A/n Thanks SammyJams for my first review! This chapter has some reference to rape and torture so readers beware. I would also like to explain that in my story Naraku and Onigumo are two separate characters. Naraku is a half demon like Inuyasha, he may be cold but not evil and Onigumo will be our main evil villain.

Chapter 3 Evil Rising

Zenaku Onigumo Yamada was a strong and powerful business man who always got what he wanted and what he wanted was Kagome Higurashi. She was the most powerful Miko he had come across in many centuries and he needed that power for himself. His plan had been fool proof until the wolf demon made a mistake getting caught with his lover. The curse had been doing exactly what it was intended but as soon as Kagome had been faced with the betrayal of her fiancé it waived long enough for the ring that kept it strong to be removed. Koga was an idiot who needed to be control, and how Zenaku controlled Koga was with his soul mate. The person he truly loved was Ayame a female wolf youkai, who he kept in a safe house far away from the wolf for over a year now. He growled at the phone as he waited for said demon to answer. Koga answered on the third ring and was waiting for his boss to speak, he knew that either he could fix this and save his love or she was dead.

“ You fucking idiot, what were you thinking?” Zenaku snarled into the phone almost crushing it in his fist. He was so temped to cut a piece of Ayame off and send it to the wolf as a reminded of their mission.

“ I thought I had broken her spirit, I followed you orders exactly, she should be broken. I guess I under estimated her, I don’t think I can do this anymore boss. She’s a good human and what I have done I can be hung for. She would never come back to me now, now that she with Inuyasha and the spell no longer controlling her.” Koga spoke quickly, his hope was that his evil demon saw that he was worthless now and would release his mate. He had never wanted to be a part of any of this but had to be thanks to Zenaku kidnapping his future mate he didn’t have a choice. It was he followed the orders explicitly or she died at the dark monsters hand. He met Ayame while out one day with his father doing business, they instantly connected. It wasn’t long before they were spending more and more time together. The more time he spent with Ayame hanging out the more he fought with Kagome. He never cheated on Kagome but realized within a few months of meeting Ayame that she was the woman for him. When she broke up with him he had been relieved because he was only just working up the courage to do it himself. He didn’t want to hurt her, but realized he needed to dump her. That week he had asked Ayame to be his mate and not even two days later Ayame had been taken and he was contacted by the mad man he now was forced to work for.

“ Your incompetence astounds me boy, do you ever want to see your future mate again?” His voice took on a sadistic tone. “ Or maybe I should just make her my play thing and then kill her? To hear that little fiery she wolf scream as I pound into her while slicing little bits of her skin off would be very entertaining. Knowing that she would be healed by the next night for me to torture her all over again-” Zenaku paused as he felt himself harden at the thought. “ Yes a very pleasing sight that would be.” He laughed as Koga let out a small whimper. On the other end of the phone Koga stood raging inside but on the outside his face paled and let out a small whimper of submission. He knew he would have to keep going on with this psychopaths plans or his sweet little Ayame would suffer. But now he knew what he needed to do, just because he was agreeing to continue helping didn’t mean he couldn’t figure out a way to save his future mate and Kagome from this man.

“ Tell me what you want me to do?” Koga finally answer and Zenaku’s sadistic smirk grew bigger as he laid out the next part of the plan to the wolf.

Kagome woke feeling better then she could remember feeling in a long time. Sure her ankle still hurt like crazy but she slept so deep, that she actually felt refreshed. She was currently using Inuyasha’s chest as a pillow which he didn’t to mind as he was rubbing her back and the rumble from his chest was back. She knew he was awake and she was sure he knew she was awake but both were content to just be in each other’s presence and cuddle.

“ Good morning beautiful.” Inuyasha finally spoke, slowly sitting up, taking Kagome with him. “ How are you feeling today?” He brushed her hair away from her face and gazed into her eyes.

“ Actually besides my ankle throbbing not too bad, whatever was in that bath last night really helped my sore muscles.” She stretched out arching her back in the process. Inuyasha growled appreciatively at the sight of her. She caught the look he was giving her and smirked back. “ How did you sleep?” She sat up and swung her legs over the bed to give her ankle a test before putting all her weight on it.

“ Haven’t slept that good since the last time I slept in a bed with you. I used some of mother’s famous healing salts in the bath. I am glad they helped, I am sure she won’t mind that I grabbed some.” Inuyasha got up and went around to her side of the bed to help her up. He took her hand as she eased out the bed and put some weight on her ankle. “ Slowly, not to fast there speedy.”

She shot him a look and continued her test on her ankle, so far just a throbbing pain but the shooting pain was gone. As long as she took it easy she should have no problem walking on it, sure she would have a little limp but nothing some rest and ice won’t take care of. She pouted at the thought that Inuyasha wouldn’t be carrying her around anymore. She looked at him and he frowned about to ask why she looked so sad but she beat him to the punch instead. “ Guess since my ankle is feeling so much better, you won’t have to carry me around anymore. I was enjoying the princess treatment.” Inuyasha throw his head back and let out a bark of laughter.

“ Well princess Kagome, you are in luck because I am decreeing you are not to walk anywhere for the rest of your life.” He gathered her up into his arms as she let out a surprised squeal and they made their way to the kitchen. Just before he got to the door he smelled the visitors. “ Kagome your mom and my mom are here.” He warned her before walking through the door of the kitchen. She smiled as she entered the kitchen to see Izayoi and her mother, Mai, were sitting at the kitchen tabled and smiled at their children as they walked in. Inuyasha gently sat Kagome down in one of the chairs and she graciously took the cup of coffee her mother offered her. The two women picked up the conversation they were having about some show they both liked while Kagome enjoyed her coffee and Inuyasha went to get another pot to put on the table. Kagome studied the women as she sipped her coffee. Her mother just seemed to never age, only for the fine lines that were starting to show around her light brown eyes. Her black hair was cut short only a few inches from the root but it still had some of the wave that Kagome definitely inherited from her. She was only slightly taller than Kagome and her figure hadn’t really changed much since her younger. As Mai said she maybe a little squishier now but it meant she could enjoy her sweets. Izayoi was a couple inches taller, and wore her her long black hair in a braid twisted into a bun. She honestly hadn’t changed much since she mated Toga 200 years prior. She looked to be in her 30’s and had the body of a model, long, thin and delicate. In Kagome’s eyes she was stunning.

“ Well you two seem cozy.” Izayoi finally commented, while smirking behind her coffee. It was easy to see that these two loved each other. The connection between them was undeniable and it seemed fate brought them back together.

“ Mama, Izzy, we actually have some news.” Kagome was starting this chapter of her life fresh, with no secrets and especially no secrets from the two women that raised her. “ Me and Inuyasha are entering an official mating courtship.” She sucked her bottom lip in between her teeth and waited nervously for an answer. Inuyasha stood behind Kagome with his hands on her shoulders. He was surprised she told them right out of the gate but was happy and he knew they would be shocked but happy for them in return.

“ Kagome, that’s fantastic news.” Mama Higurashi was surprised but not really by the kids new. What surprised her was that Kagome almost married one demon last night and today she was entering a courtship with another. She knew that her daughter loved Inuyasha and for a very long time but she needed to make sure her daughter wasn’t rushing into anything. “ Sweetie, you know that I love you, and that I am so happy that you and Inuyasha have finally realized you have feelings for each other but-” Mai spoke softly but honestly. She looked at Izayoi for support and found what she need in the others woman.

“ Kagome, what your mother is trying to say is last night you almost married Koga. After what he did you last night; it all seems a little sudden.” Izayoi finished what Mai was trying to say. Kagome tensed but she understood their concerns and would explain everything but before she could even start to explain Inuyasha jumped in to help her out.

“ Mom, Mai, before you guys jump to any conclusions please let us explain some things. First you guys need to understand we are taking this courtship very serious and slow. As me and Kagome discussed last night, I am going to let her tell me what she needs and give her time to heal. She sets the pace of our relationship and I going to support her while we figure out who the hell is trying to hurt her.” Inuyasha took her hand and sat beside her.

“ What do you mean trying to hurt her?” Mai looked back and forth between Inuyasha and Kagome to see if maybe they were joking, but the serious look they held on their faces made her believe them.

“ Well mama you must have noticed I had changed over the last few months. I don’t know how to explain it but all I know is last night after Miroku slapped that ofuda on Koga I felt like a haze had been lifted from my mind. Like I had been drunk and suddenly I was sober. We haven’t figure out much yet but all I know is someone was trying to use Koga to control me and now we need to figure out who.” Kagome explain when it seemed to have start and that now that she had a clear mind she could see clearly exactly where her life should go. Mai gasped and clutched Izzy’s hand. All the information was overwhelming and she just didn’t want to believe that someone had tried to hurt her baby, someone had tried to hurt their family. Kagome could swear that if her mother or Izzy had any forms of power it would be flaring right now. The bond of mother hood and being like sister’s was so strong between the two women. She was just about to say that to the two mothers when Mai cut her off.

“ Kagome, my baby, why would someone want to hurt you?” Mama Higurashi started to cry out of anger, frustration and sadness for her daughter. She needed a moment before she continued to talk. “ We will find them and when we do they will pay for hurting my baby girl.” Her eyes held a look of death and Inuyasha just about shivered at the look it was colder than any look he had ever seen his brother give to their worst enemy. He made a promise to himself that he would never get on Mama Higurashi’s bad side, ever.

“ Mai, we will figure this out and the person responsible will face the harshest punishment that the Superior Council has to offer. I know that’s what Sesshomaru will want.” Izayoi said with conviction, her oldest son was the head of the Council and leader of the Youkai. He may not have birthed Sesshomaru but she treated her like her own and over time he has come to see her more as his mother then his own.

“ Speaking of my brother I should go call him and let him know what’s going on. I am sure he has some people that can do a little digging for us.” Inuyasha gave Kagome’s shoulder a gentle squeeze and a quick peck on the check. She smiled and watched him leave the room.

“ I just don’t know who would want to hurt me or us.” Kagome was just at a loss, she was a kind person so she had no idea why someone would do this.

“ Well, if they were just trying to get at your mother they would have done something more daring and not just to you. They would have included Sota somehow and he’s fine.” Izayoi rubbed her temple, she needed to take some time and discuss some things with her husband. But first she needed more information from Kagome.

“ I couldn’t agree more Izayoi.” Mai nodded her head and took a sip of her coffee.

“ Kagome, when exactly do you remember this feeling starting? I know you and Inuyasha are having a hard time telling us details but we need to know so we can help.” Izzy took her hand from across the table and gave her a gentle smile to encourage her.

“ Well, I don’t know exactly to be honest, it was like one minute me and Koga broke up, the next we were back together and engaged. He then started to get more aggressive, yelling at me for the smallest things, or criticizing me about what I was wearing or who I was with. Then it got worse the fights got more intense and physical and I stopped fighting back. He would say something I didn’t like and instead of defending myself I would say nothing but not because I didn’t want to. It was like I physically couldn’t talk back to him, then when he became physical I tried to leave. Twice I was walking out the door with my bags, then the room would spin and I would black out. I couldn’t leave, I couldn’t speak, I was in hell and there seemed like there was no way out. Last night something just snapped and I was able to take back control of myself. Seeing him cheat on me so blatantly and literally right before we were to wed caused my brain to see clearly. I took my engagement ring off and sent it sailing at his head and I knew then I was breaking free. When Miroku shocked him, I felt it, I shouldn’t have been able to, it should of been impossible for his spiritual powers to hurt me but they did. That moment I knew in my soul something had been done to me or some type of dark magic had been used on me. I may not have trained as long as other Miko’s but my instincts never led me wrong until they were muffled by that spell.” Kagome finished talking and looked up from her coffee to the two women she loved dearest. She couldn’t believe she just shared so much and to see the pain in their eyes just about made her cry but she knew she needed to be strong and show them she was going to be ok.

Inuyasha left the kitchen and went to his bedroom to get his phone to call Sesshomaru. This wasn’t the first time he had suspected something had been going on with Kagome but now he had proof. He and his brother had been doing some research for a while but without knowing what they were dealing with it was too hard to find any information that would point them in the right direction. Inuyasha was grateful for his brother’s help, even if they were only half-brothers that didn’t matter to either of them now. When they were younger they fought like cats and dogs but now that they were older things were different. Over the last ten years they realized that that for their family to continue being strong they needed to get along. He grabbed his phone and hit the speed dial for his brother. It only took two rings before he picked up.

“ Good morning little brother, a bit early isn’t it?” Sesshomaru voice held no emotion as was usual for him. But Inuyasha knew him better than that, he may sound cold but deep inside he cared deeply for his brother.

“ I am sure you heard what happened last night at the wedding by now?” Inuyasha said in a hushed tone as he walked back out of the room to make his way back to the kitchen.

“ Hnn, yes I have.” Sesshomaru responded and waited for his brother to explain what he had learned from his miko.

“ Well last night whatever magic it was that had ahold of Kagome weakened and she broke free. She is of her own free mind and well and I intend to keep it that way.” Inuyasha thought back to the moment he realized something was very wrong with the woman he loved.

“ Inuyasha please go away, I don’t want to see anyone right now.” Kagome shouted through her door. It had been over a month since the kissed they shared and she had no intentions of letting him in.

“ Please, Kags, just open the door for a minute.” He listened and smiled as she finally opened it. She only opened it as far as the chain on the door would let it. But what Inuyasha saw almost made him gasp. The woman that stood in front of him was not the one he had known his whole life, or even the one from 6 weeks ago. She was pale, there were bags under her eyes and her aura seemed faded. What scared him the most was her beautiful chocolate brown eyes had lost their spark.

“ Well?” She questioned him and fiddled with the hem of her shirt.

“ I need you to know that you misunderstood me that morning. I need you to know the truth.” He wanted to say more but she stopped him with a raise of her and that’s when he noticed the ring on her finger. “ Kagome, what have you done?” Inuyasha whispered.

“ I am getting married to Koga, now please leave before he returns and a bigger fights starts.” She almost seemed worried about Koga finding him there, she seemed scared.

“ But Kagome.” His heart was shattering into pieces.

“ I said leave.” She screamed and shut the door.

He knew in that moment that Kagome was not herself and he cursed himself for not staying that moment and explaining everything to her instead of giving her a bit of space. He would get her back, even if after she never wanted to be with him, he would see Kagome return to her normal self.

“ Inuyasha, are you listening to a word I am saying?” Sesshomaru sighed, he knew where his brother’s mind had gone but he didn’t comment on it. It was the same memory every time, the night he found out Kagome was engaged but also the night he realized something awful was happening to her.
“ Ya, sorry, what were you saying?” Inuyasha shook his head to clear it.

“ Miroku filled me in on most of the details, he called me like you asked him to last night. Is there anything else you need to tell me after you two spoke?” Sesshomaru asked, while typing away on his laptop.

“ The engagement ring, she said to me when she took it off it felt like her mind cleared for a moment and then when Miroku slapped the ofuda on Koga, she felt his spiritual powers and she felt totally clear of the fog that had clouded her mind. She shouldn’t have been able to fell Miroku’s power,” Inuyasha pinched the bridge of his nose before he revealed the next part. “ He was physically abusing her Sesshomaru, Kagome told me he had started to throw her around the apartment, into the walls, and into the furniture.” Before he could finish, he heard the growl erupt from his brother.

“ That spineless fool, he will die for his actions against this one’s little sister.” His voice was had deepen and Inuyasha could tell his brother was having trouble controlling himself. Sesshomaru loved Kagome and Sota like siblings, Kagome had won him over the first summer she had come to stay at the cabin with them. She had only been 6 years old, the cabin wasn’t even completely finished at that point, and she missed her mom terribly. One night she walked into Sesshomaru room with a book and asked him to read it to her. He declined and instead of leaving in defeat she had crawled into his lap and with her big brown eyes tearing up she asked him to please read her a story. From that moment on he read to her every night before bed and he promised himself that he would always look after her and her brother like his own family.

“ Yes brother.” Inuyasha growled back as his own demon howled with rage.

“ We will have our revenge little brother, in time that is. For now I will do some searching and talk to a few of my contacts about this new information.”

“ Sesshomaru, I need to tell you something else.” Inuyasha took a breath before telling his brother the news about him and Kagome.

“ And what may that be little brother.” Sesshomaru smirked at the nervousness in his brother voice.

“ Well me and Kagome have entered a mating courtship.” Inuyasha held his breath to see what his brother would say.

“ It’s about time you two were happy Inuyasha, I look forward to officially welcoming Kagome as my sister in law.” Sesshomaru smirked and then smiled as his mate entered his office.

“ Thanks Sesshomaru. Let me know if you find anything, will you and Rin be coming up any time soon?”

“ Yes in a couple days, I will call you with any information I find.” With that Sesshomaru hung up. Inuyasha chuckled a little at his brother’s odd ways. He never did like saying good-bye ever.

Inuyasha came back to the kitchen to find Kagome sitting on the island with a basket in lap. It took him a second to realize that she used her chair to get up there. In her hands was a large cinnamon roll that was covered in Icing. She looked like she was in heaven as she slowly ate it and only looked up when she felt Inuyasha taking the basket and getting his own. Shippo’s mother, Eve, was the best baker in all Japan, at least according to Inuyasha. Inuyasha practically inhaled two cinnamon rolls before Kagome even finished her one. He stood there licking his fingers as Kagome stared at him with a smile.

“ What is it beautiful?” Inuyasha gave her one of his smirks that he only reserved for her. Her heart melted and sped up at the same time.

“ You have icing.” She stopped talking, even as the butterflies in her stomach flutter at him calling her beautiful she decided to do something out of the normal. She leaned forward taking his hand in hers and licked the icing off the finger he was about to lick. He groaned as her tongued swiped across his finger and almost whimpered when she stopped licking. He watched as she licked her lips and slowly moved towards him. He didn’t move, even though he wanted to pull her body to him and crush his lips against hers. He had meant it when he said he would let her take the lead in their relationship. She slowly leaned her head in and licked the icing from his lips and then she smashed her lips against his. Inuyasha was now the one in heaven; he pulled her closer to him and deepened the kissed at the same time. He wanted her to feel his love for her in this kiss. She moaned and wrapped her arms around his neck sinking her fingers into his silky hair. She pulled him closer, she could feel the bulge that was forming in his pants. Heat shot right to core and she felt her need for him building. It wasn’t before long that they both needed to separate for air. They stared into each other’s eyes as they panted.

“ That was just, wow.” She giggled and blushed at the same time.

“ Sure as hell was, that was better than Eve’s cinnamon rolls.” Inuyasha smirked and pulled her from the counter. “ I guess we should get you in some real clothes before we get scolded by the mom’s.”

“ Sure was and I suppose you are right.” Kagome wrapped her arms around his neck and he hoisted her up into his arms. She could really get used to this being catered to business.

“ It would seem mother was not impressed with your outfit this morning.” Inuyasha chuckled as he saw one of his mother dresses, some flip flops, a pair of shorts and a cardigan waiting for Kagome on the bed.

“ It seems she was not.” Kagome smiled as he put her down by the bed.

“ So do you need me to help you undress?” He said giving her a wink.

“ Nope because then we probably wouldn’t leave this room.” Using her hands to shoo him away, he walked away pouting and went into the washroom to go get ready for the day himself.

She picked up the dress, it was a light blue, sweet heart neckline, halted dress with a flowy skirt. She had to appreciate Izayoi tastes in clothes. She hauled off the t-shirt and boxers and put on the spandex shorts and dress. Both were a little snug on her but it was good since she didn’t have any underwear or a bra she could put on. She slipped the cream colored cardigan on and put the flips flops on. She hobbled over to the washroom and went to find a tooth brush. She stood in the door way admiring the man that was now her boyfriend in human terms. He long silver hair was down, he wore a plain black t-shirt and a pair of dark designer jeans. His ears flicked towards her and he turned as he stood at the sink brushing his teeth, he held out a tooth brush so she could do the same. When she was done she grabbed the brush from the night before and brushed her hair out again. When she looked in the mirror she was shocked at the site of her neck, you could clearly see where Koga had grabbed her neck as his hand print was bruised into her neck. It was dark, but once she got her bag she could cover it with some makeup. Even though she was a spiritual healer, her powers had been suppressed by whatever magic they had used on her. She took a second and allowed them to flare and focused on them and she felt so much comfort in knowing they were growing stronger by the hour. Soon she would be back to her full strength.

“ Woah, Kagome you ok?” Inuyasha could feel her powers flare and wondered if she felt something.

“ Oh yes, just getting to know the feel again.” She smiled at him and took his hand. She limped slowly out of the room with him by her side. Inuyasha wanted to question her more but felt she need some time in her head so he left her be for now.

At one point during the morning Shippo’s sister MaiKa dropped by to check Kagome’s ankle. She confirmed what Inuyasha thought and said if she stayed off it for a few days and rested it she should be fine. She showed Inuyasha how to wrap and was off again since she was on her work practicum, which meant she was working in the local hospital 30 minutes away. Kagome thank the woman who was almost the spitting imagine of her brother except her eyes were a deep shade of blue and in the right light almost looked like they were dancing with fire. Inuyasha walked the MaiKa to the door and went back to his future mate. They had lunch with their mother’s and the conversation was pleasant and kept away from anything about what happened. Kagome and Inuyasha were now snuggled up on the couch watching a movie when their friends walked through the door.

“ Hm, I see why you didn’t want us to be here sooner Inuyasha.” Miroku teased as he and Sango came into the room.

“ Shut it monk.” Inuyasha growled sitting up and pulling Kagome into his lap in the process so she wouldn’t try to get up, and hug their friends for she would end putting strain on her ankle. Sango notice Kagome’s wrapped ankle and the awful bruising on her neck.

“ Kagome are you ok?” Sango asked her friend while bending down to give her a tight hug. “ How did you hurt your ankle?” Sango sat down on the love seat and Miroku joined his fiancé. Sango was such a beautiful woman, she had her long brown hair pulled up into her signature high pony tail, her bangs were braided and tucked to the side with a pin. She wore very little makeup, some blush on her high cheek bones and some clear lip gloss. She was slightly taller than Kagome and a little more slender but she still filled out her sweater and skinny jeans well. Her fiancé, Miroku was around 5’11 and was slender but was well toned thanks to his days of working on the shrine and training. His black hair was pulled back into a short ponytail at the base of his neck and his deep violet eyes never left Inuyasha’s as he gave him a knowing grin. He was also dressed casual in jeans and a purple t-shirt.

“ It’s just a sprain. As soon as Shippo and Abby get here we will talk. Thank you for taking care of my family last night.” Kagome smiled at her friends. They made such a good couple, Miroku was a obnoxious flirt and was always joking, while Sango was serious and quiet. They balanced each other really well; it took them a while to realize their feelings for each other. Sango couldn’t get past Miroku’s flirting with anything in a skirt but once they got past that obstacle and started dating it was long before they got engaged.

“ It was nothing Kagome, honestly not much happened after you left. Koga disappeared and his family couldn’t find him. Your mother’s body guards got her, Sota and Grandpa out so we grabbed our stuff and you bag and left ourselves. Oh your bag it’s out in the front hall, I also went to your apartment and got you some extra clothes, laptop and a few other essentials.” Sango explain as she tried not to look at the awful bruise on her friend’s neck. Friend wasn’t the right word, sister fit better for them and she knew the next few weeks were going to be extremely emotional and difficult but they would be there to support her and Inuyasha.

“ Still thank you for everything.” Kagome snuggled closer to Inuyasha and smiled. This was how she pictured her life and now she would have it.

“ So Inuyasha I hope you don’t mind but Sango and myself took the liberty of taking some time off work to stay with you guys for the next couple of weeks. Until we know exactly what Koga is capable of I think its best we all stay together.” Miroku’s expression was as serious as she has ever seen it be.

“ I agree, and there is plenty of room here anyway. We will get you guy set up in your usual room after.” Inuyasha nodded and one ear twitched in the direction of the side door. “ Shippo and Abigail are here.”

A minute later Shippo and Abigail walked into the room hand in hand. Shippo’s 4 tails swung behind him, he wore causal clothes and his bright red hair was pulled back into a pony tail with the sides of his head shaved. His emerald eyes danced with their usual mischief. Abigail was a stunner, her skin had a sun kissed glow to it that contrasted Shippo’s pale skin well, she was built like a little dancer with long slender legs and her long blond curly hair bounced behind her. But what made her stunning to Kagome was her innocent and caring soul. You could see how much she loved Shippo and she proved that love by moving from the states to Japan leaving her big family to be with Shippo.

“ Kagome, it’s been far too long my beautiful friend.” Abigail skipped across the room and gave Kagome a big hug; she reminded Kagome more of a fairy then a Kitsune at times.

“ Too long Abby, and Shippo aren’t you going to come give me a hug?” She smiled as Shippo fidgeted and look at Inuyasha for permission. To a demon it was easy to see their auras blending into each.

“ It’s ok Shippo.” Inuyasha rolled his eyes but appreciated the gesture. Shippo crossed the room and hugged his lifelong friend before sitting on the floor with his future mate.

“ Uh what was that about?” Sango asked before looked to Miroku who now had a look of surprise on his face.

“ Sango dear was our friends have failed to tell us yet is that they are going to be mates. Their auras are starting to blend I surprised I never noticed as I walked in.” Miroku had the biggest grin on his face.

“ Thanks Miroku, I was looking forward to explaining a little better than that.” Kagome shot a playfully dirty look at him but continued speaking. “ Sango before you say anything there are some things you need to know. We are in a courtship, which as you know is just like dating but with a more serious commitment. To be honest if I hadn’t ended up back with Koga after me and Inuyasha kissed last year we would probably be mates and planning a wedding for ourselves right now.” Kagome looked at her best friend and hope she would understand that Inuyasha was not taking advantage.

“ So why did you go back? Why did you plan to marry him?” Sango was happy for her sister and Inuyasha but she needed more answers to her questions.

“ Well after the misunderstanding with Inuyasha last year I had a visit with Koga, during that visit he gave me the engagement ring. At that point I wasn’t going to take him back ever but he convinced me to take the ring as a parting gift. I was curious about the ring and tried it on and the instant I did I felt different and the longer I wore it the more my world seemed to fog. I knew in my heart and soul I was making the wrong decisions but I couldn’t for the life of me do anything about it. When I saw him cheating on me right before we were about to take vows something in me snap, for a moment I could see clearly through the haze. I tore the ring off my finger and whipped it at Koga face. Then when Miroku slapped that ofuda on him it had hurt me but I was free, free of whatever spell or curse that had been used on me.” Kagome smiled at Inuyasha. “ Free to start to following the path I was supposed to follow in the first place.”

“ I called Sesshomaru this morning after I spoke with Kagome, someone is after her and we believe they are were using Koga as pawn. The ring was suppressing her powers and her ability to think for herself. Until we figure out exactly who the person is that is pulling the strings and why they want her we need be diligent in protecting ourselves against their mind control.” Inuyasha gave his friends a hard serious look. He was going to do anything in his power to save the love of his life and he hoped that Sesshomaru would have some more information for them when he and Rin got here.

“ Oh Kagome.” Sango sniffed as a tear rolled down her cheek. “ I am here, we will figure this out together ok.” Sango didn’t know what else to say, she was shocked. She didn’t realized how much danger Kagome had truly been in. It shook her to her core and she let another tear fall. Miroku wiped her tears away. His hand shook and the two fox demons aura shimmer and flared with anger.

A/n This chapter is a bit longer than the last two and I think I am going to try and keep them this length for now on or at least close to it. I know Zenaku Onigumo Yamada is a twisted messed up character but for this fan fic I need a villain that can insight fear and he is the darkest of all monsters. Don’t worry though there is lots of fluff, love and laughs ahead to cleanse the soul of his messed up part!!
