By popular vote, I will continued how I've been doing! I feel it is also best this way, because every character has an impact on our two main ones. No matter what role they play - and what's not best than actually seeing their true character come to life?
Again, thanks for the reviews and ratings! Enjoy!
Tokyo, Japan
“Have you heard from my son?” Miyo questioned one of the servants.
“No, Miyo-sama.” The elderly gentleman answered with a respectful bow.
“Typical. You would think the brat and his friends would come back from their vacation. It has been a week and they have yet to show their faces. Maybe a visit would be very much necessary.” Miyo stated to herself, packing up a few of her belongings into one of her several duffle bags. “But sadly, that will have to wait. My dear friend, Kirai-san has fallen ill.”
Looking over to the servant, she inhaled her almost falling tears and placed on her fakest smile. “What are you standing around for? Hurry and place all these bags in my vehicle. You don’t get paid to just stand there and stare.” Scoffing, she rolled her eyes and finished zipping her last bag. Leaving her room for the maids and servants to deal with them, she made her way to the day room downstairs.
Dialing her friends number, she waited after a few rings went through until finally someone picked up. “Miyo-san! It’s been so long since we last talked!” A overly, excited feminine voice shouted over on the other line.
“Indeed it has, Sakura-san. Oh, how I’ve missed you so. How goes your marriage with Daisuke?” Miyo rolled her eyes in boredom. She knew what was going on between the Hayashi family. Daisuke announced his divorce to Sakura, and even kicked her out the mansion. The girl was currently living with a guy she had been dating for the past couple months. But it didn’t hurt in gaining some of that information from the horse itself. There was something so humiliating hearing it first hand from the person suffering.
“Well, as you know, me and Daisuke are in the process of divorcing. And from the looks of it all, I am gaining nothing from this shitty marriage. Oh, and my daughter finally had me sign the rights to her away. Thank the gods for that. Such a needy child.” Sakura drooled in irritation. “I should have gotten that abortion years ago!”
“True, but you did tell me that since you couldn’t get Daisuke’s brother, Ryuu, you had to settle for the second son instead. Whatever happened with Ryuu? I heard he married a commoner whore.” Miyo grinned, loving the moment of this.
“He died in some accident. I don’t very much car for it, just glad the bitch of a whore isn’t married to him anymore. He deserved better. I heard he gave two child to the bitch.” Sakura stated annoyingly.
“I heard that as well. Ryuu was such a handsome man. I would have loved to have him as well, but sadly he prefers cheap stuff. I’m heartbroken that he’s dead though. When was this?” Miyo asked nonchalantly.
“A week before my birthday. I think in June of 2008, is when he bit the dust. Poor sucker.” Sakura shrugged. “If he didn’t marry that whore, I would have been with him and actually remained kinda loyal to him.” She snickered lightly.
“You, loyal? I highly doubt that.” Miyo chuckled. “You would bed the next handsome guy with the right load of cash.”
“You’re right.” Sakura smirked. “Well, when are you heading out to go see Kirai? I hear she doesn’t have long.”
“I’m actually on my way there. She is currently residing in the Kasai summer home. From what I’ve gathered, we can stay the while there with her in the left side of the mansion. Natsu wants nothing to do with us, pity. The man is such a delicious morsel. I wouldn’t mind biting into that.” Miyo gave a moaning laugh.
“I hear he’s single. Might be the best bet, since I am sure him and Kirai haven’t slept since Naraku’s birth. He’s probably all pent up from all those years of no sex.” Sakura grinned. “Oh, before I let you go, have you gotten a hold of Misaki?”
“Kakutama Misaki?”
“Yes, who else would I be talking about?” Sakura smirked.
“Nothing. But yes, I already called her and she said she was already there with Kirai. And from what I’ve gathered, Sado is there as well with their son.” Miyo stated.
“The cute one?” Sakura asked.
“Of course. Out of all of us, I believe our dear friend Misaki actually lucked out with a great lover. Even the children they make are incredibly handsome and beautiful. What a shame.” Miyo sighed.
“I don’t want to hear it. Sesshomaru is one handsome specimen you have there.” Sakura stated.
“Agree. But he looks so much like his father.” She rolled her eyes. ‘And not only that, he is even bigger than his father as well. Luck truly was in my favor.’ She mentally sighed, grinning at her thoughts. “Well, I should get going. See you soon?”
“Will do.”
Hitting end, Miyo placed her cell into her purse that was sitting on the end table beside her. Grabbing it, and placing it around her forearm, she began to walk against the marble floors. Her heels slamming into the expensive tiles, until she reached the front door and made her way into her vehicle. Having the servants slam the back door, she placed on her luxury name shades, and waved off to the driver. “The Kasai summer house, please.”
As she watched her home breezing past her, she felt a vibration against her leg. Looking down, she reached into her purse and grabbed her cell phone. Answering, she almost mentally cursed when she heard Take’s voice. “What?” She asked with venom.
“We aren’t through with our discussion.” He threatened.
“I believe we are. You making brass accusations that I’m doing terrible things is wrong! How dare you assume that I treat Sesshomaru terribly? He’s my son!” She defended herself. She couldn’t afford to let Take know what truly was happening. The second he catches the truth, she was gone - and she happened to love her life the way it was.
“I will find out the truth.” Take snarled.
“Go for it! You will find nothing! And you will be made to look like the asshole fool!” Growling, she ended the call and tossed her phone into her purse. Those be damned who try and ruin her happiness right now.
Tokyo, Japan
The airport always carried a scent that he never found comforting. He could never place the scent, but it was one that he wasn’t too fond over. It reminded him too much of when he was forced to leave Tokyo by his brother and the bitch of a wife, Miyo Taisho. He was taking a very big risk even coming back to Tokyo, but he didn’t care. He wanted to finally meet her.It was all he ever thought about. He fought for his rights to Rin, but Miyo was always two steps ahead of him. Well, not this time. He was going to make sure that he would get to see his little girl, even if it meant dying in the process.
Surely his brother couldn’t hold much of a grudge against him. They were twin brothers after all. The only difference was their hair and demon marks. While Take had silver hair and blue, jagged markings on his cheeks - Tatsu had black hair and violet double stripes on his cheeks. And from what he gathered, Rin had his hair color and his demon marks.
His little girl truly was his little girl. The only thing that told her maternal heritage was the damn crescent moon on her forehead. Why did he have to drink with her that night? Had he truly known that she would drug him just to get back at his brother, he wouldn’t have tried to be nice to his brother’s wife! He would have high tailed it out of there, but instead - the only greatest thing he got out of it was his daughter.
“Rin.” He smiled as he whispered her name. At least he will give Miyo that much, she truly did know how to name her children. Grabbing two bags from the pick up, he made his way out the airport and hailed a cab. Next stop, finding a hotel and settling in before talking with his brother.
Okuma Private Resort, Japan
The time was ticking by and she still had yet to remove herself from the bathroom. She still felt like she could puke up her stomach, and cry the remaining part of her soul that was left. She felt guilt and regret. Shame. Everything that made her feel like the worst person alive. All this time, she thought the guy she was falling for was this terrible guy who was cruel and arrogant. That he held no heart, and played with people’s emotions. And that he loved only one girl…
How could she have been so foolish? The answers were right there in front of her, and she fucked everything up! Of course his relationship with her cousin made complete sense. They were more like war comrades than lovers! His silent exterior made sense also. Who would ever want to share trauma as terrible as that?
Curling her knees to her chest, she hugged herself tightly as she cried silently in the corner of the bathroom. While everyone was busy having fun, she stayed back trying to figure out how to fix all of this.
They had a week left for this vacation, and they had yet to truly enjoy their time. The whole time while they had fun, Kagome was more than happy when Sesshomaru wouldn’t fall asleep at the same time as her. Of course, she felt a bit heart broken by that, but it made her feel a bit more comfortable when he was not so close to her. She was still trying to deal with his rejection.
But now - things changed.
Now, all she wanted was for him to be in the room with her, so she could hug him and take all the pain away. She wanted to make those bad dreams vanish, and if she could - vanquish the evil bitch who caused all of it! How could a mother treat a child like that? It was terrible! It was so very wrong!
Finally getting up from the bathroom floor, she slowly walked over to the porcelain sink and turned the faucet on. Forming a cup out of her hand, she scooped some water up into her mouth and rinsed out the foul flavor in her mouth. For the past couple minutes, she continued rinsing until she didn’t taste that sour toxic vomit than walked over to turn the shower on. She needed a hot, steamy shower to erase her worries right now.
She couldn’t afford to be like this when Sesshomaru came back. Something told her that if she flat out ran to him and stated she knew everything, he’d push further away from her - all because he will think she pitied him. Which wasn’t the case. She wanted to save him.
She needed to.
Stripping out of her clothes, she stepped into the shower and hissed at the steaming water hitting her cool skin. Biting her lower lip, she let out a content sigh as she finally drenched herself under the shower head, feeling more and more like herself. Silently crying, she continued to wash herself as she thought of her next plan to help Sesshomaru.
As the minutes breezed by, she finally turned the knobs off and stepped out. Grabbing the towel beside her, drying her skin and than her hair, she slowly began to feel the oncoming of a terrible migraine. ‘Great. Just perfect.’ She groaned mentally. Tying the towel around her body, she grabbed another small towel and wrapped it around her hair.
“Crap.” She softly cursed looking around the bathroom. “Amazing Kagome, leave it up to you to forget clean clothes in the bedroom!” Deciding to wait for the moment, she walked back to the sink and grabbed her toothbrush. Next steps completed and she began to brush away the remaining foul taste until all that remained was mint and freshness.
Wash, rinse and place back, she finally took in a deep breath and marched into the bedroom. ‘For the love of God, please don’t let Sesshomaru walk in yet. Please!’ She silently prayed as she rushed to her set of drawers and began rummaging through until she found a set of underwear and panties. Smiling, she looked at the dark blue, hello kitty set thinking back when her and her friends went to go buy them. It was the first thing she did anything for herself after the first anniversary of her father’s death.
Luckily, she didn’t have to worry about not wearing this piece of fabric since her body only grew so much and wasn’t getting any bigger. Oh how she envied her cousin even more. The chick had nice knockers!
Sighing, she finally pushed away her memories and began to change before a certain someone decided now was the time to come in the bedroom. Clamping on her bra, she adjusted herself until she was comfortable and than quickly reached her the panties to put them on. Looking into the mirror, she smiled as she modeled for herself.
She was proud of herself. Compared to before right when her father died, she knew how terrible she looked. Thin and sick looking. She refused to eat anything, and when she did, she only threw it back up. She self loathed in pity and sorrow, she forgot how to live. Now, here she stood staring at a nicer body - leaned muscle and still soft. She gained back her confidence.
And for once, she felt the spark of a new idea - on how to help Sesshomaru.
Grinning widely, she rushed to the closet where her clothes hung and began to think of how she should bring up the topic. She wasn’t the type to remain silent for long if she knew she could actually do something to help. This was the Kagome she always was! And for once, she was beginning to feel like her actual self. No more like an immature brat that she’s been acting for the past weeks! It was time she took her stand and be her true self.
As she reached the closet, she hadn’t noticed the click to the bedroom door and the step of foot steps that came to an abrupt stop. She was too busy in her mind, she didn’t realize she was putting on a show for the one guy she truly can admit she loved.
Meanwhile, standing like a deer in headlights, Sesshomaru watched the nearly nude Kagome walking around the bedroom in nothing but her blue bra and underwear. His breath even hitched slightly when he saw Hello Kitty printed on the back on her nicely shaped ass. Blood rushing to his head, he was sure the second she bends over he was guaranteed a nose bleed!
Suddenly, the idea of a woman’s nude body and sex came to his mind. Again, only with Kagome, he began to relive those nightmares with his mother. Wanting to look away, he shut his eyes and tried to even out his breath. Why did it have to be like this? With any other woman, he never had this problem! But the one girl he was actually starting to really like, and possibly fall for, was the only one he kept seeing Miyo torturing him! Was this fates sick way of saying that his mother will always hold the leash?
All the while, Kagome continued looking for a nice outfit to wear for Sesshomaru. It wasn’t until she felt a sharp prick in her heart that she felt almost immobile. Swallowing in fear, she turned around to see Sesshomaru standing behind her with his eyes shut tight. His breathing ragged. Not caring if she was partially nude, she raced up to the now immobilized prince and quickly placed her hands on his face. “Sess…” She whispered out his name.
“Leave me alone.” He almost growled out in a low whisper. All he saw was his mother’s viciousness coming towards him with that unforgettable smile of hers.
“Sess, listen to me. It’s Kagome.” She calmly spoke to him. Leading him to his bed, she helped him sit all while keeping her hands on him. She needed him to sit since she knew if he wasn’t and she began to use her aura against his to calm him, it would make him weak. It all made sense why she felt so much trauma with him, and why he would become to vulnerable and weak with her - he was paying too much attention to try and get away from the haunted memories.
Silently crying, she continued to call out to him as she slowly released her aura out to him. Caressing it against his wounded, and jaded one. It almost stung each time she touched his, knowing that it was all the pain from his past she would feel. It broke her heart every time she felt those pain stings. Not giving up, she calmly called out to him, “Please, come back to me Sess.”
Opening his eyes, he felt so much pressure being relieved off his shoulders and once again he was staring at those familiar grey eyes. Panting from exhaustion, he reached up to touch her own face while pushing back the damp hair that seemed to come free from the towel holding it all together. “Why?” He asked confusingly.
“Why what?” She questioned.
“Why are you the only one to take the pain away?” He finally asked.
“I don’t know, but I do know you need me.” She looked down, feeling even more embarrassed from that intense look he was giving her.
“Don’t.” He stated the second her grey orbs left his own amber ones. Lifting up her chin, he felt his anxiety calm down once more. “I don’t understand it, but when I’m around you I can forget.”
“Forget?” She asked, knowing already what he meant but she needed him to open up to her instead.
“Nothing. Just know you just make me forget about a terrible memory. Thank you.” He smiled softly.
That smile. It warmed her heart more than anything, because for once it was a genuine smile. A smile for her. A smile that she knew belonged completely to her and no one else. Tears pricking her eyes, she lost control and found herself pressing her lips against his. She no longer cared about the little things. She wanted the big picture, and this was it.
All she asked was that he didn’t push her away.
And he didn’t.
For once, he didn’t push her away. He needed this. He truly needed a comfort that he craved since the beginning of his torment. Was this his light in the dark tunnel?
“Wait. You’re pregnant? Does Bankotsu know?” Tsubaki exclaimed in surprised while looking between both Bankotsu and Satomi.
He had to admit, his younger brother wasn’t the brightest object in the shed. Sighing, he finally decided to talk to him like he belonged on the short bus to crazy town. “Tsubaki-kun. If I didn’t know, do you think she would tell everyone about it first without me knowing beforehand?”
“Well, she is a woman.” Tsubaki cocked a brow, still trying to figure out what his brother was getting at.
It was Shippo’s turn to face palm and groan. “This is why we never left the planning to you for our team.”
“Hey, what’s that suppose to mean?”
“That you aren’t that bright, Tsu-kun.” Kohaku finished.
“I’ll have you know that I haven’t made any bad grades compared to you two.” Tsubaki looked at them with wide eyes and a tight lip. “Keep talking smack, I’ll beat you guys up.”
“With what? A crippled foot?” Kohaku gave him a drool stare.
“That’s it!”
“Tsubaki!” Jak growled out grabbing his little brother in a head lock. “Calm your tits!”
“I don’t have tits! You do!” Tsubaki snarled trying to grab Kohaku with his pinky. “Come here you little baka!”
“Tsubaki.”
Finally stopping mid-pinky scratch, everyone looked over to Satomi who currently was trying to keep her cool. The whole point of the meeting was to deal with something else entirely besides her announced pregnancy. Right now, they had more pressing matters and one of them was being what they were going to do for the last week here.
It wouldn’t be long until Miyo grew bored and actually came to visit. The bitch was always conniving at her worst. Sighing in frustration, they knew they only had a limited amount of time before she decided now was a great time to visit. “Alright, we need to figure out what else we can do for our visit here before our parents decide it’s time for them to join us.”
“Good luck with that. Masatoshi-sama rarely gets involved with his kids unless it hurts his reputation.” Tsubaki stated casually as he mentioned their almost absent father.
“True, but that doesn’t mean we don't have other issues to worry about.” Satomi stated.
“Yeah. I fear my father will make an appearance since I told him about Naraku and Sango. He wasn’t quite thrilled about it.” Kohaku shamefully stated, letting his head hang low. “I’m sorry, onee-san.”
“It’s alright. If otousan comes, I’ll talk to him.” Sango sighed, gripping tightly to Naraku’s hand.
“Well, there is no worries about our father.” Naraku stated simply. “He’s preoccupied dealing with Miyo, Misaki, Sakura and Kirai at the moment. They all decided to be where my dying mother is at, in the summer home.”
“Sakura is with them?” Satomi whispered hurtfully. She knew she shouldn’t care, but that was her only mother. And her mother abandoned her a long time ago. It still hurt.
“Yeah. Apparently, from what my father said, she is full of joy and happiness and bragging about you letting her go was the best thing that ever happened to her.” Naraku sighed, while patting his dear friend on her back. “Don’t let her get to you, alright?”
“Still doesn’t mean that it doesn’t hurt.” She calmly stated. “Anyway. Now that we know the damage, we need to figure out a plan in case we get wind that our parents are coming to the island.”
“The only people we really have to worry is Sesshomaru’s mother. You’re mother won’t even step foot on the same land if she knows you are here.” Bank stated with a sigh. “Miyo will try to ruin the little fun we are trying to have. And if she caught wind that you are pregnant, she’ll tell the media and there goes your family’s name and honor.”
“I should skin you.” Satomi glared over to her fiance, overracting at the insults that he didn't mean to say. “You were at fault here too.”
Raising up his hand in the air for surrender, he zipped his lip and continued looking over to where Jakotsu still held Tsubaki in a head lock.
“What about we leave elsewhere?” A voice called out from behind them. Turning around, they all noticed a very blushing Kagome, and a shy Sesshomaru walking into the room.
“Well, if I didn’t know any better - I’d say you guys had sex.” Naraku smirked while still keeping his gaze straight forward and not bothering to look at his best friend.
“Uh, nothing like that happened.” Kagome stated quickly, almost too quickly. Yeah, things got a bit heated, but it was nothing more than a very intense kiss.
“Want to finish that fight?” Sesshomaru glared over to his friend sitting casually beside Sango.
“Nah. If we did finish that fight, it would only show whose the true winner. And that will be me. So, sit down and relax Big Bear.” Naraku grinned.
“You two! Stop!” Satomi ordered out. “Last thing we need is something to break and we won’t be able to get our deposit back. I swear, one scratch from any of your two-” She let out a very cute growl. “I’m gonna wax off all your body hair, including those tiny ones you call pubes!”
Raising his hands up in surrender, Naraku scooted closer to Sango. “I give.”
Sesshomaru would roll his eyes, but that was beneath him. Instead, he just walked over to the large sectional and sat down away from Satomi. Far away.
“That’s what I thought.” Satomi huffed, finally getting back to more pressing matters. “Now, Kagome you said something about going elsewhere? What did you have in mind?”
“How did you get them to calm down like that?” Kagome asked curiously. It was odd seeing two very powerful beings submit that easily to a human girl. It made her curious if her cousin might be special like herself.
“Because unlike most people who are afraid of hanyous and yokais, Satomi isn’t. She threatens, she promises to go through with that threat. Isn’t that right, Inuyasha.” Naraku turned his attention over to the hanyou who currently was trying to untie Jak’s arm away from Tsubaki’s body.
“Huh?” The hanyou looked over completely confused. “Who’s losing thread?”
“No, baka. Naraku said threat. That Satomi follows through with her threats.” Jak gave him a drool stare while releasing his younger brother to face palm.
“Oh! That-” Suddenly, realization hit and he looked over to see Satomi casually looking over to him. That hint of mischief in her hazel eyes. “Oh! Yes! I remember now! She hit me with a skillet than continued punching me while I was on the ground! How could I have forgotten about that terrible day!”
“You deserved it.” Satomi shrugged, while finally looking back to her cousin. “He called me fat.”
“You were fat!”
“You want to fight again, prick!” Satomi snarled.
“Now kiddos!” Naraku stepped in, trying to prevent another terrible Inuyasha-humiliating incident. “We have minors in the room.”
“He’s not worth it anyway.” Satomi stated before trying to finish her conversation with Kagome.
“In time, she will become pretty obese. Large belly and cankles.” Inuyasha smirked while hiding behind Jakotsu.
“You moron. I’d run if I were you.” Bankotsu shook his head while everyone else stifled a laugh. Sure enough, within a blur, Satomi was on Inuyasha grabbing his ears and telling Jak to hold him down.
Laughing along with everyone, Kagome watched in awe as everyone began to help Satomi tackle Inuyasha down on the couch. Including Sesshomaru. It made her see a whole new view on them all. Who knew all along, while broken and struggling, and craving for acceptance and love - they had it all along.
This is family.
The sun was starting to set beyond the horizon. All this time, she was grateful that she had a familiar face here on this unknown place. Of course, she grew close to her new friends, but it didn’t beat the ones she actually grew up with. Sitting beside Hojo and talking to him about everything helped her more than anyone could possibly know. He reminded her of who she truly was, and for that she will always be in his debt.
She thought she almost lost herself in that terrible selfish, immature state - but who knew it was all part of her emotions lashing out because she was in denial of how she really felt. Jealously was a very strong emotion, and also a very irrational one.
“So, how did everything go?” Hojo finally asked as they sat in silence for more than an hour.
“I kissed him.” She confessed with a smile on her face. “I actually kissed him, and it felt real this time.”
Smiling for his friend, he nudged her shoulder. “Care to explain? Haven’t you two already kissed more than once?”
Grinning, she felt her cheeks warm up with a blush. “I know, but this time it was different. It was like both our souls were out there, and instead of expecting rejection - there was acceptance. It was the most incredible feeling ever.”
“You sound very happy.” Hojo teased.
“Sorry if this is too weird for you.” Kagome stated softly, remembering that her friend once held a very long crush on her since childhood.
“Don’t be. I’m just happy seeing you finally smile since being here. Your eyes are even bright with joy. No need to worry about my feeling, Kags. In fact, since you left our old high school, me and Ayumi kinda been talking anyway. Nothing serious yet, she wanted to get your permission first.” Hojo confessed.
“Why do you need my permission?” She chuckled lightly. “You never belonged to me, and neither did I belong to you. Ayumi and you are perfect together, especially since she’s always liked you since third grade.” Kagome smirked.
“Really?” Hojo asked, feeling even more excited now about the new topic.
“Yup! I was wondering when she would actually make a move on you. I just didn’t think it would take this long, honestly.” She grinned.
“That’s good to know.” He gave a blushed smile. “Anyway, when are you heading back?”
“Probably here in a little bit. Why?”
“Well, this is my last day on the island. I’m heading back to Tokyo. Was just wondering if you wanted to do it for old times sake?” Hojo smirked.
“Oh no, Hojo! Last time was embarrassing! I wasn’t able to get the sand out of my hair for days!” Kagome sighed out.
“Oh come on! Who knows when I’ll be able to see you again!” Hojo chuckled while getting onto his feet and pulling Kagome along with him.
Not caring about it anymore, Kagome followed along - hand in hand - with her childhood friend. Memories came crashing down as she began to think of all the times her and her friends would go to the park and mark sand angels in the sandbox. Every Wednesday, they would go there and mark sand angels, not caring if sand got in their shoes, socks or hair.
To them it was just having a blast.
How could she have easily forgotten about their tradition? It had been almost four years since they last did anything like that, but still. The memory was fresh in her mind like it was yesterday.
Reaching the shore, Hojo finally released her hand and began to take his shoes and socks off. Looking back, he watched as Kagome did the same. “Ready?”
“No..” She teased, fixing her small shorts and tank top before sitting into the soft sand. The waves crashing against the shoreline was very peaceful, and the sun was already gone from the sky. Now all that remained was a pinkish and bluish light that painted the sky. It would be perfect to make their last angels under this sky. “Hey Hojo…” She called out to him as he sat down beside her.
“Yeah?”
“I miss him.”
The pain in her words made his own heart ache. Just like everyone in Kagome’s life, they all knew Ryuu Higurashi. To some he was like an uncle, and to others like Kagome’s cousin, he was like a second father. Always smiling, and living life in the moment - he looked up to him.
Tears began to fall and all over again, her heart broke. “I miss him so much, Hojo. I miss my dad.” She croaked, trying to reel back in her emotions, but it was too late.
Never once had she fully took the time to mourn for him. Never once had she truly shed the tears she held in all those years. She almost drowned because of the emotional knot inside her, because she wasn’t ready to let go. She wasn’t ready to say good-bye.
Pulling her towards him, he held her tightly as she finally let everything out. The day of Ryuu’s funeral, everyone cried and mourned for him. Everyone, including Hana Higurashi, but Kagome stood strong for her friends and family. She kept her smile, even with tears falling down. She didn’t want her father’s last memory to be shared with tears.
And so she smiled - bringing smiles to everyone’s faces. Including Satomi who took Ryuu’s death worst than anyone else. And Kagome was there to mend the broken.
He just never knew he’d be the one to mend her as she finally accepted and let go.
“Dad…”
Blinking back his own tears, he listened to Kagome calling out to her father. Broken voice and all, she still tried to hold onto his memory. Feeling her push away, not bothering to wipe the tears she looked up to Hojo and swallowed the sob that begged to be released. Looking to the ocean, she got up and walked over. Holding her hand out to Hojo, she shook her head. “Please. I need to do this.”
“Do what?” Hojo panicked, fearing that Kagome might decide drowning will be the best option.
“I need to say good-bye.” Her bottom lip trembled, she stepped into the cool ocean, and walked until she was waist deep.
Keeping his distance in case, he watched her carefully until he heard her clear as day. It was as thought the wind carried her words.
“Dad..” She whispered, tears falling into the salty water. “I’m sorry it took so long to say this. But I just wasn’t to do it. I hope you understand daddy.” She inhaled a broken cry. “I’m here to say it now. I’m here to say bye.”
It was for the best. In order for her to be happy, and to cherish life to the fullest - she had to let go of what held her back completely. If she was to be the one to heal someone, she had to heal herself first. And this was the step towards that direction.
The wind picked up, and along she gasped as she smelled the scent of her father’s cologne. And for that moment, time stood still. Her mind clear from all doubt and worry, and her heart beating will determination and fierce. The weight on her shoulders lifting, she felt her father for one last time…
“Good-bye, dad. I will always love you…”
I wanted to show how much effect Kagome's dad had on all her childhood friends, including Satomi. I will also write a scene with Satomi remembering her uncle later on, since I decided to go ahead and bring his funeral anniversary close by.
I wanted Kagome to see also that even though her new friends are from broken, wealthy family homes - together, they show love and compassion.. and the true meaning of family. That you don't have to be blood to be part of a family. I hope to you guys, that you are starting to see a change in Kagome. I wasn't going to keep her like she was forever. I hope you guys enjoy the change. Sesshomaru has yet to spill the beans, but that will soon change - when? Don't know yet, until he decides I guess lol.
Anyways! Please rate and review and let me know what you guys thought about this chapter? Oh, and yes! Ryuu was suppose to marry Satomi's mother, Sakura. The family history will be explained more, since that too has a big impact on Kagome's hertiage history. Wink wink! ;) Miyo also plays a huge part in her life also.

The AFF system includes a rigorous and complex abuse control system in order to prevent improper use of the AFF service, and we hope that its deployment indicates a good-faith effort to eliminate any illegal material on the site in a fair and unbiased manner. This abuse control system is run in accordance with the strict guidelines specified above.
