The first thing Sango did after she kicked the silver haired man out, was drive to the nearest pharmacy. The assistant behind the counter took Sango’s order but not without giving her a badly concealed evil eye. Sango glowered at her and snatched the bag out of her hands.
“Judgmental bitch” Sango whispered under her breath, loud enough for the assistant to hear. The woman glared at her but did not offer a reply. Sango took a deep breath as she entered her Toyota Camry. The reality of the situation she had placed herself in had begun to weigh down on her the minute the silver haired man was out the door. She was engaged and had an engagement party coming up in two days! How was she supposed to tell her fiancé that she woke up with a naked stranger? Granted she didn’t even know if the two of them had done anything but with both of them naked and cuddling it was pretty obvious what had happened. Miroku would be furious. It had taken them a long time to get to the place they were know. She had known Miroku since middle school and from then until high school Miroku had pursued her. It wasn’t until he returned to L.A after college that she agreed to go on a date with him. The simple reason why: Miroku was a womanizer. He came from a long line of womanizers. His father and his father’s father were both womanizers. Miroku blamed it on an old family curse but Sango was betting on genetics. His nature made it nearly impossible to take his proclamations of undying affection seriously. When they had reached high school it was the worst. Miroku had asked her to homecoming their sophomore year and begrudgingly she accepted. Only to find him the night of dance in a storage closet where he had a freshmen on her knees. It took Sango a long time to forgive him. After they graduated high school she didn’t see him until he returned to L.A after getting his degree at ASU. At the time she still had a month of school left at USC but her parents had decided to throw her an early graduation party. They invited Miroku and his family as the two families were close friends. Miroku had returned nearly a completely different person. Which was a surprise to Sango given his choice of school. He had always been a great conversationalist but before college had used that gift to manipulate woman’s feelings and talk them into spreading their legs. Something he was very successful at. However when he returned he actually cared about what exited a woman’s mouth even if it didn’t involve some details about them sleeping with him. He was charming and kind. A newly made gentleman. The transformation had surprised and delighted Sango and Miroku had slowly wormed his way into Sango’s heart. Keyword ‘slowly’. She initially resisted his advances and in the beginning shot him down almost weekly but Miroku had been persistent. Before Sango could even realize, she had fallen for him. For two years they had dated and it was like paradise. Then Miroku had what he described as a slip up and slept with another woman on a business trip to Japan. The next day he had called Sango and told her. He pleaded for her forgiveness but Sango wouldn’t hear it. They were apart for three months. In those three months Sango had tried everything to forget Miroku: traveling, dating and clubbing every weekend with her best friend Kagome. Despite all of her attempts she wasn’t able to erase Miroku from her memory nor could she ignore how miserable she was without him. Miroku tunneled somewhere deep into her heart and despite his infidelity he was the one Sango envisioned spending the rest of her life with. That is why, what she may have done last night weighed heavily in her heart. When Miroku cheated he had called her the next day filled with guilt and Sango had instantly shot him down. The betrayal overwhelming her. However whenever she picked up her phone to make a call and confess her sins she became paralyzed. A complex of emotions stilled her hands and flooded her mind with doubts. She had tried three times today to make the call. One right after she kicked the man out of her apartment, another as she was coming towards the pharmacy and the last right now. Her fingers hovered over the touchscreen display where Miroku’s calling card was displayed. This was the closest she had gotten to making the call. The previous times her fingers were too numb to enter the passcode to her phone. A battle raged inside of her. Part of her screamed at herself to call Miroku but the majority of her feared the uncertainty of the outcome. Her phone decided for her and Miroku’s name popped up on the screen dominating the display Sango blinked at stared at the phone in disbelief. It took her a second to realize that Miroku was the one calling and divine intervention or a technological mishap hadn’t occurred. She took a deep breath and clicked the green answer button. “Hello?” She asked. Her tone was uncertain and her voice was quiet. Almost meek. Miroku’s voice projected through the speakers in her car. “Hey babe, how are you?” He was cheerful. “I’m fine just on my way to the gym.” Only half of that statement was a lie. Today was Tuesday and Sango didn’t have to go in to work until the late afternoon. She normally used the extra time to work out. “Nice, keeping that ass of yours in shape!” Sango couldn’t help but laugh. Miroku always knew how to cheer her up even if he didn’t know that she needed cheering up in the first place. “Yeah I guess so” Sango said. “Wish I could be there to help” Miroku said suggestively. “I have some good news and some bad news. Which do you want first?” “Bad news” Sango said without hesitation. “Well bad news is that they want to keep me here for another week. Something about an emergency system crash has them up in arms and they need me until next Wednesday maybe Thursday. I’m sorry but we are going to have to postpone the engagement party.” Normally Sango would have been angry. The only person she knew who was busier than her was Miroku. He worked with software and information systems and his career required him to travel a lot. Often times the demands of his clients required the two of them to alter their plans considerably. Miroku had promised her though that their engagement party’s date was set in stone. The circumstances had changed though and Sango merely voiced an agreeable “Ok.” “What, just ok? You’re not mad at me? I tried telling them I have a ninja warrior of a girlfriend back home who would kill me if I wasn’t on the next flight back.” Sango smiled. “No I’m not mad at you, you exaggerator. Things happen and plans have to change. I understand how important your clients are.” “Wow. Are you sure this is Sango? The woman I know and love should be trying to drop kick me through the phone” Miroku joked. “Yes this Sango, goof. And a true ninja warrior knows when to pick her fights. This is not one of them.” “Whatever you say Sensei. Well I promise I’ll make it up to you when I get back” his tone made it obvious that he meant to pay her back by the way of sexual favors. “I’m sure you will” Sango said dryly. “Okay good news is they are paying me double for the extra days I stay here.” “That’s a plus.” “Yeah a big one!” Miroku exclaimed. “Oh and Sango? Do you remember my friend Inuyasha I was telling you about?” “Yeah your buddy from ASU?” “Yeah he’s in Los Angeles now. Flew in last night and guess what!” “What?” Sango played along. “He landed a job at your firm. His first day is today so you might run into him when you go in later.” “Really? That’s cool. Do you know what department he’s in?” “No. I don’t. He isn’t a lawyer so he might be in your department.” “Maybe, it’s a pretty big company though so I might not see him at all.” Sango worked for a firm that managed the lives and troubles of Los Angeles’ richest and most powerful. Movie stars to politicians were represented by the firm. Sango was analyst not a lawyer, the common misperception was the company only hired lawyers. The company had hundreds of employees all housed in the main office building so there was a very good chance Sango might not run into Inuyasha especially if they belonged to different departments. “Well we’ll find out when finally have our engagement party. He’s going to be there as well. Alright well I have to go. These Italians are acting like a fire is going on. I’ll see you later.” “Miroku” Sango called out before he hung up. “Yeah?” he asked. “I love you.” “Love you too babe.”While AFF and its agents attempt to remove all illegal works from the site as quickly and thoroughly as possible, there is always the possibility that some submissions may be overlooked or dismissed in error.
