Demon of the West

    The weeks went on and Kagome's wounds slowly healed. She even started to go on brief strolls through the garden. Although she never saw Sesshomaru she could feel his presence watching her, willing her to stay within her bounds of his castle.
    She had seen a lot of Jaken, the cranky old toad demon had nursed her through her injuries, despite miffing his pride by doing so. He seemed to be warming up to her a little bit, just this last week he had begun calling her by her name instead of ningen, miko, or Inuyasha's wench.
    Even with her daily life improving bit by bit it was still lonely. She missed her family on the other side of the well, and her friends back at the village. Inuyasha's rude remarks, Shippo's childish whining, Sango's friendly advise, and even if she didn't quite miss Miroku's wandering hands... she did miss watching Sango beat him to a pulp. Even Kiarra or Kaede would be some form of company in this solitude.
    What would Mama and Ji-chan think of her? Sixteen and pregnant... true, it was common in this time, but at home it was completely unacceptable. Hell, even in this time pregnant, and unwed was frowned upon.
    A depressed sigh escaped her lips, even if she could get beyond the castle walls she had no idea where she was, no weapons, not to mention Sesshomaru would be dragging her back within minutes for leaving with his "pup". Really how far would a lone pregnant human honestly get in the demon infested wilderness.
    Another sigh, the more she thought about it, the more depressing and hopeless it seemed to get. Placing her hand on her stomach she could already feel a small bump growing. Jaken had told her "youkai and hanyou pups spend less time in the womb the human pups. Human pups need to spend nine months in the womb before being born. Youkai pups spend only seven months within their mother, and hanyou pups spend around eight months in the womb."
    Pups, pups, pups!!! She was a human, having a baby, a child, or anything other than A PUP! Kagome was ready the strangle Jaken by the end of his informational speech. Was everything a pup to him? Didn't he see the difference? If youkai "pups" were created the same way the life growing within her was then, she definitely was having a baby, not a youkai "pup" that would grow into a youkai lord, and commit the the same crimes against another female. She would raise her baby to know better, raise it as a normal human mother would, with love and values.
    The idea of raising her baby seemed to calm her ruffled feelings from having her child referred to as a "pup." She even began to daydream about what gender it would be. She was hoping for a girl, not because she had a real preference, but just to spite Sesshomaru. Since a female could not be his much needed heir maybe, he would just let her take the baby and leave. Even if Kagome knew somewhere in the back of her mind it was just wishful thinking, and Sesshomaru would never let her take his child, female or not. It was still nice to dream.

    Inuyasha had finally abandoned the search for the missing miko. After weeks of searching the most he had found was a cave that reeked of her blood, and housed her torn dress. With the amount of blood in the cave, she had to have been severely weakened, if not dead. The stench of sex, and tears told him what had happened to his closest friend. The scent of the exact male had been masked, and with no real clues left behind.
    All he knew was the culprit was a demon, since no human could hide their scent. A strong demon either had Kagome, or had killed her after using her to rut. He assumed she was still alive since there was no body found within the cave. Though this wasn't absolute proof since many youkai will eat humans.
    The first demon he had gone after was Kouga. Kouga had a claim on Kagome which made him the prime suspect. However, the wolf was miles away having apparently patched things up with Ayame, and was expecting his own litter of pups in the spring. Inuyasha had explained their fight, and Kagome storming off alone only to disappear to the wolf. He decided against letting the information about the cave slip since he had already admitted his guilt in her disappearance, he felt the wolf didn't need to know of her fate in the cave. He asked Kouga, if he found her, to please bring her to Kaede's village because her friends are very worried about her. Kouga agreed, although he doubted she would be found unharmed, if at all, after all this time. He informed his scouts and wolves to keep their eyes and noses open for Kagome. Inuyasha thanked him, for once with sincerity, and resumed his search.
    That had been weeks ago and with no other leads to go on Inuyasha was forced to make the hardest decision of his life, and give up on Kagome ever being found. He hated to do it, but in this dangerous time it was not uncommon at all for humans to simply disappear without a trace, and like it or not there was nothing he could do about it.

    It had been about five months since her rape and kidnapping, Kagome was bored, and lonely. Sesshomaru had only made two appearances in all that time. Once to drag her back to the castle. After she finally decided chancing the forest was far better that going insane, and spending the rest of her life talking to herself in the third person.
    Oh, he had been pissed, a small smirk played on her lips as she remembered his seething. She hadn't gotten very far, in fact only a little ways past his second barrier before his angry form reached her location. She had been locked in her room upon their return to the castle and had remained their ever since, only allowed out once a day when a servant girl would talk her to bathe.
    The second time was now. The angry demon lord stood tall before her, his eyes tinged red around the edges, growling his demands in a low voice. "You will eat ningen!"
    Kagome turned her back to him, her head held high as she refused to answer, or even look at the furious demon in front of her. His inner demon screamed in outrage, no one ignored him, turning you back to the demon lord was the same as asking for death.
    Agitated growls rumbled from his chest as he tried to keep himself in check. His beast called for retribution, it demanded the bitch learn her place, and who the dominant male was. At the same time the more rational side of his mind knew she was with pup, and ningen. Therefore, he needed to control himself else he risk injuring his pup. Mentally counting backwards from ten he felt his tightened muscles start to relax before he addressing the infuriating women again. As calmly as possible his emotionless voice tried again "Why will you not eat?"
Kagome feeling the change in his demeanor turned around. Finally, acknowledging him, and giving an answer. "Because the meat is not cooked, and it will make me sick."
"The pup needs meat, blood will make him strong." Sesshomaru countered still not understanding how meat could make the ningen girl ill.
    Kagome let out an exagerated sigh. "I will eat the meat, but I need it cooked to kill the germs in it that can cause illness. My body is not immune to such things as yours is."
    Sesshomaru's mind began processing what she had told him. The last part about being immune he took as a compliment. However his mind was stuck on the first part, what exactly were "germs"? "What is this "germs" that you speak of?"
    Trying her hardest she supressed her giggle at his question, and reminding herself germs were not even discovered till after the mircoscope. She spuddered lost in thought for a couple of seconds, before spitting out a hopefully aceptable answer. "Ahhh... well... they are tiny living things found in some foods that can cause illness in ningens if there are not taken care of." Kagome's cheeks tinted red with a small blush at her ungraceful deliverly of her answer.
    Sesshomaru carfully thought this new information over before signaling to a servant. The servant came rushing over and was insructed to take to meat and have it turned into a stew. Giving one final glace to the miko he turned to walk away content in the knowledge she would now eat.
