. He wasn’t sure what to tell her. Hell, hearing that she had her first kiss broke his own heart. Yet, he couldn’t stay mad. He didn’t feel hurt, and that’s what made this all strange. He should be upset and infuriated that a guy like that made his Kagome question herself and cry like this. Yet, here he was - just patting her back and comforting her the best he could.
“I’m a fool, Hojo.” She whispered finally bringing her head up. “Why couldn’t it have been you? Why couldn’t I have loved you instead?”
“Hey, it’s alright. You can’t control your heart. But if it makes you feel any better, I can try to help make you smile more while you’re here?” He offered gently. “Every night, I come here to see the sun set and stay to watch the stars for a moment. You can join me if you want, to help you calm your mind.”
Looking over to her childhood friend, she smiled and sniffled with a nod. “That sounds great Hojo. Thank you.”
“Don’t mention it, Kagome.”
Sitting in silence, unaware of the environment around them, the two of them sat in silence as they watched the stars together. She felt her heart slowly healing, and her mind finally reeling back to her normal self. She no longer felt confused but she still couldn’t help but feel why she changed so much since she saw Sesshomaru. It made no sense to her, and frankly all she wanted was to be back to herself again.
To feel like Kagome.
“I told you to find a way to get him to get on our side! You disappoint me yet again, Kouga!” Sado sneered over to his eldest son, stepping over to the fountain in the main courtyard of their traditional Japanese mansion.
Dressed in a simple luxury suit, Sado looked like an elder version of Kouga. But instead of the wild, curls his son held, Sado’s was straight, thick and course. Pulled back into a small ponytail, he gazed over to his son with his icy blue eyes. “We needed Sesshomaru on our side. The Kasai family will soon be out of reach, but with Taisho on our side, we can still be in charge! Do you understand the circumstances we will be put through once the Lady of Kasai dies? We lose the contract and risk everything to the Kasai family! They are the only ones who have our back against the law! Gah! I sometimes wonder if you even listen to your father!”
Standing in silence, Kouga continued to listen to the yelling and ranting being done to him. How was he to tell his father that he wanted no part in this anymore? He lost two of his best friends because of this childish warfare. He wanted out. He wanted to be done with this!
All his life, he was tormented by his father. If he wasn’t cruel enough, or a mean bully - he was beaten. How could the heir of the yakuza be such a weakling. He needed to be feared. Respected.
But that just wasn’t him.
Yeah, he was a leader, but this wasn’t what he wanted to lead though. This just wasn’t his calling and he was growing tired of the meaningless fights.
Freedom beckoned around the corner for the Kasai family, and soon he would never have to see the prick of a hanyou known as Naraku ever again. Same goes for the Taisho family! Soon, they will all be out of his life and he couldn’t wait.
But for the moment, he stood in silence as he waited for the final words he knew were coming. Those two words that he knew he would feel that stick colliding with his spine. The beating that was just waiting for him after his father was finally done.
Counting down the seconds, he waited until all he heard was silence. Looking up, he noticed his father staring at him with those cold deadly eyes. Swallowing, he showed no fear but was trembling inside. “Yes, otousama?”
“We need them, my son.” Those two words he hadn’t heard from his father in over five years. Son. How foreign they even sounded to the both of them. “Find a way to make them submit!”
How? How was he to do that? Sesshomaru and Naraku weren’t the ones to easily submit to anyone, hell he was sure they wouldn’t submit even if you chained them up and threatened to take their life! How was he to do any of that? Was his father truly insane?
“Take him.”
Those cold hearted words finally left his father’s lips. The memories of the pain of having that thick stick beating down onto his back, colliding against his spine and shoulders. Swallowing, he watched the very familiar heavy set wolf yokai heading towards him with that shady grin.
‘Take him’ Those were the words he knew since he turned four. His mind racing, he knew he had to either obey his father’s wishes or deal with the consequences for eternity. His life was hell.
The days were breezing by, and the temperature of the island was rising slowly. It was warm enough to play in the ocean for short moments though. The island truly held a remarkable beauty and Kagome couldn’t help but enjoy the scenery in silence - alone - at times.
Still, with the great news that her cousin was faring well, her late night visits with Hojo, and keeping her avoidance with Sesshomaru - everything was going very well. She loved it.
That was until she heard a couple voices from her bedroom. It was early dawn, and from the looks of it, Sesshomaru already left the room. Curious to who may be awake at this time, she carefully walked over to her door and slowly opened it to keep the bright sun from hitting her eyes. Squinting, she finally caught who the voices belonged to.
Satomi and Sesshomaru.
Both laughing. Wait - Sesshomaru is laughing! Of course, it wasn’t loud or very obvious, but he was smiling and chuckling with Satomi as they whispered among themselves in the kitchen.
Her heart dropped to her stomach and she felt her entire body shaking. She was feeling so anxious with what she was seeing. How could he have lied to her? There definitely was something going on between the two! How could he have denied it straight to her face than kiss her?
She felt her heart break, but it didn’t end there when she saw Satomi grab onto Sesshomaru’s hand and led them to the door. Where were they going?
Tears on the brink of falling, confusion filling her once more, she watched as both her cousin and Sess left the bungalow and leave who-knows-where! Shutting her bedroom door, she raced over to her bed and slid into the thick covers. She silently began to cry to herself. The pain she was feeling was unbelievable.
Why was she feeling this? He showed no more interest in her the second they had that second kiss! She shouldn’t care about him anymore, but yet here she was - feeling her heart break and her stomach tighten in knots at the idea of Sesshomaru and Satomi leaving - alone together.
Meanwhile, the young heiress and ice prince walked down the wooden dock that hovered above the ocean. The crisp air felt great against Sesshomaru’s skin, as well as Satomi’s as they walked closer to the ore secluded part of the island where all the trees and secret beaches laid.
It was their escape from everything.
Literally.
Smiling, and reminiscing about the past, the two fell into a comfortable silence as they finally reached their secret base. The make-shift fort was still standing, and the ocean’s water brushing against the white sand was still just as beautiful as they first remembered.
This was their sanctuary. Their heaven away from everyone. Especially Miyo.
They both remembered the first day they all had came to this island. It was the Taisho, Kasai, Shichiinitai and Hayashi family vacation. Every summer they all came here for half the summer to just blow time off. Since their families also had business here, the elders usually left the children alone with their mothers.
It was also then that Satomi and Sesshomaru adventured around the island in search for a hiding place. The one place no one knew about except for them. There were other hiding places for them and the others, but this one was the most secretive of all.
“Did you bring the blanket?” Satomi asked with a smile.
Nodding, he pulled the blanket out from the basket he held in his hands. Grabbing the edges, he opened the blanket up, watching it wave with the wind until finally hitting the sandy ground. Placing the basket beside the blanket, he helped Satomi sit down and they both stared out into the ocean that was barely creeping in by the opened from the two large cliffs that blocked the rest of the view. The place truly was secluded.
“Ow!” Satomi cursed softly before reaching into her back pocket to pull out her phone. Sighing, she rubbed her butt from having sitting on it very uncomfortably. Placing her cell to the side without bothering to look at it, she brought her attention back to Sess. “Remember when we use to runaway here to hide away from Miyo? This was our one sanctuary to hide away from our parent’s wrath. It seems both our mothers have no care for us whatsoever. So, are you going to tell me what’s really wrong?”
“I have no idea what you are talking about.” Sesshomaru stated simply.
“Oh don’t give me that bull.” She glared. “Ever since we left the ski resort, you have been acting very weird. It’s not like you Sess.”
Silence still sat between them. Sighing, the heiress decided on a new tactic. “Was it Miyo?”
A tick in his jaw answered her question. “Ah, so that’s what’s been eating at you. We both know how she is Sess. She won’t stop until she has her claws in her, controlling you, literally! Fucking bitch just needs to kick the bucket already. I’m getting sick of her using your and abusing you.”
“What more can I do Satomi. She controlled every single thing in my life. If I so much as defied her, she would have gotten Rin.” Sesshomaru confessed. “I did what I had to do. And that was endure the drugs she gave me to weaken me, and deal with the abuse.”
“It’s not right though! If only yokai law was the same as human law! That the abuse of the children will still be justified and the parent will have justice reigned upon them! It’s not fair! I swear! The next time she lays her hands on you, I’m going to kill her!” Satomi vented, feeling her heart racing with rage.
“Calm down, Mimi-chan. Don’t stress out the baby.” He cautioned.
“Sess?”
“Yeah?” He looked over to see a very confused, yet determined Satomi beside him.
“What else has that bitch done that you aren’t telling me?” She finally asked.
“What you already know. She beats me. Drugs me. And restricts my powers when I’m in her grasp.” He stated firmly, making sure not to hint that there is more behind those abuses. The healing restriction was just one of them. The restriction on his powers was another done to him when she would rape him.
It was a reason why he was glad for these vacations. Without her near him, or her clutches in him, he was back to his restored strength and felt like his true yokai self. His scars and beating marks on him vanished, and all that was left was the remarkable flawless skin that he loved seeing. No scars to remind him of his hellish life.
Except the memories…
Those were the only things that remained with him while he kept his distance from Miyo. He rather have scars and wounds being rubbed in lemon-salt, than be reminded of those terrible memories that will forever haunt him.
“You’re lying.” Satomi calmly said, keeping her gaze locked onto him. Swallowing hard, she finally looked to the blanket below them and felt her heart break. “You never lied to me, Sess. Why start now? What are you hiding?”
How could he have forgotten? He should smack himself for even trying to lie in front of Satomi. She was the only one to catch him in a lie while even a lie detector wouldn’t even catch. How could he have been so careless?
Keeping silent, he just shrugged his shoulders and kept his own gaze to the ocean’s bay. “I don’t know what you expect me to say, Mimi-chan.”
“The truth.” She stated firmly. “You must truly take me for a fool, Sess. I knew you were hiding something the second you went to Bankotsu’s house when we were barely twelve years old. You couldn’t even look me in the eye since then. Just tell me the truth.”
So, she wasn’t stupid. How could he have mistaken her for such? He thought that by keeping this dreadful secret in silence, Satomi would never have to worry but he was wrong. Oh how wrong he truly was. He knew he would have to say something, but he wasn’t sure if he could. He kept this secret away from her all these years to protect her.
Or was it to protect himself?
“Sess?”
Looking over, he witnessed the longing, watery hazel orbs that belonged to his Mimi-chan - waiting for him to open up. She never left his side, so why would she start now? She never judged him, so why start now?
She always had his back. She was always there to take the pain away. So, why would she ever betray him? It was foolish to think he was truly alone when he knew for a fact that he wasn’t and that he didn’t have to fight this battle alone either.
Swallowing the lump in his throat, he gathered the courage to finally speak. “Are you sure?” He asked in an almost hushed voice.
Nodding, she moved closer to him and placed a hand on his shoulder. “Yeah, I’m sure.”
Silence.
The seconds ticked and he had yet to spill.
Tension rising. Heart racing. Thoughts falling apart. Everything would soon come to light and he wasn’t sure he was ready for that.
He wasn’t sure he was ready to fight the battle alongside someone else.
All his life, he fought alone. He stayed alone. He never had to worry about endangering someone else. But all that was a lie.
Every little part was a lie as he sat there trying to gather the courage to speak.
He was never alone. He had friends who were ready to fight with him, and free him from the tormenting grasp that clutched onto his very life. He was never alone, and this he knew. He had people who truly cared for him, but why was this so hard to speak of?
Why was this so hard to talk about?
Suddenly, it was like he didn’t even have to speak. He felt a strong embrace from his childhood friend. His comrade. His savior.
His first love.
Holding him tightly, she cried silently into his shoulder. “She molests you, doesn’t she?”
It was obvious. The signs were there of sexual abuse. How could she have been so blind? How?
Crying against her best friend, she felt him clutching onto her tightly to dear life. Shaking drastically, she knew he was trying his hardest not to let out a single tear. A Taisho doesn’t cry.
And that broke her heart even more.
“You aren’t alone Sess. Don’t fight alone.” She spoke gently with a shaking voice. “We’ll fight with you. I promise!” She fumed behind clenched teeth, feeling rage pouring into her soul at the image of Miyo burning before her eyes.
A Hayashi never breaks a promise. The bitch will see hell, even if she died to make it happen.
The bungalow was calm and quiet, since everyone had decided to go and venture off to the beach and enjoy the bright sun outside. Kagome had remained in the bungalow though as she sat in silence with her heart breaking. How can she love someone whose heart clearly belonged to someone else? She was a fool!
Wiping away her tears the second she heard the door click, she quickly patted her face to fight her tears away before anyone saw. Looking over, she saw Sango walking inside with a frustrated look. Furrowing her brows, she quickly raced up to see to her friend. “Sango?”
Blinking in shock, she clutched her heart and sighed in relief. “Oh, Kagome! It’s you! I thought no one was in the bungalow.”
“Nope. Wasn’t feeling too well, so I didn’t leave with everyone.” She spoke gently, while keeping an eye on the brown eyed slayer. “Are you alright, Sango?”
Her lips formed into a tight lip smile, trying her hardest not to break down. She nodded in response but it was too late. Tears began to fall. “I’ll be alright.”
“Sango! What’s wrong?” Kagome quickly asked while placing her arm around Sango’s shoulders and taking her over to the sofa in the living room. Sitting down, she waited for her friend to calm down as she began to pour into a fight of sobs.
“I’m so sick of this. Why can’t people just bud out of people’s love affairs? Why must everything be looked at and inspected to make sure it matches their standards? I am so sick of it, Kagome! I just want to love the one man who has saved my life and loved me since we first saw each other. Why can’t anyone just leave us be?” Sango sobbed, clutching onto her dear friend. “I love him, Kagome. I love him so much.”
“Whose making thing difficult, Sango?” Kagome asked softly, patting her friend’s back.
“Kohaku and Miroku. They are being so judgmental because of who Naraku is. But I never once judged them for their girlfriends. Not once! Not even when Kohaku had his moment of being unfaithful to Rin-chan! I was there to mend their relationship, and honestly they are stronger than before - even though they are still young! They are intended for crying out!” Sango continued to vent out. “You would think he would be on my side and support my love choice, but no! He wants to be a brat and tell me I can’t be with Naraku because Naraku is a evil man! Bull!”
“Sango, calm down hun. You don’t want to overwork yourself.” Kagome tried to reason, but failed miserably as Sango pushed away and got up onto her feet.
“No! I refuse to calm down until they come to reason! Naraku has not once hurt me! He never done anything to even assume such! He has protected me since we first met, and has always looked after me! I fell for him the second I laid eyes on him, and I knew he was the one! But my brother objects my relationship just like my father will object. I hate it! I am sick and tired of it! I just want my life to be my own life!” Sango cried out, wiping her tears from her face and trying her hardest to catch her breath.
Suddenly, the front door opened slowly and in came Kohaku with a sadden expression. Both girls looked over at the young male, expecting him to continue on his rampage about how his sister couldn’t date Naraku. But instead, he stood there in silence until he finally spoke only to have his words buried by his sister’s cries.
“I hate you! I hate you! I hate you! Leave me alone! Just go away!” Sango shouted out, threatening to find something and throw at her brother.
“Sango! Please! Let me say something!” Kohaku tried to shout back, but all he saw was the misery in his sister’s eyes seconds before she finally collided to the floor and held herself as her body wracked with sobs.
“Don’t make me leave him. Don’t make me, or I will make you all regret it.” She promised in her broken cries.
Watching in silence, Kagome watched as Kohaku walked slowly towards his sister. She watched him carefully until both their eyes locked onto each other. “I’m an idiot.” He voiced, finally looking down at his big sister. “I was worried more about my own opinion, I never took my sister’s happiness in thought. Sango, I’m sorry. Please forgive me.”
“Why should I?” She sobbed, not wanting to believe anything her brother had to say. Looking to her best friend, she closed her eyes the second she felt Kagome rush to her side and embrace her into a hug. She wanted to be happy. It was all she ever wanted.
She watched her mother drive herself to misery before finally ending her life with a razor. She watched their mother live day and night, trapped in the house, to never see a soul unless it was her or her brother. Their father made sure she never spoke to another male, and eventually her mother was driven mad by the isolation.
She remembered that day like it was yesterday, coming upstairs to speak to her mother only to see a lifeless corpse in a pool of blood. How could anyone be so cruel to deny someone happiness? To deny them a life? She vowed to never do such a thing. She vowed to always see a smile on her brother’s face. Always.
But who would have thought that her happiness would be the price to pay? It was unfair.
“Sango.”
Her sobs began to calm as she heard her brother’s voice. She prayed for a miracle. She hoped for it. Looking into his eyes, she saw tears clouding her light brown eyes. “What?”
“I was a fool to deny you your life.” He calmly spoke. “I’m so sorry, please forgive my foolishness.”
Wiping her tears, she nodded with a smile. “Do you mean it?”
“Of course I do, silly. I always mean what I say unless I have a change of heart on the perspective.” He smiled back.
Letting go of her friend, Kagome slowly pushed away to give both siblings time alone. Smiling at the new situation, she quickly left to her room to have time alone to herself. Taking in a couple deep breaths, she finally made her way to the bed until she noticed her cell phone blinking.
Curious, she grabbed her cell and touched the side button to look who might have texted or called. Tilting her head in confusion, she noticed a voicemail notification, but no phone call to follow along with. Thinking it strange, she dialed her voicemail box, and waited to hear the message.
Sitting in silence, hearing the answering machine speak, she paused as she noticed the phone number being said to her. “Satomi called?” Even more curious, she waited on wondering what her cousin could have possibly wanted.
“Ow!” A sigh followed after her cousin’s voice. “Remember when we used to runaway to this place-”
Listening to the words, she noticed that her cousin may have accidentally called her, having her answering machine pick up on a very private conversation. She knew she should stop listening, delete the message and hang up - but she couldn’t bring herself to. Her body wouldn’t obey any of her commands as she sat there listening to her cousin and the one man she fell hard for.
Alone.
The two of them were talking like no care in the world, that was until the conversation began to get a bit dark. Sitting in silence, she listened to every word being spoken. She even raised her volume to hear the soft whispers being said. Her heart breaking into a million pieces, she felt like the hugest, biggest idiot and jerk ever on this planet.
She judged their relationship without knowing the facts.
Everything was making sense. They were childhood friends, yes. But they held a bond stronger than most friendships. They had a trauma they both shared - making them closer because of it. How could she have been so foolish to think that they shared something more than just friendship?
They held a bond because of the fear they lived as children.
She felt her heart breaking more, and for once she hated herself for being the way she was.
She hated herself for being such an idiot and judging anyone. How could she be like that?
Feeling tears falling down to her lap, she held in her breath the second she heard the worst part of the conversation. Dropping her cell phone, she raced out of the bedroom and into the bathroom. Her stomach tensing, she kneeled by the toilet until everything inside spilled out into the porcelain bowl.
‘Fix this!’
How? She thought to herself. How could she fix her stupidity? How could she fix all of this?
How?
I hope this clears up a few things. Any questions, like I said - leave a review with your email address or email me or message me if you can. I'll help clear a few things with you without spoiling anything.
