Claims being made...
There she was perched in his tree, his home, his refuge. But it was also once his prison, the prison
which she had been the one to free him from. She was there, it didn’t appear that she had noticed
him there, she was just perched there cradling Shippo, cradling him in a most comforting way, the
way a mother comforts a child. He felt a presence deep within his mind, the thought of someone
being in his mind was a concern, but this presence didn’t feel threatening, it was comforting him,
presenting him with his deepest desires. For a moment he thought he saw an image of her cradling
their own child. He was starting to tear, they weren’t tears of pain or suffering, but those of being
able to see what he most wanted. ‘It can be yours Inu Yasha,’ the presence in his mind told him. Inu
Yasha shook his head to clear his thoughts, and blinking that image away he didn't miss her smirk.
"Enough of these mind games Kagome, I know what you are," Inu Yasha said with rising anger in
his voice. "So, you know... well, its better to never fight a battle of wits with someone unarmed," she
said still smirking . "And what is that supposed to mean?" he barked at her not caring to temper his
anger anymore. "Shh. You'll wake the child," she said as she drifted down from the tree to him. She
stroked his cheek and whispered to his ears, "Wouldn't you care for a pup of your own?" He
blushed, he knew she was tempting him, he knew she was waiting for him, and he could guess she
knew he was the center of his dreams even before her powers had awakened. "I know what you want
Inu Yasha?..." she purred to him “But I want to hear it from you...” He hesitated, he knew that this
wasn't the way to get her to be his mate, he wanted her to be lead by true feelings, not infatuation
amplified by her demonic urges. "I would really really, like it if you won't kill me." She backhanded
him, he felt the blow like a whip across his face, albeit a silky whip more intent to exert her anger at
the insult. "I'm not going to kill you Inu Yasha... That is if you don't resist too hard."
Shippo was waking now. The dawning light hit his eyes causing him to squint, he tried to remember
what happened earlier that night. He could only remember rising from where he was sleeping and
leaping to Kagome’s waiting arms. Then he felt it, a deep desire to sleep. Then there he was
dreaming softly about his new parents, Kagome and Inu Yasha. It was a beautiful dream both of
them protecting him with their lives, both of them caring for him as if he was their own, and him
growing up beside their own pups. Kagome noticed his discomfort and moved a wing to provide him
some shade. From Shippo's viewpoint he could see both Kagome and Inu Yasha standing there
facing each other. He almost believed he was still dreaming, but the obvious atmosphere forced
away any doubts. Inu Yasha felt that she was once again reaching out to him in his mind, she was
calling him from her mind. He could do nothing but accept it and soon she was in his thoughts and
he in hers. Shippo jumped to Inu Yasha believing that if this wasn't dream then his dream must have
been some prediction of reality, he needed to be sure and whatever the consequence he would atleast
know. His guess was somewhat correct as Inu Yasha didn't knock him out of the air but caught him
and let him rest on his shoulder. There she was in Inu Yasha's mind, 'Inu Yasha you did that on your
own, you would be a good father.' Inu Yasha began to blush, this didn’t escape her notice. She
stroked the cheek she had hit not to long ago. The cool silky feel was comforting the stinging blow
from earlier. He reached up and took a hold of her hand into his. He sifted through her thoughts, her
desires, her dreams, her wishes, and her fantasies. With that many thoughts with him at the center, he
was certain it was love she had for him. 'Don't you see Inu Yasha, I love you completly with my
whole heart.' His doubts subsided, his dreams materialized, he broke down he dropped to his knees
and began to cry. ‘How selfish have I been? How many times have I hurt you?’ ‘Many times
InuYasha .’ Her eyes grew soft at his own acknowledgment. She too had been sifting his mind, she
found the source of his doubts the basis of his fears, it wasn't Kikyo that held his mind it was her, he
feared for her safety, he feared for her life, he loved her, and he couldn't continue life without her.
All those harsh words and actions, they were only to protect her, she hadn’t realized it until that
moment, she had always hoped, but was never quite sure. But now, she saw what it truly was that
held Inu Yasha back but those fears were now broken, she had reached out and had made him know
that she was as strong if not stronger than him, that she would fight by his side, and if they were to
fall they would fall together. She broke the link, its purpose fulfilled. Such a strong link being made
without her yet mastering her newly found skills took its toll on her, she began to sway and would
have dropped had not Inu Yasha caught her, he held her there close to him.
While still on his knees he reached out to her and kissed her strong yet passionate. They both
blushed almost forgetting about Shippo who at that moment decided to speak up. He would've
ruined the moment had his words been anything else, but his words rang true to his own desires, of
course with a little help from Kagome, "Does this mean I can call you Inu-papa now?" Kagome
started to laugh and Inu Yasha nearly doubled over, "No, not yet runt." Kagome's concern was
obvious in her eyes, he eased her thoughts though, "I haven't made her mine yet..." Anyone watching
would have seen a what would be a family of demons. Which was exactly what Miroku and Sango
saw after they had gotten up. With Inu Yasha and Kagome so deep in focus on each other they
wouldn't have noticed Miroku or Sango, that is until a certain monk couldn't keep a certain hand off
a certain demon slayer. The crack of the slap echoed through the silent forest, and at once their
presence was known, so they decided to emerge from the bushes they were hiding behind. "How
long have you been there?" Kagome said with with slight embarassment. "It doesn't matter, we
would have told them anyways," Inu Yasha said. "Kagome will be my mate."

I know my chapters are short, and I truly apologize. I tried to make this long as I possible could. But
I’m just not that talented of an author, lets face it I’m no Hemingway, where a single part of a story
could drag on for pages without having accomplished progressing the story line.

But I digress, thank you for helping me identify a fault in my writing, and hopefully as this story
progresses I can try to improve.
