Chapter Thirty-Seven—An Interlude
"Kagome-sama?"
The whisper came with a gentle shake, and Kagome briefly entertained the idea of shoving Yun-Qi away. Instead, she rolled until she could see him, a blob of color amidst the blurred backdrop of her room. "Mhmm…?"
"Kagome-sama, Lord Sesshomaru has called for you. Come."
She had hardly processed his words before he was folding her blankets away, and while she shivered sleepily in the chill air, he helped her sit up, and then stand, wrapping her in a warm, fur-lined robe. Absently, she thought that the robe must have cost Lord Sesshomaru quite a bit of coin, and then Yun-Qi was gripping her elbow and she was concentrating on walking without stumbling over her feet.
So sleepy that not even the cold, early morning air could jar her out of her drowsiness, Kagome followed obediently where Yun-Qi led, and the transfer from servant to lord was taken in stride.
She had no protests when Sesshomaru steered her firmly into his bedroom, nor when he stripped her of her robe and helped her onto the comfort of his massive futon. Even when he crawled in beside her and drew her close to his chest, she couldn't quite muster the gumption to ask what he wanted, nor to apologize for her inattentive behavior.
A low, rumbling growl vibrated against her back, and Kagome drifted off.

Sesshomaru woke with the dawn, as he always did; Kagome huddled against his chest with her head beneath his chin, her breath fanning at his collarbones. For a moment, he languished in the sleep-warm softness of her skin, and then lowered his nose to her temple and breathed in the scent of her monthly heat, heady and thick.
In his loins, arousal stirred, and he brought the hand splayed against her back upward to cradle her head, combing his claws through her hair until she shifted, one arm lifting to wrap around his neck. "G'morning, Se'shmaru-sama," she mumbled, voice thick with sleep.
He rumbled a greeting in response, dropping his arm to her waist and tugging her close until his fully awakened manhood was trapped between them. She shivered, the fingers against the back of his neck pressing fleetingly into his skin, and then he felt her lips against his throat and the underside of his jaw. Pleasure swept like wildfire through him, and he drew in a deep breath as she slowly pulled her fingers out of his hair and brushed them against his shoulder and chest, the coolness of her reiki chasing fire with ice.
It was his turn to shiver now, and she pulled back to look at him, blue eyes wide and questioning.
He leaned forward and pressed his lips to hers.
Her kisses were always soft and sweet and incredibly arousing, and the thought that he could hurt her, that she could cut herself on his fangs only made the experience that much more enticing; she whimpered, and he tugged her closer, pressing one knee between her legs.
The junction of her thighs was hot, and she jumped when he lifted his leg higher and touched his thigh to her womanhood. Growling into her mouth, he closed his hand around her hip and prevented her from shying away, instead nudging her until she moved in a direct parody of what he would soon be doing to her. Their lips parted.
Her eyes were dark, her mouth swollen and red, and with her womanhood gliding slickly against his skin, Sesshomaru thought that she was the most alluring creature he had ever seen; bending, he kissed her again.
"Beautiful, little miko," he whispered against her mouth, the puffs of her shortening breaths blowing against his lips. "That's it...good girl." He shifted until he could hover over her, and the way she writhed beneath him, eyes locked on his face, tightened his loins until he ached; gritting his teeth, he applied more pressure to her heat and growled down at her.
And suddenly, she gasped, and her eyes slammed shut, a guttural groan sounding from her throat. She trembled against him, and the warm collection of her essence against his thigh sent the scent of her ripeness swirling around his head.
Dropping his head to her shoulder, he licked at her sweaty skin, salt and purity bursting across his tongue. Her breath shuddered in his ear, and he stroked her hip with one hand, resting his weight onto his opposite forearm as he pushed both knees between her shaking legs.
"Beautiful," he murmured again, positioning himself at her quivering entrance. Having already decided that he would stretch the limits of her endurance--the addictive odor of her heat made it an easy decision--he pressed into her without warning, grunting as she whimpered and the wet walls of her sheath clamped down against him like a fist.
"S-Sesshomaru-sama...I...I--"
But he moved, and whatever she was going to say disappeared behind a low whine, her eyes fluttering shut and the fingers closed around his shoulders tightening until he heard the bones in them creak with the strain.
Teasingly, torturously, he pulled out until only the tip of him remained, and then he waited until she opened her eyes to look at him; framing her face in his hands, he sank in again, and the way she moaned nearly snapped his control. Gritting his teeth, he held himself inside of her for a moment before moving once more, and when the rhythm was set, he dropped his head onto her shoulder and closed his eyes.
For quite some time, he forced himself to be deliberate with her, forced himself to savor each flutter of her womanhood, each spasm of her thighs against his hips and her fingers against his shoulders. It was a pace he wouldn't have tired of if she hadn't released again, groaning into his ear and digging her nails into his shoulders.
The pain, the sensation of her slick walls fluttering wildly around him, spurred him into a frenzy, and he drove into her with abandon, her cries ringing sweetly in his ears. Again, to his surprise, she flew apart in his arms, and it was this release that catapulted him forcefully over the edge; gritting his teeth, he snapped his hips close and spilled inside of her, growling against her shoulder.
The world dissolved into roaring sounds and intense sensation, and when he could think clearly again, there was sweat prickling at the small of his back. Ignoring the cooling sensation, Sesshomaru withdrew from Kagome's warmth, curling around her back and drawing her close. She mumbled something, and was asleep before she'd finished.
Lightly, he traced the curve of her shoulder with a claw, and settled down to wait.

Kagome woke to the touch of something soft against her hip, a cool brush of silk before a warmer flutter of softness. Humming, she opened her eyes, blinking blearily at the rafters of Lord Sesshomaru's ceiling before lifting her head. Her breath caught.
Lying with one arm thrown across her knees, the inuyoukai had slid down until his head rested at her hip, and laying on her back as she was, she was acutely aware of where his molten eyes were looking. Despite having been in his bed numerous times, Kagome felt a flush spread across her cheeks, and she slid a hand down until she'd covered herself, shyly averting her eyes from him when he looked up at her.
She didn't look back at him until she felt his gaze move away from her face, and when she did, he kissed at her hip again, flicking his tongue lightly against her skin. She shivered.
Something in her wondered if she should protest, if she should demand that he move away from such a private place, but his lips touched her skin again, and the tingles that spread along her skin fluttered into her throat and jumbled her words until she could only whimper.
Gently, and with gradual pressure, Sesshomaru brushed his lips from her hip to her inner thigh, ending with a firm kiss on skin that she hadn’t known was so sensitive; involuntarily, she shivered, and when the inu nudged her hand away, she moved it before she could think better of it.
Immediately, she blushed, but clenched her hands at her sides instead of reaching to cover herself—rumbling a pleasing sound, the inuyoukai lifted his torso, bending over her closed legs to rain kisses against her thighs. His hair drifted over her, adding sensation to the already strong feeling of his mouth and tongue and fangs brushing in heated caresses over her trembling skin.
By the time he shifted to lay between her legs, forcing her knees wide in the process, she could feel the slickness of her arousal trickling between her rear, and she caught her breath as the beautiful youkai brought his nose close to her most private place. He inhaled deeply, and made a grumbling sound on the exhale, almost a groan of something that sounded surprisingly close to longing.
Her blush flamed down her neck and chest, and she whimpered when he licked her inner thigh, the smooth glide of his tongue coming within inches of the pulsing folds of her womanhood. Gently, he grasped her thighs and pushed them wider, and the warm roll of his breath over her wetness spurred her heart into a quick beat.
Pausing, the inu looked up at her, and seeing him that way, eyes gazing softly at her over the curls of her sex, Kagome found that telling him no wasn’t an option. Slowly, nervously, she relaxed, and Sesshomaru pressed a kiss against the back of her leg; a kiss that meandered down to her folds and ended right atop the straining nubbin of nerves above her opening. She jumped.
He started slowly, kissing the swollen flesh as though it were her mouth, tongue peeking from between his lips in staggered intervals. Mindful of the careful way the pads of his fingers pressed into her thighs, Kagome made a valiant effort to remain as motionless as possible, though her belly jerked each time he touched the overly-sensitive bundle of nerves.
When he closed his lips around it and suckled it as he would her breast, she couldn’t stop the moan that dragged out of her throat, and she arched her hips, thoughts becoming increasingly foggy as he swirled his tongue in maddening little circles over her skin.
The coil in her belly wrapped tighter, the wet warmth of his mouth and occasional feather-light scrape of his fangs sending pleasure shooting through her; pleasure so intense that her fingers tightened painfully around the silk sheets below her.
He growled as her womanhood clenched, and she gasped loudly when his tongue dipped into her entrance, sliding sensuously along her inner walls.
“S-Sesshomaru-sama...!”
The sound of his name only seemed to spur him further, and he pulled her tighter against him, his growls coming more pronounced as her control over her body slipped away and she writhed beneath his ministrations.
He had only to draw her pearl into his mouth once more for the coil in her belly to break, and she wailed her release, clutching at the sheets so tightly that she could feel her nails digging into her palms. Between her legs, Sesshomaru groaned, lapping at her spasming folds as she shook and gasped, fingers tightening around her thighs until his claws scraped at her skin.
She had no true time to recover before he was kissing her again, the taste of her—musky and bitter and a little sweet—coating his tongue. She was still shaking when he turned her onto her side, pushing her knees close to her chest and kneeling behind her, the heavy heat of his manhood probing at her still-quivering opening.
Holding himself above her, he eased inside, and the position lent her a tightness that even she could feel; grasping at her hip and planting his fist onto the futon behind her shoulders, Sesshomaru kissed her hard and deep, hips flexing against her rear.
“P-please, Sesshomaru-sama,” she begged, feeling her cheeks heat at the wanton sound of her voice.
The hand on her hip slid up to the breast that wasn’t pressed against the futon, and she arched her back as best she could in her position, rubbing her pebbled nipple against his warm palm. Down below, her sheath clenched again, and with a groan that got lost in the heat of their mouths, Sesshomaru began to move.
Sooner than she thought possible, her arousal rose again, and her breath hitched as the inu grasped her hip once more, nearly tugging her down to meet each of his mind-numbing thrusts. She felt like her heart would burst any second, and as she struggled to get breath through her tight throat, she looked up at her lover and thought that he was the most beautiful man in all of Nippon.
Appreciation and excitement melded in her belly, and eager to somehow show what she felt, she reached up and laid one palm against the sweat-slicked planes of the inuyoukai’s chest. Their gazes caught and held, and for a long, breathless moment, Kagome hung on the edge of bliss, teetering just on the cusp of her release.
And then Lord Sesshomaru changed his angle, shifted his hips, and stars burst into life at the edges of her vision. She threw her head back against the futon and gave herself over to sensation.

She tightened so much that it was almost hard to move, and as she curled in on herself, the tendons in her throat straining as her muscles locked and released in quick bursts of movement, Sesshomaru noted with an immense wave of satisfaction that her essence spurted out of her in sweet-smelling bursts of liquid, hot against his thighs. She wailed his name over and over again, and when she still had not calmed, bit harshly at her knuckle, eyes screwed shut and thighs trembling as though he were physically shaking her.
His own release was wrenched out of him as she climaxed again before her last had finished, and with her rippling sheath pulling his seed out of him as though her body needed it to survive, Sesshomaru wasn’t ashamed of the low-pitched whine that rose out of his throat.
Absently, he realized that he had pierced the skin of her hip with his claws, but the minor wound was not important enough to worry about; instead, he leaned over her curled body and nuzzled her shoulder, the curve of her throat, the supple roundness of her delicate ear, and whispered “Mine,” into its shell.
He feathered kisses against her cheek and temple until she rolled partially onto her back, their lower halves still connected and trembling. The kiss was lazy, slow, and by the time they parted, there was a softly heated plea in her eyes again, and Sesshomaru was all too happy to oblige.
