The Caring Sensei

Hey everyone! *Does the happy dance* You guys are so sweet to me! To answer a few questions from the reviews: 1. Yes, I'm making Kikyo nice in here. Personally, I'm not very fond of her, but I decided a change in personality for the fic would be a good idea. 2. Don't worry, Inuyasha isn't like 50, he's only 23. That makes him and Kagome about 6 years apart. I'm going to make Kagome turn 18 before the real good stuff comes though. 3. I understand the long chapters are necessary, but my computer is under repairs, so I have to borrow someone else's till tonight or tomorrow. Once I get my computer back, the chapters won't be any shorter than 10 pages each, I promise.
Anyways, any other questions and/or comments are greatly appreciated. I'm glad you all like my fic. And now, on with the show, lol.


Chapter 3 - The Elevator Chat


"M-Mr. Shikon, it's nice to see you again," Kagome said, while clutching her books to her chest. 'Kami, he is so handsome.' "Yes, I didn't know you lived here Kagome, when did you move in?" "I just moved here a few days ago, a little place on the 4th floor." "You'redingding? That's where I live as well," said Mr. Shikon. "By the way, you don't have to be so formal around here. You can just call me Inuyasha, although at school it's Mr. Shikon though." "Yes sir, I mean Inuyasha," said Kagome. Just as they were passing the second floor, the elevator shaft jerked and then stopped in between the 2nd and 3rd floors. "What's going on?" asked Kagome. "It's these damn elevators, that's the second time they've broke this month. I knew I should have just taken the stairs today." Inuyasha then reached into his pocket, grabbed his cell phone, and dialed a number. "Hey jerk, are you home.... yeah, the elevator broke again, but I've got someone else with me this time.... yeah, just get the damn landlord over here to fix it.... NANI??? What do you mean he won't be back till 5?.... Can't you get someone else to come fix it?.... Fine then, but he won't be happy to see me when I get out of this fucking place.... Okay, byes." Inuyasha shut off his cell phone and sat down on the floor. "You might as well relax Kagome, it'll be a while before someone comes over here."

Kagome took the hint and sat a couple feet from Inuyasha. For a while, they just sat there in silence. Finally, Kagome couldn't take it anymore.

"So, who was that you called anyways?"

"Oh, that was my brother, Sesshomaru. He and I share an apartment together. We may not be the best of friends, but at least it's better than what it used to be. How bout you, do you live with your parents?"

Kagome paused before answering. "No.... I live here be myself actuall

"How, you're only 17, aren't you?"

"Yeah. My aunt signed the lease for me, but I'm the one that lives here and pays for it."

"Really? These apartments are kinda expensive, how you you afford it?"

"Well... before my dad died, he was a very rich and powerful lawyer. Unlike most of them though, he put away most of the money he earned, so my family had a few million in life savings. A couple years ago, he died from an unknown illness, but my mom and my brother were still able to live off of what was there in savings. And then, after my mom and brother died, There was still enough in the savings for me to live out of for a few years."

A few tears escaped from Kagome's eyes, and she tried to rub them away before Inuyasha noticed. Fortunately, he did, and wiped them away whis his hand.

"It's alright. My mother and father also died a few years ago as well. While I was in college, my brother and my dad owned Shikon Industries, maybe you've heard of it? Anyways, one night after work, my mother and father went out to eat, to catch up on all the time they missed. When they were walking home though, a mugger jumped out and tried to rob my father. He grabbed my mother and held a gun against her throat, saying if he didn't give him all his money, then he would shoot my mother. Unfortunately, just as my father was giving him the money, he shot my mother and then my father, grabbed the money and ran. By the time the police found my parents, it was too late."

Kagome gasped in shock as she looked Inuyasha in the eyes. "Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry."

Inuyasha sighed. "It's okay. After all that, my brother and I made up after a long fight we had, and moved into these apartments together. It's been like this for about 3 years now." Hen wrn wrapped his arms around Kagome, noticing she was crying again. "Shh... don't cry, it'll be alright.." Inuyasha whispered into her ear as he rocked her in his arms. Kagome laid her head on his chest and slowly calmed down.


After what felt like hours to them, Kagome finally stopped crying and sat up to look into his eyes. They were filled with caring and understanding, and also something else she couldn't quite make out. Finally, she realized that they were only a couple inches away from each other. Kagome turned her head slightly and whispered, "Arigato, Inuyasha." Inuyasha then turned grabbed her chin and lightly pulled her face to look at him once again. "I'm here for you Kagome, don't you forget that." Inuyasha then broke the barrier between then and gave her a chaste kiss on her lips. 'Wow, her lips are so soft, so warm, they're amazing' Kagome jumped back, a little shocked at what had just happened. Inuyasha then realized it as well, and said, "Oh my gosh Kagome, I am so sor-" Kagome cut him off and kissed him again, this time longer. Inuyasha took advantage of the situation and nipped lightly at her bottom lip, asking for entrance. She willingly applied, and the two tounged danced together in a battle for dominance. After a few minutes, they ran out of breath, and just sat there, still in shock as to what happened.

Kagome once again broke the silence. "Inuyasha, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to-" Inuyasha put his finger to her lips to silence her. "Let's talk about this later. Meet me at my place at 7. Room 443, okay?" She nodded in agreement. The elevator then started up again, and took them to the 4th floor. Inuyasha followed Kagome and walked her to her door. "Don't forget," Inuyasha said as her placed a soft kiss on her cheek, and walked towards his own apartment. Kagome stood outside for a few minutes as she watched Inuyasha turn the corner, thinking about what she had just done. 'Aunt Kikyo, I changed my mind about what I said yesterday. I KNOW it was a good thing for me to move here.' Kagome thought as she walked into her apartment and shut the door.

Yay, a longer chapter. And a kiss in the elevator, how romantic!!! Anyways, I hope you guys enjoyed that. I know there are times when everyone is OOC, but hey, it makes the story more interesting, huh? Alrighty then, you know what to do.
