As promised, three weeks in a row! I'm going to start on the next one as soon as I get a chance, so hopefully, next Wednesday will come with another chapter as well.
Chapter 23 - The Hunt is On
Kagome checked over her hiding spot one last time before sending out a burst of her power that covered the whole area, alerting the brothers that she was ready. She had to focus on her breathing while fighting not to shake because, as she set up her little tricks to slow them down, she grew more and more nervous.
She had played this game with Sesshoumaru in the past, and it had always ended pleasurably. The taiyoukai was especially passionate when he caught her, his usual controlled nature nowhere to be found. Something about the hunt and chase drew his wild, impulsive, instinct-driven half to the surface. That wasn't the part that bothered her.
The miko expected that Inuyasha would be similarly affected, and he was rather wild in bed to begin with. She loved how he held nothing back. Kagome was actually rather interested to see just how different he might be. Was it even possible for him to be more passionate than he already was? The thought excited her, and a small part of her hoped that he was the one to catch her so she could find out. That wasn't what concerned her either.
She was, however, worried about the both of them together. No matter who caught her, the other brother would be there soon after, eager to join in. While they had done things together before, she knew that this time would likely be different. The game was going to put them both in an entirely different state of mind, their instincts at the surface driving them. Was she really up to that? She was a human, about to be quite enthusiastically fucked by two very powerful demons. Well, she figured she was going to find out. She might have been afraid, if she didn't have such endless trust in the both of them. If she found herself overwhelmed and desired for them to stop, they would. She knew that just as surely as she knew she loved them. They would never do something she didn't want.
It was really more an issue of endurance than anything else. The last thing she wanted to do was let them down, to give them a reason to question if they truly wanted to be with a human woman. At least she had a good night's sleep, because by the time this was over, she was going to be absolutely exhausted. She prayed she didn't pass out cold right in the middle!
Still, her nervousness was overridden by anticipation, and she had to force herself to breath slowly and deliberately, hoping to slow her racing heart. She needed to be calm if she hoped to maintain the shield masking her scent. She knew from experience that the wait would be the worst part. It would be a good five minutes, at least, before either brother got even close to her hiding place.

When the wave of Kagome's power reached them, Inuyasha and Sesshoumaru walked, side-by-side, into the forest. Both desired more than anything to bolt, to use every bit of their speed and every one of their powerful senses to track their miko down. But neither wanted to look more eager than the other or give the impression that they thought they needed a head start, as if they believed the other to be better equipped for this little game.
The brothers followed her scent through the forest for a short distance before forcing their way through the brush into a natural clearing. Inuyasha fought to keep the smirk off his face as his nose told him that she had, in fact, done as he taught her. The clearing was somewhat circular in shape, and there were at least ten different scent trails leading in different directions, as if she'd separated into multiple mikos and each one took a different path. The hanyou watched Sesshoumaru's face from the corner of his eye, wondering just what his brother thought of Kagome's skills.
The taiyoukai fought not to frown as he walked the edge of the clearing, evaluating each scent trail one by one, hoping that a path would jump out at him as the one to follow. He glanced at Inuyasha, who looked just as befuddled as he felt, before mentally shrugging and picking one at random. Even if they both had to follow all the options one by one until finding the right one, he still had the advantages of both speed and more powerful senses. His little brother didn't stand a chance. As he walked, he wondered, not for the first time, just how Kagome was so good at her little game of hide and seek. Perhaps, he would remember to ask her, once he fully enjoyed his prize for being the one to find her first.
Inuyasha watched as Sesshoumaru picked a path on the right, waiting until the taiyoukai was out of sight before walking the circle himself. Oh, she was predictable, and the hanyou grinned as he headed out of the clearing, leaving the area via the only spot that didn't carry her scent. Ignoring the fact that he could no longer smell her at all, he continued forward; watching the tips of branches and the soft, leaf strewn ground. Yes, Kagome was careful, but every few feet he spotted a sign telling him someone had passed through the area recently.
He taught her how to cover her tracks, but Inuyasha knew she was in a hurry, and that rush gave him the perfect path to follow. Here and there, he would notice a small indentation in the dirt that he recognized as the toe or heel of her shoe. Then, there were the small broken branches, snapped as she went by. She tried to avoid damaging the surrounding brush, but she couldn't miss it all, especially not in the thicker areas. She hadn't chosen the path of least resistance, either. No, that would have been obvious, and Kagome was far too good at this to make such a rookie mistake.
Ears flicking from side to side, the hanyou listened for any hint of her breathing or heartbeat. He waited for her to shift nervously in the bushes or to attempt to escape as she felt him approaching. Every little sound, every leaf hitting the forest floor or rustling in the breeze, caught his attention, but he expertly filtered through it while studying the area. She had gone far enough from her knot of scent trails and by this point; he knew she would begin hunting for a good hiding spot.
Inuyasha began checking the trunks of trees as he passed, as a hollowed out rotting tree trunk was one of the places he told her to look for. He ran his hand through thick bushes, wondering if she was hiding so close. The girl had chosen to wear her pajamas that morning, as they were something she wasn't worried about damaging, and so he searched for any hint of the bright blue where it would be out of place. She had to be nearby. He could almost feel it, like his soul was calling out to hers, just waiting for hers to call back.
His heart was racing with excitement as he moved painfully slowly, not wanting to risk walking right past her. That had happened in the past, when he had lost her during a battle, only this time; she wasn't going to pop out and announce her presence, throwing herself into his arms with relief. No, she was going to run, and he couldn't wait to chase her. Even though he knew he would be allowing her to escape both this time and the next, that didn't reduce the anticipation. He was greatly enjoying the hunt but was also aching to run, dying to chase her down like prey. The longer it took to get his hands on her, the hotter his blood would be. Already, his cock was throbbing painfully in his pants. He could barely wait to capture his prize, and he knew that she was close.

Sesshoumaru frowned as the path he had chosen ended without warning, as if she simply disappeared. This was the third time that happened, and the longer it took him to find her, the more he worried that Inuyasha might get to her first. What if the hanyou got lucky and picked the right direction? He wanted to be the one to find her. He wanted to be the one to chase her down and capture her. Oh, the fun they had during previous games. They were some of his best memories.
Allowing his instinctive half to rise to the surface and play along was incredibly freeing. He couldn't have held him back if he tried, and he was the master of self-control. Something about the hunt, running through the forest following the sound of her laughter, excited him in ways he had never known before. He always found her arousing, but this was different, special somehow. It spoke to the side of him no one else had ever seen but her, and she had managed to do so without ever meeting his beast before. She just... knew.
How this human woman from another time managed to figure out what excited him most without even the vaguest of hints, he didn't know, but he was glad she had. Kagome was incredible, and he would never regret pursuing her. Even though he ended up in a messy situation because of their relationship, he wouldn't change it for the world. If the choice was losing her or being stuck with his brother, there really wasn’t another option because he couldn't give her up to save his very soul. Besides, Inuyasha wasn't so bad after all.
He never had the opportunity to watch a couple being intimate before. He never even considered that it might be something he would enjoy, but damned if it wasn't incredibly arousing. He had expected to be filled with jealousy when Kagome and Inuyasha were together, but instead, it only excited him. Knowing that his brother was watching when he and the miko were having sex was rather exhilarating, as well. The best, however, was when they were all together. Watching and being watched was fun; but having her sandwiched between them... It was unlike anything he ever experienced before, and he had experienced quite a lot during his centuries of life.
Still, as much as he enjoyed seeing them together, he was competitive to a fault, and he did not want his brother to catch Kagome first. Even though he knew he would be welcome to join them if he did, he wanted to win. He simply wasn't a loser. He was faster. His senses were stronger. It would be embarrassing for Inuyasha, a mere half demon, to best him in this. It was bad enough the boy had beaten him in battle on occasion. He didn't want Kagome to think the hanyou was better than him. He knew it was his arrogance that made this so important to him, but he didn't care. He wanted to be the one to find her, the one to catch her. He wanted Inuyasha to be the one drawn to their location, as he made her scream her pleasure to the world, not the other way around.
He returned, again, to the mess of scent trails and spent a few extra moments there, evaluating the area carefully while trying to decide his next course. Sesshoumaru's eyes narrowed as he noticed that Inuyasha hadn't followed her scent at all, but had gone off in one of the few directions that she hadn't gone. Why would the hanyou do such a thing? Did he know something he didn't? The taiyoukai was tempted to follow his brother's path, but after some thought, he decided against it. He didn't want to give the impression that he didn't trust his own senses. No, he would find her on his own.
Swallowing a growl of frustration, Sesshoumaru chose yet another scent trail. He had gone North, East, and West, hoping that his powerful senses would alert him if she was somewhere nearby so that he wouldn't have to check each and every path. South was all that was left. The taiyoukai glanced in the direction Inuyasha had headed, Northeast, before setting out once again to follow her scent and hopefully to locate the miko he loved.

Kagome fought to stay perfectly silent, her senses constantly checking her surroundings. She needed to know if one of them was closing in on her location. If they were, she had to run, knowing they would chase her. Because of their agreement about not catching her at the first opportunity, the miko knew she would be able to get away and hide herself again, and the anxiousness was getting to her.
Closing her eyes, she envisioned the area, carefully locating the only other people inside Sesshoumaru's barrier. Kagome had to fight down the desire to laugh as she realized that the taiyoukai was going in the wrong direction. He was not going to be happy in the least if he lost. Inuyasha, she noticed, was much closer and heading right toward her.
Kagome waited, her muscles taut, ready to bolt when he was nearly upon her. She had to fight to breathe quietly, knowing just how sensitive his ears were.
"Kagome," the hanyou said softly. "I know you're here. I can hear your heart racing. Can't use Miroku's technique and slow it down? I guess it might be hard to meditate knowing we're coming after you. I can promise you one thing, 'Gome. I'm going to win." Inuyasha took another careful step towards where he decided she had to be hiding. "I'm going to catch you. Sesshoumaru doesn't stand a chance."
The miko slowly pulled in a deep breath; turned silently in the brush she was using as a cover, and counted down from three in her mind, knowing he was barely five feet away from her now. When she reached one, Kagome jumped up and took off, running as fast as her feet could carry her away from the hanyou, who was instantly on her tail.
Sliding under a low branch, she couldn't help but laugh as she heard Inuyasha cursing behind her, not having been as lucky as she was to miss it. The hanyou smirked at the sound and laughed, as well.
"Still going to catch you, 'Gome."
"Not this time, you're not," she called out happily, looping in and out of the trees in her path, ignoring the sting as the forest tore at her bare arms and legs.
Quite a ways away, Sesshoumaru's ears caught the sweet sound of her laughter, as well as his brother's voice, and mentally cursed. He wasn't even close! The taiyoukai turned on his heel and followed the racket the two of them were making as they ran through the woods, hoping to make it there before Kagome managed to tuck herself away again. So far, the hanyou was winning, but he still had the chance to catch up. He wasn't out of the game just yet.
