Breakfast was a nervous affair, the children cried because they would be left behind again. The adults were on edge because they didn't know what awaited them in Inu Yasha s forest or beyond.
The sun had long since arisen and took her place in the sky, bathing the land in her beautiful rays.
Two streaks one almost silver the other white raced through the forest, in the sky above was Kilala carrying Sango and Miroku all were armed and ready for anything that could happen.
"Look at our little sister go Miroku, you would think she was born a youkai ne?" for the first time in that morning she smiled at him.
"It would seem so my dear Sango, it would appear she is suited to be just that", he answered her with a smile of his own.
Kagome was amazed at her new self; the speed at which she was racing was exhilarating. She looks to Sesshoumaru who was racing by her side, he is such an enigma? she often wondered what was it about her that made him show such emotion? But that was something to worry about later. Now she had other things to think about. Like this feeling, she kept having that something was going to go terribly wrong today.
Kagome and Sesshoumaru came to a stop in the clearing where the Bone eaters well was. Kailia landed moments later Sango and Miroku jumped off just as Inu Yasha and Kikyo entered the clearing.
"So my reincarnation I see you are still not dead?" Kikyo stated but Inu Yasha just looked shocked shaking his head. Though the scent was still the same, he couldn't believe this youkai before him was Kagome.
"What have you done bitch? I give you life and this is what you do with it?" Kagome growled the smell of fresh blood assaulting her nose. Sesshoumaru stood silently by her side watching his half brother who was covered in blood.
"What have you done Inu Yasha? Whos blood are you covered in?" Questioned Sango
Inu Yasha and Kikyo stayed silent only smirked at the group, as they demanded answers. Kikyo whispered something to Inu Yasha he nodded and smiled evilly. He flexed his claws and charged at Kagome only to be stopped by Sesshoumaru as he backhanded him away from her.
The two brothers started fighting Kagome's eyes never left Kikyo, she told Sango and Miroku to go to the village. As soon as they took to the sky, Kikyo fired an arrow at Kagome which she dodges easily.
A frown bloomed on Kikyo s face when she found her holy energy had lessened. Her fear hung heavy in the air like the smell of flowers and Kagome's youkai howled its excitement. Kagome approached Kikyo slowly waiting for her to shoot another arrow. She didn't have to wait long as she streaked toward Kikyo plunging her hand through her back pushing out her heart. Her scream though it didn't last long was music to Kagome's ears. The blue strip on her arm began to tingle as she pulled her hand back. The small spark of her power engulfed Kikyo's body in a blue flame turning her to ash.
Inu Yasha paused in his attack hearing Kikyo s short scream and turned back to see her form turn to ashes. Inu Yasha roared releasing the wind scar at Kagome angry at having lost his Kikyo again.
Sesshoumaru seeing this streaked toward Kagome taking the full blast of the attack. Kagome caught him as he fell back coughing up blood. She laid his head on her lap as she cried
"SESSHOUMARU, why Maru why? Why would you do something so foolish?" she sobs. His golden eyes fluttered open as pain racked his body; he smiled as she tenderly wiped the blood from his face. She was shocked at his smiling face. His vision blurred as he turned his dull golden gaze upward to the sound of her musical voice. "Maru...Maru speak to me please," she begged.
He raised a shaky hand toward her, his lips moved before she heard him speak. She pulled his hand to her face.
"Are you...are you. .okay...little mother?" he whispered before coughing up more blood. Before she could speak his whispered voice came again
"mo-ther?"
" I am ..here Maru...Mothers here my pup," she cried through the rain of tears that swept down her face. She wiped the blood from his face again as he smiled
"I am...glad," he coughed, his body shook from the pain. But through the pain, he felt happy this was the third time in his life he found himself happy. First for saving his little Rin and now for saving his Kagome the third he would close to his soul as he passed from this life to the next. Kagome was stunned as a small laugh came from pain wreck form. She was helpless as she watched him bleeding badly dying in front of her, she heard his heartbeat slowing as his eyes closed.
"Maru... Maru... Please stay with me my pup," she sobs as his body shook again coughing up blood. He gripped the hand rubbing his face lovingly as his golden eyes opened again.
"Mother....mother I see...them"
"See who my pup? Who do you see?"
" Mother...I see. .my. .my. .parents...their. .smiling. .calling me," he whispered her heart broke with his statement. Kagome wiped her face and smiled sadly down at him again wiping the blood from his face.
" Mother?"
"It's okay.. my pup...my s-on. .go to them," she whispered kissing his forehead. He whispered one last thing as his grip on her hand slacked. His golden eyes dulled and closed as he took his last shuttering breath leaving Kagome sobbing.
The sound of laughter brought her out of her despair. Her eyes narrowed taking in the smile on Inu Yasha s face as he laughed and did a little happy dance.
Inu Yasha watched the whole scene in a sort of shock, he couldn't believe, he had killed his half brother. When the shock wore off he laughed, the one they had called weak because of the human blood he did it, he killed that full-blooded, bastard, half brother of his Sesshoumaru. As soon as the laughter started, it was stopped by a feral growl. He straightens as the female youkai lowered his half brother to the ground kissing his forehead, her growls grew in volume as she faced him. The red glow of her eyes couldn't be hidden by the midnight bangs that covered them. The pulse of her energy filled the clearing, grew by the passing seconds, Inu Yasha gulp, and raised his sword again preparing to do battle.
Sesshoumaru's words rang through her head only fueling her angry as it grew steadily. Inu Yasha s laughter help to only make her angry grow by leaps and bounds. Her heart pounded in her ears drowning out everything except her pups last words and the pain in her soul, and even that urged her to rip Inu Yasha apart. Kagome didn't notice the pulse of her energy only the bastard, the evil creature that murder her beloved son. She panted for breath as her eyes glowed red, her fangs and claws lengthen and with a deafening roar she streaked toward him.
Inu Yasha wasn't fast enough to avoid her claws as they sunk into his arms. She threw him into a tree with a sickening crack and smiled viciously as he slid to the ground. He staggered to his feet and she was on him again he knew she had broken some of his ribs with the last punch. He slashed her across the stomach with his claws and watched stunned as she just laughed.
When all his struggling seems useless, he tried to flee. He heard a noise and turn just in time to see her leaping from a tree landing on him driving him into the ground and sinking her claws straight into his chest. Inu Yasha knew she was only playing with him as she leaped away from him.
As he climbs out of the crater, she grabs his foot slamming him into a nearby tree. Again he; climb to his feet wiping the blood from his face. But it did no good she had slashed him across the face with her claws the burning was madding. Damn bitch and her holy powers.
" Playtime is over bitch", he growled blocking her next slash with his sword and attacked her.
" I guess it is DIE INU YASHA," Kagome roared blocking the blade with her claws and threw him across the clearing into the forest leaving a trail of destruction in his path.
Kilala was the first to see it as it blasts through what was left of the trees. The fire neko had been circling the clearing after leaving Sango and Miroku at the village. She saw Kagome as the blast of the wind scar flew toward her. Without thinking, Kilala threw herself into Kagome causing them both to fall into the well. They saw the stones falling around them as they fell into darkness. Both were knocked unconscious as a silver light flared to life around them.
By the time, Sango and Miroku got to the clearing they were shocked by the destruction they found. Inu Yasha came stumbling into the clearing laughing.
" I got you, bitch," His eyes widen as he reached the well and looked in. " No. no that BITCH," he howled slipping to his knees. Sango and Miroku seeing Sesshoumaru dead raced toward the well.
This can t be good, was their collective thought.
"He's dead," Miroku stated checking Inu Yasha bleeding body for signs of life.
"Do you think our sister and Kailia are alive Miroku?" she questioned sadly looking into the empty well her self. "Oh, Kagome, Kilala where are you two?"
"If that strange burst of energy I felt means anything. I believe so my dear Sango. Don t worry I am sure will see them again. Someday," he spoke hugging the crying demon slayer.
" What do we do now?"
" First, we have to bury Kaede and, the others."
"Than oh Kami -sama tell . . . tell Shippo and Rin."
Miroku wrapped his arm around his beloved Sango as they two walked back to the destroyed village. 'Whatever fate has in store for you; little sister I pray that we do meet again. Until then I will see to your children like they were my own'
