Chapter Five: Part One
"Inuyasha?" Kagome stared at the sleeping hanyou in the corner across from her bed. He was donning a pair of nose plugs that she used for swimming. "Inuyasha?" She tried again, not receiving an answer the first time; she continued when she gained a grunt. "Why in the world are you wearing my nose plugs?" She couldn't help but giggle at the funny image before her.
"I wouldn't laugh if I were you. I could always take them off and be able to smell you." He knew then that realization had struck her when her eyes nearly bugged out of her head and she nodded silently. "That's what I thought. I took them when you were bathing earlier." He paused, scrunching his face becuase of the nose plugs. "These damn things are hell on my nose, but I can't just leave you alone for a week while your injured, eventhough, I don't need to be around you at all. After that stunt last night, you're lucky you are still a maiden at all." He knew she had no idea what he was talking about past what a moron could make out. She had no idea what she diod meant in his time, so he explained.
"So, you're saying that..." Kagome could not beleive her ears, she knew she wanted Inuyasha; but she also knew that she, at least, wasn't ready for a sexual relationship.
Inuyasha sighed heavily, the last thing he wanted was for her to not know how relationship worked in his time so that mangy wolf could claim her without her knowing she had silently given him permission as she had done him a mere few hours before. "Yes. Kagome," He looked up at her, trying his best to convey his thoughts to her without having to say them. He however, failed of course and continued with a sigh. "by allowing me to see you naked, you basically told me I could touch you however and wherever I wanted. That's not just for demons either, you constantly let me touch you in ways that would only be appropriate if we were mated, married, whatever. In my time, letting a man touch you below the shoulders is considered sexual or romantic." He sighed, he knew the next part would be difficult for him to say, but he had to anyway. Maybe, just maybe, she would understand what he was trying to tell her. "One of the reasons people stare at us when we enter a village sometimes is not only because I am a half-demon, Kagome. It is because I am touching in a way that, to them, means I am courting you. By carrying you on my back, holding your hand, or even speaking to you a certain way means that I have laid claim to you."
Kagome was blown away by what he just told her, she had no idea. "Wait, does that mean, well, if you don't like touching me that way, then why do it Inuyasha?" She jumped up from her bed, realizing more of what he had said. "Do you mean to tell me, that all these years, you have been laying a claim to me without me knowing?" She was screaming at the top of her lungs, furious that he had secretly been claiming her as his own. "I cannot beleive you. The nerve! You are as bad as Koga, not once asking me if I wanted to be with you! It doesn't matter that I do want you Inuyasha, but you could have asked! Jeez, I can't beleive you."
Wait, what? Did she just say she wanted me? I have to be hearing things. Before Kagome could scream and flail anymore, Inuyasha had grabbed her, pinning both arms to her side. "Wench, would you shut up? You are giving me a headache with all that screaching you're doing. No, I was simply keeping the other men and demons away from you. I have never even thought of laying any kind of claim to a woman such as you." At that point, Inuyasha could lie to himself or Kagome no more because amist her flailing, she had torn loose the valued nose plugs.
Inuyasha stopped dead, sniffing the air slowly. "Inuyasha?" Kagome didn't know what to do; she had just ripped away her only other protection besides her 'Sit' command. The use of that charm however flew out the window as soon as Inuyasha had pinned her under himself on the bed, nibbling and growling at her neck. "I thought you said, you would never claim a woman like me." She attempted to get him off of her, but his strength would not allow her to even budge.
He sniffed at the spot he had been licking on her neck, growling as his instincts began to get the better of him. "So I lied." That was all he said before he eyes flooded a soft red before flashing back to their normal hue. Before Kagome could have an inkling of fear, he was gone.
