Part 6

Ayame was the first to wake when the suns first rays hit the
hut�s entrance. She opened her eyes and saw the slow breathing of the little
kitsune. �Shippou-chan�� she thought and smiled softly. She then turned
her head and saw Inuyasha was still in deep sleep. �Good, then I perhaps can
get away from this mess.� She began to wiggle her way out of his lap when
she felt strong arms pull her back against a hard chest.

-

Do not even think about it Ayame-chan, whispered Inuyasha
raggedly and opened his eyes and let his golden glare burn into her green
emeralds.

Her eyes widened a bit. �How could he know what I was
thinking?� she thought and her heart sped up.

You are very easy to read my love, he snickered. But I did not
read your mind if that was what you thought.

-

Hmpf�

-

Are you hungry mate?

-

I guess it is no use telling you not to call me mate huh?

-

I guess not, smiled Inuyasha and loosened the hold around her
waist to let her get up.

She rocked the little kitsune in her arms, and she smiled softly
when he snuggled closer to her body. �If I am going anywhere, you will come
with me Shippou-chan.� She thought.

So, are you hungry?

-

A bit.

-

I expect you to be here when I come back from my hunting then,
said Inuyasha and looked firmly into her green eyes.

-

Yes Inuyasha, she answered and crossed her fingers.

Inuyasha snarled darkly, she was not telling the truth. Perhaps
he could get the old miko to help him with this? He nodded and went outside. He
sniffed the air and caught the scent of the old lady and followed it up to the
temple on top of the hill.

Good morning Inuyasha-chan, are you already awake? she smiled
brightly when she saw the silver haired hanyou leaping towards her.

-

Good morning Kaede-obaasan. I need your help, said Inuyasha and
landed soundless in front of Kaede.

-

What can I do for you?

-

I want to go hunting, but I fear that my mate will take her
chance and leave me and I can not allow her to leave me, do you understand?

-

Yes, but what can I do?

-

Don�t you know any spells or shit like that so she can not leave
me?

A binding spell? Kaede asked confused.

Yeah, something like that.

-

Are you really sure that she would leave you�?

I marked her during the night, I can sense some of her emotions
and thoughts and yes, she would take off as soon she knows that I am out of the
neighbourhood, said Inuyasha with a snort.

-

Alright Inuyasha, I will think of something. Is she still in the
hut?

-

Yes, she is caring for our pup.

-

Your pup?

Inuyasha blushed deeply but nodded. He had come to care for the
little boy as his own and he grunted out something about hormones and instincts
before taking off to hunt.

Kaede sighed heavily but went down the stairs and back to her
hut. She reached for the beads inside her haori and wondered how she could get
them around the young female�s neck. If the wolf had those, Inuyasha only had to
utter the binding word to tie her to him.

Ayame was a bit furious with Inuyasha; she knew that her little
white lie had been seen through by the hanyou. And she could not leave until the
little kitsune was fully recovered and it seemed like it would take another day
or two, but then� then she would take off. �Why, you like him, perhaps even
love him�.� said a soft voice inside her head and she rustled her head to
get rid of it. Her thoughts were cut off when she saw the old miko come in
through the door.

Good morning miko-sama, said Ayame and bowed her head in respect.

-

Hush, hush child, just call me Kaede. How is the boy? asked Kaede
and looked down into the bruised face of the kitsune.

-

He is better. But he needs another day or two before he is fully
healed.

-

I see� Has he been awake?

-

Yes, he woke for a short time during the night. He called out for
his mother and father. My guess is that he witnessed their deaths but I am not
quite sure.

Kaede mumbled something about a cruel world and scurried off to
one of her counters with vials and herbal containers. She then looked like she
had an apparition.

-

Ohh, I forgot. I was up at the temple and I got you this, said
Kaede and gave Ayame the beaded necklace.

-

What is it? asked Ayame and looked down on the black pearls that
formed the necklace and gave it an eerie tone.

-

I knew that you had some form of good inside your soul, or else
you would not have been able to release Inuyasha from that spirit arrow. But
this is a sign for your goodness and I want you to wear it, please.

Kaede could have bitten off her tongue for that lie, but she owed
Inuyasha this and she had promised him to think of something and this was the
only thing she thought would work on the female.

Thank you Kaede-sama, said Ayame and bowed her head and the old
miko slipped the beads around her neck.

-

It look good on you too, smiled Kaede and her heart bled over the
lies that left her lips so easily. Although, it did look good on her.

-

Thank you.

-

Well, I must be off again, I have some villagers that are in need
of my attention, but I will see you later, said Kaede, glad to get away from the
hut. She would not even dare to think of what could happen when the wolf found
out about the binding spell.

Ayame sat down again, the little kitsune still cradled in her
arms, sleeping away and healing. She fingered a bit at the odd looking necklace,
but she did not want to hurt the old lady�s feeling so she let it hang around
her neck.

Kaede met Inuyasha just before she went into one of the houses in
the village and she called for him

-

Inuyasha, I have given your mate an enchanted necklace, all you
have to do is utter the binding word, said Kaede and looked at the wild boar
that the hanyou carried on his back.

-

Thank you Kaede-obaasan, said Inuyasha with a mischievously grin
on his lips.

-

Just don�t over do it!

-

I promise�

And with that he darted off to the miko�s hut. �What kind of
word should I use to bind her to me then?� he thought as he laid the boar on
the front porch and entered the hut�
