Hi everyone. SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Soooooooooooorry that i haven't updated sooner. I have been so busy with school. It was finals time. well please please please let me know what you think. Oh and if any one could give me any ideas on how to spice things up I'd very much appreciate it. Wish could have made it longer but sorry.

Warning: I don't not own Inuyasha or Yu Yu Hakusho. I just wish i did. (dreamy face)

They never did break camp, but they did spend the day at the springs. It seems neither one of them was able to keep their hands off each other for any length of time. It wasn�t till they smelled something good cooking from their campsite that they reluctantly left the springs to investigate.

*Sango's thoughts*

~Hiei's thoughts~

Chapter 5

Sango had forgot to mention to Hiei that his �friend� Higaro had was still there, and Hiei had completely forgotten all about that �annoying� ice demon. Which was quite understandable considering the way they spent their day. Suffice it to say when they finally entered camp an all out war between Hiei and Higaro almost broke out, if not for a certain yokai exterminator threatening to �knock some sense into dimwitted yokai�s�.

*******1 week later***********

It�s about a week since Sango and Hiei have been together now traveling the country, with poor Higaro in tow. For Sango and Hiei it was more of a courting period. They spent their time gradually getting to know each other and were slowly dropping their emotional barriers. For Hiei to do this, meant that he had deeper feelings for the tajiya than he would willingly let on. Sango, was savoring the fact that someone just cared for her, for herself. Not just because she was a willing female. Poor Higaro on the other hand had decided to stay and see if Hiei and Sango may need his services. He still felt the weight of his own guilt towards Hiei and wanted to make it up to him but didn�t know how.

It was around this time that they stumbled upon a strange village. This village had signs that they had been under attack and the humans were trying to put it to rights. The odd thing was that the village had very little people for its size.

�Hiei, Higaro I think it may be wise for you to stay here while I see what has happened here� Sango said. She had a strong feeling that yokai wouldn�t be tolerated or treated well in this village.

�Hn� was all Hiei said. He had no wish to mingle with lowly ningens. Though if Sango had even suspected that Hiei thoughts were running along these lines she probably would have used her Hiratsu. Just because they were starting to care deeply for each other, that did not mean that Hiei still didn�t get a �big� headache every so often.

Higaro just slightly nodded his head.

As Sango walked into the village, the first person she saw was an old woman wearing miko�s (priestess�s) garbs. Sango bowed showing respect to the old miko.

�Priestess,� Sango began �what has happened to this village�

�Who are you and why do you travel with two yokai�s.� The old miko asked Sango in an emotionless voice while giving her a cold stare.

�I am a tajiya and those yokai are my traveling companions priestess.� Sango replied calmly.

�HM. A yokai exterminator traveling with yokai. Interesting.� The old miko said. �Now why should I tell you anything tajiya.�

At this point Sango was starting to lose her temper. �Priestess I would like to help if I may, but would you please tell me what has happened to this village.� She said calmly while slowly counting down from 10.

The old miko gave Sango a long hard look into her eyes as if trying to see into her soul. Whatever the old miko saw must have satisfied her for she finally gave a small satisfied nod and started to tell Sango what she wanted to know.

�There have been youkai attacks these past few weeks. With each attack our village has slowly started to decline. These yokai have been attacking our village because of some treasure we are suppose to have hidden in our land. This treasure that they seek is not but a myth. Yet, they keep coming in search for it. I do not know how long our village will survive such attacks. Many are starting to leave feeling that this place is not longer safe. Yet there are those who refuse to leave this place because it is their home. Would you offer your services tajiya and help us protect this village. Or maybe you can help us figure out the puzzle to this myth so that these attacks may cease.�

�Of course I will help priestess. What is this treasure that they seek.� Sango asked curious.

�This treasure is said to be a sword. A sword like no other and possesses strong powers. In order to possess the sword the human or yokai who wishes to wield it must have a strong will. For if their will is weak then the sword will slowly invade their mind and drive them mad. If their will is strong then who ever wields it may have control over it. A word of caution though, the sword is only as strong as that who wields it. If it is someone strong who wields it then the sword will adapt to the power of its wielder and slowly increase their strength, if it is someone weak then the sword will become slightly useless and posses and destroy the mind of who wields it. The swords itself has a mind of its own and if it doesn�t like you then whether weak or strong it will either drive you mad or make sure you can not get near it. Be careful tajiya if you go after it. You may also want to give your �friends� this warning also, seeing as how they have been listening.� The old miko warned.

�huh. Oh sorry about that. It seems I have nosy friends.� Sango apologized to the old miko.

�Pay it no mind child.�

�Priestess, do you have any clues as to where this sword may reside.� Sango asked.

�Yes child, there is a saying about where the sword may be found but no one seems to be able to make sense out of it. This is the saying:

Whether rain, snow, sleet, or hail

The sword shall always be protected

It lies in darkness waiting for the one

The one to find it, the one to wield it

It leys far up where it can gaze into the heavens

When the sun is at its peak the treasure will awaken

Signaling it beauty for all to see.�

The old miko finished reciting.

�Well this is a clue but what could it possibly mean.� Sango said.

�Child while you are here would you like to reside in this village.� The old miko asked.

�No, thank you, priestess. I think I will be more comfortable sleeping under the stars.� *besides* Sango thought to herself *Hiei would probably give me a hard time if I choose to sleep away from him*

~You are probably right woman~ Hiei communicated to Sango.

*Hiei have you been monitoring my thoughts all this time?* Sango asked irritated.

~Of course woman, how else was I to know if you needed help~

*Is that all you were thinking about*

~Woman I do not know of what you speak~

Sango smirked *far be it for me to enlighten you* hoping this would get a reaction from Hiei.

~Hn~ Was all he said in return. Thinking that it would be much safer to keep his thoughts to himself for the time being.

�Excuse me priestess, I believe I will go and rejoin my companions.�

�Very well child� The miko replied.

Sango turned and walked back towards the forest to meet up with her companions.

Hiei seeing the distracted look on Sango�s face decided to get her attention.

�What took you so long woman.� Hiei demanded. He got no response. �Wench I am speaking to you.�

Now that caught Sango�s attention. �What did you say.� She asked quietly.

Seeing as she hadn�t complained about being called woman before he thought that she probably didn�t mind being called other than her name for the time being.

�I said what took you so long woman.� Hiei repeated.

�I see, and what did you say after that?� Sango asked.

�Wench I am speaking to you.�

�Thank you.� Sango said sweetly. �HIRATSU� �THUMP�

�My name is Sango� she said looking down at a dazed Hiei. �I would think someone as intelligent as you would remember that.� When Sango finished talking to Hiei she looked up to see a smirking Higaro.

�What�s so funny yokai� Sango demanded.

Higaro stiffened and brought his hands up in surrender. �N�No..Nothing� he stammered.

�Hm.� Sango replied and turned away.

�I�m going to take a bath. ALONE.� And left in the direction of the river.

�Hiei,� Higaro began. �your mate is sure scary when she�s mad.�

�She�s not my mate Icee.� Hiei responded stoically.

�Mate, future mate, we both know you want her as your mate.�

�Hn.�

�What I don�t get is why you haven�t told her anything yet.�

�none of your business�

�Maybe not but if you keep waiting someone else may take her from you.�

Hiei growled at this thought. �No one else would dare, SHE IS MINE!!�

�She is unmated, she is free� Higaro said this with a smirk. �Until she is mated, any other yokai is free to mate her if she so chooses. Think on that Hiei.�

�Shut up Icee before I make you.� Hiei said with a dangerous growl.

�Yeah yeah yeah.. promises. Promises� Higaro said under his breath knowing full well that Hiei could hear him.

~~~~~~~~~at the river~~~~~~~~

After making sure that there was no one around Sango went into the river for a bath. Kamie, it was at times like this that she missed her dear friend and sister Kagome. There were times when she wished that the Shikon Jewel had never been completed, for then Kagome and her friends would still be together. But then Sango would immediately feel guilt towards this train of thought seeing as how no good could come of the Jewel being shattered.

Sango slowly sank down into the water to rinse out her hair. As she slowly came back up a pair of strong arms came around her waist and pulled her back towards a hard and muscular body.

�Hiei, what are you doing here. I thought I made it clear I wanted to bathe alone.� Sango said mildly. In truth she was glad that he came after her. It made her feel as if he truly did want her.

�I couldn�t resist, just the thought of the water touching you caressing you when I wasn�t there, just�� he broke off as he started to nibble, kiss, and suck on her neck.

~kami I just want to make her mine~ Hiei thought to himself. As he let his hands wander all over Sango�s body.

Sango was already burning wherever Hiei would touch her. Just one slight touch from him would send millions of sensations coursing through her body. Soon Sango and Hiei lost themselves in a vortex of desire and passion so strong it left them weak and gasping for air.

Afterwards they quietly dressed while still trading kisses and caresses and sat near the river looking at the cliffs near the horizon.

�Hiei does that saying make any sense to you.� Sango asked Hiei, with her head resting on his shoulder.

�I have an idea but I need to think on it some more taji.� He replied softly with his arm around her waist.

They sat there for a while until Hiei softly called her name. When he did not get a response, he realized that she was asleep. Hiei picked her up in his arms bridal style and headed back towards camp where Higaro was.

Higaro had already set up a fire and was sitting on a log waiting for the tajiya and Hiei to come back. When he saw Hiei carrying the tajiya he smirked and quirked an eyebrow.

�I see you still haven�t mated her.� He taunted
�Hn� was all Hiei would say. He was in to good a mood and didn�t feel like letting Icee�s comments get to him. Besides he found that Icee gets very annoyed when simply ignored.

�Higaro, what are your thoughts towards the saying?� Hiei asked suddenly.

Higaro looked shocked to say the least. His old friend had not once called him by his name in days.

Hiei just smirked, getting some enjoyment out of shocking the ice demon.

�Well do you have any ideas.� Hiei prodded.

Higaro managed to compose himself and replied, �I do have one idea though. The only thing I can think of at the moment is of a cave, it would have to be very high up though and facing the direction of the sun.�

Hiei have a slight nod as if confirming something. �You just confirmed what I was saying. But the caves would have to be near the village. What about those cliffs over there.� And pointed to some cliffs that were close by.

�That may do but we would have to search for it around noon.�

�Hn.� Was all Hiei said as he lay down next to Sango and gathered her into his arms. But before he fell asleep he noticed that as soon as he gathered Sango into his arms she just cuddled closer to him and sighed in contentment.
