Sesshomaru tilted his head to the side. He flung the girl aside and watched with mild interest as Jaken threw himself in front of her. His eyes nearly popped out of his head before crumpling to the ground.
'You dare?'
Gasping for air, Jaken scrambled to his feet and nervously sputtered, 'M-my lord I-I-'
Jaken knew it was a gamble, helping her, but he risked certain death at a later date should anything befall Rin, even if Lord Sesshomaru did not care at the moment.
He swollowed and scrambled to his feet before falling after his lord. 'M-my lord, will we continue towards the shrine?'
Lord Sesshomaru did not answer, he merely walked north...when they needed to go west. Jaken did not dare to say anything else. He glanced at Rin, who lay in a crumpled heap on the forest floor.
He hated her more than anything. It was because of her that but Lord Sesshomaru became like this. And it was because of her that he lived in fear of his lord. But still...
He feared what his lord might do if she died, even if he seemed to care nothing for her now.
'Aren't you going to kill her?' A voice from above spoke.
Jaken and Lord Sesshomaru glanced up. A handsome youth sat in the trees, grinning from ear to ear.
Jaken held his staff up as an ice-cold terror caused his entire form to tremble. Unbothered, Lord Sesshomaru watched the youth with indifference.
He raised his arm to kill him but the boy jumped back and put his hands up defensively, 'Sorry, sorry. I am leaving. Just thought it was interesting.'
Jaken watched as Lord Sesshomaru sliced him two, and the body fell to the earth. And then he continued his slow and steady walk north.
Shaking, Jaken glanced at the body, then at Rin, and followed. Not for the first time, he cursed her existence.
