Hard Choices

I had to make a decision
One that would change my life
Running a plan of precision
That would not leave me in strife
Poking and prodding my brain
I cope with the total inspection

To gain something that we fully desired

Sesshoumaru looked at the three Lords that stood around him seeming confused and a little bit frustrated. The laws were going to be changed concerning humans although hanyous were still off limits unless they too started to become a problem.

“So you see we will start a war with these two human kingdoms except we will not be fighting. They will fight each other. We also will not be saving them from bandits. There are plenty of them to take care of their own bandit problems.’
“It is either this or we start killing them ourselves. I personally do not want to be a part of such slaughter since Inuyasha will have a fit if he even suspects I am going to cull the humans down to a manageable size.”

Lord Ken frowned, but thought about this idea. It wasn’t really a bad plan, it just meant that one of them would have to send some expendable demons out and cause chaos to erupt then blame it on the other city’s Lord.

Shippo and Kouga stood back feeling rather irritated that this even had to be done since both of them had promised Kagome that they would not harm humans.

“I don’t know if I like this plan. It seems to be against the laws we set up.”

Shippo stated softly knowing if he sent any fox demons out to randomly attack villages that he may end up losing the trust of the humans that he did rule over.

“Shippo, you will have just a few of your foxes disguise themselves as humans to deliver out the propaganda. You are not going to be directly involved in the battle. We are allowing these humans to fight amongst each other. It is just a matter of time before this would happen anyway.’
“We demons are not killing humans this time. We are allowing the humans to fight against each other like they always do. This peace has to end amongst them at some point. We have too many of them taking over areas of land that we use for our hunting ground. They are pushing out the natural predators and balance in this country is becoming a problem. We can’t allow humans to outnumber us.”

Shippo frowned.

“But you want us to also stop helping them against bandits and part of the reason I have peace in my lands is because we removed that threat. I have personally promised the people of my lands that I would protect them. I can’t just go back on my word.”

Kouga didn’t like the thought of raiding their farmlands and killing off their food supply. It would indeed bring in more food for his people, but then his wolves would be considered fair game for their hunters. This plan was not a safe one for his people.

“My concern is for my wolves. Sending them out to these villages to slaughter their livestock will eventually bring the humans to my lands where we have had peace lately. Humans normally don’t come to us, but they are getting braver and smarter as the years have passed. Not that long ago I lost three wolves to human hunters who killed them for their fur. We took care of that problem quickly, but this just means they will start coming in droves to kill us off. I have to think of my people too ya know.”

Sesshoumaru sighed. This was not working out like he had planned.

“Kouga, don’t worry about your wolves. You won’t need to use them for this. I should have enough fire canines to do the job as well as set their crops on fire if necessary. Right now all we need to do is focus on starting the war itself. Once we get the war started and these humans will be too busy killing each other to notice my demons attacking their livestock. We can even perhaps send some your way Kouga.”

Ken stated since he was ready for the humans to be decimated in his lands. He just did not have plans to do this because of Sesshoumaru’s law. Now that the Inu No Tashio was on his side he would be more than happy to assist in removing the problem and perhaps he could even keep one of the lands he was thinking of selling.

Sesshoumaru and the others looked at Shippo.

“We need your cooperation in this Shippo. Your people are the only ones who can pass themselves off as humans. I know this is hard for you, but we really need your assistance.”

Sesshoumaru stated and Shippo sighed.

“Fine, but if this turns on us you better be able to have a plan B ready since I don’t want my fox demons killed. My people are not expendable.”

Sesshoumaru smiled at the fox demon. He was proud of the boy and pats him on the back.

“I will insure your people remain safe Shippo. You have my word on that. Just stay away from the priests and priestesses.”

Shippo nodded.

Everyone swore themselves to secrecy before they talked about other business such as taxes and so forth.

Inuyasha immediately had the food he ordered brought into the room where the tiger demons were. The smell of chicken Ramen noodle soup made Inuyasha smile as the bowls were set out for each of them, after all of the tigers retained their humanoid forms.

Amare could feel the heat coming off of this soup and poked at the broth until Inuyasha showed them how to eat with the chopsticks.

“The chief here sure knows how to cook.”

Inuyasha stated as he gripped several of the long noodles pulling them up to his lips as he blew on them to cool them a bit before biting.

The tiger demons followed Inuyasha’s movements and then ate these strange but good things

Adofo was having the most difficulty, but Inuyasha assisted the cub and soon everyone was enjoying the soup.

The doors were opened again by Thoren who had just come back from grazing.

“Inuyasha, what are you doing here with these cat demons?”

Thoren stated irritably knowing that this was the last place in the world that Inuyasha should be.

“Oh, Thoren. These are my new friends. They are looking for a home away from humans, but I think that they would do best either here or in the Northeast Mountains where there are few humans.”

Inuyasha introduced Thoren to everyone and explained their situation.

“I have to agree with you Inuyasha. They would be best off as guards here or they should find shelter in Lord Kouga’s territory in the Northeast Mountain Range. There should also be plenty of food there since now Kouga’s tribe can hunt in the Western Lands. There is no real reason that with a treaty we could do the same for all of you.”

Thoren stated as he settled down on one of the cushions observing the tigers as they ate the Ramen.

Amare could feel the tension in the room finally relax as everyone settled into the pillows that were littered across the room.

Inuyasha explained the rules of the castle to Amare while Thoren listened quietly. Thoren was amazed that the tigers did not consider him to be prey since he was a unicorn demon. Most predators like these usually saw unicorns as food so Thoren was still a bit nervous around them.

Soon as everyone was done eating, Inuyasha had the servants take care of the empty dishes.

“So do you think that you could handle being a servant in this castle?”

Inuyasha asked Amare who contemplated what he was told.

“I don’t see it as a problem. I think that if your Lord husband agrees to keep us as guards or servants we can do our best to fit into the lifestyle you have here unless Lord Kouga changes his mind on our staying within his territories.”

Inuyasha smiled.

“Well I would rather have you guys here than have you deal with the idiot wolf. I still can’t believe he wouldn’t let you guys stay in that small portion of land since there are few humans that would bother you there, but Kouga is a moron and I doubt you want to get moronaphobia from him so I will petition Sesshoumaru to keep you guys here.”

Amare tipped his head to the side.

“What is moronaphobia?”

Thoren couldn’t help giggling a bit.

“It means if you hang out with the wolves too long they will rub their stupidity on you. You don’t want to be an idiot like him with no brain do ya?”

Amare smiled in understanding.

“No, I do not wish to be an idiot.”

Inuyasha smiled.

“Well then it is settled. You will remain here and I think I know a way that Thoren and I could convince Sesshoumaru to allow you to stay.”

Inuyasha stated to Thoren with a wink.

“You’re going to refuse to have sex with our Alpha mate again aren’t you Inuyasha.”

Thoren stated rolling his eyes at his mate.

“Hey, if it works than don’t mess with it right? I mean it is the one thing that would get Sesshoumaru to do what we want and it has worked for years.”

Amare smirked at Inuyasha who was very clever and hoped that his plan would work.
