"Oh, thank goodness you're okay Kagome!" Sango cried out as she pulled her friend into an embrace. She whispered so only Kagome could hear, "He didn't…did he?"
Kagome pulled from Sango's arms and gave her a reassuring smile as she shook her head. Sango's athletic frame completely relaxed as she sighed in relief. Shippo was next in line and threw himself into Kagome's arms.
"Kagome! Kagome! Are you hurt?"
"No, Shippo, just a few scratches."
"Curse that Naraku, I hope Inuyasha and Sesshomaru kill him!"
"As we all do Shippo," Miroku said with a smile. It was a surprise he didn't take the opportunity to leer at Kagome considering her state of undress. However, with the possibilities of what could have happened to her, she figured he wouldn't.
The others expressed to Kagome how happy they were she was okay and she took it in kind, beginning to worry about the brother's whereabouts with her kidnapper. As if he read her mind, her uncle's voice slid through her mind a second time that night. 'Come quickly Kagome if you can. I need you with Inuyasha.'
'What's wrong with Inuyasha?!' She jumped up in a panic, clutching Sesshomaru's hankimono to her body as she quickly tied it shut.
'Naraku got away; badly injured. However, Inuyasha is in his demonic state right now and won't snap out of it. He's attacking his brother.'
"What is it Kagome?" Harry asked her, noticing the alarm on her face.
"Inuyasha. He's in demon form and attacking Sesshomaru!" She used her demonic speed to catch up with where her uncle was located; back outside on the school grounds. Luckily the sky was dark enough that no one from the castle would see what was happening outside.
Kagome's eyes caught the two blurring figures a little farther off, just as the others caught up to her. Inuyasha was quick with his slashes and charging attacks, but Sesshomaru was quicker, dodging every blow that his brother threw at him.
"Sesshomaru doesn't seem to be fighting back," Miroku commented.
"So it seems. My guess is that he doesn't want to fight Inuyasha without him being in full control of his actions." Sango stepped up to Miroku's side. "Kagome what are you goin-Kagome!"
But Kagome was already running towards the two brothers.
"You're going to get hurt Kagome!" Miroku shouted after her.
Kagome didn't pay them any mind, in fact, she was solely concentrated on the task ahead-stopping Inuyasha. Within seconds she was between them and waited what came next. She had an inkling that her usual "sit" command wouldn't work, but she knew she had to do something before Sesshomaru grew tired of just dodging, and inflicted damage on the hanyou. Everything was happening so fast, but she felt as if it were going in slow motion. As she placed herself between the silver-haired demons, she registered a look of shock on Sesshomaru's face-an emotion she never thought she would see coming from him. She was discovering a bunch of things about the full demon she never knew until recently. She had more important matters to attend to before she analyzed this new Sesshomaru, and turned herself quickly to face her red-clad companion.
Everything was happening too fast. Even if Inuyasha would have realized what he was about to do, even if he would have snapped out of his demonic state, he wouldn't have been able to stop his attack in time. The slashing blow of his claws that was previously meant for Sesshomaru came arcing down onto Kagome, cutting her chest open like it was softened butter. There were cries everywhere, from her friends a distance away, and from herself. The blow had staggered her backward, but she blinked back the tears of pain to look into Inuyasha's reddened gaze. Her cry of pain, more so than the others, had made him hesitate. Kagome took the opportunity to take a shaken step towards him and ignoring the pain-ignoring the blood flowing from her wounds-she slowly and painfully, raised her hands up to touch his face.
"Inuyasha…come back to us. Come back to me." She barely whispered it but knew he could hear her.
He snarled and grabbed her wrists roughly, his claws piercing her flesh there as well, just not as deeply.
She began to feel dizzy from the blood loss and knew her senses were also diminishing because she could hardly make out the quick approach of the rest of her companions. She hoped they would stay away just a few moments more. She was sure she could bring Inuyasha back as she always had before. "Inuyasha…please come back. Back to me. I-I need you." That slight waiver was the only weakness she let leak through.
His growling became less prominent, his grip on her fell, and the red began to fade from his vision. His eyes closed briefly, and when they re-opened he was good as new. "Ka-Kagome?" There was a question in his voice like he didn't fully realize what he had done. Then again, he didn't even look down, and when he did, his voice grew panicked. "Ka-Kagome!?"
She felt so relieved to seem him normal again that she gave him a small smile. "T-There you are Inuyasha." A sigh escaped here lips as her eyes closed and she began to fall backward.
Alarmed, Inuyasha went to catch her and was surprised when another set of arms got to her before he did. He was even more surprised to see that they belonged to his brother. A protest was on the forefront of his lips when Sesshomaru shot him a stealthy glare. "I think you've done enough to the girl." Inuyasha actually took a step back in shock, and his mouth hung open as he watched him carry her away. Harry, Ron, and Hermione ran after him, shooting glares at Inuyasha. Sango, Shippo, Kirara, and Tamaki weren't too far behind, though they didn't glare daggers at the hanyou.
A hand belonging to a certain monk pressed on Inuyasha's shoulder. "Come on Inuyasha, let's go. We know you didn't realize what you were doing, and it was pretty much inevitable if you did. I know, and so do the others, that Kagome won't blame you once she's alright. Right now she needs you by her side for when she wakes up. Come." He followed after everyone else.
Inside the castle, everyone sort of formed a circle around Sesshomaru as they walked through the halls back towards Kagome's living space. Tamaki was in the lead to ward off any onlookers attention, telling them to hurry along to breakfast. Inuyasha was tagging along in the back of the group and was growing into a very foul mood. He snarled at those who didn't heed Tamaki's warning and continued to stand in the halls to gawk. Those who hadn't made it in the Great Hall yet certainly couldn't help themselves from staring. While Kagome was obscured from view, the very tall and brooding full demon was not and many speculated on his appearance. Whispers abounded, stares ensued. The tall, brooding demon in question kept his ever stoic expression as he looked ahead, ignoring everyone else but the weight of the girl in his arms.
