Sakura woke in a state of panic. The last thing she remembered was being carried away on wind from Sesshomaru's garden. Wait a minute... wind. The wind had been blowing so hard, she hadn't been able to see a thing. She remembered the attack though, and the evil woman that had threatened her friend. Was that who had captured her? Where was she? She sat up and looked around, it was awful dark in here. She remembered Sesshomaru's present and smiled. She pulled the crystal from her kimono and it lit up the room. She was in a spacious room but the only things in there were her and the blankets she had woken up on.
"Sakura, are you awake?"
It was a womans voice, but not the same one that had attacked them. This voice was one that she didn't recognize but she didn't sound evil. The door opened and the woman came into the room. She was tall with long black hair that reminded Sakura of her mothers. She was strickingly beautiful in a long white kimono with skin as dark as night and eyes of swirling silver. Sakura felt as though she had seen this woman before but she couldn't quite place her."Who are you?" She asked in awe. The woman smiled at her and she couldn't help but to return it in kind.
"My name is Mizuki. Tell me Sakura... Who are you?"
What did Mizuki mean? "I'm sorry but I don't understand. You already know my name. What do you mean who am I?" Something didn't feel right. Her chest felt heavy as her panic started to rise.
Mizuki looked kindly at the girl as she felt her fear rise to feel the room. She had known that this was going to happen but it had to be done so she asked her again. "Sakura, who are you?"
Sakura suddenly had a headache and felt like she needed to lie down. It just kept getting worse and the pain was overwhelming. She grasped at the sides of her head and started to moan. "Mizuki, help me. Please."
I am trying to kitten, you are so close Mizuki thought. Sakura was in a lot of pain but she had to keep going. She had to remember who she was. The fate of the world literally depended on it. "Sakura. WHO ARE YOU?"
Sakura screamed as her body shattered, or at least that's what it felt like. The pain was unbelievable but it didn't last long as her body was pulled from the little room and she landed in a palace. Looking around she gasped at the beauty surrounding her. She was in the front hall and it was ladden in silver and jewels. There were paintings of black cats along the walls that were so stunning it took her breath. She stopped in front of the one with her mother in it and she smiled. Her eyes widened as recognition hit her, this was her home. Down the hall on the right was her sleeping chamber, which led out into a garden of flowers and cherry blossom trees. How had she forgotten this? Why had she forgotten this? Why had she ever left?
"Mizuki! Mizuki?"
Sakura turned as the sound of her mothers panicked voice reached her ears. "Ha-Ha ue. It's me, Sakura." Her mother didn't even flinch and when she got closer, Sakura jumped to wrap her arms around the mother that she had missed so much and fell through her instead. She took one look at her hand and noticed that it wasn't quite solid. No one here could see her.
"Here Akane. In Sakura's room."
Sakura followed her mother into her own room and her heart sank. Her room was charred black from a fire that was still burning. Mizuki was holding a bit smaller version of herself blowing the flames away with her power. Her mother was walking right through the flames, not even burning through her kimono. Thats right. Her mother was fire. Mizuki was wind. Mizuki was her mothers big sister. Making her Sakura's aunt and her father... was human.
"Mizuki, you have to take Sakura far away from here. Erase her memories and bind her demon, or at least her real demon." Akane pleaded with her sister, hoping that she would understand.
"What the hell are you talking about Akane. You can't just change what she is and to erase her memories would be too cruel."
"Replace them then. She cannot have any memory of this place or what she is. At least for a few years. There are things, bigger, evil things at work here that we cannot defeat and never will if she dies Mizuki. We both know what is going to happen here today. You have to get her out."
Mizuki just sat there holding little Sakura in her arms openly gaping at her sister. "Akane, what is going on? Tell me."
Akane ran her fingers through her hair and snapped her fingers and the flames disapeared. She should have done that in the first place. "Mizuki there is too much to explain right now. We do not have time. I need you to trust me. Please."
Mizuki knew that her sister wasn't getting out of this palace alive. She had known the second the barrier had been broken and even though she wanted to stay and fight, it was futile. She looked to Sakura then locked eyes with her sister with newfound determination. "What do I need to do?"
Akane let out a sigh of relief, Mizuki was not one to back down from a fight but Sakura's safety was more important."Go west. Find the demon swordsmith Totosai, he will explain." Akane knelt infront of them and laid her hand over her daughters precious heart and a strange light started to glow.
"Akane! No! you are leaving yourself powerless. Why?"
"She was born of water. I am giving her Fire. When the time is right, you will know when, you will give her wind. And Earth was given when our mother died. She will never be able to control elements that are not meant for her but she can give them to whom she deems fit for them." She felt the last bit of power flee from her to her daughter and looked one last time to her sister."Now go, Mizuki. GO!"
