“Sango please…come on…talk to me…” begged Kagome, rubbing Sango’s back like a mother or little sister would do to that of a crying sister or daughter.
Sango mumbled as she continued to cry into the pillow.
“He was too drunk…I couldn’t go through with it…I just could do that to him…” she whimpered. Why did relationships have to be so damn complicated?!
“Couldn’t what? Show your feelings?” asked Kagome sounding worried. Sango nodded and replied.
“I couldn’t stay there with him once I found out his current condition…”
“How drunk was he?” asked Kagome.
“He’d had 3 bottles of sake and was so drunk he couldn’t hide his ‘feelings for me’ from the worst of enemies.” Said Sango through her tears.
Kagome decided it would be best to just leave Sango alone.
Sango had been alone for so long and had kept her feelings so locked up that heartache was inevitable. She knew that all Sango wanted was to be close to someone again, she wanted someone she could trust her heart to.
Kagome was her best friend and all but she couldn’t tell her everything.
Miroku, if were ever to clean up his act would be an excellent person for Sango. He’d understand the pain of losing one’s family, of being alone for years, of being cursed, of being betrayed and almost killed. He could be her special someone to repair and maintain her beaten and well walled heart.
It didn’t take long for Sango to cry herself to sleep as Miroku passed out on his bed after listening painfully to Sango’s tears, though in the morning he wouldn’t remember anything after taking that first drink of sake…
“Are you feeling alright Sango?” asked Shippo, looking at the tired taiji who was leaning against the wall after just waking up.
“Yes *yawn* why do you ask?” said Sango yawning again.
“You were crying in your sleep…something about Kohaku…” said Shippo.
Sango nodded…she had a nightmare last night about falling in love with Miroku and the moment their lips touched Kohaku showed up and exploded, bathing Sango in a sea of blood and Miroku disappeared as if he’d never been there.
“Oh Kami…my head…” she muttered as she rubbed her forehead.
“Here, take these.” Said Kagome, handing her two aspirin.
Sango had taken Kagome’s medicines before and took them with out question. Kagome smiled a little bit as a young worker came into the room and set down their breakfast tray.
“Arigota.” Said Kagome as the woman left. Kagome passed out the rice cakes and tea to her friends.
Sango ate as her headache faded away but the pain seemed to be trickling into her heart.
As they finished their meal, shouts and screams were heard from outside mixed with the roars of demons being zapped by Miroku’s ofudas magic. But the demons were far too powerful to be affected by the simple ofudas because of the jewel shards that each one of them posed. There were three demons in total.
Within seconds, Miroku, Inu-Yasha, Kirara, Shippo, Sango and Kagome were outside and battle ready.
Kirara had transformed into her usual giant form and Sango had her boomerang and slayer’s uniform on.
“What the hell?! Miroku, why aren’t your damned spell things working?” demanded Inu-Yasha.
“They have one jewel shard in each of their heads!” yelled Kagome, knocking an arrow onto her bow.
“Hiraikoutsu!!!” yelled Sango in a battle cry as she used her weapon on the blue-ish demon who had been trying to grab some of the villagers.
“We want jewel shards!” it yelled as the boomerang tore through the demon’s stomach and then it’s neck on return.
Kagome shot the creatures head, causing it to explode and release the jewel shard. She quickly run forward and picked it up.
“We got one!” she said happily.
“I’ll take care of clean up.” Said Miroku, using his wind tunnel to suck up the demon’s remains.
“I got this guy! WIND SCAR!” said Inu-Yasha, attacking the green demon with huge pointy horns.
The demon screamed to his death as his brother cried out in grief.
“How dare you kill my brothers?!?!” he howled as it attacked Miroku who tried to protect himself with his staff but no mortal man could hold out against the demon’s brute strength and Miroku was pinned to the ground, the demon’s claws sinking into his flesh and wetting the ground with his blood.
“Houshi-sama!!!” cried Sango, attacking this demon with her weapon and slicing off his arm. The demon howled and smashed a house with its remaining arm as Kirara and Sango pulled and pushed the huge arm off of Miroku.
“Inu-Yasha! Finish it off!” she yelled as she knelt by Miroku side and felt the severity of the monk’s wounds.
“Wind scar!” yelled Inu-Yasha, slaying the 3rd demon.
“Yes! Three more shards!” he cheered.
“Houshi-sama? Houshi-sama, please open your eyes!” begged Sango as she shook his shoulders, her hands covered in his blood.
Miroku groaned as he opened his eyes slightly.
Sango touched his face as Kagome and Inu-Yasha ran quickly over and helped Sango get Miroku inside and onto his bed where Kagome pulled out her medical kit and wrapped the wounds as Sango helped Miroku take some medicine to help reduce pain and risk of infection.
“Damn demon…” muttered Miroku weakly as Sango picked up his hand and held it tightly.
“Don’t worry Houshi-sama…you’re going to be alright…” said Sango and Miroku smiled slightly at her before falling asleep from the medicine, loss of blood and need of rest.
“Sleep well Miroku…” said Sango softly as she kissed his hand softly and leaned back against the wall.
