He saw her move around in
her sleep and she mumbled words erratically. He could hear names like Kagome and
Kirara, but he was not sure who she was referring to, were their names the
names of friends or foes? But when tears formed under her thick eye lashes he
was sure that they were the names of friends. “What have you been through
young woman?” he asked before he joined her in her sleep, the sun was taking
its toll on him and he pushed forward his big hat to block out the radiating
beams of light.
He awoke again just as
the sun set beyond the horizon. A light pull of his left hand made him growl
low, wanting to sleep a little bit longer.
-
Hey D, wake up, trouble, trouble, shouted the voice.
-
Be silent!
-
She is goooone!!
-
What are you talking about?
-
The girl, she is gone.. as in vanished, not here, gone!
snorted the voice.
That had D up on his feet
in microseconds. His hand was right. The girl was gone; he let out a snarling
sound and looked around. She could not have gone very far, could she? She was
still healing and she was still weak.
His cape lay neatly
folded on the ground; she had taken the time to fold it. It meant she had not
been in a hurry, but how had she managed to do this without him noticing it? He
was never a heavy sleeper, and he had keen hearing. “She must be more skilful
than I had expected.” thought D and draped the cape over his shoulders.
~~^*^~~
Sango took a deep breath
and looked around. She had reached the foot of the mountain range and she felt
exhausted. She was in much better state than she had been when she woke up the
first time. But she was still weaker then she ever had been before. But she
could not stay; she needed to get away from the man who had taken care of her.
She did not know why, but he had the same kind of aura as those who had attacked
her and she was not going to stay to figure him out. She had taken a good look
at him before she folded the cape he had draped her with. He was handsome, she
admitted that much. There was a kind of dark beauty around him. Those long
eyelashes shaded his pale cheeks and she could not help but wonder what kind of
colour his eyes had. “Stupid Sango, you do not have time for this, you need
to get away.” So she folded the cape, using all her skills as a demon slayer
to move silently away from the make shift camp.
She realized that she
must have traveled for at least five hours when she saw the sun move down under
the horizon. “I better find me a shelter for the night.” she thought and
looked around and saw a small crevice in the mountain. But oddly she felt
stronger than she had before; it was like something washing in over her, filling
her veins with power. And as soon as the sun had vanished she felt like she
could conquer the world. “What the hell is the matter with me?” she asked
silently.
But she was not going to
be able to answer that just now because she felt something rush towards her, and
it held the same aura as her earlier attackers. “Well,
they will be sorry if they try to do anything with
me.”
she snarled viciously. She raised the Hiraikotsu over her head and waited for
the attack.
But it never came,
instead she saw a dark figure sitting silently upon a… “A metallic horse?”
She had not noticed that creature when she had escaped earlier.
-
I thank you for your help, but I don’t need you anymore, said
Sango with a firm voice.
-
How do you feel? asked the dark figure.
-
Fine.
-
Good, now come with me, he ordered.
-
Like hell I will. I am not going anywhere with a person that
I don’t know, snarled Sango and made a swoop with her youkai bone, making sure
that he would be hurt if he tried anything with her.
-
Lady, you owe D, he saved your life, said that voice she
heard earlier. It had come out of nowhere, just like the last time.
Sango narrowed her eyes
and looked around suspiciously.
-
Ok, now this is getting freaky, show your self before I cut
your master to pieces, growled Sango and raised the youkai bone over her head.
D was impressed by her
strength, sure his blood inside her gave her strength, but she had yielded this
weapon before many times, he could see it by the way she moved. And it was
heavy, he had touched it and lifted it during her sleep and it was heavy, it
must weigh around 50 pounds [roughly 25 kilograms], so she was strong. His heart
made a flip and he frowned. “What the hell was that?” he cursed.
-
Lady, you can not harm D, you are just a weak human, snorted
the voice.
-
Silence, said D.
He looked down into his
left hand and glared at the face there. Sango ogled the sight and she felt
slight dizzy. Ok, so Miroku had a wind tunnel in his right hand, but having a
face in the hand. That was just gross. Not that she was going to let it get to
her, she was used to freaky things, hell she had battled every youkai there was,
so a face inside the palm of a hand was nothing to her.
-
Ok Lefty, tell your master that I will kill him if he tries
anything, said Sango and got into a protecting stance.
-
Lefty? D:s voice hinted a small amount of amusement.
-
Don’t listen to her D, she is obvious out of her mind, said
the face.
-
Shut up Lefty, my mind is none of your business.
D looked down on the
fierce little woman and he hmpfed as he descended down from the horse. He saw
her move back a bit and he was surprised to see the boomerang glowing purple in
the growing darkness.
-
You can call me D if you like, he said with his calm voice, a
voice that reminded her of Lord Sesshoumaru’s. The demon lord had a voice that
seemed empty of any kind of emotions. – What is your name young lady?
-
Does it matter demon? she snarled.
-
Demon? Hey lady, you don’t go around and call D a demon, because he is not,
said the face.
-
Then what the hell are you? You are not human, your aura is
not that of a demon, but it is equally as strong, said Sango and saw the dark
figure move to rest his back against the stonewall.
-
I am a dunpeal, said D.
-
Dun… what?
-
A dunpeal lady, half human, half vampire.
-
Kind of like a hanyou? asked Sango, unfamiliar with the term
vampire.
-
A what? asked the voice.
-
A hanyou, half human, half demon.
-
Now there you go with that demon thing again, he is not a
demon.
-
Shut up Lefty, said D and closed his fist, muffling
any words coming from the face inside his hand.
-
Thank you… D, said Sango.
-
Your name?
-
Sango, the name is Sango, I am a taijya, a demon slayer.
-
Demon slayer, there are no demons around here, have not been
for many centuries.
-
Where is here then?
-
Don’t you know?
-
No, if I did I would’ve not asked now would I? she sneered.
-
These lands were once known as Europe, but that was a very
long time ago, said D.
-
Europe?
The name was very vaguely
familiar to Sango.
-
How long ago?
-
Four hundred years ago.
Sango’s eyes flickered
and D was afraid that she was going to faint. He reached out to grab her but she
swatted his hands away with a growl.
-
Don’t touch me you pervert!
D just raised a well
formed eyebrow and moved back again. He saw her tense up again and she raised
her boomerang once more.
-
Get ready D; because here comes the bad guys, she snickered.
The small clearing was
soon flooded with vampires and he reached for his long sword. He saw the woman
known as Sango grin evilly as she threw that giant boomerang with ease. The first
round it made dusted four attackers and while it made it turn she drew her
sword. He decapitated two vampires and watched her rush forward into a large
group of blood suckers. Her sword was glowing just like her boomerang had done
and he was fascinated by it. His extraordinary senses told him that this power
that emanated from her weapons was something pure, something more pure than the
holy waters from the churches. He wondered if his blood somehow had made that
energy within her wound to settle inside her body.
The boomerang returned
and killed the last of the vampires. He heard her laugh in victory.
-
Shit, she is strong, said the voice.
-
Indeed she is, D agreed.
-
I bet she is stronger than you, taunted the voice.
-
Be silent Lefty… D smiled hauntingly.
The face was effectively
silenced and D snorted. He turned his golden red gaze back at the figure in
front of him. “He is perhaps right, she could be
stronger than me.”
he thought and sheeted his sword again. “But right now she has to calm down
or my blood will turn on her.” He moved up behind her and disarmed her
effectively and before she could react he had her in a warm embrace.
