CHAPTER 4

Kouga looked down at the precious woman in his arms and then back to the hanyou, "I'll give you the potion for Kagome."

"WHAT!!!" Kagome cried out "I AM NOT SOMETHING YOU TWO CAN TRADE OR SELL!! I AM A PERSON, I HAVE RIGHTS, I..mmph.." Kouga
covered her mouth and wrapped his other arm around her waist, catching her arms to her sides so she couldn't move or try to escape. Inuyasha seemed to be
deep in thought, 'No!nonononono! He is actuallysidesidering it! Is he really going to let Kouga take me? He can't, he just can't, this isn't happening....'
Kagome's thoughts were spinning out of control as her mind raced to find some way out of this mess.
Kouga was too strong and had a death grip on her, so there was no way to get free and make a break for the well and her friends were to far from to hear her
even if she could scream. 'This is hopeless.....' Kagome began crying. Tears trickled down her cheeks and onto Kouga's strong hand.
He looked down, doing his best top alp all emotions from showing. Kouga wished he could reach down and kiss all her fears away. "Come on dog turd, I
don't have all day! Just think of it this way, even if you do get the entire jewel, you can only have one wish. I know you want to become a full youkai and
revive your woman, but you can't do both. Why worry about making a choice when I am offering you an easy answer. Just take the potion. I love Kagome.
She will be well taken care of.

"Who will help me find the jewel shards?" Inuyasha asked.

"What about your woman? Wasn't she the protector at one time?"

Inuyasha thought for a moment, "Yeah Kikyo can sense the shards. But I think Kagome is worth more than JUST a bottle of potion, after all, there is no
guarantee it will work."

Kouga growled angrily, "What else do you want half breed?"

He smiled at Kouga and held up three fingers, "I want all three of your shards wolf!"

"WHAT?! There's no way in hell I'm going to hand them over to you!"

Inuyasha laughed and shook his head, "Then I guess I'll have to take Kagome back."

Kouga backed up a little from the approaching hanyou, 'Wait...." the wolf glance down at Kagome weighing his options "... I'll give you one of the shards."
"ONE, no way wolf! Make it two and I'll walk away now, forgetting that I ever saw you." for the first time ever Kouga, reached out to shake his hand, "Just
do one g fog for me, "Inuyasha asked, let her come back and visit once in a while. Shippo and the others will miss her terribly."

Now that Kagome's mouth was uncovered she took the chance to speak, "How could you do this! You are such an ASSHOLE Inuyasha!! You know I don't
love Kouga! I care so much for you, I think I even love you and you're just going to hand me over? What if this had been Naraku!?"

"I'm sorry Kagome, I really am, but you know how much Kikyo means to me. I wouldn't let Kouga take you if I thought you were going to be harmed." his
ears drooped with guilt as Kagome sobbed uncontrollably. "Please Inuyasha, don't let him take me, please! What about my family?"

"Don't worry about your family, my love" Kouga tried to nuzzle her neck but she scrunched her shoulder up and tried to pull away from him, "I'll take you to
back to your village at least once a week to see them."

Inuyasha shook his head, "It's not that easy wolf. You see, Kagome lives five hundred years in the future and she goes home through the well." Kouga walked
with a tightly held Kagome to the edge of the well and looked down into its blackness. "All she has to do is jump in and she is magically transported to the
future."

"So that's why you dress funny and don't smell like tumanuman villages!" Kouga looked at the half demon "Have you ever been to her time? What do I have
to do to go there and come back here?"

"First you need a jewel shard in order for the well to work, and yes, I have been to Kagome's house. Her family is nice but her grandfather is crazy. When you
want to use the well, just jump in and wait for the light show, once your feet touch the ground, BAM your in the future!"

The look of hurt and betrayal on her face was indescribable. Kouga knew all about Kikyo, the Shikon Jewel and even Inuyasha's transformation during the
moonless night from their past encounters, but he never knew about the well. Kagome and the others thought it would be best to keep it a secret so he and
other demons wouldn't show up and cause a a lot of havoc. Now he knows everything. There would be no tricking him into taking her to the well and jumping
in so she could escape to the safety of her home.

The all too happy wolf reached for the pouch on his belt and took out a small vial of blue swirling liquid that sparkled in the sunlight. "Aimai called it the 'Elixir
of Life' she said you have to put it in your mouth and have the woman drink it from you. While she swallows, make the wish for her to live again; the results
should be instant. I also have a gift for you Kagome..." that same pouch held a lovely ring of shining gold and a deep red stone cut in the shape of a heart
surrounded by small diamonds.

The red color of this stone surpassed the brightness of a ruby and the depth of a garnet. The only was to describe it was the color of passion. This stone was
deep and flawless, it seems ths though it would pull you in if you stared at it too long.

He released Kagome and took her hand, noting how small it was compared to his own, and slipped the piece of jewelry onto the ring finger of her left hand.
Kagome was shaking, too in shock and numb to fight or protest. "Kagome.." she looked up, snapping out of her trance to see him and Inuyasha watching her.
They both looked concerned, but she didn't care.

Neither one of them cared for her, they were two of a kind; selfish liars who could care less about her feelings, just as long as they got what they wanted.
Kagome turned with a speed that could rival Kouga's and made one last effort to reach the well, "DOWN!"

I
Inuyasha looked at Kagome sitting on her knees, hands flat on the ground in front of her and head slightly bowed. Her body shook and both males could smell
the fear radiating form her.

"Holy Shit!" Inuyasha laughed while watching Kagome struggle to regain control of her body, "You actually put a subduing spell on her! How does it feel
Kagome!"

Shemblembled with rage and sorrow and turned to look at Kouga, "WHAT- have- you done- to -me?" her words were spoken slowly and held much hatred for
the youkai she once regarded as a friend.

Inuyasha strode over the girl, still sitting in her subdued position, and knelt in front of her, "Don't worry Kagome, you'll get used to someone controlling you.
If you're nice to Kouga and do what he wants I bet he'll even take that ring off of you!" he reached out to rub her head, "Just remember to be a good girl."

"Get away from me." Her words dripped with venom and those once loving brown eyes were filled with pain, "I don't ever want to see you again Inuyasha!"

Inuyasha covered one of her hands with his, " Kagome, I do think that you will be happy with thampy mpy wolf, he can give you the love that I can't. Believe it
or not Kagome, I do want you to be happy." She closed her eyes, refusing to look him.

He leaned forward and gave her a small peck on the cheek, "Don't worry, I'll tell the others you just went home and told me you were going to stay for a
while." he took the necklace with the jar of shards from around her neck and tucked them in his haori pocket.

"They won't believe you! Sango knows I wouldn't leave for weeks or months at a time!"

"Like I said, I'll take care of it." Inuyasha ran off into the forest leaving her alone with her new "master".
