Chapter 25: Turn Of Events

A/N: Sesshomaru marries Kikyo and finally lets go of his obsession with Kagome. Hope you enjoy this chapter and I still do not own Inuyasha so don�t even think about it! (Trying to sue me that is)
The day of Sesshomaru and Kikyo�s wedding finally dawned. Kikyo stood in her bridal chambers preparing for her wedding. She stepped into her pearl white a-line styled strapless gown. It was decorated only by a thin line of pearls along the top and bottom of the dress. Her long coal black tresses were fashioned into a very ornate up twist with a few strands of hair hanging down around her face and along the back of her slender neck.
Kikyo had and elegant tiara that was fashioned out of white gold and embellished with tiny pearls. Her thin veil was connected onto the back of the tiara. It flowed behind her softly swaying when she would move. Kikyo wore only a simple strand of pearls around her neck and a pair of matching earrings. She grabbed her large bouquet of white and red roses and met her father, Mr. Takinori, at the door. Kikyo allowed her father to escort her down the aisle towards the altar where Sesshomaru was waiting for her. He was wearing a black Versace tuxedo with a crisp white silk vest underneath to match Kikyo�s wedding gown.
Sesshomaru held out his hand and Kikyo took it immediately. The minister began the ceremony causing the entire church to fall silent. Kikyo began to get teary eyed when it came time for them to exchange vows. �Do you Sesshomaru Nobunaga take this woman to be your lawfully wedded wife? In sickness and in health, for rich or for poor, for better or for worse until death do you part?�
�I do.�
�And do you Kikyo Takinori, take this man to be your lawfully wedded husband? In sickness and in health, for rich or for poor, for better or for worse until death do you part?�
�I do.�
�Then by the power invested in me I pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss the bride.� Sesshomaru pulled Kikyo into a tight embrace and placed a passionate kiss on her lips. They then turned and faced the crowd so that the minister could announce them. �I now announce to you Mr. and Mrs. Sesshomaru Nobunaga!� Everyone cheered as the newly weds hurried out of the church to their waiting limo. Inuyasha who was sitting next to Kagome tapped her shoulder.
�How long do you think that will last?�
�Quite possibly for a very long time. Did you see the way Sesshomaru and Kikyo were looking at each other during the ceremony?�
�So when are you and Mr. Komyoji going to tie the knot?� Kagome�s cheeks reddened as she looked over at her beloved who was busy playing with Lyrie and thankfully had not heard Inuyasha�s question.
�Don�t rush us, it will happen when the time is right.�
�So pretty soon then?�
�Inuyasha!� He chuckled at her as they all stood to leave the church. Outside the church Sesshomaru and Kikyo were climbing into the long white limo that would take them to the airport.
�Well Mrs. Nobunaga are you ready to go to my parent�s summer house in the British Virgin Islands?�
�Yes Mr. Nobunaga. What are we going to do there?�
�We�re going to get started on making a baby that�s what.� Kikyo�s cheeks reddened.
�You want to have a baby Sesshomaru?�
�Yes, don�t you?�
�More than you know. I can�t wait to be pregnant with our first child.� Sesshomaru grinned and then kissed his new bride. Kagome and Kouga walked out of the church together.
�Kagome?�
�Yes Kouga?�
�Do you think you�re ready to get married again?�
�Are you asking me to marry you Kouga?�
�Maybe.�
�Well possibly.�
�Listen Kagome, I�m in love with you and I want to make you my wife. I want you to be Kagome Komyoji, will you?� Kagome stopped short and held Lyrie close to her chest when Kouga suddenly dropped to his knees in front of her. He pulled out a small black box and opened it. Inside was a three karat princess cut diamond engagement ring on a platinum band. Kagome�s blue gray eyes widened at the size of the diamond Kouga had bought for her.
�Oh my god Kouga!�
�Will you Kagome? Will you marry me?�
�I....I....yes Kouga, yes I�ll marry you!� He grabbed her left hand and slipped the diamond ring on her finger.
�I love you Kagome Higurashi!�
�I love you too Kouga Komyoji!� The two kissed and headed towards Kouga�s silver Lexus IS300.
At Tokyo�s airport Sesshomaru and Kikyo were boarding a plane to the British Virgin Islands. They took their seats in first class once their luggage had been loaded onto the plane. �What made you decide to call me that night you showed up on my doorstep Sesshomaru?�
�You really want to know?�
�Yes really.�
�Well Kagome and I were still kind of involved you might say and we were having some problems.�
�Like what?�
�Like she had begun a relationship with Kouga and was developing strong feelings for him.�
�I see.�
�Kagome told me that we�re not right for each other and we never would be. She made me realize that I had never really stopped caring about you Kikyo.�
�Well then I guess I can thank Kagome for falling in lovth Kth Kouga.�
�As strange as it sounds yes I guess you can.�
�So what about Kagome and Inuyasha, weren�t they married?�
�Yes they were until I drove them apart.�
�Do you think they will get back together?�
�I seriously doubt that will ever happen. I think that Kagome is finished being romantically involved with the Nobunaga brothers. She seems happy with Kouga and she deserves that.�
�Wow you must have really cared about Kagome to be able to wish her well.�
�Yes I did love Kagome, just not the way I should have. We fed off of each other�s insecurities and it only served to destroy our relationship.�
�Well let�s not make the same mistake.�
�That won�t be a problem darling. You and I are a perfect fit. We were truly meant for one another and I should have never tried to change that.�
�I should have never tried to force you into anything either.�
�You were only trying to get what you knew you wanted. I was just afraid to admit that I wanted it too. Kikyo I have been in love with you for as long as I can remember. I think what happened between Kagome and I was my need to have everything that Inuyasha desired or wanted.�
�So you pursued Kagome because Inuyasha had her first?�
�As childish as that sounds, yes. I ruined Kagome and Inuyasha�s happy marriage simply because I was greedy and wanted her for myself.�
�Sesshomaru, how could you do such a thing?�
�I didn�t say I was proud of it Kikyo, but I did get my punishment in the end.�
�Such as?�
�Such as Kagome continuing to sleep with Inuyasha. I also at one time believed that Kagome�s little girl was mine.�
�But?�
�But she turned out to be Inuyasha�s little girl instead.�
�Were you angry?�
�Of course, I wanted that little girl to be mine.� Kikyo patted Sesshomaru�s hand softly.
�Well don�t worry darling, we�ll have our own children soon enough.� He grinned impishly at her.
�With any luck we�ll be expecting our first child by the end of our honeymoon.� Kikyo laughed out loud at Sesshomaru�s remark.
�I take it we won�t be doing much sight seeing then Sesshomaru?�
�Oh we�ll be doing plenty of sight seeing from the bed in our honeymoon suite.� Her cheeks reddened instantly at Sesshomaru�s blunt remark. �Oh don�t act all shy now darling, not after all we�ve been through.� Kikyo laid her head on Sesshomaru�s shoulder.
�I�m so glad that wee found our way back to each other Sess.�
�Me too Kikyo, you make me feel complete almost like we were made for each other.�
�We were made for each other honey. God created the two of us so that we could meet and fall in love.� Sesshomaru smiled and placed a tender kiss upon the top of his wife�s head.
�You�re the most incredible woman I�ve ever met Kikyo Nobunaga.�
�That�s why I�m the perfect woman for you.�
�How do you figure?�
�Because I make you think and keep you on your toes.�
�That is a fact darling, we will never have a dull moment in our marriage.� The two shared a laugh and then settled in so that they could just enjoy each other�s company. Sesshomaru began to quietly reflect everything that had happened between himself and Kagome.
�I was such a fool for ever chasing after a happily married woman. Kagome loved Inuyasha and I had to ruin that for the both of them. And for what, so I could make Kagome miserable? We should never have been together at all. Our lives would have been a lot simpler if I would have just left Kagome alone. She and Inuyasha would probably still be married and in love. I single handedly cost Inuyasha the woman that he loved. Inuyasha loves her still but there�s no way that he�ll ever have her back again. No Kagome is in love with Kouga now and she�s not looking back. If I would have just given Kikyo what she desired I would have never become so fixated with my little brother�s wife.�

Sesshomaru chanced a glance at his new wife to see that she had fallen asleep. He smiled to himself as he carefully brushed away a fallen strand of hair that hung in her face. Kikyo looked like a raven haired angel sleeping in the seat next to him. He looked down and noticed that she was still holding his hand even though she had fallen asleep. �She�s the most perfect and beautiful creature on this planet. How could I have ever denied her anything? Now I can truly let go of Kagome without any regrets. I only hope that Inuyasha will be able to find happiness as I have.� Sesshomaru leaned his head against Kikyo�s and allowed his amber eyes to drift shut. Yes his chaotic train wreck of a life had finally fallen into place.
Now that Kikyo was back in his arms Kagome was out of his heart exactly where she should have always been. Now he was free to move forward and begin a new life with his precious Kikyo. Sesshomaru had been given a second chance at happiness and he wasn�t going to waste it by making foolish choices.
