    Inuyasha wandered dazed down the long corridor back to his room. He still was unsure of what happened, his heart felt very heavy almost as if it was missing a piece. He was almost back to his quarters when he heard a low growl. Immediately he took fighting stance, reaching down he finally realized he left his sword back in his room unattended. Cursing himself he glancing around quickly trying to determine the source of the threat. His eyes finally landed on the angry face of his brother

and his ears drooped.

    Sesshomaru's growl deepened as he barked in Inu-Youkai language "Pup, where have you been?"

    Inuyasha growled back, irritated at being called pup "I don't remember!"

    Sesshomaru sighed, rubbing his temples, "All right then, return to your room, and do not leave Tetsusaiga unattended again."

    Inuyasha followed Sesshomaru grudgingly back to the wing their rooms were in. Sesshomaru calmly returned to him room, and Inuyasha retired to his.

    Several hours later, a servant boy came and announced that supper was ready. The freckled boy waited patiently then, lead then both down to the dining hall. He pointed to the two seats they were to use, bowed and bid them farewell.

    A short time later the king entered followed by three of his four children. They approached the table and took their seats. Sesshomaru eyed the two females carefully. They both looked around the same age. Which one was the Sultan trying to marry off? He glanced to the empty seat, and wondered where the third daughter was. Clearing his thoughts he waited for the Sultan to announce his intentions and introduce his children.

    Moments later, Sultan Higurashi stood from the table to began his speech. "Prince Sesshomaru and Prince Inuyasha, you were invited here today because I am looking for a suitor for my youngest daughter, Kagome." Glancing over his children he paused, as if noticing for the first time one was not present. His irritation was

evident as a slight redness crept over his face, just as the Sultan was about to open his mouth and demand her whereabouts a loud squeak from the heavy wooden door signaled her arrival. The Princess rushed to her place with her head bowed muttering her apologies to her father she took her seat.

    Sultan Higurashi cleared his throat and continued, "First allow me to introduce my children. My eldest and heir Prince Souta." Souta stood and smiled broadly to the guests in the dinning hall. "Next my second and third eldest twins Princess Kikyou and Princess Keade." Both stood and bowed their heads to the assembly. "And finally my tardy youngest Princess Kagome." Kagome stood her face burning red with embarrassment for her late arrival, and bowed her head. "Prince Sesshomaru and Prince Inuyasha I will speak to you in private after dinner." With that said the Sultan took his seat. Sultan Higurashi picked up his fork and took a small bite of his meal signaling everyone else to begin.

    Inuyasha sat entranced. The scents coming off all three daughters were divine, however the youngest daughter Kagome smelled perfect. In the back of his mind his demon was thrashing about demanding control, but with Tetsusaiga at his side his demon had no chance of release. He stared at the young princess trying to see the rest of her delicate features though her silk veil. Her shining blue eyes seemed uncomfortable and worried as she tried to concentrate on her meal with his burning golden eyes on her.

    Sesshomaru's eyes traveled from his brother to Princess Kagome. He briefly scanned Princess Kagome's body as she ate. She seemed attractive enough... As inconspicuously as possible he took a whiff of the air taking in her scent. His eyebrow arched and he glanced in his brother's direction. His little brother had no idea how much trouble he was in. Sesshomaru felt a headache coming on and excused himself from the table.

    Retiring to his room he sat in complete darkness contemplating his options. His brother had made a claim on the young female proving that his inner-youkai was definitely interested in her. However, the female was in heat and Inuyasha has been without Tetsusaiga when he succumbed to her scent. His mind was piecing together what he should do when the freckled boy wrapped loudly on his door.

    He paused before answering through the darkness, "You may enter." The large heavy door creaked in protest as the small boy pulled it open, and cautiously

peered in the darkened room. His large green eyes seemed to glow in an unnatural way in the pitch black room.

    "Sultan Higurashi requests you join him for a conference" the boy stated calmly. "I am to lead you there when you are ready, I'll await you in the hall." With that he turned sharply and exited the room.

    Sultan Higurashi sat in a large plush chair awaiting the arrival of Prince Sesshomaru. Prince Kouga had already offered a high price for his daughter's hand.

However, he wished not to breed her which would extinguish the blood of his beloved forever. As much as he blamed his daughter for Aiko's death, he could not bear the thought of his grandchildren being killed at birth. It would be a waste of the beauty Aiko left behind in the world. Just as his mussing were coming full circle the small freckled boy notified him of Prince Sesshoumaru's arrival. He waved to servant away and stood to greet his guest. "Good evening Prince Sesshoumaru, please have a seat and let the discussion begin."

    Sesshouaru entered the room and gracefully lowered himself into the offered chair. He waited for Sultan Higurashi to begin before placing his own offer on the table. Sultan Higurashi began by reciting Prince Kouga's generous offer, "10 virgin slave girls, 25 carts of lumber, 20 milking goats, and 10,000 gold dinars."

    Sesshoumaru listened to Prince Kouga's offer and then stood and gave his reply, "As my brother seems to be quite taken by your daughter. I will offer you

20,000 gold dinars, 100 lumber carts, and 50 camels. I will also guarantee her safety as well as the safety of her pups in the future." Sesshoumaru returned to his seat as he finished.

    The Sultan took in the offered then voiced his decision. "Your offer is far superior, and I would like very much to accept it. However, protocol states I must summon Prince Kouga once again and make sure he doesn't wish to raise his offer before I finalize my decision."

    "I understand," answered Sesshoumaru before standing and excusing himself to retire for the evening. As he strode down the long corridors toward his destination he contemplated the fine mess his brother had made. Now they had another demon of royal lineage on his way here and no doubt he would be able to smell Inuyasha's claim on the girl. Yes, it was one fine mess. If he could find a way to see the girl before Kouga's arrival, then he may be able to mask his brother's claim temporarily at least long enough to finish the negotiations and finalize their engagement.
