Chapter 22: Death
-Borders-
"Well I suppose it's a good thing that they can't sense us coming." Miroku said trying to ease up the…what was he easing up? Tension? Both squabbled sometimes like siblings...not that he'd ever say so. He gave Sango credit sometimes…she had the bal…err…nerve to speak to Sesshomaru like that. Maybe it was because she was a female? Maybe.
"Daichi." Sesshomaru said looking into the horizon, eyes narrowed in at the palace showing. Kagome was in there somewhere. The bastard would die painfully if she was in chains or if he done something worse to her.
"Right." Daichi said.
"What'd he say?" Miroku asked scratching his head. Sango shrugged and said she wanted to go first since Kagome said (perhaps it was a present day thing) that, "It's ladies first."
'…'
Fine. Whatever. She could do as she wished—Miroku was there to keep an eye on her so she didn't do anything dangerous. The small group walked towards the castle. Warning bells sounded as soldiers made their way over to them. Some scoffed that they could be taken out easily. What was the west thinking? They didn't bring an army….and what the hell? They brought a woman with them?
"Oh no he didn't…" Sango said. She bristled like an angry cat and took to the skies with Kirara—Miroku telling her to come back down, or at least let him sit too so he could use his wind-tunnel. He muttered something but everyone ignored this. They had made a plan earlier on who would do what.
Sesshomaru was sure Kagome was getting information from the Daimyo so she could make an escape. It annoyed him sometimes when she said she could take care of herself and wouldn't always rely on someone to 'save her' like she was a damsel in distress. Must be a trait from the future. He caught her scent and the Daimyo's and his eyes narrowed, walking towards them in quiet stealth while wiping out the soldiers that were in his way with his sword along the way. Fools. Apparently they hadn't had much knowledge about the demon-kind. He was almost there and he heard Kagome's voice asking him about exits and entrances. He smirked—a sense of calm in him now-That was his mate.
-Inuyasha- (dungeons)
"Kikyo! Where are you?! My love! Come and let's 'do away' with Sesshomaru and his arrogance! " he called out loud while banging on his chains. Damn these were tight. The guard came over and raised an eyebrow at him. Inuyasha growled at his audacity to look at him like that.
"Keep down that racket prince. You're disturbing that others peace." A guard said and was about to leave to go back to his post when he stopped.
"Peace?! Peace? What peace? Wait till I get outta here I'm going to give you piece of my mind!" Inuyasha roared. Then he stopped and said, "…Wait what about Aika? What happened to her? What is he going to do with her?"
He stopped to choose the right words and after a long moment said, "Sesshomaru is not amused with her behavior." and walked off. Inuyasha slumped back into his chains; a shiver ran down his spine. Aika was a dead demoness…..and so was he. He had never doubted his older half-brother.
He lived by his words and carried them out….and that's what he respected about him.
-Sango- (up in the air)
How dare those archers shoot at her like that! She was a lady! She swung her boomerang effectively killing more than one at a time. Okay so they were human—and her kind- but they were holding Kagome hostage and trying to kill her. Kirara roared as she blew her fire and killed along with her mistress. Truly the two made a good pair.
Miroku looked up at her (while using his wind-tunnel) and sighed. His Sango was beautiful especially when she was enraged and in action….and she was all his. They were almost done here. The Daimyo didn't have as many guards as he'd originally thought. He wondered what Sesshomaru was up to. He'd probably caught up to Kagome now.
He looked towards Daichi who was easily swinging his sword as if it was nothing. Well he was an assassin. He'd guess his whole family was as good as he was. So it was Daichi, Takeshi...and Kagome had said they had a little sister by the name of Hanako. Well she couldn't have been a warrior right? He knew it was best not to ask since her protective 'older brothers' might wonder why exactly he was asking about her. Daichi called his name out and Miroku broke out of his thoughts.
-Sesshomaru-
He was leaning against the wall and said something that made Kagome want to jump for joy and run straight into his arms. "Hnn..."
"Sesshomaru!" she was about to run when the Daimyo held her back. Sesshomaru's eyes narrowed. He was going to lose his arm for that.
The Daimyo stood in front of Kagome and pulled his sword out. Sesshomaru raised an eyebrow. Great. Foolish human was already pulling out weapons and he hadn't even moved. "So I finally have the honor of meeting the great and powerful Sesshomaru of the west." He said it in an insulting manner.
"Came for what you think is yours mutt? Why didn't you F** that bitch Aika who is of your kind? I did use her….but I guess you figured that out by now. Were you cruel enough to kill her and her baby? You're kind never did have any honor anyway…just kill anyone and everyone that pisses you off."
Kagome was grinning at him from behind. Using profanity in front of a lady and insulting Sesshomaru. The Daimyo was like…so dead. Even Inuyasha knew better than to irritate Sesshomaru that much. She wondered whether she should participate and purify him from the back while Sesshomaru 'hacked him' into pieces with his sword.
"So mate. How should I annihilate this insect? This Sesshomaru will let you decide." He said. This human was aggravating him. He just wanted this to be over so they could leave. He didn't want Kagome in the midst of fighting, danger and dead bloody bodies. He was going to make sure she got a full body check-up from a healer when they got home.
He was broken out of his thoughts when the Daimyo laughed at him. You would let your woman decide what to do? What are you a grown male or a little puppy-dog?"
That's it…he was dead. Sesshomaru pulled out his sword and swung his sword, effectively cutting off his arm like he said he would. Laying his filthy hands on Kagome. Grr…..
The Daimyo screamed in pain and Kagome took this opportunity to discreetly run away from him and stood by Sesshomaru. His aura and appearance just gave her a sense of calm. Not to mention his sexy cold voice that…. Umm…back to killing the Daimyo!
"I don't get it." The Daimyo said wincing in pain. "….why do you love a human? She will perish and die before you do! That whole 'marking her will make her live a long life' is a bunch of rubbish. Lies!" He said falling to the ground. Damn Sesshomaru for taking his arm off….that was his good arm where he swung his sword!
"Or is it?" Sesshomaru asked walking closer to him. The Daimyo looked up confused as he pulled out poison darts to throw at him. Sesshomaru moved away, knocking one back with his sword back towards the Daimyo"….too slow human." The dart going into the Daimyo-his yell of pain even hurt Kagome's ears as she covered them. Sesshomaru then swung his sword and beheaded the Daimyo-him falling lifeless to the ground. Kagome looked down at the Daimyo and back at Sesshomaru. "You know you should've…." Then she stopped and hugged him tightly to make sure he was really here and not just a dream.
"Hnn…."
She backed away from him and asked, "So who's here?" He told her and said they'd meet up at the main entrance to go back home and that there was some unfinished business to take care of. Kagome didn't say a word.
She knew that there were some things even she couldn't argue with. He was their ruler and sometimes he had to set examples and carry out things that she hated. She bit her lip and walked next to him.
"wait-a-minute!" Kagome said suddenly, hands on her hips now. "…Where were you? what took you so long huh?" she poked him and said (then pointing at the dead Daimyo now) "He's dead… but he tied me up in a bed! And said such dirty things to me that made my ears bleed…I will never be able to erase that from my mind ever!" she said pouting.
He ignored this, smirking and picked her up in his arms, inhaling her scent-while she ranted on and on about him and his slow-ness of saving his 'beloved mate.' In truth, she probably just wanted a kiss or something else….Hnn…maybe later after her check-up.
-Main entrance-
Kagome and Sesshomaru walked side-by-side as she saw Sango touch down on the ground with Kirara. She was smiling. "Kagome!" Sango said waving merrily at her like she hadn't just killed a couple hundred people. She ran up and hugged her asking if she was okay, was the Daimyo dead? Cause she wanted a piece of him too.
Miroku walked behind her and shook his head. "Lady Kagome." Miroku said nodding.
"Your Highness." Daichi said bowing.

Lady Nefertiti: Well the daimyo's dead as well as the entire castle….headed back west. what's next? TBC….please read and review! thanks.
