Inuyasha startled awake in sudden apprehension. Sitting up on the bed,
the hair on the back of his neck bristled. He growled. His ears twitched then
turned, seeking the sound that had woke him.
"Inuyasha!!!!"
It was Kagome! She was screaming his name!
In a flash he was out the bedroom door and down the hall, following her
scent which mingled with that damn human male she called her boyfriend.
He reached Hojo's bedroom door and bust through it to find the human male
on top of Kagome who was crying. Snarling, he grabbed Hojo by the back
of his shirt, pulled him off her then
pinned him to the floor, one clawed hand around his throat.
Feral rage burned inside him. He growled at the flustered male as his vision
coated red. Inuyasha so wanted to rip him to shreds but couldn't.
The subjugation spell held him back. He glanced at Kagome who was
sitting up on the bed, sniffling and trying to adjust her white blouse and
pink skirt. "You okay?"
Keeping her gaze lowered while smoothing her clothes, she gave a quick
nod. "Uh. Yeah. I'm...Okay."
She didn't sound okay to him. She sounded hurt.
The boy under him struggled. "Get off me demon dog! Stay away from her!
She's mine! I won't let you possess her! Monster!"
Noticing how rumpled her clothes were and how she was acting,
Inuyasha suddenly realized: The human male had tried to...tried to....
He glared at Hojo. "You sick fucking bastard! How dare you!
How dare you!"
Knowing he couldn't hurt the perverted shit, Inuyasha grabbed the struggling
human by the legs and began dragging him out the door and down the
stairs, finding satisfaction every time the bastard's head hit the
edge of each stair.
After throwing him out the door, he slammed it shut and locked it.
"Sick fuck."

Kagome, still sitting on Hojo's bed, began to shiver and soon her
entire body was shaking. She held herself and rocked, trying to make
the awful feeling go away.
Inuyasha came into the room then crouched
at her feet, looking up at her. "Kagome? Did he...?"
For some reason, she couldn't look into his eyes and found it hard to
talk so she shook her head. She felt so bad and so dirty. Her skin
crawled with the sensation. Staring at her lap, she rubbed her arms.
"Do you need me to...to help? I mean, take you back to your room or
something?" Inuyasha asked.
For a long moment, she gently rubbed her arms and rocked before
finally making herself look at the hanyou.
Pools of dark amber gazed at her with anxious concern.
An unwarranted fear of the male hanyou tried to surface but Kagome
quickly recognized the feeling and pushed it away. Hojo was the
one who had tried to rape her. Not Inuyasha.
At the full reality of what had just happened, Kagome slumped, hid her
face in her hands and cried.

Inuyasha, ears drooping, leaned in closer, wanting to lay his head
on her lap, or hug her, anything to make her stop crying but he was
afraid. He had seen fear in her eyes. She had been scared of him if
only for a second. Now, she was crying and it was making his insides
twist. "Kagome, don't cry. Please?"
The girl reached out and fell into him. As he caught her in his arms,
he fell back to sit on the floor, settling the crying girl into his lap.
Feeling better with Kagome safely in his hold, he gently rubbed her back
and smoothed her hair. Soon her crying died to sniffles.
"Ready to go back to your room?" He asked.
She nodded against his chest. "Yeah."
Not giving her the chance to stand on her own, he picked her up and
carried her back.

He set Kagome on her bed. She smiled weakly at him. "I need to...uh...."
She glanced at the bathroom door.
Inuyasha, wanting to stay close,
understood that she needed some time alone. "I'll go down to the kitchen
and find some food."

He left the room, closed the door behind him, then headed to Hojo's
room. After stuffing all of the prick's clothes and things into
the suitcase, he went downstairs. Opening the front
door, he found Hojo sitting on the concrete step. He threw the suitcase
out. "Go home and stay away from Kagome or I'll tell Kikyo you tried
to rape her, you fucking bastard!"
The male didn't look at him as he grabbed the suitcase and began
hurrying down the sidewalk.
Inuyasha watched him leave before shutting and locking the door once
again.
Upon entering the kitchen, he found Ayame cutting up vegetables by
the sink. Opening up the cabinet where Kagome had found the ramen noodles,
he growled at the wolf demon. "I know you heard her screaming."
He shut the cabinet then began tearing open the package. "Why didn't
you help her?"
The female wolf didn't look at him as she chopped. "It was none of
my concern."
He grabbed a bowl, filled it with water, then stuck it in the microwave.
"He was fucking raping her and it was none of your concern?"
She turned to glare at him." The human male was claiming
her. I couldn't interfere."
At the mere thought of that human touching Kagome and claiming her, Inuyasha
felt like killing him. "You helped her before with the medicine. What's the
difference?"
Ayame tossed the knife in the sink. "She wasn't dying this time and your
life was not at stake. I am forbidden to intervene in the affairs of humans.
It would have meant my life."
Inuyasha, fuming, stirred the ramen into the hot water then stuck the
bowl back into the microwave. He leaned against the counter and
watched the female wolf slide vegetables into a big pot. The tooth and
bead necklace lightly clacked as she worked. "How did Kikyo catch you
anyway? You wolf demons are supposed to be way fast."
Ayame placed the large pot on the stove. "Why do you want to know?"
He took the piping hot bowl of ramen out of the microwave then
sat down at the small breakfast table by the back kitchen door. "No reason
really. Just wanted to know how you fucked up like I did."
The wolf demon sighed and sat down across from him. Setting her elbows
on the table, she delicately picked up the necklace and gazed at it while
rubbing the beads between her fingers. "It was the middle of winter and
our pack was hungry. Game was hard to find.
My new mate left before we could..." Ayame's wistful tone paused as her cheeks
blushed red. Clearing her throat, she continued. "He left to go hunting in
faraway lands. The little ones were starving. I couldn't just sit and watch. I
took off on my own. I knew humans raised cattle in the south planes past
the mountains. The pack leaders forbid us to go into human territory but...
the pups...they were so hungry. I found a good sized herd and watched it
for a couple of days to see if any humans were checking up on them.
I picked out a fat cow that didn't have a calf, killed it quickly, then
hurried back to my lands. When I came back, my mate had still not returned.
I told the elders I had found the cow and that it must have been a stray.
Knowing one cow wouldn't be enough, I chanced going back. I left
that morning, hoping to be back within three days with one more.
I found the herd again but it was eating hay close to the human's farm house.
I waited till night then snuck close to it. I killed one more cow
then ran with it. The heavy weight of the animal along with being weak
from starvation slowed me down. I neared the far edge
of the field, almost to the fence and trees before an arrow struck me
in the back. I dropped the cow and fell. As I tried to stay concious, I
crawled to the fence but didn't make it."
Ayame dropped the tooth and bead necklace then frowned at him. "When I woke
up, I was in the same room that you were in in the basement. I tried to
fight, to resist against her but it was no use. For three moons, she
starved and tortured me with her purifying powers till she broke my will.
By the end of it I was begging her to subjugate me."
The wolf demon stood then headed to the stove. "I serve her now. I will
never be free again." While stirring the pot of vegetables,
she glaced at him. "I know it was Miss Kagome who subjugated you. If Miss
Kikyo finds out, she will make Miss Kagome release you, then Miss Kikyo will
make you hers. She hates demons, you know. If she can't break you, she'll
kill you."
Inuyasha took the empty bowl to the sink. "Fat chance that ugly hag is
going to break or kill me. And as for Kagome...." He paused, thinking of her. She had
helped him, almost died trying to free him from that barrier spell, given
him food and let him sleep in her bed when he was hurt. Even if Kagome had
accidentally subjugated him, he didn't care. He liked belonging to her. He
liked the thought of always being close and protecting her.
".....never mind." He grunted the last part to the wolf before leaving the
kitchen.
