A/N
The queen Kimiko is very wise and seasoned because of this she speaks in Japanese proverbs so does the Emperor in the future. I will explain each proverb at the end of the fic Im working on creating a glossary page The emperor doesnt attend petty ceremonies like the tea ceremony however the new prospects must attend ...(this is the Queens way of narrowing down the prospects) Not everyone gets to make it in after all.

"Joō ga hairu"! Bankutso the head attendant chanted loudly as he entered the grand imperial hall.
The hall was decorated with the finest of silk with the Imperial house colours red ,silver ,black and purple.Green jade cups were situated in trays with gold and silver trimming , large silver and gold pillows were placed at the feet of the jade tables .Ikebanas of the highest degree were centered at each concubines station.
"How delightful"",Kimiko exclaimed as she entered into the hall . Her voice rang a melodic tone as she graced the audience of concubines ,attendants ,enuchs maids and guards with her presence.
She was fashioned in a kimono bore that the imperial house colours silver,red purple and black with gold trimming on each sleeves .Her silvery white hair was neatly intricated in a large braided pattern situated on top of her head. Her golden crown was adorned with a silver cresent moon, it sparkled under the scented candle light stationed above the hall walls.Her claws were neatly carved with silver gems ,her eyes lids were painted with soft golden pencil it accentuated her almond shaped golden eyes.
"I see this time you did not dissappoint me Kaede" Kimiko sang softly. Acknoweledging the imperial maid hard and yet handy work. "The palace grand halls had never been this detailed. But I would expect no less from you-- you served me for so long you know my expectations"
"Gomen nasai Queen Kimiko". Kaede interrupted softly. " I cannot take ye credit this time. It was actually court lady Sango-chan whom have made the preparations. She wanted to make up for her greviances the last time. I hope ye will not hold it against her." Kaede added hoping to redeem the court ladies name--for the sake of her own wellbeing in the palace.
"Joo kimiko she is but a child and even--" Kaede was suddenly interrupted by the 2nd Prince's concubine Kikyo. The one who had received the offense first hand. She was not pleased with the lolwly maid's intercession for the rude servant.
"A child". Kikyo the Royal concubine snapped brushing pass the imperial servant. She cautiously approached Kimiko with a low bow before procceeding with her oen objection.
"Gomen naisai your Grace Joo Kimiko but as the Royal concubine to 2nd Prince I fail to see how she is still alive. To serve his highness is the highest form of honour that I can bestow to his majesty . That court servant dishonoured me by calling me a whore. When I met his highness I was pure Ive known no other man how can you allow such injustice on my behalf. Calling me a whore is an insult to the harem and what it stands for. You know if it was Crown prince surly you would have upheld justice!" Kikyo argued angrily . She flicked a silver fan irritabily and waited on what she thought would be a punishment for the servants imprudence.
"The Crown prince would have upheld his own Justice!" Kimiko stated proudly eyeing the human wearily before her. The empress was very proud of her eldest and only son. He would have taken matters into his hands if he ever felt that his property was being frowned upon.
Unfortunately the half breed did not have the back bone, he didnt deserve the title 2nd Prince in her opinion. However she had failed to conceive over the past decades so he unfortunately was given the oppourtunity.
"Royal concubine perhaps it is not court lady Sango you should be infuriated with." Kimiko replied cunningly.Kimiko wasnt particulary fond of the human concubine she was overly pampered and a bit arrogant for her liking but seeing as she had served Inuyasha for half a decade it was someone she had to get use to.
"Queen Kimiko..I..I didnt mean it in that way" Kikyo exclaimed flustered "I would never doubt the 2nd Prince's judgement. If he decided upon sparing her then he must know of her value in the palace."
"And ,I would appreicate if we can refrain from using the Crown prince in our anologies. I cant just behead a court lady because of one tongue slip up. If 2nd Prince felt wrongly about it he could have voiced his own notion but he didnt.Perhaps its his compassion for humans he after all shares the same trait." Kimiko spat purpousely.
She had meant it as an insult however the concubine did not regard it. Seeing her ignorance upon her intent she chatised wisely. Inuyasha realizes-- Saru mo ki kara ochiru-- "Even monkeys can fall from trees Kikyo."
"Joo Kimiko is wise beyond her years". Kikyo voiced softly. She felt slightly embarassed that she had bodly defended her companion in front of the large audience. Bowing slightly she slowly retreating to her seat. She would have her revenge her way when the time came.
"Well then is there anything else" Kimkio asked slightly irritated .She scanned the hall searching for any sign of interference within the other concubines . Seeing none she turned to Kaede with excitment.
"Now where are they? Where are the new Imperials prospects?" Turning towards the imperial maid . She flicked her gold fan as an indiciation for her to escort them in
"I --I will retreive them at once" Kaede stuttered before swiftly exiting towards the imperial halls and towards the holding station.

"Again"--!
Sango ordered wearily   insoecting each imperial prospects as they all walked around her chanting the Imperial Concubines precept.
"An ignorant woman is a virtuous one" they all chanted in union turning slightly and bowing before the court lady.
"Kagome-sama please pay your respects to Joo ", Sango declared exasperately. This was the hardest prospect the servant had ever dealt with. Not only was she rough around the edges but she lacked apparent ethusiasm. Something she knew the youkais will pick up on.
Noticing the girls apprehension she gently coaxed. "This is your last chance with me before you have to formally greet her. Please pretend if you must but make it count".
Kagome fought the urge to retort at the voices and snickers behind her.It was true she was the only human present in harem prospects though she didnt understand how.  Didnt father say that most of the village men submitted their daughters name at the Imperial hall? Are the Gods truly playing a joke with me ?
Interrupting her out of her thoughts Sango again declared loudly "Please pay your respects to Joo Kimiko .Kaede sempai awaits at the door"! "
"Oh Hai Gomen-naisai, court lady Sango,." Kagome exclaimed before gracefully approaching Sango ;
"Kagome Higurashi ....pays her repect to Joo Kimiko,
Ten no Inu Taisho in his absence and his Highnesses,
May all fortune and good health come to you
An ignorant woman is a virtuous one"
Kagome lifted her head softly at the clapping sound of Sangos approval.
"Hai ,Hai great" Sango remarked with an applaud ."Finally with some finess. Now off you all go.  Remember everybody eyes low--heads bowed,hands clasp" Sango chanted shooing the woman towards the exit and trailing behind Kaede to the grand hall.
Kagome walked swiftly with apprehension behind Kaede's lead .Slippers clicking-- hands sweaty but clasped-eyes low and arms firmly aligned at the front of her waist--she entered into the Sado tea ceremony
