A Dance to Remember
A DANCE TO REMEMBER
NEXT: LEARNING THE WAYS OF REHAB, LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT...
"Miroku, you and I will both get through this... I'm tired of hiding from my life..." Miroku smiled through his tears at her words. He stood and hugged her tightly, he took her hand and slowly helped her walk out the door. "C'mon I'll show you around." he said cheerfully. She smiled back at him and leaned into his sholder for support.

Leaning against Miroku's strong arms, they walked slowly down the pale blue hallways. Coming to a halt at the end of the passageway, and gazing out into a courtyard through big glass doors. Kikyou gasped at the size, and beauty of this centered garden. She held tighter to Miroku's arm, telling him that she wanted to go.
She smiled up at him, as he helped her walk out between the shrubs and flowers that adorned the ground. The soil was wet from the previous nights rain, and that was when Kikyou remembered her last drug infusion. She moaned slightly, craving that same emotion of ecstacy. It was what she needed to be happy, and now she was in a place that had cut it off from her entirely.
Miroku loked down at her concerned, and lifted her chin with his hand. "Kikyou... you have to push past it... maybe we should do something to take you're mind off of it..." he sighed. Kikyou could guess what he was thinking, Miroku always being one of a lecherous nature. But then she was hesitant when he held out his hand to her. "Would you care to dance?" he asked shyly, a peach blush spreading over his nose.
Kikyou was suprised, maybe it was all the OC's gone to his head. But she took his hand willingly, and then began a song. She didn't know who started to play the piano, but it filled the gardens with the most beautiful of all melodies. Twirling around in gracious circles, holding tight to Miroku's shoulders for support, and smiling the whole time. Completly enjoying this little world she was now engulfed in.
The music played with her head, making her imagine a world where everything was quiet. Everything was okay, and nothing could ever harm you, or make you sad. And nobody ever died, they just kept getting older, and more beautiful, no aging, no disease. And it made her smile to think that there might be such a place to finally escape to, and now that she was here, she didn't want to leave.
Miroku smiled, and led in her beautifly curved lines down through the paths of the gardens, and back up and around the pond. Stopping over the small brigde that was there. Kikyou hung her head over his shoulder, and hugged him tightly. Miroku kept his hands to himself, resting them on her back, smoothing the sliky strands of her hair. Kikyou shivered at his touch, still surrounded by the passion that had fufilled her desire to be happy.
"Miroku... that was wonderful... I've never... been so happy without..." he put a finger to her lips so she couldn't say that next word. And then he led her into another passionate waltz. And so beagan the beautiful melodies, bringing back the most distant of memories to Kikyou's mind. Remebering how it was when her mother and father would dance around the parlor, smiling. And then they stopped and look at each other like it was their wedding day. It made Kikyou want to cry to remember seeing her mothers lifeless face, the day Oxycontin took her life.
That was almost the opposite reason that she started her addiction. But it wasn't in her heart to give it up so quickly, and when he father fell ill, she could only pray that he wouldn't be perscribed Oxycontin as well. But he was, and luckily he didn't become an addict, but he had given Kikyou one for her headaches and it was then Kikyou realized, that she wanted more. And then it got too serious to even remember what happened during those long cold rainy nights. So she held onto Miroku, and cried. He didn't mind her, just as long as she was going to be okay in the end.

Stupid place, and a hatred to have found out that his plan had failed. He clenched his fist and let his muscles loose on the bed sheets, screaming in the process. "DAMNIT! She didn't even die! I'll kill that bitch if it's the last thing I do!" he cursed to himself, wishing that they hadn't taken his sword away from him. But now he was stranded in a Juvinile Correction Centre, infested with druggies and rebels, all who wanted the same thing... To get the hell out.
The man in charge of him had specifically ordered him to try and stay calm, but he found this quite a challenge. To hear that Kagome Higurashi was still quite alive. She had lost alot of blood and fallen into a coma. And she had been alseep since, but as bad as it sounded to him... it wasn't enough. His goal was to kill her and send her to a wretched fiery pit called Naraku. And he knew she would go to hell because she had driven someone to suicide, and in the trainings and beliefs of a youkai family, it was a high sin.
"That stupid bitch!" he yelled loudly, this time arousing the interest of his room-mate. His name was Kouga, and he had also tried to kill. However he wasn't succesful in executing his plot. He was reported before the actual assasination had taken place. And he too, though being more open minded, loathed the fact that he had failed.
"Thinking about that girl again?" asked Kouga, leaning over to see under Inuyashas hair, to get a look at his expression. He saw for a minute a sadness, not rage, but sorrow. A certain degree of grief also resided in InuYasha's heart, and it was only there becasue he had failed. He had failed in his plan, and he had failed in avenging his brother. And that, thought of his brother Hojo, hurt the most.
InuYasha stood up suddenly, startling Kouga to fall on his bed. "I'm goin for a walk..." sighed InuYasha, running his fingers along the walls as he walked. Hanging his head in greiving, and walking blindly into the gardens. He perked his inu ears to hear a soft piano melody, and looked around to see where it was coming from. He noticed that a girl and a man were dancing around the garden paths. And he was instantly enchanted by the beautiful figure of this girl.
He had always been strong of heart, and will. But now, he seemed to have no power to controll his actions, and kept watching as the pair twirled in gracious circles around the flowers and petals from the cherry tree. The sakura landed everywhere, littering the whole garden with light pink petals. He wastched the girl as she leapt in her rythim and nearly fell into the man who held her up.
The same melody was now enchanting him, and he quietly followed the two around the gardens. Pretending to stop and notice somthing, whenever they would come close. And then it was back to his gazing, only wishing that he could get closer, to touch her and talk to her. The smell of her combined with the lasting sakura was unbearable intoxicating. And he knew he needed to have her, he was just afraid to fall in love.

Kikyou was lost in this other world, and only she and Miroku knew of it's existance. As the music continued to play their world grew more bright and colorful. And when the music grew quiet, it faded to an almost invisible texture. But when the pianist hit a strong note, the lights would spring up again and the sky would light on fire, a bright sunset slowly dissapearing behind a spread of old trees, too small to notice against the blinding orange tones of the solar spectacular.
When the music ended, Kikyou sighed. Afraid to leave that beautiful place and return to the real world, where nothing like that had ever existed in her life. She left Miroku's arms and sat down on the soft green grass by the pond. Her fingers were intertwined with the long blades of foliage, and it tickled her palm when she brushed along the rocky edge of the water.
"How do you feel now?" asked Miroku in a light, happy tone. He smiled at her and she smiled back at him, though obviously reluctant to have left that beautiful bright world. "Much better, arigatou houshii." she sighed, seeing her broken reflction in the murky blue water of the koi pond. And seeing the water ripple as a tear joined in the stream. Miroku caught the next tear, wiping it away with his hands. "Kikyou, no more crying... I want you to be happy." he said. Honestly, that was what he wanted, and after his revelation, he realized that he had been a jerk before. He was already healed, and only stayed in rehab to protect Kikyou.
"I am happy, I'm getting better... aren't I?" she looked up at him with a sorrowed, lonley expression. It made him feel guilty to have let her fall so deep into her addiction. And knowing it was his fault, made him want to die. He took a deep breath and answered, "Yes Kikyou... you're going to get better. And I'll be right here with you, I got you into this, and I'm going to help you get out. I'm so sorry I let this happen... I'm such an ass." Kikyou lifted his head, "It's okay Miroku... it's over now. No more worries okay?"

Her voice was like that of angels, and he couldn't believe he was this close to her already. He could barely belive that he had already fallen into the pit of his own heart. Usually he kept out all the feelings, because most of them were so painful. He didn't want to get hurt like his brother, he didn't want to fall in love. But it was too late, and he hadn't come to realize it yet. He was in love, and nothing could make him turn back.
