Chapter 41: Unlikely Allies

A/N: Inuyasha, Sesshomaru, Kouga, and Koharu join forces. Will they be able to rescue Amaiya and reclaim possession of the Shikon No Tama?
Koharu�s feet barely even made contact with the ground he was running so quickly to reach his brother Kouga�s lands. When he reached his brother�s mountainside palace in the Eastern lands he pushed his legs harder to carry him towards his destination faster. Two guards that were on patrol at the palace�s front gates immediately came to the young prince�s side. �Prince Koharu, are you alright your highness?�
�Yes I�m fine. Where�s Kouga?�
�Lord Kouga is in his chambers with Lady Kikyo.�
�Well forgive me but I must speak with my brother at once!� The two guards stepped aside and watched as Koharu bolted into the palace. He quickly ran upstairs to Kouga�s large chambers and forced the door open. There he found his older brother in bed with Kikyo. The two scrambled to cover their nakedness as Koharu strode into their room.
�Koharu what is the meaning of this?�
�Brother there is a matter that needs our immediate attention!�
�Koharu, my mate and I were trying to conceive another pup! What is so important that it cannot wait?�
�Forgive me Kouga, but Amaiya has been kidnapped!�
�Kidnapped? By whom?�
�She was taken by Naraku, please Kouga you have to help get her back!� Kikyo nudged Kouga�s shoulder softly.
�Go Kouga, Amaiya is in trouble. I�ll be here waiting when you return.� Kouga gave Kikyo a soft kiss and an apologetic glance as he climbed from the bed. He quickly threw on his fur pelts and armor then turned to Koharu.
�Alright little brother, let�s go get your woman back.� Kikyo smiled and watched the two brothers as they headed out. Kouga and Koharu made it back to the Western lands with their army of warriors quickly.
Sesshomaru and Inuyasha were waiting for them on the front veranda of the palace. Kouga glared at Sesshomaru icily but held back from saying anything. Sesshomaru was instead the first to speak.
�Thank you for coming to my niece�s rescue Kouga.�
�Amaiya is my little brother�s soon to be mate so she is my family as well.� Sesshomaru nodded and glanced over at Inuyasha.
�Well little brother, shall we go?�
�Yeah, let�s go get my little girl back.� The small but formidable group headed towards Naraku�s palace. They all stopped just at the border of the barren tundra that was Naraku�s territory. Inside Naraku�s large black stone palace Amaiya had been dressed in a black silk kimono much like Kagura�s. She had silently thanked Kami that Naraku had not touched her again since the first time he had laid his hands on her. She had been taken to a small room without any windows and kept locked inside. Kagura had in a sense become Amaiya�s friend and told her what Naraku�s intentions were.
Kagura smiled to herself as she sensed Inuyasha and Sesshomaru�s presence in Naraku�s territory but remained silent. Deep down she hoped that they would kill Naraku. Kagura had made her final decision to betray her long time master. �Good Sesshomaru and Inuyasha have come to rescue Amaiya. I shall help them kill Naraku and then I shall finally be free of that cursed monster!� The small band of warriors rushed towards the palace waving their swords in the air angrily. Naraku awoke from his afternoon nap when he heard the shouts and many pairs of feet as they headed for his chambers. He quickly jumped from his bed and grabbed his sword.
The demon thrust open the door to his chambers and charged out into the large hallway. Inuyasha�s amber eyes narrowed when they landed on the dark haired demon with blood red eyes. �Naraku!�
�Ah Inuyasha, I wondered how long it would take for you to come running to your daughter�s rescue.�
�Where is she you bastard?�
�Oh she is safe, but you shall never get her back. Amaiya belongs to me now!� Koharu spoke up this time on his love�s behalf.
�Like Hell she does! Where the Hell is Amaiya?�
�I won�t allow you to take her or the Shikon jewel! They both belong to me now!� Sesshomaru�s cold voice seemed to resound through the hallway when he spoke making everyone freeze where they stood.
�So you took Amaiya to gain possession of the sacred Shikon jewel?�
�That�s right! And she was just an added bonus to the deal. I must say I truly enjoyed deflowering the Princess.� Koharu screamed out at Naraku in a rage.
�You bastard! How dare you touch my beautiful Amaiya! I�ll kill you!� He ran at the red eyed demon blindly and was quickly thrown to the ground. Sesshomaru was upon Naraku in a blur of white. Naraku stumbled backward as Sesshomaru grabbed him by his throat. He winced in pain as he felt Sesshomaru�s poisonous claws start to sink into the soft flesh of his neck.
�You shall pay for defiling my niece�s purity with your life!� Just as Naraku was about to shoot a burst of dark energy at Sesshomaru Kagura crept up behind him wielding a katana blade. She paused for a moment as if pondering what actions she should take. Then without further hesitation Kagura raised the sword and drove it through Naraku�s back. The cold steel blade pierced Naraku�s black heart and broke through his chest. Naraku�s blood red pools grew wide as they saw the end of the blade that had impaled him.
Ae cre crimson river of blood began to trickle down Naraku�s chest. Kagura stepped in front of her dying master so he could see that she had been the one to take his life. �K-Kagura? H-how c-could y-you d-do th-this? I....I.... l-loved y-you.� Kagura stepped back as Naraku coughed up blood and then took in a ragged last breath. Sesshomaru felt Naraku�s pulse as it flickered out much like a candle�s flame when it is snuffed out. He tossed the demon�s lifeless body to the ground and turned to Kagura.
�Who are you wench?�
�My name is Kagura and I was forced to be Naraku�s servant many years ago.�
�Is that why you killed him?�
�Yes because he was a cruel bastaro cao cared for no one but himself.�
�Tell me Kagura, where is he keeping my niece, Amaiya?�
�Follow me.� The small group followed Kagura to the room where Naraku had been keeping Amaiya prisoner. She opened the door and Sesshomaru stepped inside.
�Amaiya.� She jumped to her feet and threw herself into his outstretched arms.
�Oh Uncle Sesshomaru!� Inuyasha walked into the room and Amaiya ripped herself from Sesshomaru�s embrace to leap into the arms of her father. �Daddy! You came for me!�
�Of course I did angel, did you think I wouldn�t?� He let go of her when she saw Koharu come into the .
