Chapter 22
Inu no Taisho had finally decided, �I
will use Sounga for the war, but after that it needs
to be sent back to hell and locked there.�
�No problem, I already have the
spell for that,� Kagome said.
Midoriko had told her how to accomplish this
to where the sword would be returned even if something happened to her.� Midoriko knew the
chances of Kagome�s survival and that the sword would have to be returned.� Kagome walked into the field and began to
chant the spell Midoriko had taught her.� Everyone watched as she was surrounded by
light, they could feel power pulse around her.
Then the black orb appeared above her and she reached
in.� They all gasped when she pulled her
hand out with Sounga firmly in her grasp.� Inuyasha tensed
when he saw the sword, remembering what it had done to him.� He even felt Sesshomaru
tense a little at the sight of the sword.�
Kagome called Inu no Taisho to her and handed
him the sword with no problems.
�Here you go, when the war is over the sword will be sent
back, even if I am not among the survivors,� Kagome said.
Inu no Taisho gave her a quick hug then
turned his attention to the sword.� It
had been a long time since he had wielded it, he could feel the familiar pulse
of the sword.� He could hear the voice
trying to control him, but failing miserably.
�So Inu no
Taisho we meet again.�
�Sounga.�
�Are you ready to listen to me
now?� Are you ready to follow the path to
ultimate power?�
�You know you cannot control me, so
be silent and enjoy the war we are about to fight.�
�A war?�
�Yes, you have been summoned long
enough for me to fight in a war with your assistance.�
�Very well.�
We shall see if you can resist me after the war.�
Inu no Taisho just smirked at the
sword.� Now it would be silent and let
him get on with the war.� It had no idea
that after the war it would be sent back to hell.� He lifted to sword to inspect it.� The blade looked like it had just been
polished and there wasn�t a single scratch from the battle with his sons.
�Well, why don�t you give it a try?� Kagome said stepping
back, �Do you want to try against me or would you rather just test it�s power alone?�
�Do you honestly believe that you can block an attack from Sounga?�� Inu no Taisho asked uncertainty clear in his voice.
Kagome smirked, �Try me.�
Sesshomaru rushed forward in that instant, �I
don�t think so.� You said yourself you
are not invincible, you cannot continue to test yourself this way.�
�Koi, this way is to test my
limits.� How can I know exactly what I
can do unless I try?� Trust me, once the
attack is unleashed I will know if I can block it or get out of the way.� I know I can�t die yet, I have a mission to
fulfill first and hopefully I will survive after the mission to live a happy
and peaceful life with you.� I need to
know my limits.�
�Unfortunately, she is right son.� She needs to test her limits to know how far
she can go, I taught you that lesson years ago.�
You need to trust her and let her try.�
Sesshomaru looked between his father and his
mate worry evident on his face.� He
wanted to trust her, but he was afraid her would lose her.
�I know she is your mate and you feel the instinctual need to
protect her, but the circumstances in your mating are different.� You mated a strong woman that can take care
of herself better than anyone.� In fact
the usual circumstances where you would have to dominate her are not
there.� You two chose to mate out of
love, not dominance.� She needs to know
her limits before the war.�
Sesshomaru was still unsure, but what his
father said made sense.� Their mating did
not involve the battle for dominance to prove he was stronger and therefore her
alpha.� They had mated because they loved
each other, so he pushed back his fear and stepped back to rejoin the group
watching his mate and father go to the center of the field.� He could smell that even his father was
nervous, but they had to test this.
Kagome and Inu no Taisho walked to
the center of the field and each took a side of the field giving plenty of room
for Kagome to move should the need arise.�
Kagome spread her barrier farther out knowing the extent of the damage Sounga could cause.�
Once she had spread the barrier out far enough she looked back at Inu no Taisho and nodded that she was ready.
Everyone watched anxiously.�
Sesshomaru could smell the anxiety and fear
coming off of them.� It was so thick it
was almost suffocating; most of the anxiety and fear were coming from Inuyasha, the only other person there that knew what Sounga was capable of.�
Sesshomaru almost jumped in surprise when he
felt a clawed hand slip into his and squeeze.�
He looked down to see Inuyasha�s hand in his
giving it a reassuring squeeze.
Sesshomaru looked up at Inuyasha
and nodded his thanks for the support.�
He also had a feeling that Inuyasha was doing
it to keep him from intervening.� They
both turned back to the field silently offering comfort to each other.� Sesshomaru was
grateful for his brother at the moment if he didn�t have that little comfort he
probably would be ready to jump out of his skin by now.
Kouga watched his mate and Sesshomaru in surprise.�
He knew what they were doing, but at the moment he was confused.� They had both been nervous since the sword
had come out of Kagome�s orb.� What was
it about the sword that made even Sesshomaru
nervous?� He turned back to face the
field waiting to see what would happen.�
Everything was completely silent, then he felt it, the power from the
sword pulsed causing his eyes to widen.
Kouga had never felt anything like this, the power coming off the sword was so much different
from anything he had ever felt.� The
sword seemed to have and energy of its own, like it had a soul.� He could only sense a small amount of Inu no Taisho�s power going into the sword.� Everyone seemed to be holding their breath,
waiting.� Then it happened.
�Dragon Twister!� Inu no
Taisho yelled and the immense power shot from the sword.
Everyone watched in shock as the field was torn apart, debris
flying everywhere.� The twister caused a
chill to run up their spines.� Everything
seemed to move in slow motion, the twister heading straight for Kagome, leaving
a deep ditch in its wake.� Kagome stood
her ground and watched as the attack drew near.�
Everyone looked on in horror as Kagome was suddenly engulfed by the
twister.
The twister stopped where Kagome stood and Inu no Taisho watched in fascination as a blue light shot
from the twister in every direction.� The
blue light continued to grow and spread until the twister completely vanished,
leaving only the blue light.� They all
watched as the light started to fade revealing Kagome standing in the center of
it completely unscathed by the attack.
Inu no Taisho was frozen in place, he had never seen anyone survive that attack let
alone stop it in its tracks.� She didn�t
even have a scratch on her from the attack.�
Sounga was furious and ranting about the
failed attack.� Sounga
did not like the fact that anyone could thwart his attack.� Inu no Taisho
completely ignored Sounga�s ranting and shook off his
shock and smiled at his new daughter.
He watched as Sesshomaru ran to his
mate and looked her over for any injuries.�
Everyone else was still stuck to the spot amazed at what they had just
witnessed.� That sword had such immense
power and Kagome had managed to stop the attack without any problem.� Inuyasha was even
more shocked than the rest, he had felt the attack from Sounga
first hand and he couldn�t believe that Kagome had managed to stop it.
�Inuyasha, what kind of sword is
that?� Kouga asked snapping him out of his trance.
Inuyasha turned to his mate seeing the
confusion in his eyes.� He took a deep
breath and told Kouga about their last encounter with
Sounga.� Kouga and the others listened completely shocked by the
story of the sword.� When Inuyasha finished his story Kouga�s
eyes were wide as saucers.

Sesshomaru pulled Kagome into his arms, his
heart still pounding in his chest.� He
was still upset, he had thought for sure that the
dragon twister had killed her when it engulfed her.� He sensed his father approaching and tried to
reign in his fear.� They both turned to
see Inu no Taisho standing a few feet away with a
smile on his face.
�My daughter, you truly are full of surprises,� he said
pulling her in to hug her feeling pride swell within him.
�That was actually a little easier than I figured it would
be.� Why don�t we go have some dinner and
spend time with the children?� I think
that was enough for today.� You seem to
have no problem with Sounga, so a break won�t kill
us.� Besides everyone is going to need
their rest for what I have planned for tomorrow�s training,� Kagome said
smiling.
Both Sesshomaru and Inu no Taisho glanced nervously at each other.� What was she planning?� Sesshomaru could
already tell he wasn�t going to like it, and from the look on his father�s face
he felt the same.�

Dinner was nice and the conversations were upbeat despite the
fact that the war was almost upon them.� Inu no Taisho spent most of the time catching up with his
sons happy to have the chance to do so.�
It almost brought tears to his eyes to see his two sons grown up and
happily mated.� His grandchildren were
also a joy, he couldn�t help but smile at their
antics.� He was almost sad when Kagome
announced that it was their bedtime.� He
followed Sesshomaru and Kagome upstairs to the
children�s rooms.
�Mama can you sing us songs?� Shippo asked.
�I suppose you can each choose a song, what do you want me to
sing?� Kagome asked sitting them both on Rin�s bed.
�I want to hear I Don�t Want to Be in Love, Shippo says it�s good,� Rin
chirped happily.
�I want to hear the new one you wrote,� Shippo
replied.
�Well their not exactly bedtime songs but I guess that is
ok.� Shippo go
get the stereo and CD�s,� Kagome said.
Both of the children cheered and Shippo
took off to go get her stereo and CD�s.� Sesshomaru explained to his father about Kagome�s singing
and equipment quickly while Shippo was gone.� Inu no Taisho
looked at his son confused but simply nodded and leaned against the doorframe
to watch.� Shippo
came skipping back into the room and Kagome set everything up as he crawled
back up onto the bed.

�� When
Kagome had finished the first song Inu no Taisho was
stunned.� He had never heard music like
that before and the words were true,
is the only way he could explain it.� Her
voice sounded angelic to his ears.� He
didn�t have much time to comment however as she started the next song for Shippo.

�� When Kagome finished her song she
kissed each of the kids before picking up Shippo to
take him to his room.� Sesshomaru walked into the room to tuck Rin
in and Inu no Taisho stood still in shock.� Kagome�s music seemed to have so much more
relevance than any other song�s he had ever heard before.� The sounds were also very interesting to him, it was so different and yet sounded great.
�� After a minute he managed to snap
himself out of his trance and went in to tell his granddaughter goodnight.� He then followed Sesshomaru
to Shippo�s room and watched his son as he told the
kit goodnight, before he went in to tell him goodnight as well.� He still was amazed to see his cold son show
any emotion.� He had honestly never
expected Sesshomaru to have a family, especially the
way he used to act, but he was truly proud of his son now.
