Misfortune Followed Us Home ch. 26
“Nobody wants to see that rat bastard,” Inuyasha raged. “Where is Kagome?”
“Kagome,” Rukoshi questioned. “Who is Kagome?”
“What the fuck do you mean who is Kagome,” Inuyasha shouted. “The last time we saw her she was with that bastard!”
“Would it not make sense then cousin, to speak with Sesshoumaru as he requested?”
At this Inuyasha blushed. “Yeah, yeah, lets just go already,” he mumbled under his breath.
“This way,” Rukoshi replied with no small amount of amusement in his tone as he led the tachi into the shiro.
“Nice to see you too Inuyasha,” Sango remarked dryly as they followed Rukoshi through the maze of hallways and staircases.
“Ch. I wasn’t worried about you two, you can take care of yourselves. Kagome is like a baby, she needs protecting.”
“You’re under estimating her,” Sango replied. “Kagome can take care of herself just fine, you’ll see.” The rest of the walk was spent in silence other than the innocent chatter of the children.
The door slammed open and Inuyasha stormed through the opening, “Oi bastard! Where is Kagome?”
“Sit down Inuyasha,” Sesshoumaru a bit exasperatedly.
“Not until you tell me where Kagome is!”
Sesshoumaru stood, walked around the desk and stood in front of Sango. “Taijiya, come with me,” he said as he turned to leave the room. “The rest of you will wait here, the taijiya will return with the miko.”
“Fine,” Inuyasha barked, “but hurry it up. I don’t wanna stay here any longer than I have to.”
They walked down the hall in silence for a while, the only sound being the click-clack of Sesshoumaru’s boots on the polished wood floors.
“Um Sesshoumaru-sama,” Sango inquired. He continued to walk silently for a minute before Sango dared to try to ask her question.
“Uh well –“ she began. In response, Sesshoumaru looked over his shoulder, as if daring her to say another word. Her mouth closed with a decisive snap and she continued walking behind him, fiddling with her fingers. Not long after, they rounded a corner and stopped in front of a large wooden door. The door was carved with the story of the creation of Inu youkai and there was no discernable way to open it.
“Taijiya.”
“Hai S – Sesshoumaru-sama,” she responded.
“Some things have occurred since we were separated. Specifically many things have changed with the miko. I will not elaborate since the changes to her will be obvious to all. Explain to the miko her new condition. There is a lonceng-jujutan next to the door, pull it and a servant will direct you back to the study.” Having said all he intended to, he put his palm onto the door and allowed his youki to seep into the aged wood. The door swung open and he directed Sango to a room at the end of the hall. He placed his hand on the door and unlocked it. Then he turned around and left to return to the study.
