The sun was high giving good reason to stay in the shade. Kagome was thankful to have such a cozy home and was proud of its spacious design. After the return from her own time the couple went to work across the country side in exterminating harmful youkai and helping those in need. With her miko powers and Inuyashas natural ability to easily defeat any nemesis they encountered, their talents gained them a good living. The young priestess had decided on the location of their home long before Inuyasha even proposed marriage. Taking her eyes up to the giant limbs of the Goshinboku whose leaves were lush and green, perfect for keeping the heated sun at bay she couldn’t help but smile. The old Shinto shrine where she grew up was destined to start here with her family as its first generation.
"How about a cookout? Since we’re all here. I’ll bet Sango will like the sound of that.”
The hanyou lay casually on his side, head propped up with one hand while the other teased his infant daughter with a ball on the grassy ground. Amber eyes darted to where she stood eyeing the bark of the tree he’d been stuck to for 50 years. He’d refused the idea of living so close to the cursed Goshinboku at first but was easily convinced after Kagome’s reasoning when he finally confessed his love.
“This is where my family comes from. This is where I found you Inuyasha...”
“Are you listening?”
Closing his eyes the hanyou furrowed his brow while responding.
“We’ve got that boar that’s still fresh. But with Sango eating we’re gonna need two. Just for her.”
Never mind the rest of the family. The houshi had decided that for each year they were together, he would try his best in making sure another baby became a new edition to their already rapidly growing clan. In Inuyasha’s opinion Miroku and Sango would single handedly bring back the demon slayers village by the time they both kicked the bucket and died. Keeping that to himself however his nose twitched when sensing Kagome coming closer. Cracking one eye open he watched the young woman sit beside him. At 22 she held the image of a grown woman, a few inches taller than when she‘d come back and had become far more curvy thanks to childbirth.
“Then I guess you’d better go get more.”
Kagome absently ran her fingers through the soft silvery locks of his hair while she ordered him openly. He kept a frowned expression yet sighed in relaxation. Her touches to this day gave the hanyou a sense of calm he’d never felt by anyone.
“Well watta you gonna do fer me?”
It was Inuyasha who smiled then. The young woman blinked stupidly and gave a puzzled expression while twirling strands of his silver hair.
“Well...There are a few things.”
Shifting to lay on his back he let the little ball go. Aimi was hot on its trail as it rolled toward a few butterfly bushes. With a strong hand he grabbed Kagome’s arm and pulled her across his chest leaving only a few inches between each of their noses. He took her by surprise at the sudden change of position. Kagome had become more open with showing physical affection but still couldn’t help the reddening of her cheeks. Smiling shyly her blue eyes wavered with lust. Closing the gap between them she pressed a soft kiss to the hanyou’s expectant lips. The spring air and flowers around them paled in comparison to her arousal. Inuyasha had figured out that getting Kagome hot and bothered didn’t take much. More often then not when he initiated physical contact she was the one who took full advantage. Inuyasha’s body stiffened when the miko gave a soft sigh and dug her nails into the fabric of his robe. Running his large, clawed hands down her sides his breathing became heavier as their kiss deepened. She soon felt him reach her butt, instinctively lifting his hips while firmly pushing down. The wonderful sensation broke their kiss leaving Kagome’s labored breathing warm and jagged against his neck. Grunting, the hanyous eyes snapped shut when he felt her hips grind against his own.
Neither of them noticed the sound of gravel as footsteps came closer on the trail right behind them. Breaking from her lusty daze when she felt her husband freeze, Kagome didn’t have time to push herself up from his chest to not be caught in the act. Knowing they’d been spotted by an audible gasp the priestess shot to her knees and fell back on her butt while turning to see who it was.
“Oh-don’t stop on my account.”
Miroku stood there with a charming smile, his prayer beads lifted in blessing.
“Nothing will grow, if the seed is not sown. Let me assure you, Buddha smiles on your uni-”
He was cut off by Inuyasha’s blow to the side of his head and Kagome’s scream.
“BAKA! You pervert! Watta you want!?”
Snarling this Inuyasha was just as embarrassed, his face as red as the clothes he wore. The monk rubbed his sore head and laughed light heartedly.
“Forgive me, I forgot what I came for.”
Kagome’s scowl was that of frustration. Why was it that anytime they let their guard down Miroku always seemed to conveniently show up? It had to be that lecherous sixth sense he had, that was the only explanation.
“Ah! Yes, I came to ask if you’d accompany me Inuyasha. I’ve left the fishing net out overnight at the lake and since we have visitors I thought we could have a bit of a get together.”
“Feh! A get together to you is a feast for the whole damn village Miroku.”
The houshi grinned in delight. That’s what he was hoping for at the very least. Music, food, pretty girls, dancing and sake was sure to be had if the village pitched in and Miroku was never one to ignore the generosity of others or pass up a good time. It was summer after all so why not enjoy the opportunity? Some things never change. Kagome gave a sigh and shot her gaze across the yard to find Aimi sound asleep under the shade of a sakura tree.
“Go on Inuyasha.”
Kagome rubbed her palm against the hanyous lower back, gaining a 'keh’ of acceptance.
“C’mon then, I ain’t waitin’ all day ta eat.”
Watching them go Kagome was reminded of how incredibly rare it was to have a moment of peace when Aimi started crying. Slouching the priestess gave a huff of disappointment before going to her daughter.

“It is only natural to feel that way.”
Kaede pulled another herb from her garden, speaking with wisdom to the girl who had come to visit.
“I don’t mean to and I don’t know why...”
The old woman stopped to stare at Rin a moment before dusting the dirt from the plants roots.
“Becoming a woman is no easy task. It requires patience, will, strength and love. Your body and mind are changing. With these changes it is only natural to have frustration be apart of how you feel. The real trouble is managing it.”
Rin sat in silence with a worried expression on her face. Did that mean she would lash out at her lord again? That was the last thing she wanted to do. Since their last confrontation the teenager could only fear the worst.
“He’ll leave me here again.”
Sadly Rin said this and felt her eyes tearing. This village had been her home for six years before Sesshomaru let her follow him again. The freedom of roaming open prairies and vast mountains along side him was something she held close to her heart. It was him after all who had given her the chance at life again, so to Rin truly living meant being free...free to stay with him. Nothing beat the sparkling stars and a camp fire at night, or the squawking of Jaken’s stories about Sesshomaru’s legendary adventures. Most of all she loved just being in his presence. Having no fear of demons or humans since her lord Sesshomaru was by her side. That security enabled Rin to truly be herself, that carefree, happy spirit that held nothing but love for those around her.
However now and most recently her attitude and feelings seemed to flair up uncontrollably. Most of the time it was for silly things, like getting angry at Jaken for talking too much (which she had no room to criticize) or crying without reason just to cry because she felt sad. There were times her emotions caused more serious trouble like deliberately disobeying orders to stay in one place to wait for Sesshomaru’s return. She preferred meeting him half way rather than twiddling her thumbs in hopes he would come back sooner rather than later. It had been just that that had caused an argument between them only a few nights before.
“Rin. Do as I say.”
It wasn’t like it had been before. In some ways she wondered if being in this village had spoiled her in some way but that wasn’t the case at all. Hai’s were being replaced by why’s. She couldn’t understand what was happening to her mind and body. Sighing then she wiped the tears that had made their way down her cheek.
“I’m no child anymore, stop acting like I am!”
Although she’d gotten her way in coming here, Rin suspected that whatever Kaede or anyone else had to say just wouldn’t help her situation.
“You will find your way, Rin. Patience, give yourself time.”
She couldn’t understand that.
Lifting her eyes to pan across the rice paddy fields she furrowed her brow when only seeing AuUn grazing on the outskirts. Since her arrival she hadn’t seen much of her lord and although he’d tried reassuring her he wasn’t upset, Rin couldn’t help but worry. Kaede stopped picking, her attention turning to the hill beside them. Blinking in wonder at what the old woman sensed, Rin opened her mouth to ask when a loud growl of a cat could be heard above them. Nearly jumping out of her skin the teenager squealed in fright. The cat landed and transformed after letting her rider down. With multiple mews Kirara hopped over to Rin’s lap. Sighing in relief the young woman shifted her attention from the animal to the demon slayer, greeting him and being unable to hide her admiration.
