Banzan had flown once again to the little village that should be housing Shippo, the little fox demon. He hoped this time Shippo would be there since it was time to take the kit to his new home.
At the castle Shippo would learn from the fox demon guards there all he needed to know about his fox magic along with all the tricks of the trade since he already surpassed the fox demons at the school he had been going to.
This was an extra trip into the human village that Banzan did not wish to make. It was annoying enough for him to have to deal with the smell of peasant humans. At least his lovers at the castle did not stink and Banzan was pleased that his lovers were also no longer human.
Banzan luckily did not have to bring the carriage this time. The kit just sat quietly on his shoulder as they teleported through the air at speeds that surpassed time itself being that teleportation was an Inu inherited trait.
When they reached the castle Banzan slowed down and entered the castle at a mere walk while Shippo looked about finding everything in sight intimidating and enormous.
It wasn’t until Banzan reached the main hall that Shippo recognized his friends and was surprised at their change although Banzan had filed the kit in on what had occurred. Still it took seeing to believe that his adopted family had indeed changed.
“Shippo!”
Kagome stated enthusiastically as she looked at her adopted son who practically flung himself at her.
“You are a demon Kagome and everyone here. Wow, but Rin you are not. Why? Don’t you want to be like us?”
Rin smiled a little and blushed a bit.
“Rin has her reasons kit so do not ask something that is not your concern.”
Sesshoumaru stated plainly.
Shippo was too terrified of Sesshoumaru to argue.
“So where is Inuyasha and everyone else?”
Shippo asked Kagome as he looked around.
“They will be here shortly.”
Sesshoumaru answered as he bid Kagome to come to his side. Now that she was a hanyou he felt something strange within himself that seemed to find the young woman attractive.
“Rin, you will take the kit to the nursery so he can see where he will be sleeping. Then I expect you two to go and play in the gardens for a while.”
Sesshoumaru stated as Rin bowed and pulled Shippo along with her.
“Kagome, would you consider becoming my mate as well? I believe it will end the tension that we have between one another. I cannot promise you love since that is reserved only for Inuyasha, but I can promise you that you will be cared for, for all eternity as my mate.”
Kagome looked up into Sesshoumaru’s golden eyes. He was indeed a gorgeous man, but he had hated her as a human. How come he changed his attitude now?
“I will do so on one condition. Inuyasha is told about it and agrees to it. Then Inuyasha gets to mark me first.”
Sesshoumaru smiled. It was a good decision and once he marked her Sesshoumaru could formulate his plans since he would indeed keep Kagome so busy that she would not ever interrupt his time with Inuyasha.
Little known to Sesshoumaru, his Mother had listened to every word that Sesshoumaru had stated knowing her son was up to no good again. Louna knew Sesshoumaru had no love for the girl and to even state he would mate with her was only because she had something he wanted.
Kouga came back to the palace to see the changes in his friends and especially Kagome as he wanted to know what kind of hanyou she was. He was a bit concerned about the change and the fact she was a powerful miko.
When he entered the castle at his announcement Sesshoumaru was walking in the gardens with Kagome. Kagome smelled very familiar to him and hoped he was right as he rushed to greet her.
“So you became a wolf hanyou Kagome.”
Kouga said in joy as he took her hands in his own.
“They said they did not know what kind of hanyou I was.”
Kagome said confused.
“You carry my scent. I know you are a wolf hanyou. It is very light amongst the purification your body is putting off, but it is there.”
Kouga said and Kagome smiled as this made her happy.
“I was hoping to have the ears of a hanyou.”
Kagome said and Sesshoumaru frowned as he did not smell what Kouga did and he had a keen sense of smell.
“Well our hanyous don’t always have the ears. You have elfin ears which means you are more demon than human.”
Kouga said as he moved her hair behind her ear putting a flower there that he picked for her.
“I worry my miko powers might hurt the pup I am carrying.”
Kagome said and Kouga smiled.
“Actually in my tribe and clan healers are common especially hanyou healers. I think you won’t need to worry so much.”
Kouga said and Kagome felt better about that.
Inuyasha came out to see what was going on and saw his Kagome walking hand in hand with Kouga who was explaining everything about wolf hanyous and wolf demons to her. Inuyasha wanted to go grab Kagome and make the wolf let her hand go, but Kagome seemed happy right now much to Inuyasha’s despair. Did Kagome want to be with the wolf?
A whimper left Inuyasha as he watched Kagome smile and laugh with the wolf. She had only cried and been miserable around him, but Inuyasha wanted Kagome to be happy all the time. Sesshoumaru noticed Inuyasha’s whimper and the trembling of his lip as he was trying not to cry. Sesshoumaru figured a distraction was in order.
“Inuyasha, would you like to go spar with me?”
Sesshoumaru asked and Inuyasha shook his head no. His heart was breaking right now as he was watching the woman he loved shine for the wolf like she used to shine for him. Inuyasha turned tail and ran. He would not cry in front of people, it was too hard to take and he needed time to think. He heard Sesshoumaru calling out to him, but Inuyasha had to go far and fast for a while.
Flying from tree top to tree top Inuyasha ignored his tears. Why did love have to be so fucking hard? Why couldn’t things just go right for once in his life? This pain made Inuyasha want to die. She was having his pup and she was walking with Kouga like they were a couple. Kouga loved Kagome. He truly loved her and Inuyasha knew this. Now Inuyasha truly understood how Kagome felt when he was with Sesshoumaru or when he had Kikyo. It burned and ripped at one’s soul this feeling.
Inuyasha finally stopped running and started killing. He found a group of bandits and made short work of them. Inuyasha slaughtered them trying to deal with the pain. It did not seem to help so he went further out to kill more things using his claws more than his sword. Rather than Sesshoumaru finding Inuyasha, Louna found him sobbing sitting by a river covered in blood.
“Feel better now?”
Louna asked Inuyasha knowing what the puppy was going through.
“No.”
Inuyasha said not turning around.
“I did the same thing as you when my mate fell in love with Izayoi. Your Mother was your Father’s true love and I was his concubine. Izayoi wasn’t the first to catch Touga’s eye, but she was the last. I loved that man with my heart and soul, but dogs tend to stray especially males.’
“So you are aware she loves you. She likes Kouga, but who wouldn’t. He is handsome, sweet, and a pure blood. He loves her intensely and he has done the same as you. He has killed to try to remove the pain. He will do it again when he leaves her.’
“Sesshoumaru loves you also, but be wary of my son. He is fickle and given to do things on a whim. One day he will be telling you he loves you more than the sun and the moon then the next he wants nothing to do with you. Right now you are in the honeymoon stages of your relationships. Kagome is getting to know the real you and so is Sesshoumaru. They both love you intensely, but both have serious issues. Kagome is too kind and Sesshoumaru is too cold. They are opposites and you are in the middle of a battle of wills.’
“Kagome even if she does not realize it manipulates you with her sweetness. Sesshoumaru with his beauty manipulates you to his will as well. You need to be strong puppy. Your heart will break many more times than this trust me I know.”
Louna said and Inuyasha nodded.
“I think Kagome would be happier with Kouga. She is not happy here with me.”
Inuyasha said flatly as his heart was hurting, but he wanted to do what was best for Kagome.
“Are you stupid puppy?”
Louna asked and Inuyasha frowned. He was not stupid, he was thinking clearly.
“No, why do you say that?”
Inuyasha asked angrily.
“She doesn’t love the wolf or did you not hear me the first time? She gave up everything for you and now you want to pass your problems onto someone else?”
Louna said in frustration. It was like talking to Touga who had no lick of sense some days. This boy was just like him.
“But she’s not happy with me.”
Inuyasha said trying to figure out what Louna was saying.
“No one is happy with you. You ran off rather than faced your problems. Sesshoumaru wanted to go after you, but I ordered him to stay. I am still his Mother even if he thinks he can Lord over everyone. Stand up for yourself for once in your life.’
“You let my son manipulate you and hog you all to himself. Of course your wife is going to feel left out. Even if you were never mated to my son and you were just being brothers you cannot forget your wife. She is bearing your pup. You want to give up your pup? My grandbaby? I don’t think so. Use your head child for once in your life. Stop thinking emotionally so much and start really seeing what is going on around you.’
“My son asked to mate your wife. Do you know why that is? Because he wants something from her. He does not love her. He won’t have his pups with her. He is already resentful of any time you spend with Kagome. My son is a very vain, selfish, egotistical, self-centered young man. He is a demon and demons are this way. I think you need a good education child as you don’t know Sesshoumaru as well as you think you do.’
“Rin thinks Sesshoumaru is some kind of demon saint. He is far from it. I guarantee now that Kagome has demon blood in her veins she too will become a bit more self-involved. The one thing you are lacking that they all have is confidence. You are an oddity for an Inu demon. You let your human side dictate much of what you do. Let some of your weakness go. I know Sesshoumaru drills that into your head enough if he did not beat it into you. Be a bit selfish and fight for what you want.”
Louna said as Inuyasha sat thinking about this.
“Thank you.”
Inuyasha said as he got up, waded into the river and washed off the blood.
“No need to thank me puppy. You are my son, just don’t expect me to coddle you again.”
Louna said as she disappeared.
