It was night and the stars and the full moon were shining brightly as Bankotsu and Kagome sit down on a rock while he took out some bandages from within his clothing. Kagome wasn’t even looking at him. Hell, she wasn’t even paying attention. She was just looking at her claws, still in shock about her being a hanyou. ‘Why am I a half-demon? I never was before. Was I?’ Her eyes widened as memories from long ago seem to be resurfacing.

Thirteen Years Ago

A five-year-old Kagome was with her father, Ryuji, who was currently teaching her how to fight. “Like this, father?” Kagome asked, slashing her claws at what was supposed to be a dummy, but it looked awfully like a human as well. She ran up to it and brought her claws vertically downwards, so that she could destroy it with one go. Normally she would miss the attack, because her aim wasn’t any good. However now, she did it perfectly. Although it was still hard for her to destroy moving targets, but she had a feeling that her father would teach her how to do that too. Her father taught her everything. Once the dummy was destroyed, it spurts out a red liquid that looked, however it wasn’t blood. It was just paint that Ryuji got from the garage.

“Kags! Ryu!” Her mother, Hikari shouted out to both of them, using her husband’s and daughter’s nickname that she gave to them. Actually Ryuji came up with the idea for, Kags and Hikari came up with the idea for Ryuji.

Kagome’s two black and blue dog ears flicked towards the sound as she happily ran to her mom. Hikari had fixed dinner and called her daughter and husband in. “Mommy, I’m hungry” Kagome said and her stomach growled to prove her. Hikari looked down at the state her daughter was in, and sighed.

‘Again? Ryuji always does things like this.’ “Kagome, you’re a mess.”

“Yep! Daddy taught me how to properly attack with my claws!” Kagome looked happy that her father was teaching her. In fact, she was very close to her father. She came to him more than she came to her mom when she first started began walking. Every time Hikari said, “Come here, Kagome. Come to Mommy.” Despite that, she went straight to her dad, but that was four years ago.

“Let’s get you into the bath and your pajamas, okay.” Hikari said, looking at the state her daughter was in once again. She would have a word with Ryuji about this later. She knew that he was teaching this to Kagome to defend herself, but she feared that Kagome might really kill a person.

Present

Fifteen minutes had passed by as Bankotsu finished putting the bandages on. In two days the wound will completely heal. A single tear fell from Kagome eyes, then another, until she was sobbing into her hands.

Bankotsu looked at her crying and started to comfort her by wrapping his arms around her waist and back and pulled her against him. He slowly patted her back as he waited for her to calm down. Within three minutes, she calmed down, and had stopped crying. She still had her face buried against his chest with her eyes closed, until she opened them and looked at where she was at. She blushed a deep crimson and pushed him away.

“I-I’m sorry. I didn’t know what came over me,” she stuttered obviously embarrassed by what happened.

Bankotsu looked at her and asked, “What caused you to cry like that?”

“I just remembered something about my father, that’s all”

“I see.” He saw her wince in pain and knew it was from the wound that was currently bandage up. ‘I have to get her to tell me what happened,’ he thought. “Kagome” Bankotsu said in a stern voice.

“What?” She asked, noticing the tone he had in his voice. It made her flinch for a few seconds. ‘It seems he wants something from me. What could it be?’

“Tell me how you got that injury.” He wasn’t asked, he was demanding.

“It’s none of your business,” she said defiantly turning to face away from him and stood up.

“Tell me” He said angrily putting a hand on her shoulder to turn her around.

She turned around at her own free will. ‘Fine, I’ll tell you what happened!” She stood up, yelling at him. “Inuyasha raped me!” She shouted in his face. He was taken aback by what she had said.

‘He raped her?’ He remembered the sad looking on her face once she mentioned Inuyasha to her. She tried to cover it up with her anger, but he could see right through her. ‘So that’s why she was injured so badly.’

She looked like she was about to cry again, but held back her tears. It wasn’t worth crying over that rapist. He even thought she was Kikyou. She gave out a laugh at that thought. She was in love with him and he went and tore her heart to pieces by destroying the Bone Eaters Well and raping her while calling out Kikyou’s name. How could she have been so naive. He loved Kikyou, not hers. She saw them together many times and still was too blind to see that Inuyasha didn’t love her. He only had her there in the feudal era, because she could see the jewel shards and that she looked like Kikyou. ‘That kiss at Kaguya’s castle was just a lie then.’ Everything about what they did together was a lie.

Bankotsu looked at Kagome as she let out a little laugh, he knew that nothing was funny and that she was laughing at a certain memory, but he could tell that something was wrong. ‘Maybe she’s thinking about that hanyou bastard, Inuysha. It’s more like Inutrasha now though. What kind of man would rape a woman’ He looked into her eyes and saw the pain and hurt in them. ‘I can’t stand looking at those sad eyes,’ “I know that loser hurt you and I know you probably won’t accept this offer, but I just have to ask. Will you travel with me?”

Her hazel eyes widened as a small gasp was heard from her. Was he really asking her to travel with him? ‘Why would he do this though? What does he think he’ll gain by me traveling with me?’ A few minutes passed as she thought over her answer to his question. ‘I’ll do it’ She decided.

Bankotsu waited patiently for her reply and was surprised when she actually said, “Yes, I will travel with you, Bankotsu.”

“You can trust me. I’m not like Inutrasha.” Bankotsu said as Kagome gave out a small giggle at his nickname for Inuyasha. In fact, she kind of liked that nickname for him. It suited it well now, since Inuyasha was a piece of trash for doing this to her.

“I believe you”
