Mika was in her own palace, waiting on Toga Taisho. SHe had long platinum blonde hair and elven ears like all humanoid youkai did. A ‘pretty’ kimono was on her body, and on the back of it was a hole that held one single fox tail. Mika however, was one of the most powerful kitsune’s ever to be born. Only one every lifetime was born, and always passed down through her family, the royal family. She, was the Kyuubi. A nine tailed fox demoness, whose power of illusion were not just illusions. They did not fade and they were powerful, more so than any other Kitsunes. Or they would have been, if she cared to train more with them. Mika was much more fond of sword play.
Having come from the central lands, it hadn’t taken Toga long to touch down in the Southern lands close to the palace. He was just about on time as he said he would be, having traveled in his true form to make up a bit of it. He didn’t always like going in his true form to other lands, particularly to avoid annoying fur catchers, the less of a blood trail the better he would consider his journey had gone. He really didn’t even need to have anyone introduce him, surely they could tell he had arrived as he headed to the front doors of the palace.
The girl looked at him, she was only 10 years old. “...you are the person who’s come to take me away.” she said. “I don’t really want to go. You know that don’t you?” she asked, oh she was bold. She was a princess, and a powerful one at that, much more so than his puppy.
He glanced down at the little princess, it wasn’t hard to feel that she was a powerful young lady. “And why not?” he asked her. “They have informed me there is nothing much else they can do for you here” he said, he would rather be real wit her, though she was still young then to simply lie.
Mika scowled. "The only reason that they want me to leave is because they can’t handle me.” she said. “I would be just fine going out on my own. I don’t want to go with you.” she said gently. “If you take me, it’s likely I will make your life hell, like I do everyone else's.” she said.
Toga ignored her scowling, such a grumpy kit! Actually, it was kind of amusing but now wasn’t the time to laugh. “I guess I’m just going to have to endure, but I had an idea…” he said. “One I think you may like, but either way, we’re going” he said. He didn’t come all the way there to let a little girl bully him. If he had to, he’d pick her up and carry her all the way home.
Oh?" she asked him. There was a sparkle in her eye. “You don’t even know me.” she said. “If I don’t want to go with you nobody can make me.” she said. “Not even you, oh great Inu Lord. Not even in your true form” she said. She knew what she was was kept a great secret from the whole world, but if her parents trusted this man...oh well.
The Inu lord was certainly intrigued and felt it wasn’t just hot air that she was blowing out like some young pups did, but really thought she was powerful. “I have heard enough” he said. “They wouldn’t just send me in empty handed” he said. “And how do you expect to best me young one?” he asked her. He wasn’t asking her to do it, more of questioning how.
She smirked. “Using my magic of course.” she said. “Didn’t they tell you?” she asked softly. “Or did they not even trust you...the person they are trusting your daughter with….with that information of what I am.” she said, scoffing at her parents and their idiocy.
He simply shrugged “Perhaps they didn’t want the letter falling into anyone else’s hands by mine” he said. “But really, it won’t be boring in the West” he assured her. “I plan on teaching you lots of things I am sure you will enjoy... “ he said. “Besides, my pup is about your age” he said. “You will have someone to play with” he added.
She rolled her eyes. “Well, you may as well see what you are getting into.” she hissed. She shut her eyes, and suddenly, a huge rush of power came rushing at his face. Her whole body turned red and she transformed. She was bigger then Sesshoumaru was, the size of a very large dog. And her tails, they were 9 of them, and she gazed at him, almost menacingly, but the pressure of her power was just more than impressive.
Toga simply stood there when she had transformed despite how it made his clothes and hair whip around wildly he was just making sure that he wasn't going to be stepped on or anything. He was rather impressed though it didn't show on his face "You're a kyuubi!” he remarked. “And a pretty one at that!” he said. “But I’m not here to train you in this my dear!” he was still much bigger then she was, even if she was bigger then his pup, kyuubi’s did tend to be though he had to admit she was the first young one he’d ever met. He wasn’t afraid of her or anything, and he didn’t believe in bullying children. “Come now, unless you’re scared”
"Not A Kyuubi...the Kyuubi." she said, though it was all mental. The Kyuubi was able to speak with all demons, in their original tongue. She could understand. She transformed back and said “I’m not afraid of anything!” she said. “I can out swordfight every single man in my father's armada.” she said. “Every one!” she said. “Why would I be afraid of you?”
He shrugged, the, a, made no difference. “I never said of me now did I young one?” he said. “You have not tasted fear until you have met my ex-mate” he said just kidding of course. “And I WAS going to let you help me out with my men...seems some have gone weak but if you don’t want to come…” he said. Just because she was allowed to there didn’t mean that any other Lord, well, other then him would let her just help out like that. After all, that was a man’s job, no place for a lady.
She blinked. “...You were going to let me help?” she asked him softly. She let her jaw set, and she picked up her suitcase. “Fine.” she said. “I already told my parents goodbye, not like it’s a big deal, they don’t want me anyways.” she said.
He gave a nod of confirmation "Good, we're all set then" he said. He frowned at he looked back at her. "Well, do good and I may just keep you" he said, trying to lighten the mood though he was quite serious. If he had to, he would adopt the girl. "I just have one stop to make on our way, but it will be good, you’ll get a meal out of it, how comfortable are you around humans?” he asked her as he started their journey.
Mika sighed. “I’m supposed to be good with all races...I'm supposed to be the median.” she said. “So I will tolerate them, why?” she asked. “Are we going to the central lands?” she asked him curiously.
Toga nodded “Yes, I was at a slave auction recently and the princess there purchased a young mixed bred Inu” he explained to her. “He’s about your age or so” he said. “Very, very shy boy” he chuckled at the thought, the lad was not strong in the slightest physically at least. “I figured since it was on the way I would stop in and stay for a bit plus it will save us a hunting trip” he said. “Once we are at their borders your secret goes into effect again”
Mika nodded. “And you like the girl. Or you wouldn’t be going to see them.” she said gently. She sighed and she nodded. “Lets go.” she said. “It shouldn’t take to long to get there.” she said gently. “If it's just the central lands.” she said.
Toga merely smiled but he neither confirmed nor denied this. So they were out on their journey and really, it didn’t take long for them to get back there. He found Mika to be a charming girl, sassy and sharp, but that just added to her charm. He personally would never give one of his children away to another, not even for a summer or however long. The sun though, was already starting to set on them by the time they would reach the central palace. Izayoi’s scent was dying on the wind, mixed with the apple and other fruit trees...and he sighed in content. He could see her, among the apple fields, Kaze just a bit down from her and felt it was as good as any and he would touch down a little ways to simply walk over there. “Good evening Lady Izayoi” he told her, as he approached.
Mika blinked. The woman was beautiful. She felt that Toga and Izayoi needed time alone, so she moved away from the two of them. She was sniffing around, and she said “I’ll leave you alone with...the lady.” she said, bowing to Izayoi politely as she moved around, sniffing in the orchard, she could have one of these probably. But she was going through the trees, she caught a younger scent. She blinked when she was face to face with Kaze. “...!!” she was surprised. “You weren’t...there a second ago” she said. “Oh hey ears…” she said.
Izayoi looked at him and smiled gently. “Hello Lord Taisho.” she said gently. “I didn’t expect you back so soon.” she said as she moved and went up on her tiptoes to try and reach a very ripe looking apple.
Kaze smiled at her "I can be pretty quiet" he told her softly. "It's so nice to see another demon!" he said happily. He would smile at her and try to glance up adorably at his ears, which he really couldn't see “Oh...yeah…” he said. He had his sleeves all rolled up because he had been helping his mother pick the apples and some of the other fruits. It had been so much fun, and not really all that exhausting, plus, he could eat some of them and they were very delicious. He really liked some of the plums. “You...must be Lady Mika, Lord Taisho mentioned he was going to pick you up” he said.
Toga would reach up for her and grab the apple she was trying so hard to reach for and lower it so he could hand it to her. He had to stand a little close to do so. “Mika was quite ready to go” he said. “So it was much quicker then I had expected”
Mika nodded. "Yes. I'm Mika." she said. “I don’t know who you are though.” she said. “Sorry that I just barged in on you...I’ll...go this way.” she said as she moved away from him. She had never had a friend before, it was awkward for her...really awkward.
Izayoi flushed when he helped her. “Thank you M’lord.” she whispered softly. “It is nice to have someone tall.” she said gently. “So...u-um…” she sighed. “What do you wish to do?” she asked “While you are here my father told me to...make you feel welcome.” she said.
Kaze's eyes widened and he hurried after her "Wait! I'm sorry!" he called out to her, that had been so rude of him! Hurrying in front of her he bowed deeply. "Forgive me Lady Mika" he said again. "My name is Kaze" he told her. "It is nice to meet you" he said as he straightened up.
Toga smiled at her "You are welcome" he said. When she asked him what he wanted to do he smiled and said "I was thinking later perhaps when the young ones were settled in that you might want to go on a walk with me" he asked her "I’m rather fond of the stars...and being in the company of a beautiful woman helps too” he said.
Mika's eyes widened. “Oh...you don’t need to be...sorry.” she said. “Don’t ask for forgiveness...and don’t call me Lady.” she said. “I’m no lady…” she said. “they made me leave. I’m going with Toga.” she said. “To the west, because nobody can handle me. she said. “Anyways, this is an all human village, what are you doing here?” she asked.
“...O-oh.” she said softly. “I’m flattered Lord Taisho.” she said gently. “But you know that I am...engaged to Takemaru.” she said gently. “He wouldn’t like it.” she whispered in her soft voice. “I shouldn’t.”
Kaze sighed "Oh... Mother pulled me out of the slave auction" he whispered to her. "She's the Lady here, Izayoi" he said motioning to who he meant. "I love it here! It's so open and everyone is so friendly" he said with a smile. "How come you're traveling with Lord Taisho?" he asked her. "Is.....it okay if I call you Mika?...I...just wanted to make sure first" it was the polite thing to do after all and he wanted his mother to be proud of him for handling the situation in a polite friendly manner.
He merely smiled “It is alright, I have spoken to your father about such things” he assured her. “He seems to think that it will be alright” he could imagine as long as the other male never learned of such a thing. “Though, if you personally are not comfortable with it I understand, but I am not worried about Takemaru’s feelings”
Mika blinked. "And...you call her mother?" she asked him. "I don't know..." she said gently. "That seems odd." she said. “I’m traveling with him, because my parents didn’t want me.” she said. “THat was that.” she said. They didn’t want her and she couldn’t believe it. “I may as well be an orphan...may as well be all alone, I don’t even like Toga.” she said.
“You spoke to him...What do you...what did you speak with him about?” she asked him softly. “Me?” she asked him softly. “Why would you speak with him about me?” she asked gently.
Kaze's ears fell when she called it odd for him referring to a human as his mother, though they stayed that way when she said that her own parents didn't want her. "No? Lord Taisho seems like a nice guy, he protects the lands here unlike the other Lords I heard" he said. "Is....is...it really so bad that I call her mother?" he asked her sadly. "I really love Izayoi...."
Toga smiled "Because I happen to think that you’re someone worth seeing again” he said. “Need I really say more then that?”
Mika sighed. "No...it's not, you should call her mother if you feel like she is your mother." she said. “At least you have someone to care for you, it’s more than most demons have.” she said gently. “Anyways...I shouldn’t bug you really.” she said gently. “Its not...I dont...have friends.” she whispered.
Toga was sweet, but Izayoi frowned. “...Yes...I want...to know what this is...if you expect it to be anything more than just...this.” she said. “I’m prepared to lose my son over this marriage...because I have to…” she said. “I would give anything to not have to…” she whispered, ,though it was more of a side note...not something that he had to take into consideration.
Kaze smiled, that made him happy she wasn't judging him! He had his fill of that already. "It's okay, I don't either" he said. He would hold his hand to her to take "If you want to...I can show you where the fire flies gather" he said. "It's very pretty" he said as he glanced at the sky. "And just about the time that they come out!" Maybe...they could be friends, but only if it was alright with her. They probably wouldn't see much of one another anyways...at least, that's what he had figured then.
Toga blinked, then smiled at her. "Honestly...I could not stop thinking of you" he told her. "I didn't come to court you straight away...more of get to know you before I would make such a move" he said. He nodded, he could tell this pained her...the pup too... "You were so sweet and caring... and we share so many interests..." he said. "It does not matter to me that we are not of the same kind”
Mika looked at his outstretched hand. She sighed, and for a moment, nothing, but she smiled then, and took his hand. “Okay.” she said. “We don’t have fireflies in the south.” she commented. “Does this mean that we are friends?” she asked him quietly, almost timidly it seemed.
Izayoi blushed. “I...couldn’t stop thinking of you either.” she said. “You were so sweet to let me have Kaze and...well...A very handsome Youkai…” she whispered. “It...doesn’t matter to me either, if we care for each other...it might be...nice.” she said.
Kaze smiled at the thought “Sure!” he told her happily. He didn’t know how else people became friends...wasn’t it something that you both agreed and it happened? At least that’s how he felt it would be. Since they weren’t going far, he felt not telling his mother where they were was okay and tugged her along, taking the lead for once. “Oh...I remember traveling through the south...there was always that spark of magic in the air..” he said. “We even went North once...the..well the slave trade I mean” he said. “But it was much too cold!” he would stop in the center of a meadow and let go of her hand so he could plop down in the soft grass and glance up at the sky. He smiled and patted the spot beside him.
Now that, was a fantastic answer Toga knew Izayoi was special and that right there proved that if they did become a couple, they could overcome what others said about it. “Yes...it would be” he agreed. “I take it that you would like to see me tonight then” he said glancing over to where the pups had been “Oh...seems the pups are having a good time on their own…” he wasn’t concerned about them going off on their own since Mika was a very powerful demon not many would stand a chance.
Mika smiled. "It is magical." she cooed gently. "I am a big part of it." she whispered gently. She moved and slowly, she wove her hand, and a solid gold talisman, with her insignia was on it. She smirked and gave it to him. "Here" she said softly. “For my first friend.” she said, offering him the talisman. “My magic doesn’t fade.” she said gently.
Izayoi smiled. “Yes...I’d love to go. Do you think that the children will be alright?” she asked him softly. “Kaze isn’t...well he seems happy, I have to finish picking these trees though.” she said gently. “Would you like to help?” she asked him softly.
Kaze wasn't sure exactly what she was talking about but his eyes widened so much for a moment and he smiled when she gave him the talisman and his whole face just seemed to light up. "Oh I love it!" he said. "Thank you Mika!" he told her. He would look at it after he had put it on and glance up at the sky, the sun was already low and the fireflies as he had said were coming out lighting up the meadow around them like stars themselves. "I don't have any special powers like that..." he said. "...What did you mean earlier, when he you said you were a big part of the magic?" he asked her.
Toga nodded “Yes, Mika is a lot stronger then she looks” he said, but that was all he would really say about it, he felt it was vague enough. “Sure” he offered. If it meant having more time alone with her, then anything really, besides, it was a nice night… as long as Mika didn’t kill Kaze then things would be all good. That was the furthest thing from his mind though.. “I have not done something like this….ever that I can recall” he said but he seemed amused by it. “Actually a little refreshing..”
"Oh, well in the beginning of the world...my kind started this lovely country.” she said gently. “That’s why my kind has all the magic. Someday, when I’m really...old enough I’ll take over, because I was born with all of the real magic.” she said. “It’s okay though.” she said softly. “Ask me for anything. Anything you want. she said gently. “I can give it to you.” she said.
Izayoi smiled gently and offered him her arm. “I’ve never either.” she said gently. “I know that you are much older than me, you are robbing the cradle here a little bit.” she said gently. “Would you like to see my favorite spot?” she asked him softly.
Kaze blinked and he sat up on his elbows, he'd never really heard of a kind like hers, though he believed her but it sounded so fascinating. He didn’t ask what she was though, it was her business and she hadn’t asked what he was either and he didn’t want to be rude to her again. "Oh I couldn't do that to you" he said. "You're my friend, I can't use you in that way" he said. "But thank you..." he said. "I really appreciate it" he said. He giggled when one of the fireflies tickled his his ears by landing on it.
Toga would take her arm again, it felt so nice having her so close. “Hey, I’m only in my mid twenties in human years” he said. Really their obvious age gap had never crossed his mind before. He was a few hundred years older then her technically. “THough, yes, I would like to see it” he said.
Mika smiled and said “Wow...they are beautiful. Look at their tails.” she said. “I just want to go into my true form and chase them.” she said, giggling a little bit. THen she blushed. “But you wouldn’t like it.” she said gently. “I’m...well...all of us in our true forms…we get odd.” she said gently.
Izayoi said softly “Come” she said, pulling him along down through the apple fields and towards the stream. There was a wild waterfall, and she pulled him behind it, to a hidden cave, full of beautiful...magical golden flowers. She didn’t know they were magic, she just knew they were beautiful.
Kaze smiled "I bet your true form is beautiful" he said. "I've never seen anyone's true form before!" he told her sitting up and "But I have heard it is something special to look at!" he said excitedly as he sat up to look at her. He doubted he had anything like that within him existed, he would have known by now.
Toga glanced around the beautiful lands, he didn't expect anything like that around there. He could feel all the magic from the flowers there. They seemed to light up all about them, spores from the flowers would shoot up all around them clinging to the walls and their clothing, the spores were the source of the glowing it seemed. “Oh...this is nice..” he agreed. “It has been a very long time since I have seen magic flowers..” he told her. He smiled. “These particular ones” he said scooping one carefully off the cave floor “Only light up in the presence of soulmates” indeed it glowed brighter between them.
Mika smiled, and she let light engulf her. She ended up in her adorable true form, all 9 tails were a bright white. She smiled as she bounded up to him and snuggled in his lap. She smiled gently as she licked his face. She liked him, and the fact that he wanted to be her friends. She smiled and nipped at his ear, she wanted to play!!
Izayoi smiled as she looked at Toga, “Aren’t they beautiful?” she asked. However, when he said that they only lit up in the presence of soulmates, she laughed aloud. “Oh come on, that is ridiculous.” she said gently. “We can't be soul mates.” she said gently. “That’s...it’s ridiculous.” she said gently. But she was just staring at the flowers. THey were glowing quite a brilliant color.
Kaze laughed when she licked his face. "I was right! You’re very pretty!!" he told her. She was very beautiful. He would laugh and he would run from her, he didn’t really have the means to bite back, his teeth weren’t strong enough yet but at least she would have fun chasing him and so would he.
Toga smiled “See?” he said. Just to prove it to her, he would step away from her and sure enough as soon as he did they would start to lose that brilliant glow. It was very pretty when they were all lit up like that. Personally if he hadn’t witnessed it himself, he might not have believed it either.
She smiled gently, running towards him slowly, as if she was stalking him, “Grrrrrr” she growled out. She smiled and jumped him. She laid her tails down, and pushed him onto the fluffy tails. She then licked at him, giving him kisses and one of her tails would start to wag a little bit. “I like...playing with you!” she said.
Izayoi gasped, it wasn’t really proof, but it was close enough. “...Wow, it’s... what...what do we do about it?” she asked him softly, curiously. “If it’s...if it’s just a glowing...flower, or if...if we don’t...I mean….” she was simply so flustered about it, she didn’t know what to do, if they were soulmates…
He laughed and snuggled into those lovely tails of hers. “I like playing with you too!” he told her. She was a lot of fun, more so then he remembered having in his whole life. He growled back playfully but he didn’t get up, something had crossed his mind and he was curious if it was like that all over...or perhaps just for youkai boys. “Hey Mika…” he asked her glancing up at her. “Did your parents make you sign a contract?” he asked her. “You know...to marry someone?”
“Well…” Toga said slowly. “I personally would much rather act upon this…” he said. “Perhaps talk to your father about taking Takemaru out of the picture forever..” he said. After all, they would have an open field that way...wouldn't have to worry about the man coming in and ruining their lives. She was already worried about being separated from her pup, might as well go for it.
Mika sighed and sat down. She gazed at him and said "No. I do not need a contract. The type of Kitsune I am...well...my blood overtakes anybodies. I could mate with the dirtiest street human." she said gently. “And it would be a full blood kitsune.” she said. “It’s just, how my...blood works.” she said. “So I’m not engaged...all my sisters and brothers are…” she said. “My parents tried to pimp me out to the highest bidder.” she said. “I destroyed the palace…” she said.
Izayoi looked away from him and said “I’m...This happens one in a million.” she whispered. “Nobody finds their soul mates.” she said said. “I know that it's sad but I’m nervous. I don’t...we would have such problems.” she said gently. “I’m not someone you should fall in love with.” she said.
Kaze smiled “As well you should have!” he said. Then he sighed “Mother...has my contract...after all I was just a slave before” he said. “I remember it too..there was a girl having her first brood… they liked to have their way with the girls after all” it was common place there after all. “I can’t go and destroy any buildings myself but… maybe I’ll be lucky and she’ll be with someone else…” he said. He could hope.
Toga gave a small smile “It’s because no one has successfully done it...not really” he said. “It is quite a dangerous game but I think if everyone could see that love knows no race...perhaps we would not be so at war” he said. “Or perhaps it is a foolish thought...but I am willing to put it on the line” he said. Everything, his life, his title...it seemed even his family but the question was...was she? “You do not have to be afraid” rejection was hard but he wanted to try and make at least an argument.
Mika sighed. “It just sucks.” she said softly. “...Every male is always engaged to another right when they are born a male.” she said gently. “I’m never going to find someone.” she said, her ears drooping, and she turned back into her normal self. “I just wish that I could find someone who would want me.” she said gently. “But I can’t ruin anyone else's engagement.” she said. She was only 150 years old or so...but it was alright anyways.
Izayoi shook her head. “Lord Taisho…” she whispered softly. “I’m...I’m so flattered, you and I...If we really were, are soulmates. You have power, you have a son from what my fathers said, who’s accustomed to a lifestyle. You don’t want to put it on the line for me. I don’t want to ruin anything. I don’t want that.” she said, taking a step away from him. “I can see myself caring so much for you...I can see myself loving you...but I don’t want No...no that’s just a terrible idea.” she said gently.
Kaze blinked and got to his feet. "Really...I don't see why we can't still be friends" he said as it seemed as they were kind of heading in that direction. "If I had a choice Mika...I personally would want to pick someone like you" he said. They had clicked. "And not just because you're fun, but you're strong, and beautiful" he told her and he was quite serious when he said this. "And I would be quite happy to get to know you" he said. But...that was a choice. He wasn't a noble or anything, a mere slave in anyone's eyes. It was all he would ever be, no matter if he could call Izayoi mother or not...there was no such thing as adoption papers. "Slaves don't get options" he whispered. "No matter what it's all I will be"
Toga's brows creased, she was saying all these things and yet she was rejecting him because she was worried about ruining things? He wasn’t the least bit concerned with what would be, for her, he felt the risk was worth taking after all, he had handled everything that had been thrown at him so far. “Is it so?” he said. “Don’t you think perhaps I might feel the same...that certain things and people are worth taking a risk for?” he continued. “Don’t walk away from this Izayoi…” he told her. “Don’t regret not taking this leap, forget what it may or may not do to me only you have to make the decision for yourself”
Mika smiled and said “We can still be friends, I promise.” she whispered softly. “You...should ask your mother…” she said. “If she is your owner, she can release you from the confines of the contract.” she said. “And if she is your mother, and you love her...and she loves you...she will rip up the contract.” she told him softly. “Not that...we should get together...or you should ask me to marry you...but I can tell, you are so much more than a slave.” she said, when she heard herself saying that, she blushed. “...I’m not a very soft girl…” she said softly.
Izayoi shook her head, and she turned away from him, she crossed her arms, and she sighed. “...I just…” she sighed softly and she said “I’m engaged, and I’m a human, and there isn’t any way that we would work, what if I got pregnant!?” she asked. “...my belly swollen with puppies...that might be deformed or...worse feral...we just don't know!” she said. “You should go...I’ll stay with Takemaru...and…” she sighed deeply. She didn’t know demons, and their reactions. And she didn’t know that she might elicit a bad one, with this comment.
Kaze looked so relieved when she said they could still be friends, though, he hadn't been aware that his mother could do that. He was going to ask her to rip it up as soon as he had a moment alone with her. "I didn't know you could do that!" he said. BUt what she had said next, had him smiling so sweetly at her. "It's okay that you're not it suits you, I really appreciate you saying that' he said. "You're such a great friend Mika" he told her.
Toga could feel his beast flare up, the dark swirl of his aura would kick up the flowers again and his eyes would bleed red just a bit. He was pushing it down inside, but really it was angry and he was partially letting it have its turn to speak. “No pup of mine would be deformed or feral!” he growled. “I am not a lowly youkai” he huffed. “And you would really wish to stay with a man who will just use your body to make babies for his pleasure alone!?” he was getting rather worked up. “IF that is the case I will take my leave and bring Kaze with me and you will not see him again I have no intention soul mate or not to be around a woman who would chose such a miserable fate”
Mika smiled, and flopped back into the grass. "This is lovely, can we stay like this? Forever?" she asked, snuggling to him.
Izayoi's eyes widened. "You know just as well as I do that it doesn't matter if you are a loly youkai or not. It's just a roll of the dice Lord Taisho! And YOU should know that just as well as I!” she said. “You are being defensive!! Why are you being defensive?” she asked. When he threatened to take Kaze away from her, she gasped at him, and her eyes filled with tears. She couldn’t even say anything, and with that, she ran out of the cave, though she wasn’t very fast.
Kaze plopped down beside her and would slip his hand into hers as he looked up at the sky. "I'd like that' he said. He was getting an odd feeling though...he wasn't sure what it was...but it felt...troublesome. He ignored it, in favor of staying there with her unaware he was starting to be in tune with Izayoi's emotions.
Toga huffed "Perhaps I thought you were worth something more then that!" he growled. His beast was being cold and not being moved by her tears. He pushed down his beast, that was being so cruel to her and sighed hurrying after her. “Izayoi!” he called out to her. That was what had made her so upset? He could feel his beast arguing with him that she hardly knew the puppy but he could understand. It was probably a motherly instinct...love at first sight. He caught up easily enough to her and grabbed her arm so she would stop. “Wait” he said in a calmer tone.
Izayoi didn’t stop walking when he called out to her, she sighed deeply. She let the tears drip down her face. When he grabbed her, and she stopped she didn’t face him. “Why?” she asked. “You are the Lord who protects my lands, if you want the pup there is nothing I can do” she said, her voice was flat. “And I feel how angry you are with me, I hurt your pride, telling it how we both know it is.” she said. “Any of those children you would put in my belly, they would be hated, worse then slaves, worse than the lowest human forms, they would be outcasts. Is that fair?”
Toga sighed “We really do not know how they would react to such a child…” he said. “A hanyou it would be yes, but the puppies could be strong things” he said. “Capable of much greatness, they don’t have to be outcasts or nobodies...” he said. Her swollen with his puppies...what a magnificent sight she would be. “And for the record, I’m not taking your boy away from you” he said. “I was simply angry and by all rights, he is yours we are not in the West, I have no right so you know” he could threaten to do it all he wanted but that invited her to come into his lands and rightfully take him back.
“If you said that when I made you mad...what would you be capable of doing if I really pissed you off?” she asked. “I don’t know demons, I don't know your ways or your kind, and if you were so...violent with me for just mentioning a fact we all know to be true…” she said. She was just trying to get out of it really, but she didn’t move, she was waiting for his answer, looking him straight in the eyes, they were so close now.
What he did have the power to do, unfortunately was nothing good for them. "If I was really pissed off, I could stop the treaty here" he told her. "But that would do me no good" he said. He got trades from there, plenty of goods he had no reason to stop it. "Nor will I get to that point" he said. "I was not violent with you at all, angry, sure...but...we inus have an easily wounded pride...especially during such a passionate subject" he said. “I want to make this work Izayoi...I really feel it could and not because of some flower either but what I truly feel deep down...it just feels right even if it seems...well, wrong”
Izayoi sighed gently. “...” She didn’t say anything at first, but then she whispered “...Okay.” she said gently. She sighed. “We can...try.” she said. “You are right.” she said in her softest tones. “But, Takemaru is supposed to be home tomorrow, it won’t be good...Toga this just isn’t...I just don’t know.” she said softly.
Toga of course let go of her arm, he really didn’t need to be holding onto her any longer, and instead placed his hand on her cheek. “We will figure something out” he assured her. He would come straight back if he had to, hell, he might even get a kick out of letting Mika take care of the human but he wasn’t going to let anything happen. “I will protect you” he said.
Izayoi looked at Toga, her eyes softened and she smiled. “Okay Toga.” she whispered softly as she moved towards him, and she kissed his cheek. Then, Izayoi kissed his lips, she wanted to know what it felt like. “I would like that.” she said gently.
Toga smiled it was like a little spark when she had kissed him and he would give her a small nuzzle and lean in like he was going to give her another kiss before he licked the tip of her nose. “We should check up on the pups..” he said. “They’re probably hungry and as much as I would have liked...I should not stay much longer” he said. He had never intended to spend the night, plus he should talk to her father about all of this…
Izayoi smiled softly. “Will you promise me...that you will come back soon then?If this is what we are really doing with each other, then you will come back to me...as soon as you can?” she asked him. “Please?” she asked. She smiled and she offered to take his arm. Then she decided to walk with him, back towards the children.
Toga smiled and nodded “As soon as I am able” he said. “I need to at least make sure I get Mika safely to my palace before I can return” he said. He could come back that quickly to see her. “I had thought to simply ask you back with me but, that would seem rather sudden and I am sure, when your father speaks to Takemaru he would wish you present” he told her.
Izayoi nodded. And she moved towards her pup, she stopped though, when she saw the most precious sight, the two were curled up, and sleeping together with one another. “That...is adorable.” she said gently. “Kaze...ai…” she whispered softly. But she didn’t move to stop him.
Toga smiled too then he wondered about something and plucked one of the spores that was still on him off his sash and carefully, silently he placed it between the two pups to see if it would glow or not between them as well. After all...it would make it much sweeter and he backed away just as carefully he didn’t want to disturb them.
When the little spore started to glow, Mika stirred just a little bit, rubbing her eyes tiredly, she was an adorable kitsune, and she couldn’t help but yawn. “Mm?” she asked, gazing up at Toga. “Do we have to leave?” she asked.
Toga gave a small nod “Yes, I am afraid it is time to go” he said quietly. He would have just carried her if she had started to sleep. He glanced at Izayoi with a small smile and said. “Perhaps you two could come after all” he said. He hadn’t known the children were so connected already and...as fate would have it...destined to be soulmates. “If you are still tired, I will cary you” he offered.
Izayoi smiled and said “You could...stay tonight if you wish, The children are so tired…” she said. “And we will explain to my father in the morning.” she told him gently. “But I don’t think Kaze and I can just...run away, and vanish.” she said softly.
Toga sighed “What do you think Mika, would you like to stay?” he asked her. He had not intended it, but perhaps the night wouldn't be too bad and it looked like Kaze was just so tuckered out. Pup hadn’t even woken up yet. “No, but a visit wouldn’t hurt... “ he said. “But, we can talk about that another time...it is late’ he agreed. He had already promised to come back soon, stuff like that he felt could be for another time.
Mika nodded and she moved to walk with them. Izayoi, with only some difficulty, picked up kaze and started to walk with him in her arms. “Don’t worry, you don't have to stay long.” she cooed gently. How was she to know that Takemaru was on his way back, and had heard about both Inu Taisho being kind to her, and that she’d ‘adopted’ a demon. He was coming to take her away...by force if he had to. When Izayoi got to the palace she smiled at Toga. “There is a guest room, right down the hall. Kaze sleeps in my room with me.” she said. “Tomorrow we will talk more, alright?” she asked.
Toga gave a nod and glanced at Mika “I guess you’re with me then” he said. It was alright, he didn’t need to sleep. Besides, he was used to giving up the bed for Sesshoumaru sometimes, especially when his pup wasn’t feeling well and would head down the hall to the guest room. He would like to get an early start and was still planning on having a talk with Sato. “Go on then Mika” he said. Surely she was still tired and once he had gotten her settled he would go and speak with the Central Lord.
