Chapter 44: A Royal Wedding

A/N: Koharu and Amaiya take their vows and become mates!
The dawn of Koharu and Amaiya�s wedding had arrived. Amaiya was the first one to rise as the sun was nearly breaking the dark horizon. She slipped from the bed quietly so as not to disturb Koharu. Amaiya made her way down the spiraling staircase towards the kitchen. She was surprised to find her Uncle Sesshomaru sitting at the small table staring out the large window that had a view of the large mountain with a snow capped peak that bordered the south side of the palace. �Oh Uncle Sesshomaru, I didn�t know anyone else was awake.�
�Good morning Amaiya. What are you doing awake?�

Koharu smiled at his reflection pleased by his appearance. Soon the time had come for Koharu to take his place at the altar to wait for Amaiya. Many different demon lords and ladies had been invited to witness Koharu and Amaiya�s union. It was custom that the lord of the lands was to be the one to escort Amaiya to join Koharu at the altar. Kagome and Inuyasha watched as Sesshomaru strode down the walkway with Amaiya holding onto his arm gently. She looked absolutely radiant in her white silk kimono. Sesshomaru handed Amaiya over to Koharu but not before leaning over to whisper to the young wolf demon. �Take good care of my niece boy, or I shall hunt you down like an animal and destroy you. Understand?�
�Yes Lord Sesshomaru.� Sesshomaru then turned to Amaiya and placed a quick kiss on her forehead.
�You look beautiful darling.�
�Thank you Uncle Sesshomaru.� Amaiya took Koharu�s hand and looked deeply into his forest green eyes. Koharu gazed down into Amaiya�s brilliant pools of violet and could see all the love she held for him shining there. The monk that had been summoned to perform the ceremony cleared his throat signaling he was ready to begin.
�We have been gathered here today to witness the joining of two people in love. They have prepared themselves to become eternally bound to one another. Now Koharu, Prince of the Northern lands, do you promise to stand by Amaiya and always keep her protected to the best of your abilities?�
�I do.�
�Amaiya, Princess of the Western lands, do you promise to stand by Koharu and always keep him protected to the best of your abilities?�

�By all demon laws I hereby declare that you two are now mates and are eternally bound to each other.� Koharu and Amaiya shared their first kiss as a truly mated couple. A celebration followed the ceremony and Koharu used that opportunity to lead Amaiya through the crowd quickly.

�It�s time to seal our union love.� Amaiya�s cheeks burned a bright crimson.
�Now?�
�Yes mate, it�s time to create an heir.� Koharu led Amaiya back upstairs to her chambers and shut the door behind them. Amaiya stood stock still as Koharu began removing her kimono.
