A/N: I know this chapter is kinda
short and I apologize.� Once again I thank
everyone that has reviewed I do like to hear what people think.� I am never against constructive criticism or
ideas for the stories I write.� So far
everyone that has reviewed seems to like it and I am glad.� So keep reviewing I look forward to hearing
your opinions.

Chapter 23
They all stood in the field in complete shock.� None of them could believe what Kagome was
proposing.� They were all speechless,
unable to voice their objections.� Inuyasha was the first able to shake off his shock.
�You want us to what?� he practically yelled.
�Look, I know none of you want to do this, but you have to
practice it at least once to see what will happen.�
�No, no way,� Inuyasha yelled.
�Inuyasha, trust me, ok?� You all have to try,
we need to see if it will work.�
�Kagome, this is a big risk, I am also against it,� Sesshomaru said his heart still pounding at the thought.
�Look, you all have to trust me.� Midoriko said this
may be the best way to kill Naraku.� All of you are going to have to suck it up
and trust me, you need to try this.�
�Fine, but do you have to be the target?� Sesshomaru
asked.
�Yes, then it will give all of you the same target and a
living one will work best.�
Sesshomaru looked over at the others and
sighed.� He knew Kagome was right and as
much as he didn�t want to do this he also knew that she would get her way.� He looked at the others again and each
reluctantly nodded.
�Fine, but you better not get hurt.�
Kagome winked at him, �Good, don�t hold back.�
She turned and walked across the field leaving the nervous
men to collect themselves.� Sesshomaru, Inu no Taisho, Inuyasha and Kouga all walked to the other side of the field.� Sesshomaru could
tell that they were just as upset about this as he was.� They lined up all facing Kagome.� She stood waiting patiently for them to get
ready.
�Ok everyone, take a deep breath,� Sesshomaru
said even though he felt like hyperventilating.
All the men did as he said and then nodded toward Kagome that
they were ready.
�All at once at the count of three,� Kagome yelled across the
field, �One!�
All of them were sweating and their hearts pounding.
�Two!�
They raised their weapons with shaking hands.
�Three!�
They all struck with all they had.
�Windscar!�
�Dragon Twister!�
�Tiger�s Roar!�
�Dragonfire!�
They all watched in anticipation as the attacks swirled
together creating a dark purple beam of energy.�
It sped toward Kagome like a twister and they could vaguely make out the
forms of the tigers and dragons here and there.�
They could feel their fear mounting as the strike drew closer to
Kagome.� It took all of Sesshomaru�s will power not to rush to her side.� Kagome just stood her ground and watched the
attack approach.
She raised her hand a second before she was engulfed and Sesshomaru�s heart stopped.�
Fear coursed through him as he watched the twister of energy grow.� Inu no Taisho and Inuyasha felt their hearts jump in their throats as they
watched the twister grow and grow with no sign of Kagome.� Inu no Taisho tried
to call to her telepathically to make sure she was ok, but she did not respond.
All they could do was watch in horror and hope that Kagome
was ok.� Then all four of them felt a
pulse from within the twister.� The pulse
of power was strong and they all froze in confusion.� They had never felt anything that powerful before.� The twister started to push outward with each
pulse of power.� They felt the ground
shaking beneath them with each pulse of power.
They watched as the twister started to pulse more and
more.� The pulses
becoming faster and stronger.�
Then before any of them could react the twister
exploded outward they all raised their arms to cover themselves.� A barrier formed around them as the power
from their attacks flew back at them.�
They watched in awe as a bright blue light emerged from the debris.� The orb of light floated about ten feet from
the ground.
The barrier fell after the last of the energy had
dissipated.� They stood in shock and
watched as the blue orb slowly vanished revealing
Kagome.� What shocked them most was not
the fact that she was completely unscathed, but the wings that shined in the
sunlight.� It was like an angel and they
all held their breath as she slowly lowered to the ground.� Her eyes were closed and she looked so
peaceful.
When she landed on the ground she opened her eyes and they
all gasped to see that they were glowing blue.�
She raised her hands to the heavens and the pristine white wings slowly
disappeared and her eyes changed back to their usual appearance.� They all slowly approached her unsure of what
was going on.� She lowered her hands to
her sides and turned her gaze to them.
Inuyasha didn�t know what to say, was Kagome
an angel?� Sesshomaru
was just as confused and for once did not rush to her side to check her for
injuries.� He walked alongside his
father.� Kagome smiled at all of them and
cocked her head to the side.
�You don�t need to be afraid.�
It is just another aspect of my full power.�
Sesshomaru closed the distance between them and
pulled her into his arms.� He didn�t know
what had just happened, but he knew that Kagome had protected them from the
attack.� She might not even be able to
explain it all yet.� He had to admit that
she really had looked beautiful with her angel wings,
she had looked like an ethereal angel.�
The others stood nearby still confused by what had happened, and
relieved that Kagome was not hurt.
Even Inu no Taisho was confused by
what had just happened, but he intended to find out.� He knew the powers were new to Kagome so he
had every intention of researching it later.�
His daughter was unlike any being ever to exist, her powers were immense
and yet her heart and soul were caring.�
He already loved her and he could tell that she somehow drew people to
her without trying.
When she had shown him her memories he had seen how people
just came to her.� He had seen how people
who didn�t know her vowed to protect her.�
She was an entity that just seemed like a treasure.� Everyone saw her as a treasure to protect and
were willing to put their lives on the line for
her.� Kouga was
just one example.� Somehow she had even
managed to draw Sesshomaru to her despite his cold
heart and hatred of humans.
When Sesshomaru assured himself that she was not injured and managed to calm himself
he finally released her only to have his father hug her next.� He looked at the others and could tell they
were all still shaken up from what had just happened.� He put his hands on Inuyasha
and Kouga�s shoulders to reassure them.� They both looked to him and smiled before
turning to go sit down in the garden.
Sesshomaru turned toward his mate once they
were out of sight.� She smiled at him and
he felt his heart melt, he had never felt such fear as he had felt when the
attack engulfed her.� He was still shaky
himself, but he was glad that she was ok.�
He had been right last night when he guessed that he would not like her
plan.
�So Kagome, do you care to explain?� Sesshomaru
asked fighting to keep his voice steady.
�It is just another aspect of my unlocked power�s.�
�Yes, but why the angel wings?�
�I am the Shikon Miko.� The only thing
I can figure is that being a priestess of such high rank I am close to being an
angel.�
�How can you be close to being and
angel?�
�The Kami�s protect me, Midoriko leads me.� I
have the abilities or at least some of an angel, but I am of this world therefore
I cannot be a full out angel.� It is hard
to explain.�
�So the Kami�s are giving you the
power?� So they will keep you from
dying?� Sesshomaru asked with a small hint of hope in
his voice.
�No they will not keep me from dying,
they just gave me the power and Midoriko to guide
me.� I am not human, but I am not angel
either, I am me.� They just hope the
power they gave me will be enough to restore the balance to this world.�
�This is why you are immortal?�
�Yes, I have a mission to complete so they tried to give me
all I would need.� Then after this if I
am alive I will continue to maintain the balance.� My time is out of balance, only humans exist,
I am supposed to correct that and I need to be immortal to do so.� But they also want me to be happy, that is
why they allowed our mating.�
�You mean you mated me to please them?�
�No I mated you so that I could be happy because I love
you.� They are the ones that had to just
get over it.�
Sesshomaru was shocked.� All of this information was beginning to confuse
him.� She loved him?� She mated with him even though the Kami�s did not really want her to?� He couldn�t help the smile that spread across
his face and Kagome squeaked in surprise as he suddenly grabbed her into a
tight hug.� He felt so happy that she
would risk angering the Kami�s themselves
just to be with him, she loved him that much.
�I love you to Kagome and I never want to lose you,� he
whispered in her ear as a single tear streaked down his face.
Kagome smiled and hugged him for all she was worth.� She would give up everything for him.� Even if it meant that she would just become a
weak mortal human she would be happy as long as she had him.� Her smile disappeared however at the thought
of the final battle.� The chances were
that she would die if not in battle then using her energy to make her
wish.� All she could do was just be happy
with Sesshomaru now and hope for the best.
Inu no Taisho watched and listened to
the whole thing.� He was just as confused
as Sesshomaru about all of the information, he would
have to think and organize it later.� He
watched as Sesshomaru pulled her into his arms.� He knew what Sesshomaru
was thinking.� Kagome had risked
everything just to be with him and Inu no Taisho felt
even more pride at this information.
It was obvious that Kagome always put others before
herself.� She would suffer for a complete
stranger.� However she had risked
everything knowing that her chances of survival in the war to come were slim to
none just so she could have at least a small time of happiness and Sesshomaru could to.�
Inu no Taisho knew she did it for Sesshomaru as well as herself, now there would never be a
what if.
He watched as her smile slowly faded from her face as Sesshomaru held her.�
He was surprised to see the single tear trailing down his eldest�s
cheek.� He wanted nothing more than for
his son�s to be happy, but he had to know what was bothering Kagome.
What is wrong Kagome?
I am just thinking about the war.
What about it?
I don�t want to hurt Sesshomaru, I love him with all I am, but the chances are
that I will not live through it.� If I
don�t die in the war itself then when I make my wish on the jewel the chances
are that it will completely drain me.
Why don�t you wait to make the wish
then?
I cannot do that, I have to make the
wish before the jewel is accidentally wished on by someone else.� The wish must be unselfish and many would
wish for something for their own gain.
Well I understand that, but you need
to stop worrying.� Have a more positive
attitude and do everything you can to survive.�
I have faith in you my daughter, you have more
strength in you than anyone I have ever known.�
I know you will make it through this.
Even as he said it he hoped that he was right.� Kagome started to smile again and it seemed
to light up the whole area.
Thank you, I am glad you have faith
in me.
You never cease to amaze me and I
think in the war you will amaze everyone.�
I know you will do everything in your power to survive so you don�t hurt
Sesshomaru or your children.
�� Kagome
smiled at him thanking him once again through the telepathic link.� She felt her spirits rise.�� Someone has faith in her and that was all
she needed to cheer her up.
