The council met that evening. Lillian had gone out with Sesshoumaru to survey the damage and she was sickened. “It’s like a bad horror movie.” She murmured watching as people chased others. The depravity and viciousness made her angry. A plan began to form in her mind. One that she was careful not to share. Delno was apparently massing his forces in the mountains and since there were fewer people there, they council agreed that taking the fight to him was the best option. “Nothing like baptism by fire is there?” Kagome asked softly at her side. Lillian looked over that smiling woman. “I’d say you have no idea but something tells me you do. Only too well.” “You can do it though. Sesshoumaru and Youko believe in you. If I knew nothing else about you, that would be enough. Besides they will be there, Inuyasha and of course I am going so we will help you.” “Do you like being married to Inuyasha?” she found herself asking. Kagome blinked and then smiled. “He’s lots of bluster. Truth is I pretty much get to have or do whatever I want. He can be a little overprotective at times but it just shows how much he cares. Tell you a secret?” Lillian leaned closer. “Those brothers aren’t that different at all. And when all of this is over and done, I can tell Inuyasha that I want to have a baby”. Images of her nightmare floated through her mind and Lillian made her decision then and there. “I am so happy for you!” she said and she meant it. They packed what they needed and departed for the mountains at dawn. By traditional methods it would take several hours to arrive. When they did arrive, Lillian said she was tired and wanted to rest alone. They had set up an area for her at the edge of camp. Sesshoumaru had balked wanting her to be in the center of the camp but she refused to budge. Youko finally convinced Sesshoumaru to let her have her way, there was a barrier up. No one and nothing could get closer without alerting everyone. Besides he silently added, they would be right in there with her. What danger was there? That night, she loved them to oblivion. Youko had set up a barrier to block the sounds from the others and it covered the whole of their large tent, melding with the perimeter barrier. She had kept her plan from her mind, focusing on the touches and tastes of her lovers with near desperation. Then as they had reached their peaks she had used a gentle nudge of her powers to send them deep into dreams. She rose, dressed and tucked her weapons into place. She bent over each, pressed a kiss to pale brows. “Can there ever be any guarantees in life? I’ve asked myself, what do I know? I know I’ll always love you. It’s enough. Forgive me.” She slipped from the tent without a backwards glance. Her mind made up. She would go and let them have her. They wouldn’t kill her, Delno wanted her powers. Maybe she could save the others. “Do you know what you’re doing?” Asked the sweet Mekharat beside her as she laid her hand against the barrier.” “Not really” she admitted. “You have a watertight plan?” “Uh, there are holes.” She looked away sheepishly, “Probably way too many.” The Mekharat smiled, “Ah my favorite!” “Please” Lillian whispered to the barrier and her own powers, “Let me pass through without alerting them.” And the barrier shimmered and opened like a curtain and she slipped through watching the power weave itself back together. Then she was off at a run in the general direction of the enemy. Delno paused in his actions of thrusting into the vapid blonde bent over the table before him. Her ass was losing its tightness and use to him. His head tipped back and he opened his mouth, scenting and tasting the breeze. Ahhh. The Mekharat was moving. She was alone and headed towards him. “What plan do you have my lovely?” He shoved the girl from the table thrusting his still hard sex at her. “Suck in clean and get out.” Wide empty eyes stared vacant as her body obeyed. When she was finished, he shoved himself back in his pants and walked to the door of his cabin. “Prepare a greeting party. She comes!” Then he turned and strode to the shower, flipping on the hot taps and barked for fresh clothing. He pointed at the once friend of the Mekharat. “Dispose of that. Quickly. I will finally have her; I don’t want trash lying about.” The blonde whimpered slightly when she was hoisted up and carried to the lesser denizens of the camp. “That little…” Inuyasha griped, “What kind of retard just walks out to the enemy?” Sesshoumaru and Youko had woken minutes after her departure but try as they might they had been unable to find her. That meant only one thing. Delno already had her. Kagome knew that the demon lord and fox were seething mad. “Inuyasha!” she snapped, “You aren’t helping!” He threw his arms out, “Well?!” She twisted her fingers and stared at the floor. Youko noticed right away. “What is it Kagome?” “I… I confided a secret to her” Kagome whispered. “I think that she ran off to face him alone because she doesn’t want anyone to be hurt or to die.” “That’s stupid.” Inuyasha muttered. “And who are the retards that pulled those same stunts so many times?” she demanded. Hands on hips she stared down her husband, then her brother in law and then the fox. They had all been guilty of such things. “She should have trusted us to take care of it.” Inuyasha said quietly. “Exactly” Sesshoumaru added. Kagome face palmed, “You two just agreed…. With witnesses.” Youko threw his hands up, “That’s it, we’re fucked now. Worlds ending.” She cracked a small smile, but Sesshoumaru was up. Tokijin slipped into his obi. When fighting he preferred his feudal clothing. “Sesshoumaru?” she called as he advanced past her into the early morning light. “After this. She will not question again. I shall prove myself.” Kagome ran after him, laying her hand on his arm. He looked down into her eyes when she held him but said nothing. “Did you ever think that its Lillian who thinks she has to prove herself to you?” ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Just as Lillian had thought they came out and surrounded her, demanded she drop her sword. She drove it deep into the earth and demanded that they take her to Delno. She wanted to see the face that haunted her dreams. That much was true but of course could be interpreted in a number of ways. They had shackled her hands and gagged her. Mekharat powers were strange and they were taking no chances. Lillian tried not to roll her eyes at the simple measures that would do nothing to stop her. “Are you certain that’s enough?” Asked a priestess from the back of the group. A shadow passed overhead and they looked up to see a scrawny demon in flight. He reminded Lillian of the aliens that popped out of people’s chests from that movie. “Sesshoumaru is on the move. Hurry!” Whatever else was to be said was lost as they rushed her along. Finally a burly demon slung her over his shoulder. Knocking the wind from her. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ She was dumped at Delno’s feet with all the pomp and ceremony of a sack of rice. She blinked up at him. He was the face from her dreams and she could vividly recall his taste and touch. She had to keep her cool. “Hello Mekharat.” He purred. She forced herself to her feet and fluttered her lashes before peering up him from beneath him as she had seen her once-self do in a dream. She thought of the nights of pleasure between herself and the silver haired sensuality she had left sleeping. She let that heat and longing creep into her eyes. Saw Delno’s eyes darken and his nostrils flare. “You desire me so much?” He threw his head back and laughed with true delight. Then he stepped closer until they were nose to nose. “Oh you shall have me, “he assured her, “But first lets wash dog and fox from you shall we?” ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ She was bathed and dressed as the original. Her hair brushed until it shown. “Once you swear your love and fealty to me before the others and the great seal, we can begin the ritual to return you to all of your former glory.” She forced herself to smile coyly and lick her lips. He took this as an invitation, capturing her lips in a heated kiss. She wanted to choke, wanted to bite but she forced herself to calm and participate in the kiss, even demand another from him. The words of the previous Mekharat looping wildly through her brain. He was warded at present. Any killing intent would trigger his protection. But, during the ritual, he would not be. She had to carefully bide her time. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Sesshoumaru and Youko fought their way through minions as they drew closer to the main camp. They could scent blood and old magic on the air. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Lillian let them lead her to the center of the elaborate carving of the great seal. From the shadows she saw the first watching eagerly. Oh that woman clearly wanted a flesh and blood body again. Delno stepped close to her, painted the seals on her. And she moaned as though his touch was pleasurable. When he slapped a glowing shackle around her throat, she felt panic. She could feel it drawing her power out, leaving her feeling weakened. “Just in case you have some brilliant plan to put into motion.” He purred against her ear and licked the shell. Damn right she did. And she needed to do it fast. “Just a kiss.” “Tempting me?” he asked, studying her. She shrugged, with a small smile, “You have sealed my powers away.” ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Sesshoumaru broke into the clearing just as Delno fused his mouth with Lillian’s. He watched as her tongue battled his out of her mouth and into his own and felt a sinking feeling. A woman only kissed like that when she wanted to be taken. When she sought the contact and touch of the other. His eyes bled red. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Lillian felt Delno gather her close and she slowly bit down on his lip. He purred into her mouth at the aggressive touch and when her knee slid against his groin he dragged her even closer. Lillian released all of her anger and rage in that moment. She had two points of contact with him. Red shot out from her body. Distantly she heard the first shouting and there was the clash and clang of weapons being drawn and people moving. She flooded the struggling Delno with her power. He tore his head back but she kept hold of him. When his lower lip detached he stumbled back and fell and she pounced. Her bound hands a hindrance but she draped herself over him. He tried to push her off, cuffed her upside the head abut she wrapped her legs around him and bit into his shoulder. He was strong and her powers were still largely locked away. She willed the power to kill him, mentally pleaded with him to die. Unaware that both Sesshoumaru and Youko were so close and could hear her every thought now. “We have to do something. She’s bound!” Youko shouted over the din of fighting. Sesshoumaru made his way to the seal reaching for her. “Don’t!” Youko screamed, “While in Kihart, she will kill any demons near her!” “I know” “Then?” ‘She will die if we don’t’ ‘Damn you to the seven levels of hell and back again dog!’ Sesshoumaru let his claws bleed green with acid. Youko grabbed hold of her head and she screamed around the mouthful of Delno she refused to release. Youko cried out as her powers singed and burned him, began to purify him. “Hurry up already!” Then Sesshoumaru clamped down on the glowing collar and his acid burned through it. It blistered delicate skin beneath it and the newly freed Mekharat lashed out at both unseeing. Sesshoumaru took a hard jolt to his shoulder and it threw him back several feet, Youko was just able to roll away from her. She reached after him, her eyes not knowing him. “Remember your target.” The previous whispered to her. Her ghostly hands forcing Lillian’s back to Delno. His body convulsed under the full power of her wrath. “He will not live” the previous told her, “Let go. Let go Lillian!” And she did, falling backwards as he writhed in agony. His wounded eyes rolled to lock on her, filled with love and sorrow. His hand clasping uselessly. “Did… you love me?” he panted out, blood spattering over her chest as she lifted his head into her lap. And she let her eyes fill with tears for him. She nodded and wiped his lips clean. “I did. I truly did” she whispered to him, “Once. Long, long ago.” He reached up and she laced their hands together. “F…forgive?” She nodded. “I do” and she meant it. For herself, for all of the Mekharats. He gave a small smile and slipped from life forever. The slow clap of hands drew her attention. “How touching.” The first spat at her. Lillian wanted to hate the woman before her, wanted to with all of her heart. But she had lived this woman’s brightest day and darkest night. She slowly laid Delno on the ground a rose. She could taste his blood in her mouth. Felt darkness in her heart. Threatening to grow. To consume her. “I’m not like you” she said. The first laughed, “How are we different? You lied to him, toyed with his emotions to gain your advantage. Well played. And like me you took demon lovers and killed them.” Her hand gestured to the crumpled silver haired figures laying several feet away. Lillian felt her heart break. Had she killed them? ‘Youko?’ ‘Sesshoumaru?’ Silence and she swallowed hard. “So what now Mekharat?” the first asked, spreading her arms wide to the carnage and fighting that had erupted around them. “Do you give me your body? Or do I kill you anyway?” “You can have my body” Lillian told her. She held her arms out to the other woman. The first shook her blue black curls, “I am not a fool. I will not come so close to you.” “I cannot kill you with these powers.” Lillian said. “No, not kill.” She dropped her arms, “Then listen to what I have to say and then you can take my body… if you are able.” The first drew a vicious looking sword. Lillian took up the sword that Delno had carried. “I am sorry” Lillian said then. “For what? For being a pathetic copy of me?” “For your king.” Those ruby eyes went wide for a moment. “What?” “I am sorry that your love died too soon. You were truly happy together.” “What the hell would you know about it?!” The first lunged and tired as she was; Lillian was able to block the attacks. “I saw it.” “Impossible.” “The stone archway, the circlet of gold in the fountain.” “Shut up!” she hacked angrily. Her power dancing along the blade and it stung where it touched Lillian. Lillian tried to force her own to fight as well, but it was sluggish. “I’m sorry that you never got to actually be the queen he wanted you to be.” “Shut up!” a deep slash to the arm and Lillian bit back a cry. The first charged at her and Lillian was able to knock the blade from her hands. But the first was quick and pulled a dagger from her belt. She cut Lillian’s cheek deeply. “Don’t speak of what you don’t know!” Lillian let her in on the next lung, feeling the bite of the blade in her stomach. The first’s eyes went wide as Delno’s sword sliced through her. She stood impaled in confusion for a long moment. Then Lillian pulled her closer, embracing the woman who was killing her as she took them both the ground. “And I’m sorry for your son.” The first’s eyes clouded with tears. “H…he was a happy child. We called him…. The….” “Smiling boy” Lillian finished. “They killed him.” “I know. I’m sorry” “Loved him.” “More than anything. I know.” “How can… you?” “I am you… you are me. Al…ways have been.” “Hate you…” “Love you.” The first closed her eyes and Lillian forced her last bit of power into the other woman. Ending her life. Then her own world grew dark and she slumped against the woman beside her. “Lillian!” Kagome cried out. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Darkness was not frightening. Death was not cold or cruel. Lillian had long ago accepted that. As a soldier she knew only too well that death was that unseen patrol member. He walked beside you every day and then one day he would take you away. There was no joy in it. He didn’t have bony hands which he rubbed together in glee. He didn’t cackle at the end. He simply looked at you, held out a hand and said “Are you ready? It’s time to go.” He was the one who was with you from the moment you were conceived and never left you. Never. Death, in Lillian’s mind was loving and steadfast. Walking with you through baby steps and near misses when he let you feel his peace. No, she did not regret knowing him. She didn’t really regret going with him now. She sat there staring at him and he smiled softly. “I’m ready?” she told him. “That right?” he asked. She nodded, reaching out to take his hand and he clapped her warmly on the shoulder. “Works not done.” He told her. She blinked. “What?” He shook his head, “You can’t come with me yet.” “Why not? Why are you here?” “You got pretty banged up for sure. But you will pull through this.” She huffed, “I’m having a near death experience?” He laughed softly, his light green eyes lit with mirth, “Sweetheart, everyday life is a near death experience. Most people just don’t know it.” She considered that for a moment. "How long has it been?" "You've been here with me for nearly a week. I had to leave a few times. Sesshoumaru and Youko cut a bloody swath through the others. Lots of people to take home." “You don’t want me then?” He rose from his position, “Hell, I don’t want anyone. But it’s the natural conclusion. When I come back for you?” “I’ll greet you as a boon companion and lifelong friend.” She promised. He patted her cheek lightly, “Go get em girl.” ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Lillian slowly opened her eyes to find two pairs of golden eyes staring down at her. While AFF and its agents attempt to remove all illegal works from the site as quickly and thoroughly as possible, there is always the possibility that some submissions may be overlooked or dismissed in error.
