Inuyasha leaned back to look into his new mate's big brown eyes. She
gazed back with a soft smile. He cupped her warm flushed cheeks before
touching his lips to hers. When she sighed, deepening the kiss, he shivered
with delight. The aroma of her want was honey thick, making
it hard to think. Moving with her, they lay together on the bed. He crawled
over her, placing tiny pecks on her cheek, chin, and neck.
The sound of her heart slowed to a rhythmic thump as her breathing deepened.
"Inuyasha."
A sudden feeling rushed through him at the whisper of his name. It felt
like excitement, protectiveness, and a craving need all at once. He
wanted them to feel good together. He wanted to touch every inch of her
before....
With a light caress, he moved aside the pale green dress
strap till his kisses found the soft skin just above her milky white
breast. There, he began to lick, finding it much more enjoyable and
Kagome seemed to like it to. He licked lower, pulling down the neckline
of the dress till he came to the center of her chest.
Beneath him, Kagome shuddered, letting out quiet sighs while her
scent grew stronger. The incredible smell made his head spin.
He wanted to rip the dress off and make her body completely his. It took
great effort not to. "Kagome." He said between two small kisses.
"Hmmm?" She hummed back.
"I really want you." He tried to growl but it came out more of a
desperate moan.
She looked at him with a fuzzy gaze that smiled with
some strong emotion. "You are so beautiful. Ever since I saw your face I...I
wanted you. And your ears." She reached up and stroked them.
Inuyasha closed his eyes at the sensation. He loved it when she touched
them.
"I...like that." He stumbled to say as her fingers rubbed the fur.
"What else do you like?" She asked, her voice lower.
"I just like you to touch me, Kagome. I like to feel your touch on my
skin...anywhere." He managed to breathe out.
To his surprise she began to explore. Finding a nimble way of untying
his red tunic. She caressed his chest and stomach and shoulders before
reaching up to tangle small fingers in his hair. As her hands wandered
over his heated skin, he kissed her forehead before tasting her mouth
again. Licking her warm wet lip, he molded himself against her, letting go of
thought and giving in to his body and senses.

Kagome couldn't think for the feeling of being with him was so strong.
She wanted to tell him over and over that she loved him, over and over
that she would be with him forever. The emotion felt like the world was
moving within her soul, swinging her back and forth in a cradle of
warmth and pure happiness. She wanted him so much but at the same time
wanted so much to please him: make him feel her love.
She tasted his lips and mouth while touching his
bare chest and shoulders. Needing to give herself completely to him, Kagome
took his hand and led it to her breast. At first, his palm just rested
there, but then she felt a rubbing caress followed by a delicate
squeeze.
Kagome wasn't too surprised when he growled into her mouth. She smiled.
"Like that?"
He paused, resting and breathing hard. "I...This is...I want you so badly, but
I don't know if I can control myself. I've never mated before.
What... What if I hurt you? I couldn't forgive myself if I did. Maybe..
we should slow down. Just...Just slow down."
Kagome touched his cheek. "Maybe we are going a little fast.
It's okay. We have all the time in the world. We can just 'make out' or
snuggle. I love you, Inuyasha. I don't think you'll hurt me but if you
want to slow down, it's okay with me." She gave him a kiss on the nose.
"I'm just happy to be with you."

Inuyasha, calming down, gave her a smile. "I love you, Kagome. I haven't loved
anyone since my mother died. I've been alone for so long. I didn't
realize how much I missed her until I met you. When I think of her now,
it doesn't hurt so much because of what I feel for you. You make me
stronger, Kagome."
Moving around in the bed, he pulled the blanket and sheet back then covered
them both, snuggling, as Kagome put it, up to her warm body as
she cuddled up with him.

Kagome sighed again as she stared out the classroom window while thinking
of her hanyou mate back at Kikyo's. It had all happened so fast but she
new in her heart that she was truly happy. She smiled to herself
remembering how he didn't want her to leave that morning and how he
followed her to the door, giving her a hug and kiss before she left.
What would happen to them now? Could she keep their union a secret from
Kikyo? Kikyo was a master at knowing youkai. Would she be able to tell
if they were mated? And if Kikyo did find out what would happen to
Inuyasha? Would she kill him?
Kaogme frowned as a sudden pinch of fear pricked her chest.

Kikyo would kill Inuyasha.
It then dawned on Kagome that she had put
Inuyasha in great danger by allowing him to mark her as his mate.
The fear in her chest began spreading to her stomach, making her sick.
What could she do?
Absently, she fingered the cloth of her training robe just above the
place where Inuyasha had marked her, making some of the fear settle but
didn't get rid of it completely.
Taking in an assertive breath, Kagome decided to find a way to free
Inuyasha so he would be safe.

It was lunchtime when Kagome walked through the ancient library doors.
The high ceiling was
painted with images of great Mikos and Monks from the past battling
youkai of all shapes and sizes; animal and mythical beasts of lore.
The old library was one of the buildings on the temple grounds and it
smelled of yellowed paper and dusty leather. Shelves and Shelves of books
lined up in rows, high enough to need a ladder to get to the ones on top.
She gave a curt bow to the assistant then began her search. It took a while
but finally found the book she was looking for: (The Miko's guide
to casting and breaking barriers on youkai) Carefully, she pulled
the five pound leather bound book from the shelf then plopped it on a table
nearby. The index led her straight to barrier spells. She knew Kikyo had a
powerful spell surrounding her home. It didn't let youkai in and it didn't
allow them to leave. Inuyasha and Ayame were trapped.
Kagome grimaced at the words. The book said that a strong barrier spell
over a great area could only be created by a Miko of the highest order.
Her power was what gave the barrier it's strength. The stronger the miko,
the stronger the barrier. The spell had to be cast once every month to maintain
it in that one area. Only the Miko who had cast the spell could break it
or move youkai in or out of it. It wasn't made with sutras but with
large round holy stones. The stones, once spelled, could not be moved until
the spell was broken.
Irritated, Kagome shut the book. There was no way she could get Inuyasha
out. She bit her bottom lip, the bitter pang of fear gathering in her gut
again. What was she going to do?

Inuyasha, sitting near the front door, let out a silent sigh.
He had been there most of
the day. Even though he knew Kagome wasn't due home till after four,
some bit of hope kept tugging at him that she might come home early.
"She isn't going to be home for another hour." Ayame told him while
sweeping the foyer and part of the living room floor.
He ignored the wolf. What did she know?
Ayame humphed while working.
"I could smell you on her at breakfast. She tried to hide it but I could
tell you marked her. Any youkai within a mile can smell it too. Stupid
hanyou. If Mistress Kikyo finds out she will kill you and throw Miss Kagome
out. What were you thinking? Or were you thinking? Or were you just
concerned with how you felt at the time?" Ayame shook her head. "Stupid
hanyou."
A sudden pain of realization hit. Ayame was right. "Stop calling me
stupid, wolf. It's none of your business anyway." He grouched, trying to
cover up his growing fear.
He had been stupid.

When Kagome came through the door, Inuyasha greeted her with a hug,
holding her snug and safe. His mate hugged him back. "Wow." She said. "Glad
to see me?"
He nodded. "I was worried. I forgot other youkai could smell me on you from
the mark and all. I was stupid to put you in danger like that."
She backed up, holding his hand. "I was worried too. I didn't
think last night. If Kikyo finds out she'll kill you. I...just got caught
up in the moment and didn't think, Inuyasha." The shine of tears welled up
in her eyes. "I don't know what to do. You're in danger now and I don't
know what to do."
He hugged her again. "We'll figure out something, Kagome. Don't worry
about me. I'll be alright. We just have to keep it a secret from Kikyo,
that's all."

It was time for bed. Inuyasha, sitting on the floor, watched Kagome
get ready to turn in. He wanted to sleep with her but didn't
know if that was such a good idea since he didn't really know when
Kikyo was going to be back.
She sat on the bed asking him with her eyes why he wasn't getting in
bed with her.
"I'll sleep on the floor tonight."
She frowned sadly with a slow nod, absently touching her sleeping gown
where he had marked her. "Okay."
"He sat up and laid his head in her lap. "I want to sleep next to you
but I'm afraid. What if Kikyo comes back tonight? If she kills me I won't be
able to protect you."
He felt her light caress on his ears and head. She spoke softly but not
too sadly. "I understand, Inuyasha."
