Feeling the warm sun fall on her face Kagome slowly opened her eyes. At first she didn’t register the body that was behind her. But then her eyes went wide as tears spilled from them again. The aching pain between her legs. The hard body pressed up against her from behind. The arm wrapped around her waist. Flashes of Inuyasha’s dead body, Sesshomaru’s rough hands, the pain when he entered her and took her by force. She started to shake as her eyes shut. Her body tense.

“Don’t tense. Nothing else happened last night nor will it happen now.”

“Like I am going to take your word for it. You raped me last night.”

With an annoyed growl Sesshomaru flipped her around on her back and glared into her eyes as his nose touched hers. “Your fate is to be my mate. If you stop fighting it and accept it then the next time won’t be as painful.”

Her eyes flashing Kagome glared back. “Like you care if it is painful for me or not! If you truly cared if it was painful for me you would have never done it in the first place!”

‘Dominate!’

With a growl Sesshomaru closed his eyes and ground his teeth. ‘Back off. I can handle this part.’

‘Show her you are her master!’

‘Back off!’

When he felt the urge to make her submissive die he opened his eyes that were two points of molten lava. “Fighting me would be a bad thing for you to do.”

“Why?”

Moving off of her and sitting on the side of the bed he sighed. “In the world of dog demons, once there is a mating the female is submissive. Anything the male wants is given without question. Just now when you raised your voice and challenged me my demon was trying to come out to make you submit. You are to weak to withstand that.”

Blankets fully wrapped around her still naked body Kagome let tears fall. “Don’t underestimate me Sesshomaru.”

“I am not. A miko has more strength than a normal human. But when faced with the most primal of demons, your body would not withstand what would happen to you.”

Turning wide eyes to him she glared. “Another rape?”

Closing his eyes he sighed. “Beating. And I would not be able to take control to lessen the blows or stop them if he took me over like he tried. This your fate. Accept it.”

Looking down at the floor she choked back a sob. “So you are telling me to just accept the fact that I have to stay with a man that doesn’t love me, is incapable of loving me, has raped me, and has a totally different personality that could kill me?”

“There are things that can be done to keep him at bay.”

“Like what?”

Standing and going to the window he sighed. “Once a week, we will copulate. If I am not fighting him while doing it, then I can be much more gentle with you so as not to cause you as much pain. When you are around me, you will be yourself to a point. No fighting with me on anything. You will have time during the day that will be just for you.”

With a sigh Kagome’s shoulder’s slumped. “So this would be like an arranged marriage.”

“Arranged marriage?”

Nodding she hugged the blankets around her tighter. “In the human world people are forced to marry and stay with people they may not like. Sometimes people they may not even have seen until their wedding day. They forced into it and forced to play the good wife. No matter what. That includes sex and everything else. No matter how much they may hate the idea of it they do it.”

“Then yes. That is exactly how you could look at it.”

Falling sideways on the bed fresh tears spilled from her eyes. “Fine. I can agree to those terms. But I do ask one thing right now.”

“What?”

“Give me more than a week before the next time. Wait until the pain is gone.”

Concern filling his eyes he walked around to the side of the bed she lay with her eyes shut. “I can do that.” He reached out, not pulling back when she flinched and let the back of a finger gently slide down her face. “I really did not mean to hurt you as badly as I did last night.”

“Alright.”

Turning he headed for the door. “I will have a maid bring you something to eat.”

“Why were you in here again last night if not to try something else?”

“The smell of your tears as you cried yourself to sleep. They were unsettling. I came in to check on you, but the sight of your tears drove me to try to comfort you.”

“Then why? Why did you?”

“The first coupling is to make it official that a mate has been chosen. Even while you cried during I tried to regain full control to stop. The next time, it will be who I am now. Not him. I will make it as less painful for you as I can. Try to make you enjoy it as well.”

“Okay.”

As the day went by Kagome slowly started to move around the room. There were no clothes in the closet except for a robe which she now wore. ‘This is probably not going to be my permanent room. I bet he moves me into his room.’

“My Lady?”

“Come in.” Kagome was greeted by a young demoness with a bright smile. “Please you don’t have to call me My Lady. Just Kagome.”

The girl sat a tray of food down on the table and then shook her head no. “My name is Kara My Lady. You are the mate to the Western Lord which makes you the Western Lady. I will address you with the respect that your position demands. Lord Sesshomaru has instructed me to bring you food and see if there is anything else that you need.”

“Some clothes would be nice.”

“I will bring you in a kimono right away.”

“NO!” Kagome held her hand out. “No kimono. I would actually prefer hakama and haori please.”

“You are the Western Lady, you wish to wear hakama like a male?”

Kagome couldn’t help but smile at the perplexed look that she gave her. “I am more comfortable in them. If you would please?”

“If that is your wish My Lady, then I will do as you please.”

Once she was gone Kagome went over to the table and sat down slowly. That same dull ache was back between her legs. Before she reached out to start eating, she thought about what has happened since she purified the jewel. When she came back, she was told that Koga mated with Ayame, Hojo married another girl named Kagome, Sango and Miroku were together, and she was going to marry a then human Inuyasha.

But with Inuyasha, Sango and Miroku gone, even Kirara she has nothing to run to if she were to escape out of here. But when the maid said that she was Lady of the West she hadn’t thought of that before now. She had a position of power. Looking down at her stomach she laid her hands on it. She wanted to die, but at the same time knew she couldn’t go through with killing herself, and the thought of a violent death at the hands of Sesshomaru didn’t please her either. ‘So the least I can do is make the best out of it until I die. And convince Sesshomaru of what he needs to do with however many kids I have to make sure that they don’t die.’

“My Lady?”

“Come in.”

Kara walked back in with a pair of hakama and haori. “I know you said just simple, but Lord Sesshomaru would have my head if his mate looked any less then like a true Lady of the West. So while you will have the feel of pants, I have a wrap with them that will look like you have a kimono on for the rest of the us to see. And is embellished. I hope you are not upset with me?”

Smiling as she stood up, a slight wince at the pain again Kagome smiled. “No. Please wait just outside the door while I dress then I am going to have you take me to Sesshomaru.”

“Yes My Lady.”

Once the door was shut Kagome shed the robe and quickly dressed in the hakama and haori. She was pleased that they fit her just like the ones she used to wear at home when she was little. Slipping the wrap on and then securing the sash she looked down with a smile. Then she quickly ran her fingers through her hair. She had to play the part of a dutiful faithful Lady of the West to Sesshomaru, regardless of if she wanted to or not. But she was going to end up giving him children and knew she had to do all she could to make sure that they would not die because of what they were going to be.

She went over to the table and gobbled down some of the rice and then a few bites of the fish then washed it down with some tea. Heading for the door she sighed. ‘I bet this is a shock for him.’ Opening the door she found Kara there waiting. “Where is he anyway?”

“He is in his study My Lady. This way.”

Following the girl she heard footsteps behind her and arched her eyebrow at the guard that was following them. “I take it you are my guard for when I leave my room?”

“Hai My Lady.”

“What is your name?”

“Ichijo.”

Nodding Kagome followed Kara as she looked around at the palace. It was a beautiful place and under different circumstances she knew that she would have loved living in a place like this. She was going to make the best out it though.

“Right here he is My Lady.”

“Thank you Kara.” Kagome then walked into his study to find him already walking across the floor toward the door. “We need to talk.”

“About what?”

Walking past him Kagome fell on one of the cushions that he had before his desk, he himself going to sit behind it. “I thought about taking my own life last night. Thought about it again after you left my room this morning. I thought about starving myself, but I knew you would just force it down my throat. I thought about slitting my wrists, but that wouldn’t have done any good because of Tensaiga. And I doubt I could have gone through with it anyway.”

“Okay.”

“I have no one to turn to once I leave here. If I were to escape that is. No one that would try to help protect me. I understand now that you are everything I have whether I like it or not.”

“Correct.”

“But I have some terms and conditions that I want to be done as well.”

“Really? Like what?”

“For one, if I am your mate that makes me Lady of the West right?”

“Hai.”

“And no doubt at some time I will have to take over duties as Lady of the West right?”

“Hai. I was going to have you take them over once you realized your fate was sealed.”

“Yeah I done did that. I will not promise that I won’t fight with you. I will not lose who I am. But I will resign to this fate.” Her voice moving down to a whisper she let a few tears fall. “I am not as strong as you or your demon think I am. But I know who I am and I won’t lose it. But even if I did leave, I might not be able to erase your memory from my mind after last night.”

“I am s………………”

“Not because of that. When you reached your end, you were inside of me. There is a fifty chance that I may have gotten pregnant last night.”

His eyes wide he hadn’t thought about that last night. But she did smell as though she was in heat at some point yesterday when he took her from his brother. “True.”

“I know how history goes from here on out Sesshomaru.”

“History is the past. Not the future.”

“I am from the future. My clothes that I had on yesterday. The things that I did for my friends, for Rin.” Then she blinked as she looked around. “Wait where is Rin?”

“She was sent to stay with my mother while I claimed you. She was to stay there until you were either forced to submit or accepted it.”

“You can bring her back. I won’t fight you in front of her. She doesn’t need to know anything about anything. To her it will look like we both chose this, you want.”

“That would be pleasing.”

“Anyway I was pulled through the well three years ago because of the Sacred Jewel. Since then, until I turned Inuyasha human the jewel had allowed me to go from this time to my time. But since it was purified by removing his demon blood, it doesn’t exist anymore and I can’t go home.”

“That explains a lot actually.”

“Hai. I know that there will be at least one child born between us before I die. I need you to believe me and listen to me.”

Standing he walked around and pulled her to her feet only to cup her cheek in his face. “Believing you is not the question. I do, for some strange reason. But what do you need me to listen too?”

Her eyes filling with tears she didn’t move. “I don’t want to be here. I don’t want to be with you but I will have to be for the rest of my life. I want a promise from you, not your demon. From you. That you won’t let my kids forget about me. And you will hide them.”

“Hide them?”

“Sesshomaru in my time there are no demons. They are all gone. They don’t exist anymore. Until being pulled through the well by one I thought that all demons were myths. Legends. Cause they were not in my time. If I am going to accept this and move on with life, you have to promise me that.”

Though the fact that she said she came from a different time did not shock him the fact that she was asking something of him did. The pleading in her eyes was clear. He could sense her hate toward him still. He knew she hated him and that the thought of him touching her made her repulsive. But she was willing to accept it. “I promise.”

“Thank you. I will go back to my room now.”

“Mine.”

Turning to look at him with blinking eyes. “Huh?”

Showing her to the door he looked down at Kara. “She is to be shown to OUR room.”

“Yes My Lord.”

Kagome nodded as she followed her to the room that she would share with a man she detested for the rest of her life. ‘I guess we will find out if he can leave me alone until the pain is gone tonight.’
