Chapter 2: 8:30 AM
A fork slammed down on the intricately decorated porcelain plate of half eaten eggs and 3 large sausage links drowned in syrup with three thick slices of French toast that have yet to be consumed. Which is to be expected since the breakfast Aimaru ordered for the miko, without her consent, could choke a starving rhino. “Mr. Darsey can we please go now. It’s 8:30 already.” Kagome finally whimpered at the breakfast table across from Aimaru. It was a shame that she have to resort to whining like a baby to get the hard headed demon to cooperate. Not that it would do any good anyway. When he ignored Kagome, she sighed and fell back into her chair to stare blankly at her plate of uneaten food. She ate as much as humanely possible, she had no complaints because the food was excellent and was the best meal she had in ages. Anything would taste better than chips, choke sandwiches, and pop. In the future she will make a note to come back again for these ‘Big Boy Breakfast’ meals as they would call it. She always wonders why Americans complained about the meal sizes in her country, but now it obvious. The portions of food in America were freaking huge. Regardless of how much Kagome enjoyed the breakfast, her anxiety grew the more they kept the demon lord waiting. She could only imagine how pissed Sesshoumaru could be about a proposal he believes to be incomplete, but then imagining how pissed he’d be when he discovers that it was in fact finished and his worry was for nothing just downright scares her. How can his Aimaru toy with older brother like this? People like Lord Sesshoumaru you simply don’t fool around with. As long as she known the demon lord she could not recall one time he found anything funny; makes her wonder if he was at least capable of a chuckle, hell a smirk would do. But of course that seems to be something that would happened when pigs could finally fly. Aimaru finally regarded Kagome with a smile then took another bite of his vanilla and cinnamon iced crepes. His eyes rolled in the back of his head like he was getting the blowjob of a lifetime. Kagome rolled her eyes. “This is heaven. Precious you simply must try this.” He reached over with a forkful to place near her lips. Kagome reared back from the fork as if it was a lit torch. “No I want to go to TashioTech Towers and tell Sesshoumaru that the proposal is done so that I can keep my job for another day.” “Nonsense, he needs you too much to fire you. Now try it.” Aimaru insisted. “But…” “Precious, you haven’t had a decent meal all week and I refuse for my angel to walk about on the brink of starvation. Now eat before you lose that figure I love so much. You’re already a dainty little thing as it is. ” He insisted wagging the fork in her face. “Trust me, you’ll love it.” “No, it’s not sanitary.” Kagome said flatly crossing her arms in finality. Aimaru shared his saliva with far too many beings to simply share a utensil with him. She had nothing against the demon but she will only go so far with him socially and sharing utensils cross far beyond those borders. With an unconcerned shrug, Aimaru twisted in his chair to snap at a nearby waitress who practically tripped over her feet to heed his call. Kagome will admit that the demon was beyond beautiful and handsome with a show stopping grin, but not so much that she would make an ass out herself to please him. But then man hunting was never one of her hobbies so she wouldn’t know how she would act in that situation. “Another plate of these delicious crepes for my lovely here and feel free to be generous with the chocolate syrup.” The waitress nodded happily with a goofy grin on her face then sped off to do his bidding. Never have the miko seen anyone so eager. Makes the miko wonder which reward she was busting her ass for; a nice tip or a simple wink and smile from the lecherous demon. “Aimaru…” Kagome sobbed. “None of that precious.” Aimaru cut her off with the wag of his fork, “Anyway why are you stressing so much? Relax. You won’t lose your job. Trust me when I say that firing you will be the down fall of TashioTech as we all know it.” He finished coolly while taking another languid bite of his crepes. Kagome’s head dropped into her hand as she smiled sweetly. “You’re absolutely right; Mr. Tashio will never fire me or else he’ll lose the best damn worker he’ll ever get in his lifetime. Not forgetting to mention that it’s only fair that he pays me the salary you obviously don’t work for.” This was true by the way. The way Sesshoumaru had her working in that office was pretty much what the demon sitting across from her suppose to be doing. She doesn’t know why the demon lord doesn’t just go ahead and promote her already; if not in title, at least in salary. With an inquisitive scowl Aimaru gestures his fork at her as he spoke. “I could be wrong precious, but I detect a hint of sarcasm in those words.” He took another bite of his dessert while watching her suspiciously. “Naw, you’re just imagining things.”She waved a dismissive hand while watching a dessert identical to Aimaru’s being placed before her. Trying to not appear too eager to tear into it, she faked a sigh of nonchalance while picking up her fork. Much to her chagrin the damn thing was as good as it looked. So good in fact, that she will order one on the go. “You’re paying for all this by the way.” She said around a mouth full of crepe while signaling the waitress. Damn this was good. Kagome will admit that she appreciated Aimaru’s random tendencies when it comes to work, but only when she really needs that reprieve from work. Other times he would simply annoy the hell out of her, like an overly protective big brother that had to have her attention every moment of the day. Then there was his skirt chasing hobbies that interferes with his duties as Vice president that usually leaves her in charge of completing it. It was a wonder she could get her work done and still keep her job at TashioTech. But then, it’s also a wonder that TashioTech could even run at all, almost as if the success of the entire business was a fluke. Don’t get her wrong; when the demon set his mind to working, Aimaru can do an excellent job that exceeds even Sesshoumaru’s expectations. But that was only on when she would have to fake tears and show symptoms of a breakdown. The shit she had to put up with to keep this job. But then there’s always that six figure salary that seem worth it, especially when her love for Godiva chocolates could be fulfilled on a daily bases. That stuff is not cheap. I wonder if those specially order chocolates in the shape of male strippers came yet. I can’t wait to see the look on Sango’s face at her bachelorette party. She grinned knowingly to herself around a mouthful of crepes. Aimaru smirked at the rapturous look on her face oblivious to her daydream about naked chocolate men dancing on the table. “Told you, you’ll love it; and of course I was going to pay for all this. I live to see my precious little human smile.” Kagome rolled her eyes again. “Whatever, after I finish this, we definitely have to leave. I still have to pick up Mr. Tashio’s luggage to drop off at the air por…” Kagome paused to look up at Aimaru when he suddenly dropped his fork. “Aimaru?” she watched him cock his head inquisitively at her much like a curious puppy. “Pick up his luggage…from where?” he asked suddenly. Kagome watched him nervously, “His house…why?” she asked suspiciously. “You have the outer gate pass code, the spell to drop his demon safeguardand his front door key?” Aimaru asked quietly in a tight voice as both of his raven brows touched his hairline in apparent shock. He leaned forward crowding her space to intimidate the truth out of her. “Ye…n-no.” Kagome stuttered. What had she done? Sesshoumaru have practically threatened her dear life to never mention her errands concerning his house. She thought it was odd at the time but now she understood perfectly why. It was the perfect breeding ground for Aimaru to stir up trouble. It’s what he did best after all. Not a day goes by when the naughty little shit starter come barging into her office to hide under her desk to hide from the demon lord’s wrath after learning of his latest adventures; so he likes to call it. To the miko, starting shit is just that, starting shit. Calling them adventurers does not, by any means, make them sound less immoral. Since Kagome known Aimaru, he stayed in trouble, was trouble, and will forever be trouble. Now trouble was definitely going to darken her doorstep now that this scandalous demon knows she has access to Sesshoumaru’s isolated, billion dollar, heavily guarded home. A shiver ran down her spine. She would rather lose her job than face Lord Sesshoumaru’s tantrum. Aimaru narrowed his eyes at Kagome in suspicion. “It’s a good thing you life didn’t depend on your ability to lie precious. Why didn’t you tell me this sooner, I would have gladly accompanied you to his home to retrieve his things.” He said in a gentlemanly tone as he pushed his plate to the side and stood to shrug into his coat. Aimaru looked completely calmed and level headed but there was no missing the evil gleam of delight in his eyes. Already she could hear the workings of another shit starting masterpiece working in his head. “No, you are going to the office while I am going to Mr. Tashio’s place to get his things.” Kagome disputed as she too pushed her plate away. “But…” he started to protest with a pout. “No but’s!!” Kagome hissed while slamming her palms on the table unconcerned for the large audience she suddenly acquired. “But precious...” Aimaru started but backed up away from the table when the miko shot up from her chair to move around it right up in front of the surprised demon. Of course he knew she can’t really cause him no bodily harm, but the way she approaches you with her anger…scary if you asked him. Kagome growled while snatching the taller demon by his ear to pull him down to her level, which were quite a few levels down. “We are going to TashioTech Towers and you are going to deal with your brother’s tantrum while I go to his home to pick up his luggage. Then you and your brother will go to Las Vegas. And…” she twisted his pointed appendage in warning, “I better not find you tailing me to his home do I make… myself …clear?” “Crystal…” Aimaru croaked then straighten his body when she released his abused lobe. The miko suddenly smiled serenely while patting his cheek harshly then walked off towards the exit picking up her to-go order of crepes. “To think that I thought my mother was the scariest woman alive.” Aimaru sighed to himself while he signed the receipt for their breakfast. Sesshoumaru looked down at his watch as he stood in his window. 8:58 AM. In two minutes he had to make a conference call. If there was one thing the demon lord hated, it was tardiness. Where the devil were that miko and his idiot sibling? That woman had left at nearly seven. That was almost two hours ago. What was so difficult about collecting a simple minded halfwit and dragging him here to his office? It surely wasn’t rocket science. Though Sesshoumaru knew that if it was up to the miko she would have already had that imbecile at his desk working on the proposal while she completed her usual tasks like she have every day without fail. But of course since this was his brother she had to deal with, Aimaru no doubt would try to delay her as much as possible just to irk him out of spite. Since Lord Sesshoumaru has known the incompetent fool, which was practically since birth, trouble was all his sibling has given him. Every day without fail there was always something with his brother. If it wasn’t his work, it was his behavior, if it wasn’t his behavior, it was his finances, and if it wasn’t his finances…he most surely will find something to get in trouble with. And who would be there to clean it up? It wasn’t his mother, she would be much too busy to bother with such trivial matters, the demon lord thought sardonically to himself. It wasn’t even the idiot’s father who lives in the grandest of luxuries with his mother far away in England somewhere. No, it was Lord Sesshoumaru himself. Oh the irony. The demon lord eyed the rising sun coldly, threatening to freeze over the scalding star. He, the very being who hates the cretin’s very essence was the one who rescues him. Oh he rescues the fool…but afterwards…The demon grinned evilly to himself. Those were the only times in his life when he could find …enjoyment. One would suppose that Sesshoumaru could have gotten the idiot himself, but he didn’t. If he had, he would have killed the bastard and be done with it. Maybe then peace would once again fill his life. But for a demon such as himself with a brother such as Aimaru, peace was never a concept the demon lord understood. “If only the miko didn’t talk me out of your demise at that time little brother. But then today is a new day after all. ”Sesshoumaru murmured calmly while he scanned the streets for the perfect place to hurl his sibling for target practice. The more time that passed the, angrier he grew. Almost no one could tell from his outside appearance; which of course will be their misfortune. If you didn’t feel that deathly aura around you in his presence, you’re pretty much a dead man standing none the wiser. Sesshoumaru was anything but a patient man. A virtue he have lacked since birth; although recently, he have become more tolerant; not completely patient, but tolerant. He has become so ever since the hire of his secretary three months ago, Kagome Hiragashi. Lately demon lord noticed that he has let the miko’s opinion matter more than he has ever let anyone’s opinion matter. The employee’s of this company had no idea how much they owe the miko their very lives, literally. She has intervened on many occasions on other’s behalf saving many from layoffs, demotions, or to put it simply…death by his hands. Many of whom she didn’t even know. She did so as if he was getting rid of his employees on a random whim; when in fact most of them were very deserving of his divine punishment. What strikes the demon lord odd was that there was secretary before her who had spoke on a co-worker’s behalf to defend why he shouldn’t fire that person. Without a thought, Sesshoumaru fired them both on the spot. So why is it now that he’s allowing the miko to have such an influence on his work ethic? Her own work ethic was commendable, and even her resilience and moral. But surely it was not enough to be regarded so highly. Yes, the demon lord sees and acknowledges her hard work and loyalty, desirable traits in a worker. But then, those are very desirable traits in a mate too are they not? The demon lord scowled at his thoughts, not really knowing what to make of his last random observation. Kagome and Aimaru were exiting elevators at TashioTowers and were making their way down the hall when the air around them suddenly became thick and oppressive. “I see brother is excited to see me.” Aimaru commented cheerfully when cheerful was far from what he felt. He suddenly snapped his fingers as if something occurred to him. “Oh, can you believe it, I left my brief case back in the…” before he could finish, Kagome shoved his brief case into his arms. After a pause he started again, “I still need to get my…” in that instant she place a new pack of cigarettes and his lighter into his inner coat pocket then turned him about to continue urging him down the hall. Still he kept trying, “What about…” “I just called your secretary; she’s on her way to pick up your things from your home.” She raised her hand before he could argue, “And don’t bother, I know she has a key.” Kagome answered quickly with her hands planted firmly on Aimaru’s back pushing him towards his brother’s office; the air around them growing thicker with malice. “Precious, my life is at stake here and you have taken away every possible means of escape from me.” He whined pitifully. With a hard shove he allowed to push him forward, Kagome smiled brightly, “Better you than me. If it makes you feel any better, I will pray that the Kami bless you with a swift painless death.” She said cheerfully. Aimaru gawked in horror at her words, “I thought you loved me.” “I do, because if I didn’t I would have wished for your death to be slow and painful with a swift trip to the deepest pits of hell.” She winked then opened the door and shoved him again into the office then closed the door behind him. With a giggle Kagome took out her keys and made her way back to the elevator to head back out to pick up Sesshoumaru’s luggage. Aimaru cocked his head curiously at his brother’s form standing stone still in the large window. He wasn’t sure what to make of the motionless demon lord who has yet to mince him where he stood but he wasn’t going to complain. Not as long as he still breathe. Unfortunately there was no ignoring the thick, suffocating deathly aura his brother was emitting at high levels. If his brother didn’t kill him by his own hands, his aura surely will. “You try me, Aimaru. I fail to see for what purpose you have done such. Is life so unappealing to you that you risk raising my ire? Or could it be that you are genuinely a fool?” Sesshoumaru’s voice was calm as he continued to gaze out his window. Aimaru shrugged his shoulders. He didn’t know the answer to that himself. The need to annoy his older sibling brought the worst in him. What was there to say beside the fact that he genuinely enjoys making his brother miserable? Not much without pissing the already seething demon lord off. The demon lord finally granted the other demon a golden glare. He took a moment to take in his brother’s annoyingly relaxed form leaning casually against his door. “The proposal has yet to be completed and in my hands to look over when you were instructed to take care of it a month ago. You will tell me why.” Aimaru watched his brother look at his watch in distaste. No doubt livid that he will be late making his conference call when it was now reaching 9:15 AM. Aimaru answered his brother with a shrug, “Would you believe that I simply forgot? I had a lot to do as well and barely had enough time in my ‘oh so busy’ schedule to do as you ask. I eventually thought that you were going to have the miko do it.” He had to fight a smirk that threatened to appear on his handsome face when the demon lord growled low in his throat. Red flashed in the demon lord’s eye for a split second before returning to their true golden color. “She isn’t your secretary to throw your work on when you so choose it little brother. You have a secretary.” Aimaru stood up from the door behind him as he spoke, “Oh but brother, the miko does such a wonderful job. She’s so much more competent than my secretary and you know it. Perhaps I can convince you to part with her hmmm?” Aimaru grinned openly when the demon lord narrowed his eyes in warning. “I can always offer her a higher salary and fantastic benefits. The question is… would you let her leave?” he finished then raised a taunting brow. “I tire of your games. Leave and finish the proposal.” Sesshoumaru bit out gruffly. “After you give me a simple yes or a no.” the other demon insisted. “Aimaru…” the demon lord warned. “Answer the question. We can go back and forth like this all day brother. You have a call to make or had a call to make at 9:00 AM. It’s 9:21 now; do you really wish to keep those people waiting like this? I mean you still have to meet with you subordinates at 9:30 as well.” It was obvious the demon lord was fighting tooth and nail to stay calmly rooted to his chair and not jump up to relieve his brother’s shoulders of his head. Eventually the demon lord sighed, “No, I will not allow her to leave. But only because she is a highly competent worker nothing more.” “I don’t know brother; I’d say you fancy that little human far more than you let on.” He taunted slyly. Without warning Sesshoumaru lashed out across his office with his youkai whip down where his brother once stood. The demon lord looked up to watch his brother place a brief case on his desk beside him as if an attempt on his life was never made. The other demon watched the expensive carpet sizzle and melt. “That’s surely going to leave a stain. Anyway I thought you may want to have this.” Aimaru said as he left his brother to stare disdainfully at the leather case. With a snarl Sesshoumaru shoved the offensive thing off his desk and placed his conference call. He refuses to play into anymore of his brother’s games. Everything about that brief case smelled of trickery. Outside of the office, Aimaru smiled openly at the sound of the briefcase hitting the floor in a loud thud. He nodded acknowledgements to the janitor while entering the elevator whistling a happy tune to himself. Kagome was pulling up to the front gates in her car and had to remember to breathe. No matter how many times she comes here, the magnificence of the place still takes her breath away. It looked like a futuristic palace and had large marble sculpture of an Inu Demon in a fountain in the middle of the circular driveway. White rose bushes lined his gates and pavement towards the front door of his home. Then there were the large expanse of open field stretched far beyond the back of his home. It was obvious the demon lord spared no expense when it came to his home. This had to be her third visit her to take care of something for Sesshoumaru and it all still felt like a whole new experience. She reaches out of her car to punch in the numbers to open the front gates that loomed high above her head. Black ominous welded vines and ornate details decorated the tall metal gate warding off anyone who so much looks upon this place. The gates opened with a loud audible click and silently slid open allowing her entry. Kagome paused to look over her shoulder for any sign that a certain lecherous demon had followed her. Content, she finally closed her eyes and chanted an ancient word in Inu Demon tongue then waited. Not long after she said the words of release did she feel the air around her hum then sizzle signaling that it was dropping the ward around the estate. When the sizzling in the air stopped and no longer felt tainted with demon magic, she drove in up to the front door. She was walking through the front door and into the corridor when she heard a whistle of approval echo through the mansion. Confused she whirled around to watch Aimaru stroll casually into the demon lord’s home grinning wickedly. Sesshoumaru stopped his brother with a raise of his hand then turned menacing eyes toward the miko beside him who suddenly found the design in the comforter interesting. “You let him in my home.” Kagome squeaked while backing away from him. “You made it sound as if I welcomed him in. You know very well that if your brother wanted to get in there he could with or without my help.” She argued. “Ah, but he seemed to have waited for YOUR help when he was incapable to do so before.”Sesshoumaru countered calmly. With a growl Kagome leaned toward the demon lord narrowing her blue eyes, “You heard your brother, he said he tailed me and entered with me WITHOUT my consent or knowledge. He has the stealth of a freaking ninja. I’m human for Kami’s sake!” “A human with miko powers. Powers, by the way, that could’ve aided in sensing his presence around you if you had bothered to use them.” “Oh whatever.” Kagome huffed then turned away from the demon lord with her arms crossed tightly to keep from choking him. “Go on Aimaru.” She hissed. “I do believe that was your first lover’s quarrel.” Aimaru said with a cock of his head. Both Sesshoumaru and Kagome threw a look of murder toward the demon who in turned stiffen nervously. “Okay…where was I?”While AFF and its agents attempt to remove all illegal works from the site as quickly and thoroughly as possible, there is always the possibility that some submissions may be overlooked or dismissed in error.
