Chapter Five

Kagome went to her locker straight after school and grabbed her bag for the weekend. She quickly left the school and walked into the parking lot where Shippo was leaning against Sesshoumaru�s hummer. He smiled as he saw her and held out his arms �do I get a hug, mommy?�
She smiled and ran into his arms �of course you do, son�
He grinned as he soaked up the hug �you have been avoiding us�I missed you so much�
Without looking up she gave a sad smile into his chest as she welcomed the hug she was receiving �I know, I�ve just been busy, I�m sorry�
He pulled away to look at her with a bright smile �doesn�t matter, you�re here now!�
�Indeed� said the taiyoukai as he approached the two. He gave the kitsune a small glare before softening his eyes at seeing the girl who�d been missing in their lives for the past month �It�s good to see you again, shall we go now?� at her nod they all got in the car with her sitting in the passenger side and Shippo sitting in the back. Sesshoumaru had already loaded everything they needed the night before so they got to head out straight from the school. The ride itself was about two hours, but the three were enjoying themselves so much that it only felt like it took half an hour. They talked, joked, and enjoyed the scenery once they reached outside the city. Shippo and Sesshoumaru were wise and decided in order to keep Kagome�s mood cheerful they would not mention her father on this trip. It was obvious her father was her problem, but they would not speak of it since she didn�t seem ready to tell them about it. Instead they decided to enjoy her company over the weekend.
Pulling up to a gate, Shippo got out opening it, then they drove in. Even here Sesshoumaru didn�t live the life of a rich man. Pulling up to the house; it was a very ordinary farm house. It only had one floor, no upstairs. Getting out of the car and walking in to the place it was clear it wasn�t very big at all. First walking in you could see it had a cozy living room big enough for a tv, couch, lazy chair, a place on the floor to lay down, and a table by the window with pictures on it. Kagome decided she would look at those later after touring the rest of the house. The dining room wasn�t very big either enough for a small table and with four chairs around it. The kitchen too was small and cozy there was enough walking space for maybe three people to walk in there, but they would definitely get in each others way. She then stared to walk down a narrow hallway; to her right was the bathroom which was tiny. It had medium size bathtub, a counter top with sink, and a toilet. Continuing down the hallway she came across a room that seemed to be like a storage room. Then she found a closet and beside that the first bedroom that held only a single futon and a dresser. Turning her head she saw she ran out of hallway as there was one more room at the end. Peering in she saw it was slightly bigger than the first bedroom. It had a double bed with the window above it, a closet, and a dresser.
�Do you like it?� a deep voice asked.
Kagome smiled as she turned around to see Sesshoumaru �yes, it�s small, but cozy�
He smirked as he peered into the room �you and I will be staying in this room; Shippo is staying in the small room�
She gasped as she spun around to face him �uum, I�m a girl�
�A fact I�m well aware of� he said amused as he watched the blush rise to her cheeks.
�Well wouldn�t it make more sense for me to� she paused trying to find the right words �well a girl needs privacy, should I get the small room and you two sleep together�
He gave a nod �but does a girl also not need sleep?� at her nod, he continued �well so do I. Shippo is a blanket thief and cannot sleep still. One of us would have to sleep with him and get no sleep. I figured it would be best to put him by himself so all of us can sleep�
She gave a nervous nod �well, okay then I guess if it�s for the best�
Shippo came up behind them carrying her things and walking into the room �so what do you think, Kagome?�
�I already feel relaxed� she stated.
He grinned �great� he looked at his watch �well let�s make a quick meal and we can watch a movie� he suggested �tomorrow we can go ridding and swimming�
She started to follow him �okay�
Sesshoumaru took a step forward and faced the kitsune �you will finish unloading the hummer and Kagome and I will make supper�
�Awe� Shippo frowned �okay then� he smiled at her �I�ll be finished by the time you guys are done�
Kagome and Sesshoumaru walked into the kitchen. Seeing food in the fridge, she wondered if it was any good. The taiyoukai assured her it was. He had the people who looked after the horses while they were in the city also get the groceries when they decided to come out for the weekend. Together they set to work making simple sandwiches and cutting up some fruit. The taiyoukai went to go grab some of the already cut up meat out of the fridge on his way back to the counter he saw she was struggling to cut the watermelon. Placing the meat beside some of the already completed sandwiches and buttered buns, he decided to help her.
�Careful before you hurt yourself� he said as he came up behind her, placing his hands over hers. He felt her stiffen when she realized how close he was. Taking her hand that was holding the knife he lifted it before making sure she had a firm grip on the knife. Once he was sure he her hand down and the knife went halfway through the watermelon. He brought her hand up again, but not nearly as far before bringing it down again and with a few quick sawing motions the watermelon was in half. He then leaned down closer to her ear �all you need is to use a little muscle�
Kagome felt herself blush with how close he was �well I�m not a youkai Sesshoumaru, I don�t have your strength�
He took a little step back so that she didn�t get uncomfortable with his closeness �true as that may be, even a human can cut a watermelon� he smirked at her �I guess you are just too weak even as a human�
Kagome gasp and turned to him, seeing the smirk on his face, she realize he�d been messing with her. She too decided to play along and she smirked at him �I suppose you�re right, but then again it was me who was able to break your armor� she turned her back to him to slice up the watermelon �and wasn�t me who pulled tetsusaiga free that first time when you and Inuyasha couldn�t do it?�
His smirk faded a little �hnn, you were lucky�
�No I was human� she retorted �that�s why I could do it�
�And breaking my armor?�
She blushed �okay that one was luck� she looked at him �I was new and I was not very good at shooting a bow�
He chuckled �my armor begged to differ�
�Yeah, well� not being able to think of anything she quickly went back to work cutting the watermelon �we should hurry and finish this, I�m sure Shippo is almost done�
He consented and set to work helping her finish making supper. As soon as everything was on the table, Shippo came in. Together they ate together in quiet silence before going into the living room and tried to figure out what movie to watch; in the end it was decided they would watch Idol Hands. Kagome sat on the couch and Sesshoumaru took up place beside her with Shippo preferring to relax on the floor in front of them.
When the movie finished, Shippo turned to see how Kagome liked it, she had gotten quiet near the end. He smiled when he noticed she was asleep and using the taiyoukai�s shoulder as her pillow �guess we should go to bed then� he watched as the taiyoukai carefully picked her up before going to stand him self �well everything seems to be going fine so far�
Sesshoumaru gave a nod �indeed it does, but with the slight problem back home that has her avoiding us; it might cause a problem in the end�
Shippo frowned and his shoulders slumped �yeah I guess so� he turned to follow the youkai down the hall to the bedrooms �I don�t see why we can�t deal with it, we know what it is�
�Because dealing with it when she hasn�t said anything might possibly put a delay in the plans or stop it completely� he stated �I�m not going to risk it�
�We�re already delayed in the plans� the kitsune tried to reason �wouldn�t it be easier to just lose the problem so the plans can continue?�
Sesshoumaru turned to him with a sharp growl �I have said no and my word is final� he watched as the kitsune lowered his eyes as a form of submission �I know you want the plan to happen, but if it is rushed then it will not work�
�I�m sorry� he said �I just want it to happen already, I can�t wait�
Sesshoumaru gave a nod as he walked into his room �understood, but you must learn patience� he gave an irritated sigh �something you still haven�t learned in 500 years�
Shippo gave a short chuckle as he watched the former western lord place his adoptive mother on the bed �I�ll learn eventually�
�I�m starting to doubt it� he replied as the taiyoukai moved to remove her socks and cover her up. Moving to his suitcase he grabbed his pj bottoms and put them on. Finishing that, he moved to crawl into bed and got close to the sleeping girl, wrapping his arms around her and pulling her close to him. Letting out a soft sigh as he breathed in her scent, he growled �close the door, kitsune�
�Yes, Sir� he said happily and the door could be heard closing.
The next morning, Kagome woke up feeling better than ever. She felt well rested and smiled to her self as she remembered she fell asleep during the movie. Looking around she realized she was in the bedroom her and Sesshoumaru were suppose to stay in. She frowned as she tried to figure out how she got there. After a moment she figured one of them must have brought her in. Taking another moment she realized, as she tried to move, she was held down and after a few minutes of moving around she gasped when she quickly realized it was an arm holding her down and the grip was now tightening.
�Do you always move so much in the morning?� a sleepy voice asked as he buried his head more into back.
She froze at the voice. She had forgotten that she was supposed to be sharing the room with Sesshoumaru. She felt herself blush a very bright red as she then put together that he was the one holding her tightly to him. She heard him sigh before he released her saying they should get some breakfast and he got out of the bed. Sitting up, she noticed she was in yesterday�s clothes and moved to her suitcase to grab herself some clean clothes. She walked down the hall and changed in the bathroom when she was done she put her dirty clothes beside her suitcase and left to join the boys for breakfast. She was startled a little to see Shippo setting the table without a shirt and only wearing pj bottoms. Turning her head she saw Sesshoumaru in the same state of clothing and once again she felt her face blush red as she found herself admiring the taiyoukai�s chest as he made pancakes, bacon and eggs. She had always admired him, but to see him without a shirt on almost had her drooling and she couldn't help think that she had that curled up next to her last night.
Shippo smiled when he caught her joining them. His smile turned into a grin when he saw where she was staring �come on in Kagome and sit down, don�t be shy, breakfast will be ready shortly�
Kagome gave a little �eep� at being caught staring before trying to wave it off and moving to sit down. Sesshoumaru walked over and placed a pancake on her plate �I hope you slept well� he asked he moved back into the kitchen to grab the food to bring to the table.
She smiled and nodded �I slept very well, thank you; I didn�t realize I fell asleep during the movie�
He smirked as he sat down �the farm can have that affect on people�
Shippo nodded �he�s right; we�ve done it more than once. You just get so relaxed and before you know it�you�re asleep�
Kagome took her first bit of pancake and beamed at Sesshoumaru �this is good�
�I�m glad you like my cooking� he responded �now let�s finish eating and afterwards we�ll get the horses and go for a ride down to the swimming hole�
Once breakfast was finished, Sesshoumaru got Shippo to get the horses ready while he and Kagome cleaned up the kitchen before making a quick lunch for a picnic. After that was done both went outside to see Shippo with two horses saddled and ready to go. Kagome watched as the taiyoukai walked up to a pure black horse except for a diamond on its� head and mount the animal, taking the reigns firmly in his hands. Kagome smiled as she could picture Sesshoumaru back in the days when horses were used to lead armies in the wars and even just before cars were invented. She then realized there was a slight problem with the situation as there were three of them, but only two horses �uum�
Already knowing the question, Shippo chuckled as he got on top of his chestnut mare �we only have two horses on the farm since we don�t normally bring anyone out here, so you are going to ride with Sesshoumaru�
Kagome felt herself blushing. Bad enough she had to share a bed with him, now she had to share a horse with him. Turning she looked at the kitsune �uum�
Knowing this question coming as well, he answered �my horse won�t accept a second person because it wasn�t trained to carry more than one person; Sesshoumaru�s horse on the other hand was so you�re much better off riding with him�
She snuck a glance at a smirking Sesshoumaru �is there a problem with riding with me, Kagome? Are you afraid of me?�
She gave him a small glare at the insinuation of being a coward �I�m nothing of the sort, now help me up� she demanded as she reached out her hand which he took, lifting her up, and helping her sit behind him on the saddle.
�Hold on to me� he spoke as they started off �we do enjoy running some of the way� and before she could respond he had broken the horse off into a gallop. With a shriek she was holding on to the youkai for dear life as they rode through the country side. As fast as they rode, Kagome did enjoy seeing the farm land as it flew past her.
It didn�t seem like much time had passed either before they were at the swimming hole, but in actuality it was nearly time for lunch. Sesshoumaru helped her slide off his horse before he also dismounted. He gave the reigns to Shippo and let the kitsune tie up the horses while him and Kagome set up the blanket and prepared the food for lunch.
�I didn�t realize the swimming hole was so far from the house� she spoke and she set out the plates.
�We took the long way around so you could see how big the farm really is� Sesshoumaru replied as he took a seat on the blanket �what do you think?�
�I didn�t know one farm could be so big� she replied
�Well I do enjoy my privacy and with having this much land I can walk around freely in my true form�
Her eyes lit up at that thought �really? That is so cool! I think the last time I saw your true form was when you were trying to steal tetsusaiga�
Sesshoumaru tried to think of all the times back then when he had used his true form, but could only remember one time with her there �I believe you are right�
�As your true form changed at all?�
�It has grown up just as I have� he answered.
She was silent a moment before asking the burning question �so�can I see it?�
�Perhaps after lunch�
Shippo strolled over and sat down �so what is for lunch?�

Reaching into the picnic basket, Kagome pulled out some sandwiches �take your pick� before reaching in and getting some meats and crackers along with some grapes and a few slices of watermelon. They ate in silence, everyone enjoying the others company. Soon the food was gone and Shippo had fallen asleep on a full stomach. Kagome stood up and removed her shirt and pants revealing a bathing suit underneath.
�You almost had me believing I was getting a show� a smooth and deep voice said.
She turned around to see Sesshoumaru staring at her and felt the blood rush to her cheeks. She never thought she�d be one to hear Sesshoumaru make a comment like that and didn�t know how to respond to the remark so she decided to ignore it and took her first step into the water. Smiling, she walked fully into it once she realized that the water was only a little cold, but tolerable. Swimming out a little ways she then turned around so see the taiyoukai still watching her �so are you going to show me your demon form or what?�
�Later� he responded dully before removing his shirt. Standing up he removed his pants to reveal swimming trunks �for now I think I will join you�
Kagome decided to try and get him back for that embarrassment earlier �really? And here you almost had be believing I was getting a show�
Sesshoumaru walked in till the water reached his waist before responding casually �you need only ask� he replied before sinking underwater, leaving a blushing girl.
Kagome glared at the spot he disappeared under the water �I can�t win with him� she waited a moment for him to reappear, but after a few minutes she grew worried. He should know how to swim after 500yrs, right? Then where the hell was he, �Sess-Sesshoumaru?� she called out softly. She got no answer and couldn�t even see him in the water. She was starting to worry the longer he went unseen. Suddenly she felt something brush against her leg, quickly looking down, she saw nothing. Then she felt it again and softly called out the taiyoukai�s name and got no response �come on, you�re really starting to freak me out� she spoke nervously, worried something might have happened. Suddenly she felt something wrap around her waist and she screamed as she was lifted out of the water by a pair of strong arms. Automatically her arms went around the person�s neck and she held on for dear life. When the moving stopped she quickly snapped her head back to look and see who had grabbed her.
Sesshoumaru chuckled as he held her bridal style out of the water �my, my, were you worried about me?�
She glared at him and immediately started yelling �why the hell would I worry about you?! You overbearing demon! You scared the living hell out of me just popping out of no where like that! What the hell is wrong with you?!�
He couldn�t help it; he started to laugh �I guess now I know what it feels like to be on the other end of your anger up close. No wonder you and Inuyasha got along so well. You�re both hot headed� she that effectively quieted her, he finished �but I suppose I could put you back� and immediately put his arms out to the side causing her to fall into the water. He chuckled more when she came out sputtering and started yelling at him again.
His chuckling at the situation only made her angrier and out of no where she used her hands to splash water in his chuckling face; that immediately made him stop and look at her seriously, which made her nervous. He took a step towards her and she took one back, quickly he leapt forward and grabbed her again. She shrieked as she was lifted into the air again and this time thrown a little further away in the water. She came out sputtering again and again she splashed him. Soon it was an all out splash war between the two, both laughing and the odd shriek from her. This went on for an hour before Shippo finally woke up and made them call truce, although Sesshoumaru did toss her into the water once more after.
Kagome had to admit she was having a lot of fun out on the farm with the two youkai. Who would have thought that 500yrs would change Sesshoumaru so much from a cold hearted youkai to one that actually knew how to live and have fun once in awhile? She smiled at the thought as she lay on the blanket and was drying off in the sun. She then felt someone�s presence next to her and turned to see the taiyoukai she�d been thinking about. He turned his head to look at her �have you had fun today?�
She grinned and nodded �a lot of fun� she gave him a small playful glare �even if you did scare the hell out of me�
He gave a nod and a small smirk �at least you had fun that is the important part�
�Where�d Shippo go?� she asked when she noticed she hadn�t seen him since after they called truce and came out of the water.
�He enjoys the outdoors and being on the farm he can be in his true form� he replied �he�ll be gone for awhile�
She sat up and looked down at him �what does he do in his true form? Where does he go?�
He shrugged �what he does is his own business; I do not intrude into his life. I just know that when he is in his true form he likes to take off and be on his own from time to time�
She gave him a soft smile �I was right when I chose to put him in your care. You�ve done a really good job with him Sesshoumaru, thank you�
�I suppose I have learned from him as well� he replied �he has taught me to not take everything so seriously and how to actually enjoy myself�
�That being said, do I get to see your true form now?� she asked.
Sesshoumaru smirked as he moved to stand up �I suppose I did say I would show you�
�Yeah you did, you said after lunch, it�s long after lunch� she retorted.
He said nothing, but gave a nod as he slowly let his inner beast rise to the surface. He could tell it was excited to get out and run free. He just had to keep enough control to make sure it didn�t ruin his plans. The winds picked up around him and he could feel his nails grow longer and his teeth larger. Fur started to grow from his body before he felt his aura transform him into a ball to complete his transformation. When he opened his eyes he could see for miles ahead and when he looked down he saw her staring at him with a surprised expression.
Kagome gasped as she saw him in his true form. He had gotten a lot bigger since the first time she�d seen him. He wasn�t as muscled as before but looked more built for speed. He really grew into himself and looked more like an actual dog than a demon dog just he was at least 3 times the size he used to be. His red eyes looked her way and he took a step towards her, lowering his large head right in front of her. She was amazed at him and practically jumped when he spoke.

�Are you happy now?�

She gave a nod and gulped �you�ve grown since the last time I saw you like this�

�Back then I was still considered a pup, what do you think of the older me?�

�Wow� was her only reply.
He gave a huff before his tongue came out to lick her face. He gave a purr like growl �you taste as good as you smell�

Kagome could feel her blush rise and decided not to respond to his statement, mostly because she didn�t know how to respond to it to begin with. Instead she took her time to admire his grown form, walking up close to him and watching him as he watched her. She could tell his fur had gotten smoother than from when he was a �puppy� and it looked so much softer. She kept thinking all she had to do was reach out her hand and touch it, but she honestly didn�t know how he would take that.
Sesshoumaru, see her dilemma, smirked on the inside �you may touch me if you wish�

Needing no further encouragement than that, she reached out her hand to stroke his nose before moving down. She petted the side of his face and smiled when he turned his head so she could stroke him behind the ear. Though it was hard to do since his head was bigger than her, but she managed and he seemed to enjoy it to. After a few minutes he rolled to his side as he felt more relaxed. Kagome enjoyed seeing the youkai lord relaxed and thoroughly enjoying himself. After all, last time he was in this form he was trying to kill her and Inuyasha.

�You seem to be enjoying yourself Sesshoumaru�

Kagome turned to see a fox about twice the size Kirara had been in her large form �Shippo?�

�That�s right you�ve never seen me in my true form� he reasoned as he strolled up to her, only to stop when the dog demon behind her released a tiny growl �I never did use my true form back when you took care of me� he smiled inside has he watched her cautiously walk up to him �there�s no need to be afraid of me, I would never dream of hurting my mother�

Kagome seemed to relax a little and started to walk up to the kitsune. She was startled still when she felt the ground move and a rather mean growl came from behind her. She turned her head to see the taiyoukai standing, baring his teeth and had to admit it scared her and unknowingly she started to move closer to Shippo. What had gotten into the inu youkai to make him start behaving this way for no reason?

�Kagome stop moving� Shippo instructed, he knew exactly what was going on and silently cursed himself for his stupidity. He knew better, but had wanted to show his adoptive mother his true form so badly he didn�t follow the rules. He sighed; he was going to hear about this later when the taiyoukai regained control again, but first he needed to deal with the problem they had �don�t be afraid, he�s beast is in control and it�s my fault�

She looked at him �how is it your fault?�

�Hard to explain, but there�s rules to follow when dealing with inu youkai in their true forms and I just forgot to follow them� he answered �because I didn�t follow the rules his beast has taken control� seeing her tense at hearing that, he quickly finished �don�t worry he won�t hurt you, just do as I say and his beast will calm down enough for him to get under control again� at her nod, he started instructing her in what to do �slowly walk up to him�

Kagome whipped around and looked at her now older adopted son �what? Do I look like I want to be eaten?!�
The inu snarled and she jumped before running to wrap her arms around the kitsune, which caused the inu to snarl quite viciously. Shippo quickly tried to think of a way to show the inu he was not trying to interfere or rival him �you have to go to him, and never turn your back on him. It�s a sign of disrespect and defiance. Just do as I say and you�ll be fine, he won�t hurt you just do as I say� he felt her nod against his fur and watched as she released him to face the snarling inu. He could tell she was afraid and didn�t blame her in the least, he was too when he saw the taiyoukai first lose control of his beast, it�s a scary sight. Seeing her just standing there he quickly went up and gave her a nudge before backing up when the inu growled ferociously and even snapped his teeth towards him, causing her to take a step back �ignore everything he does, none of it is towards you, but me. Just keep walking towards him� he watched as she did as she was told until she was standing right in front of the inu. The inu�s growling had subsided, but he was still baring his teeth towards him �okay now what you need to do is touch him� he could see her turn her head slightly and he knew she was thinking he was crazy �just do it, it will help calm him down, start stroking him like you were doing before I showed up�

Kagome sighed and did as she was told. She noticed the growling stopped and the inu backed up so he could get attention around his face. After a few minutes he seemed to have forgotten about the fox and was taking pleasure in having attention lathered upon him. He even stuck out his tongue and licked her a few times. Feeling someone behind her she turned to see Shippo still in his kitsune form �just ignore me, act like I�m not here� she gave a nod and continued to pet the large inu. She smiled as she felt her kitsune rubbing up against her. She stilled in her stroking the inu when he growled, but continued when Shippo told her not to stop and he backed away. This went on for awhile before the giant inu was surrounded in a ball of light only to reveal a normal Sesshoumaru when the light faded.
Sesshoumaru glared at the kitsune �that was a very foolish thing you did�
The kitsune bowed his head and his ears went back �I know, I�m sorry�

Kagome glanced between the two �I don�t understand; what did he do wrong?�
The taiyoukai glanced at her, decided whether or not to answer �when I am in my true form the beast that I am wants to be in control. Normally I do let it run free, but because you are here I kept control not sure how it would act. Rules for inu youkai apply to the same as your average dog� he turned to face her �you would not just walk up to a dog when it didn�t know you were coming or if it gave a warning to stay away�
�But you�ve been with Shippo for hundreds of years, why did it get mad at him?� she asked.

�It is a complicated thing� said Shippo as he walked up next to her �the main thing is I knew better and was reckless. It is my own fault� he looked at the taiyoukai before returning to his humanoid self �I am truly sorry�
Sesshoumaru gave a nod �do not let it happen again� at the kitsune�s nod, he looked back at Kagome �It�s getting late, we should return to the house�
The trip back was silent, not a word was spoken more about the incident. Back at the house Shippo made supper and afterwards all sat down to watch a movie in silence. It was an uncomfortable atmosphere and as soon as the movie was done, Kagome said her goodnights and went to bed. Sesshoumaru waited till she was in the room before growling at the kitsune �because of that stunt today you might have set the plan back�
Shippo frowned �how many times am I going to have to say I�m sorry� he gave a shy glance at him, he felt like a little kid again being scolded again �I just wanted her to see my true form, I was just excited�
�Have I taught you nothing when it comes to using your head?� Sesshoumaru snapped.
�I just forgot� he frowned.
Sesshoumaru stood up �let�s hope that this incident hasn�t ruined the plan� he started to walk towards the bedroom �I am going to bed�
Walking into the bedroom, he saw her lying in the bed, eyes closed. Observing her a moment he knew she wasn�t asleep yet and smirked. Quickly he removed his shirt before going to the washroom to change into his pajama bottoms and when he came back into the room he moved to lay next to her, placing a hand on her arm. He saw her shift a little before opening her eyes to look at him �I am sorry for earlier today�
She gave a nod and wrapped herself more in the blanket �it�s alright, but why did your beast go off like that?�
�It saw Shippo as a threat� he answered.
She looked at him confused �but you�ve raised Shippo all this time, surely your beast would know that he is no threat to you�
�My beast felt he was a threat to you� he replied �our beasts are very simple minded creatures and even though it knows Shippo it does not mean my beast fully trusts him with anything. My beast is more protective when around females and will see anyone else as a threat� he smirked �you can thank Rin for that, it never used to behave that way until her and all the times I had to rescue her�
She smiled �so because of Rin and her needing rescuing so much with Naraku, your beast has developed a protective side�
�It has always been protective, I am an inu after all� he responded �It just stopped being protective of itself and learned to protect others, mostly females and the kitsune when he was younger. My beast sees Shippo as an adult now and therefore should be on his own�
She gave a small chuckle �I see what Shippo meant when he said it was hard to explain�
�It is a complex thing, but when following simple steps, no problems are started� he reasoned. He saw her yawn before saying �we should sleep, we can ride out once more tomorrow morning before we leave to go back to the city� he watched as her eyes grew saddened �if there is something going on you can always talk to me�
She gave a small smile �maybe later�
He nodded and leaned over to kiss her cheek �very well then, goodnight�
Kagome watched as he leaned back and closed his eyes. She could feel the blush in her cheeks. Why had he done that? Was it just only a goodnight kiss like she used to give Shippo at night? She smiled and got herself settled; yes that was most likely it.
The next morning Kagome awoke in the arms of the taiyoukai once again. She guessed that the once thought to be cold hearted youkai did indeed like to cuddle in his sleep and during movies. She also learned she couldn�t leave his grasp until he woke up. Anytime she tried to leave the arms around her tightened. She sighed as she waited for him to wake up. Lucky for her she only had to wait a few minutes before she felt herself being snuggled closer to him as he buried his head behind her and heard a mumbled good morning. She froze though when she felt a sensation tingle down her from where his lips rested on her neck in what felt like a light kiss. When he moved away he also released her from his grasp and she jumped up, grabbed her clothes, and made her way to the bathroom. In the bathroom she placed both her hands on the sink and tried to gain control of her breathing. Was that an accident or deliberate? She didn�t know, but she felt weird having Sesshoumaru kiss her like that�twice no less. But maybe last night was just a goodnight kiss and this morning he was still just half asleep, maybe it meant nothing, it was an accident. She wasn�t sure, but she knew one thing, she didn�t like the feeling she got from it. The feeling she got when he touched her neck, that sensation she felt. She groaned as the feeling came rushing back as she remembered. Shaking her head she gathered herself together.
After breakfast which was prepared by Shippo, they went out for one more ride on the farm. When they returned they had a quick lunch before starting the journey back to the city. Kagome was silent throughout the trip, deep in her own thoughts. Neither noticed for they too were deep in their own thoughts over the weekend getaway.

Sesshoumaru growled to himself as he watched Kagome gather her belongings as the class ended. It had been a week since they went to the farm and she had gone back to ignoring them once again, but only this time, she refused to even look at him unless called upon in class. As she went to leave he cleared his throat �Higurashi, I would like to speak with you a moment, please stay behind�
Kagome walked over to his desk and waited for everyone to leave the class. She knew this was going to happen eventually �is there a problem Mr. Taisho?�
Sesshoumaru watched as the last person left the class before turning to glare at the girl before him �why are you avoiding us?�
Kagome looked away from the door where the last student left before dropping the respectful tone �I�m not avoiding�
He growled �you are, you no longer speak to us. You avoid Shippo when he comes to have lunch with you�

�I don�t want to talk about it� she snapped.
�There is something going on and you better explain� he demanded �this all started when your father showed up� he saw her stiffen and he gave a serious look �what is going on there? If he is doing something you should tell us�
She lowered her gaze to the ground �nothing is going on�
He took steps till he was standing in front of her �you lie, you should tell what is going on at home�
�It�s none of your business!� she shouted.
He growled �it is my business when it concerns you�
She gave him a defiant stare �no it is not� she spoke calmly �you are my teacher and I am your student, I shouldn�t be hanging around you after school because of that fact. I shouldn�t be taking rides home from a teacher or going to their house for supper or even going to their farms for a weekend getaway!�
Sesshoumaru snaked out an arm to grab her when he saw her turning to leave �the fact that I am your teacher does not matter�
�It does!� she argued �teachers do not hang out with their students, it isn�t right�
He growled again �I knew you long before you were ever my student in case you have forgotten�
�That doesn�t matter, this is now and not 500yrs ago� she responded �I should have nothing further than a student teacher relationship with you� she quickly turned and ran out of the room before he could stop her.
Sesshoumaru watched her leave and released a feral growl. This was not going according to plan.
Kagome released a giant sigh as she walked home from school. It was raining and she didn�t exactly feel in high spirits. She frowned as she thought about what happened with her conversation with the taiyoukai. She had really wanted to tell him what was going on, she needed to talk to someone, but she was afraid. She wasn�t sure what was going to happen and worried about how to deal with it. She gave another sigh; perhaps tomorrow she would talk to Shippo. After the way she talked to Sesshoumaru she doubted he would be so quick to listen to her, then again, she had also been ignoring Shippo. She frowned as she walked up the steps to her home, but she was right, teachers and students didn�t hang out, mostly because no teacher had history with a student unless they were a relative.
Kagome gave one last sigh as she walked in the door �I�m home!�
�Welcome back� called her mother �how was school?�
Dragging herself into the kitchen, she replied �same old, same old� she nearly jumped out of her skin when she saw her father sitting at the kitchen table.
He looked at her with a stern stare �that is not a good attitude to be having about school�
She gave a nod �yes I know, I�m sorry�
Aksumi smiled as she placed some snacks on the table �how have Sesshoumaru and Shippo been?�
Kagome gave a nervous smile �t-they�re okay, I haven�t really spoken with them much since I�ve been busy with school�
Her father looked at her �what are these two guys to you?�
�They are friends that I met a long time ago� she answered quickly.
�They are the ones that were at the party am I correct?� he questioned and she nodded �the red haired one looks to be about a collage age student, is he?�
She gave a nod �he just graduated�
Her father gave her a scrutinizing stare �and that older man? He is a friend of yours too?� she gave another nod �he�s a little old to be hanging around you, he�s a grown man�
�He is Shippo�s adoptive father� she explained.
�Then what is he doing spending time with an 18yr old girl?� he asked, his tone sounding hard �are you sleeping with him?�
Aksumi and Kagome both gasped. How dare he insinuate that she was some kind of slut that would go around sleeping with men over twice her age? Granted that Sesshoumaru was way more than that, but that wasn�t the point.
�I am not� she replied.
Aksumi started at her ex in disbelief �how could you think that?�
He glared at her �well she gets ride home from this boy�s father without the boy in the car and I�d still like to know where she went last weekend� he yelled as he slammed his fist on the counter.
Kagome tensed, but answered �Sesshoumaru has been good to me and has helped me out a lot; he was only being kind to me. I got invited to go to their farm just outside the city and that�s where I was�
She watched as her father stood up and walked over to her �you call this grown man by his name?� he said calmly �and you were out in the country with two men?� she nodded nervously �you slut!�
Kagome had no time to brace herself as she felt the sting across her cheek; the force causing her to lose her balance and fly back, hitting the corner of the table before hitting the floor. She winced at the pain and listened as her father raged on about being a slut for being out in the country with two grown men alone, stating she must have had a fun time sleeping with them. She stared at the floor until she could listen no more, she got up as quick as she could, ignoring the pain in her side, and with a quick apologetic glance at her mom, she ran out of the house in the middle of his rant. She didn�t know where to go, but she knew she had to leave the house before she lost her mind. She didn�t care as she felt the rain slowly soaking through her shirt. She just kept running and searching for a place to hide away from the public view, a place where he couldn�t find her.
Aksumi watched her daughter run out of the house before turning to her ex-husband �that was completely uncalled for� she snapped �if you were around over the years and knew Kagome as well as a father should know their children, you would never have said such cruel things� she took a step towards him and slapped his face �and don�t you ever touch my daughter again� immediately she went over and picked up the phone before dialing. She waited a moment until she heard him pick up �its Aksumi, Kagome has run away� and she went into detail, explaining what happened.
