Chapter 27: I Choose Love
A/N: Kikyo will try and force Kagome into returning to the village. Will she succeed? Sorry it’s been so long since I updated, I just had some personal problems that I had to take care of. Enjoy!
Kagome’s blue gray eyes flashed intensely with her anger. Her blood felt as if it were boiling in her veins. She clenched her hands into fists so tight that she could feel the tips of her fingernails beginning to dig into the soft flesh of her palms. “I think you should leave now Kikyo.” Kikyo ignored Kagome’s warning and took a few steps toward where she sat on the bed next to Inuyasha.
“You cannot truly wish to remain by this worthless hanyou’s side! Kagome you must return home to the shrine and forget about those little half breed children!” Kagome gritted her teeth and drew in a slow breath to keep from ripping Kikyo’s head off her shoulders.
“Look Kikyo, I’m happy here, just leave me be. My father has made it clear that I will not be welcomed back at the shrine. So tell me, why do you insist on my returning to a village that will shun me?”
“Because it’s where you belong Kagome. No miko should ever be bound to a demon!”
“I love Inuyasha and I choose to stay with him of my own free will. I do not belong in a place where I will be looked down upon. You hate me Kikyo, so tell me, why are you so desperate to have me back in the shrine? I would have thought that you of all people would celebrate my banishment. Without me being in the village doesn’t that make you the most powerful miko in the shrine?” Kikyo smirked her brown eyes lacking any real emotion.
“Yes it’s true, I am the strongest miko in the shrine now that you are gone. And yes, I do hate you Kagome, but I do not celebrate the loss of a sister miko. You have exceptional powers and it’s a shame to see them wasted by you being mated to that half demon! How can you even allow such an unworthy creature touch your body Kagome?”
“Inuyasha is worthy. I love him for who he is regardless of his demon blood. I will not leave my place by his side Kikyo, so I’m afraid that your visit has been in vain.” Kikyo grabbed Kagome’s wrist and started to pull her towards the door of her and Inuyasha’s chambers.
“I will not stand by and let you throw your life away for this disgusting animal! You are a miko! Forget Inuyasha and those half breed brats that you created with him!” Kagome yanked her wrist from Kikyo’s grasp.
“Inuyasha is not an animal! He is my chosen mate and you will respect him and treat him as such! I am no longer a miko! My heart will never allow me to forget Inuyasha or my children because I love them dearly! Do not ask me to choose Kikyo.” Kikyo’s chocolate eyes darted over to Inuyasha to see him staring at her like he was ready to pounce on her at any given second. Her breath nearly caught in her throat as his amber eyes seemed to bore into her sharply, his voice husky when he spoke.
“Does she need to be thrown out Kagome?”
“No Inuyasha, Kikyo was just leaving.” Inuyasha stood up and padded gracefully over to where Kikyo stood. He grabbed Kikyo by the arm and began pulling her towards the door.
“W-what are you doing?”
“Kagome said that you were just leaving, so leave.” He shoved Kikyo out of their chambers and into the hallway. “Get moving wench!” Kikyo stumbled a bit and glared over her shoulder at Inuyasha.
“How dare you touch me like that! Keep your filthy demon hands off my pure body! Kagome, you can either return to the shrine or stay here with this monster, it’s your choice. What will you choose?” Kagome shook her head as she prepared to speak again.
“Kikyo, I asked you not to make me choose and you disrespected my wishes. I shall not return to the shrine now or ever. My place is here with my family.”
“So you’re choosing a demon over your own kind? You’re a bigger fool than I thought Kagome!”
“No Kikyo, I’m no fool. I’m choosing more than just a half demon, I’m choosing love. Inuyasha is where my heart lies and I cannot forsake him. Now leave me be Kikyo, let me finally have peace.”
“You want to remain here and be the wife of a demon? Fine, so be it then, you’ve made your choice Kagome.”
“Yes Kikyo, I have made my choice. Now go and never return to this palace, for you do not belong here.”
“I shall not return here ever again because I have no reason to. It is you who is a demon lover, not I.”
“Goodbye Kikyo.” Kikyo did not even respond to Kagome’s farewell and began padding down the long spiraling staircase headed in dir direction of the front door. Inuyasha put his arm around Kagome’s shoulders and drew her up against him.
“Do you think she’ll come back?”
“No, Kikyo no longer has a reason to come here. She will keep her promise and never return. Do not worry, that’s the last that we will have to see of her.”
“I hope you’re right Kagome.”
“I’m nearly almost always right, after all I am in many ways still a miko.” Inuyasha smiled at his mate. Suddenly Kagome’s ears picked up the sound of her infant son Tanmaru crying. “Oh that’s Tanmaru, I should go check on him.”
“I’ll come with you.” Kagome nodded and grabbed Inuyasha’s hand. They walked quickly down the hall to where Tanmaru and Amaiya’s room was. Kagome walked into the room and picked Tanmaru up out of his bednmarnmaru stopped crying once he felt his mother’s arms wrap securely around his small body. Inuyasha stared at his mate with wide amber eyes. “How do you do that?” Kagome laughed at her mate’s puzzled expression.
“Easy, I’m his mother. Tanmaru knows his mother’s touch better than anyone else’s.” Inuyasha grinned devilishly at her his amber eyes glistening with lust.
“Oh yeah, well I used to know your touch better than anyone. How about you refresh my memory?” Kagome smiled as she rocked Tanmaru back to sleep carefully.
“I’d love to Inuyasha, but first let me get Tanmaru to go back to sleep.” Inuyasha wrapped his arms around Kagome’s tiny waist and rested his chin on top of her head as she rocked their infant son in her slender arms gently. He smiled to himself thinking about how lucky he was to have such a wonderful mate and two beautiful children in his life. Yes he had come quite a long way from the lonely hanyou that felt as if he didn’t belong anywhere and would never have true happiness. Now he had had a family of his own and had more happiness in his life than he had ever had before. Inuyasha silently thanked Kami for bringing him and Kagome together.
